    Thanks for sharing your video on how to fix this leaky seal. When I renovated my bathrooms in 1999, I installed three KOHLER Wellworth toilets ($119.99 each) and I installed one American Standard Champion Max ($198.99 each). Three years later, all three KOHLER Wellworth toilets are working like a clock, but the American Standard Champion Max starts leaking water for almost a year now. I know it leaks, but I never know how much water it wasted and I never get around to fix it until now. It is true that its bowl stays clean longer than the KOHLER and that was the reason why I bought it. But I will NEVER buy American Standard toilet again.

      It is an absolute POS valve, looks simple but very poor design. Fails constantly.

    Thanks for your video and all the tips. I used your link and ordered the proper part from Amazon. I replaced both the gasket and the O ring on my Champion 4 toilet and all went well thanks to this video! No more phantom flushes. I'm just baffled as to why I had the problem because upon inspection of the gasket I did not see or feel any bumps, nor did I see anything wrong with the O ring. The toilet is about 14 years old and this is the first repair I've had to make on any of its parts. Maybe it's lasted this long because I've always had a water softener in the house. Regardless, it's fixed and I'm happy! Thanks again!

    Thank you for the video. It helped me confirm the problem, get the new parts ordered and get it installed. It is amazing hw many bubbles my old seal had. I am hoping for a much more peaceful sleep tonight and hopefully lower water bills to come.

    Thx for the video about Ghost flushing. I'm looking at the Amazon page you recommended. The price was a surprise. It is $16.56 for a simple piece of plastic.

    Good video. My american standard does not have the black nut at the top of the flapper, it's molded in one piece into the green flapper. Any clue how to remove it in this case? Also, there are no notches in the green piece.

    Petroleum jelly on every gasket! As a hydroponic plumber I used on every Gaskin never have a leak or issue ever! So yes you should be using Petroleum jelly on gasket they just don't advertise you to do so!

    Can you use regular foodgrade pipe flange gaskets instead? Looks like a 4"flange gasket.

    Thanks! I noticed the base of my plunger is flaking black material after 9 years. Should I replace the entire thing? Also how do I get all of the water out of the tank? It stays filled to the top of the tube that this gasket sets on.

    If you use toilet cleaner drops you should try not using the manufacturer says it deteriorates the rubber I stopped and have not had a problem since

    If I buy several of these, will they keep for 3 - 6 years?

    • @checkitout2468
      @checkitout2468  Рік тому

      They will but you’ll need to replace those gaskets every two years or so. I would suggest moving over to Kohler toilets.

      Try pouring some hot water over the black knob.

    You should not have to replace any toilet part after only two years of service. I bought two of these toilets and I'm regretting my decision. They don't flush that well, very few local dealers for parts. I should have paid a little more and gotten Toto again!!

  • @bansheezs
    @bansheezs 2 роки тому +2

    its ridiculous that you have to replace it even at the 2 year mark. Any normal universal gasket last like 6 years. Stop making crap american standard. I can't even switch to a normal universal flush valve because the opening in the ceramic part of the toilet in the video is too wide for a universal one. Guess I will just replace the whole toilet and get a brand that lasts.
