I've also never heard of that term, but it describes both me and my sister. Most days, I'm fine, then suddenly I need a cane for a few days because my left knee has decided to stop working, and then I'm fine again. For her, some days she's able to walk all the way to the store. Other days, she needs a wheelchair just to get around that same store. She has been verbally attacked at Walmart multiple times for being in a wheelchair, but then getting up and walking around a few steps. That just shows that we direly need more representation.

I have a headcanon that Epic still runs on anime mechanics and Ody still uses the windbag as a jetpack, but no one in-universe actually knows what anime is or what a jetpack is. So while we fans are out here talking about it, from inside the story Odysseus is like, "What?"
The thing I love about AliMar's Charybdis is the fact that it honestly feels like a lore accurate Charybdis. She was, iirc, originally just a normal lady who was a child of Poseidon. I forget her whole tale, but this genuinely feels like that's what the aftermath would be, or at least similar to it.
Like with many Greek figures, her history depends on the storyteller. In some, she's a daughter of Poseidon, in other she's the daughter of Gaia and Pontos, who is LITERALLY the sea (not a god of it, but the actual sea itself). In some, she pisses off the gods by attacking the land with her waves, and in others she's a glutton who eats Heracles' cattle. (Really, what was up with Greeks and eating forbidden cows?) Either way, she pisses off the gods, and Zeus chains her to the bottom of the sea, where she swallows the water 3 times a day. So the visual of her chained up at the bottom is accurate.
@rhov-anion that's actually why I love mythology so much. It has many interpretations and ways to view or tell it, but in the end, every interpretation has enough similarities in many cases that you can usually tell "yeah, this is this myth."
@@rhov-anion I belive in the ancient Greece the cattle was just super inportant for their lives, so stealing someone else's cattle was, on one hand, super common and on other hand very much frowned upon, so it got into a lots of myths.
I love the alimar because one origin of Charybdis was that she was the daughter of Poseidon, who was punished by Zeus for stealing cattle and helping her father flood lands. Zeus used a lighting bolt to anchor her to the bottom of the sea to be a whirlpool

I didn't know the specifics of your disability and while it's awful to hear that you go through it I do want to tell you that as someone else who has an invisible physical disability (I have Elhers-Danlos Syndrome myself) it really is great to not only see someone talk about it, but be representation of it. I needed this disability rep today. My Fibro flared and I can't get out of my backseat like I've gotten used to. It's made it so I can't easily care for myself and my cats, and, since I'm homeless, genuinely scares me that I just can't move easier. I've got nowhere else to dump my speculation, so I'll ramble-type it here- be it noted that I've been avoiding Ithaca Saga spoilers, so I've only got the name of one song and my knowledge of the original Odyssey to build this on. No spoilers, only speculation! (Let's see how I do as a prophet...) Anyway, I can see 5 different endings for this story, ranging from the fully tragic at level 1, going up through the happy ending spectrum to the best at level 5. My personal feeling is we'll get something around 3 or 4, but we need to wait two days to see! Level 1- Ody loses control of the monster inside of him. He gets home, sees suitors, starts to righteously smite the lot of them (rest in PIECES, Antinous!), and something gets knocked over in the brawl (lamp, candle, fireplace cookware, etc). Because he's focused on the suitors (revenge, bloodletting) he doesn't notice. Palace burns, everybody dies (🎵When does a candle become a blaze?🎵) Level 2- Ody loses control of the monster, but not to such a total degree. He gets home and something happens to set him off, and he winds up nearly hurting or actually hurting Penelope or Telemachus. Maybe he starts to take out the suitors and doesn't realize Tele is in the hall at the time; maybe he reacts badly to Penelope's trick to verify his identity. He comes to his senses, realizes that he can't stay home in this state, and that his choices to get home mean he can't have home. He goes into self-exile, walking away from everything he's been dreaming of. (🎵When does the reason become the blame?🎵) Level 3- Ody gets home, and finds his dreams of home gone. It doesn't look like he remembers, it isn't filled with people he knows or know him, and it is not the familiar dream he's held in his heart. He is home- but its not home, its not his people, (Argos dies before Ody walks in- :sob:) and his only choice is to give up his old dream of home and start the process of building a new dream with the people (Penelope! Telemachus!) in front of him. (🎵So much has changed, but I'm the same!🎵 now having multiple ironies). Level 4- Ody gets home, and realizes that the family he's had in his mind is not what's in front of him- and starts to build relationships back up, until something (maybe suitor related) triggers the monster. His new relationships start to be in jeopardy- until Athena shows up, they reconcile (with Telemachus' help, as well), and Athena helps him balance his new mindset and mediate with his people. (🎵If not his friend, then mine🎵) Level 5- Ody gets home, smites all suitors, reconciles with his wife and son, Athena as well, gets to see and pet Argos at least once more. With Athena's help, he also manages to broker peace with various over interested Gods. I have no lyrics for this one, because Jorge like breaking our hearts too much for me to have much faith in it. Level 5+ (because I agree with Casper about certain things) Ody gets home, Hades emerges, declares that by his heroic deed of carrying all the spirits of the unburied dead back from the underworld he has earned their return to life. Polities, Eury, and all come back, and everyone lives and can get the massive amounts of therapy they truly need, and everything is sunshine and nothing hurts. Thanks so much for the reactions guys!
The second theory about him going into self-imposed exile is really cool. In the original Odyssey he does have to temporarily leave Ithaca after his return due to a prophecy from Tireisius. Basically he has to travel inland until he reaches a point where people know nothing about the sea and make an offering to Poseidon to appease him. I like that your idea combines this with the themes of Epic to make a really cool and tragic ending.

Please please do check out the 600 Strike animatic by TheeArteest (the artist whose The Underworld one you have previously reacted to). Since it is a kind of a devisive song in terms of suspension of disbelief, their interpretation was the one I found most suited the lyrics and believability there. Also when you guys are doing a rewatch a reaction to NoirHyacinth's Love in Paradise might be hard to watch but absolutely exceptional in terms of expressing the emotions of that song.

Hey Casper and Mortius! If you guys ever do an alternate vengeance saga animatics video, Rosarix just today came out with a Charybdis animatic that’s taken my personal top spot so :) Even if you don’t record a reaction, I still recommend checking it out! I believe it’s their only full EPIC animatic
Please please do check out the 600 Strike animatic by TheeArteest (the artist whose The Underworld one you have previously reacted to). Since it is a kind of a devisive song in terms of suspension of disbelief, their interpretation was the one I found most suited the lyrics and believability there.
Also when you guys are doing a rewatch a reaction to NoirHyacinth's Love in Paradise might be hard to watch but absolutely exceptional in terms of expressing the emotions of that song.

If you noticed in the demo animatic, 90% of the song was already sung in the demo, so people who listened to the demo probably weren't that hyped when the song officially released its full version, i certainly felt a bit empty when i listened to the songs full version, i felt like it was missing a piece...so listening to the demo was actually a huge spoiler☠️
