This couldn't have come at a better time! I'm 7 weeks post-op RNY and struggling with certain foods. But I can usually figure out why after the fact (too dry! scrambled eggs!). Beans go okay, though, so this video has relieved some of my fears of a stricture. Love this updated version of your decade-old video, and if you ever video some of the cooking classes, I would watch the heck out of them!
Very useful information. I'm in the UK and 3 years out from a gastric sleeve. I've kept within 5 pounds of my target weight by following the dietary advice I was given in my follow-up programme and also from reading your 'Pound Of Cure' book. I work as a Registered Nurse in a busy surgical ward and I find protein shakes really useful as my go-to protein source during long shifts. It's not ideal I know, but sometimes I am so busy that I don't have time to eat a proper meal. I think at least it's better than anything from the vending machine? I still feel good restriction from my sleeve and describe the feeling if I over eat as how a snake must feel when it swallows a whole mouse and needs to sleep for hours to digest! Another sign that I've over eaten is that I start yawning even as I'm eating, very strange! (Edited to add that it is probably stimulation of the vagus nerve that causes the yawning?) Thanks again to both you and Zoe for the video.
In a pinch protein shakes are ok. If you can manage to make a smoothie before work with a scoop of protein in it, you'll still have the same experience of having something quick and easy with protein but you'll also get the benefit of the fruits and vegetables in the smoothie.
Dr weiner is really a very compassionate doctor. He really takes his time when u go in consultation with him. He made me feel relaxed and guided me the whole process of getting gastric bypass. I am grateful to meet him and blessed with such a nice doctor . God bless him and his team. The dietician and nurse practitioner and the whole staff in the office is awesome. You never feel rushed with dr weiner like Some other doctors. My name is Ben Bhatia and I am is patient.
how do you deal with the EMOTIONAL issues…. sugar/food addictions…. learning how to cope without the food comfort? this concerns me and is not addressed enough?
5:12 I want to know what you're supposed to eat before surgery. Especially if you have a lot of weight to lose...From what I understand you have to lose some weight so the surgery goes well.. I'm very scared😢... Before I even consider having surgery what would you consider to eat to lose weight for the bariatric surgery thank you😊
check out the link in the description for the "Pound of Cure" Book. It explains the whole food diet Dr. Weiner recommends. It worked for me to help kickstart good habits and change my disordered eating.
I would love to see a video on post op 2yrs out nutrition…..I’m struggling!!!! Can I come back from this?? I’ve lost 80 and still need to lose 30 more. Gastric bypass
Nutrition should be as close to the MRD that you can maintain for the rest of your life. We look for at least 80% compliance. In your case, you may want to consider our nutrition program. You can work with Zoe on a nutrition plan that's suited to your specific needs and goal. You can learn more here: www.poundofcureweightloss.com/nutrition-counseling-memberships/
@@apoundofcure thank you….i live out of state, can I still talk with Zoe? Will you be able to prescribe glp1 medication?? Is your book still valid or is there an updated version??
@@marlawegrzyn6991 It sounds like you want our Weight Regain program. That gives you access to both the nutrition program (Zoe) and GLP-1's. Call our office at (520) 298-3300 and we can get you started on that. The book is still valid but we can offer a more personalized plan in the nutrition program.

11years out, still having problems with amount, I'm 5'1 173 lbs..how much should I be eating?,6oz.protien,2oz.friuts or veggies....is green smoothie for breakfast ok,or should I add protein powder..so confused 🤔
Iron is very bad to supplement when it comes to the microbiome. Good video overall. Supplementation of calcium and iron are bad ideas. Get it from puréed food.

Please don’t use the term Eskimo. That is considered derogatory and I agree. Indigenous Peoples are Native, Métis, and Inuit. And not sure where you were going with the word “snow” in the Inuit language but all Indigenous languages will have a different name for rain and snow pending texture and volume.

I'm 5 days post op and am STRUGGLING to get 30oz of water in. It took about 3 hours to finish an 11oz protein drink.

Why is no one talking about how unhealthy artificial sweeteners are!!!
We have several videos on that.
I KNOW RIGHT!!???🤯
Yes especially if you have kidney disease those artificial sweeteners are bad for you
Because they are way less healthy than weighing 400 pounds and sometimes you have to choose one battle at a time.
iam in quebec canada....they dont want us to use artificial sugars unless your diabetic....which is good because I get the 💩💩 from fake sugars
I am sooooo tired of puréed food. I’ve been close to chewing something normal and then just spitting it
I feel this! 😅
Same here I just chewed an apple and spitted it
Which week do you recommend starting Bariatric vitamins

Anyone know why scrambled eggs is a no
It's just harder on the stomach at the beginning compared to poached or over-easy eggs. Later on you can add scrambled.
Iron is very bad to supplement when it comes to the microbiome. Good video overall. Supplementation of calcium and iron are bad ideas. Get it from puréed food.
It's not enough from pureed food, when you are gastric patient. Your body isn't able to pick up as much nutrition from food as before.
Agree @diceymaan
What about GREEN Drinks?
