- Want to learn how to make this beet pasta recipe with colourful homemade pasta dough?It's super easy and can be made with only a few ingredients. Coloured naturally with beets, this hand made pasta dough only uses flour, eggs and pureed beetroot. The beetroot lends a beautiful earthy flavour and of course gorgeous colour.

Wow 5 hours. I get it though. Dough seems impossible but then you realize it's one of the easiest things you could make. You go girl!!! You should try pate choux next. Your mind will be blown at how easy they are. It may take 10 hrs for you the first time. 😅😅

The spinach flavour is hardly noticeable and very mild. The beet flavour is mild but more noticeable than the spinach, gives the pasta nice earthy note. haha fine not belly buttons... ears maybe? :P

I’ve made pasta before so I felt comfortable trying tortellinis. (And this video makes it look amazing!!) Sadly, I had two failed attempts. I THINK my problem was I used Home-canned beets. My moisture was was too much. I’ll try with fresh beets tomorrow.
Update: I tried this
Sorry…I tried this exactly as the recipe called. Something’s not adding up. The beets were a lot better fresh than canned but there was sooo much moisture. A complete mess. I kept going with the kneading and added as much flour as needed. It took easily 3c more.
As well, I had peaceful piano music playing following your example!

Great question and thank you! Laminating the pasta dough gives it a firmer more al dente/ to the teeth texture. It’s not a necessary step if you aren’t feelin it. You can always just skip it and your pasta will still turn out great ☺️ hope this helps
Did I hear you call it 'tortellini'? Couldn't quite catch it...I'm trying it tonight, but my own beets were a bit wet (didn't drain enough) so I had to add a LOT more flour! Haven't put them in boiling water yet, so fingers crossed!

"Two cups" what kind of measurement is that? Sounds like a vague estimate. You started with grams for the beetroot which was a good start and then switched measurement from metric to bra sizes.

Does the beetroot give a strong flavor to the pasta?
it's not super strong but does add a note of earthiness to the finished product.

Yeah it's good but few things I would rather know. 1)mention all ingredients you use even salt. 2) give us a little taste and explain how you like it.
What size pastry ring are you using for the tortellini rounds?
And also the tip size on the pastry bag for piping?
May I ask what type of flour is that?
All purpose as it's all I could get right now but you can use 00 flour for the best results if you are able to find it :)

There is no way that 2 cups of flour is anywhere near enough flour for all that liquid!!! - 250g beet paste plus 2 eggs? did you mean 4 cups?
