Seeing akira trying to protect MIKi from ryo with his wings really gives me the chills, wow this is definitely one of those animes you will never ever forget about.
You know what this anime represents? It's not only an amazing adaptation of Go Nagai's Devilman, but it represents the type of anime we would see at random back in the day when we were little. Something odd, violent, and "adult." We don't understand what this animated thing is or where it came from, but all we DO know is that we want to see more of it. Devilman Crybaby, at least to me, is very reminiscent of anime hitting the west for the first time and blowing our minds. Those days were something else.
Fr I remember watching Bleach, Attack on Titan and Tokyo Ghoul when i was younger. It was foreign, scary and so adult. Yet i was intrigued and wanted to watch so much more
Is nobody going to talk about how Devilman Crybaby has literally the best soundtrack in anime history? Almost every main cast member has their own track and it somehow captures their personalities perfectly without any dialogue. Examples being, Miki with the soft and sweet sounding notes, where as Ryo's is very somber and monotone, difficult to read all the way, because he doesn't even understand himself. And SATAN'S track is so fuzzy and distorted, it does an absolutely mind blowing job at making the viewer uncomfortable. Not to mention how it has bops like Night Hawk that sound like you're joining a cult with more modernized elements. And then there's the ones that make you sob like To Your Eternity. As well as the irony of one of the final tracks being called Crybaby, however it's not about Akira, considering it plays during the final scene of the show. I absolutely love Synthwave music, but it honestly has such meaning in this OST, it sounds modern yet ancient at the same time, which mixes with the current world, and the demons as old as time. I will literally never shut up about this show, it's a pure masterpiece, every second of it (even the nasty ones, those have meaning as well) Not to mention I've analyzed it a bit too much, but I regret nothing. The only anime I've ever given a 10/10. Perfection.
The soundtrack is very good surely, however the show has many flaws and I don't regard it as being even close to a masterpiece - gave it 6.5 since there were too many issues with character development and pacing
@@arseniivoloshyn6860 I think both of those things were done beautifully in my opinion, because there was no happy ending therefore there is character development, just not the positive kind. Like how Ryo finally felt emotions after losing the one thing he loved, and the way his loss was expressed was absolutely beautiful. I think the pacing is actually pretty good, because they're setting you up to think that this is just a gore-fest in the beginning, and when it turns out to be so much more than that, that shock value is truly incredible. However, we all have different views, so I'll respect your opinion, however, after enough analyzing, I can safely say that DMCB is the best piece of media I've ever seen.

This opening is a perfect example of foreshadowing, and it's made so beautifully. First we see Akira protecting Miki with his wings, but then we see Ryo, introduced at 0:41, with a hole bunch of different views on his eyes, that represents a biblically accurate angel. We can then see Ryo in front of what looks like the gates of heaven, before it shows us a bunch of depictions of magical beings taking his place on the center of the screen, before showing us that this beings form into Ryo's eyeball. We can then see him look at Akira transforming into a demon. We can then see Ryo and Akira facing each other, which makes som kind of duality between the two. We can then at the end see the design of the anime's angel, also having lots of wings like the biblically accurate angels. Truly a masterpiece of an opening.
