Was a really good issue the deer really shows how fragile life on earth is when you introduce it to giant robots from outer space and I really love the depiction of Optimus as a more introspective leader and shows his roots as his origins as a simple data clerk.
As a tall person, I really related a lot with the Optimus Prime/Deer Pudding instance when Im in a new house for the first time. I don't feel clumsy until I accidentally step on their cat's paw, or open a door too hard. Can't wait for more of this content.
As I mentioned in my last podcast, that Optimus/deer scene told us all we needed to know about who Optimus is and what he stands for. Well done sir! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!
I just picked up the graphic novel of the first six issues and I love it. Your writing and art are gritty in all the right ways. I told my oldest that it reminds me of the early Ninja Turtles art. I absolutely love it!
Dude, when I read the 1st issue, I knew I was in for a wild ride! But that deer scene in the 2nd issue made me realize that this Transformers run was gonna be something really special. Optimus Prime is the paragon of all that is good and just, and he shows this deer regret, sorrow, sincerity and respect on an alien world that he doesn't know because that is who he is. Thank you, I'm very excited for where this run will go! YOU GOT THE TOUCH!
I honestly gasped out loud when Optimus accidentally stepped on that deer. The moment was so gripping in all the right ways. You nailed it Dubbers, no notes. Really glad Hasbro let you keep that moment. I'll be sorry to see your art leave the book, it truly is tremendous! but i'm glad your sticking around to write, I'm loving your take on these characters. I trust Skybound and know they wont disappoint us with the next artiest they choose. I also know you can't tell us who the next artiest is and I wouldn't dare ask, but I can dream. It would be pretty cool if Skybound went with someone like Ryan Ottley or Chris Samnee. Anyway love your work keep it up, all the best.
I absolutely loved the first two issues. I have both in 1st print. I'm all about TPBs but this run is something different, I'm gonna collect everything. 10/10!!!!!
I missed the this live. Loved the first issue commentary. Having a peek behind the curtains is always a treat. I really hope you get to do these for every/other issue or as often as you can.
Great work. Haven’t enjoyed comics this much in a long time. One critique. If you Mr story needs Optimus Prime to accidentally kill a deer: he turns into a truck.
Even before you mentioned it, I got the Iron Giant vibe from the deer scene. Also, young deer instinctually freeze and try to rely on their camouflage when there is a threat so there's that, could definitely explain the accident even occuring. I dunno, I knew immediately what you were doing with this scene so not to be rude to those who don't like it, but they clearly just don't have the mindset to understand what you were doing. Perhaps it says more about them that they jumped to thinking you did this just in poor taste...
