Something I appreciate about Devilman Crybaby is that it shows the consequences of a battle between Satan and someone of similar power levels. It just wrecks the planet completely. It reminds me of what they said would happen in Supernatural if Michael and Lucifer fought but instead that storyline just ended with 2 dudes falling down a hole

I remembered watching this during the time when i was running away from home. Family fight which already made me in a bade state of mind + i got to the end with miki which gave me even more depression. I did not have a good time. Shit got me so depressed I ended up going back home that night lmao

Personally the song that comes out when Akira sees Miki chopped in pieces is Way more depressing than Devilman No Uta. I see this song more as a end credits song for a future live action devilman movie if they ever make one.

(SPOILERS AHEAD) The ending of Devilman Crybaby is sad, sure, but I honestly had a pretty wide smile on my face for one reason. Satan lost. It's perfectly shown as he talks to Akira's dead body that he actually gained nothing by wiping out humanity, but he lost everything. His status, his power, the demons, and his one and only true friend. He committed horrible acts against others, pushed humanity to its extinction, all to realize too late that his failure was scripted since the beginning. We didn't need to be shown that he lost to the angels that descended upon him as he cried for Akira's lifeless body to talk to him, because we just know he lost. You cannot fight God, and you cannot claim that you are his equal without suffering the most brutal of consequences. I do not know for sure if in this universe that God can just create another Earth. Create another humanity, even. But I bet he can. And if he is able to do that, then all Satan has gained from his needless destruction is a one-way trip to the deepest pits of Hell, maybe even someplace lower. That, and an eternity of sadness, an emotion he had never felt before.
the way i see it, is that he gained one of the best things in the world, even iif the world is gone by that time, the ability to feel, whatever it was, saddness, love, affection, compassion ect.. human race positioned itself as collateral damage, and so it was.
There’s different framing compared to the original least comparing the dialogues. A point made in the original was that the devils were nearly wiped out by angles and sealed away and Satan who felt compassion for them and saw their eradication as cruel led and was sealed with them. The ending of the manga went to parallel this as Satan looks back in retrospect and realizes he made the same errors as god and the angels did, Akira was to the humans as Satan was to the devils fighting a superior foe hell bent on eradicating what they see as filth upon the earth. From what I recall of Crybaby Satan talked much more of the personal relations he had to the people he met as Ryo. Kinda wish they kept the irony of his actions least as part of his dialogue, feeling the hypocrisy of his actions and how it made him lose the only person he cared about… could also imply how God feels about Satan in devilman where in the end the one loved the most is gone (or in this case must be punished for his actions)

Anyone watched the OG Fantasia? Literally 1:54 reminds me of the fire scene with the devil on the mountain. There's no way the creators didn't use that for inspiration for the design / style behind this remake....
