- Halloween is an ancient holiday that is said to have originated about 2000 years ago and the tradition involved fire, animal sacrifices and costumes to ward off ghosts. Today the holiday has evolved into pumpkins, costumes and trick or treating but I want to experience my own version of Halloween at my primitive hut. Enjoy the ASMR quality of this video to relax or fall asleep.

Imagine if some distant hikers spotted Chad, he'd accidentally create a new Cryptid.
Wood ash has some minor antiseptic properties due to the alkaline properties that can be extracted from it via water...BUT when it mixes with small amounts of water (such as from sweat), it forms lye, and that can burn your skin. Wood ash for tooth brushing powder again has caustic lye strong enough to damage the enamel of your teeth. Please do not keep wood ash on your skin for very long, and rinse THOROUGHLY, as in several times.

@@ChadZuberAdventures It can be useful in some ways, particularly in small amounts or for shorter durations, and you didn't look like you were sweating at any point, so I wasn't too worried...except for when you put it on your face. I was concerned for your eyes, but you looked alright afterward.
Plus, you're already living & working in an alkaline environment down in the Southwest, so your body has some tolerance for it. I live up in western Washington, where it's an acidic environment. I think my body would have a bit of a different reaction if I did the same thing, lol! Certainly I know I have to be careful with how much alkaline water I drink, so I always go for lemonade when I visit other regions. Otherwise I feel awful within a few days.
nah, you'd need a whole lot of ash and water to extract a meagre amount of lye and it only burns you when you cook it. i've done it myself. I wish it were that strong and easy lol
use charcoal for teeth cleaning. Takes a bit to rinse out but way better than wood ash.

I think the rocket scene was perfect juxtaposition. If we didn't know any better, we'd think it was a comet. A sign from the heavens in a way.
Side note: It would be interesting if a team of scientists and engineers studied primitive technologies more. Like how many modern comforts could you still be able to have if you just had knowledge and the raw world around you. For example, we think mud huts are a thing of the past... but we have engineers trying to make 3D printed houses with it and its said we'll be using the moons dust as 'lunarcrete' for moon bases. Nature always has a new lesson for us, no matter how far we advance.
At first I thought it was a comet. Mud huts will likely be a new way to live for many people as rising costs and government restrictions drive more people away from the cities.
According to google: Wood ash has been used to clean wounds, and modern studies have shown that it actually significantly speeds wound healing. The ash is also effective as an antiseptic

Practical reason for rubbing ash on your skin.
In my experience back in my ancestral islands of Micronesia, I learned that if you smell like smoke,fire, and ASH you’d ward mosquitoes and flies. a local island girl taught me this. My goodness she was beautiful…I was still set off when her chiding title is lek’u a’re ”ash walker” In Kiribati.

Ashes used to be used as a substitute for soap, because if you've got oily residue on your skin or something that won't wash off with just water, it'll saponify it directly on your skin and act like soap in the end, but basic pH is not great for your skin long term.
Thanks for the tip. I will make soap eventually. Although the yucca leaves work great.
