Thank you very much . I bought a budget oil catch can and where I didn't spend buku dollars,it didn't come with hoses that has multiple angles coming out of it in to one . All I have is a reinforced hose. The one that came in the cat was all bent up and will not work. So this right here is going to allow me to use what I have and make it work great idea thank you
That's awesome, I literally just did the same thing with my regal LTG but with Amazon mishimoto pcv lines. I set mine up differently because in my car the LTG sits with the turbo facing front. No check engine lights and its already collecting oil vapor and no oil residue on the line from the can to the intake.
@@JarBro5555 I mounted mine to the front support, where the hood latches but over next to the drivers headlight. I used the bracket the mishimoto came with.
@@brianamo580 I would love to see your setup. I am trying to figure out how I'm going to install one on my Regal but the lines confuse me because everyone does it differently.
Thanks a bunch for your informative and clean video man. Being a christian, I have a difficult time listening to some of the garbage people post. I have a 2015 ats 2.0 t and absolutely enjoy it. I have a catted down pipe, muffler delete and aem air filter. She runs real good. I know what my next project will be. Thanks 🙏🏼
Hi, great video, thanks. I bought a catch can for my previous CTS, but sold the car, before installing it. I now own an ATS and want to install the catch can. I had exactly the same idea for the install, but than came across ZZP catch can videos. They switch the line from/to turbo with the front hose connection. Do you have any idea why, or which install is better? Thanks in advance from the Netherlands.
I took it for a 300 mile drive, checked out the catch can after, it did its job, found just a small quarter size bit of blow by oil goo. I will make another video soon after around 1000 miles of driving it and see how much blowby oil goo he catch can gets. Best of all, its not pooling in my intake tube anymore like the factory tube routing.
It is doing the job. I checked the oil in the can after a month and it had a few drops. Before I installed catch can, intake just before compressor inlet had small pool of oil. Do not have that problem anymore
The stuff that ends up in your catch can is oil mist and blowby gasses which do contain some unburned fuel from each combustion stroke. It’s better in the catchcan than in your oil sump and combustion chamber.
Does anyone know where the canister vent valve solenoid is located? 2015 ATS 2.0L Turbo. I had a check engine light, code said to replace the solenoid. Thanks!
I would follow the vent line all around the valve cover and look for a electric plug to narrow it down. You can look up the part to see what it looks like and then you can spot it easily.
TOC or trans oil cooler hose with I believe to be 1/2” ID. Can find at autozone or any other parts store that sells hose by the foot. I at the time used a hose I found on ebay but TOC hose is just as good and won’t collapse at high vacuum pressure
Hi buddy thanx for the info cheaper way to have a catch can but I can't find it anywhere on ebay the hose and that exact version of the oil catch can can u send me links thank u
Michael Boyer on my video I show the two auctions one of the catch can, one of the hose. When you go on ebay do a search on the two items I show on the video and you can find it. I just checked ebay, seems like the exact ones I purchased are not listed anymore. Can still do ebay search for catch can hose and 2 way catch can, then choose the best baffled catch can for the price .
I could run the plastic cover but I do not like how it holds heat on the engine's electronic components. I always remove the plastic covers and most of the hood shield to keep engine compartment cooler. Its a big difference driving for an hour, then open the hood and see how much heat hits you. With out the cover and insulation, very little heat is noticed when opening the hood after a drive.
What size is the tubing you used? I need the id and od, I just left Autozone with a 5/8 heater hose that fits on the t connectors on top but the braided line is bigger and that’s what I need. I hacked mine all up trying to cut it
Did you get the problem fixed? If not, can you reply with a picture so I can see what your line looks like where you cut it. When I made the cut on my catch can return, I cut the solid metal area, not on the braided part which a 5/8 ID should fit just fine.
@@madboostingmadmatt48 I cut the braided part I purchased a spare off eBay and used that one instead of mine. I threw it away. I haven’t had a chance to work on my car because I had the piston issue so they just replaced all four pistons and rods under warranty when I finally got it back a month and a half later drove it one day and the engine light came on so now it’s been sitting there for four days.
Has anyone installed a can and then noticed once operating temp is up and you turn the car off you get a "whiny honk" (like a straining to shut/slowly shutting) from the rear of the PCV system? If I connect the braided hose right back to the K&N intake (missing the can and hoses) no honk is heard when I turn the car off. So it's something to do with pressure in the system pulling back towards the crank case or perhaps releasing air into the intake, it's hard to tell. Basically, has anyone experienced this?
My catch can did not make any noises. It may be because there may be a slight leak on one of the catch can connections, or tubing leak, or the o ring on the opening is broken or not there.
Where you cut the braided line did you cut it where there’s the metal wrap or metal fitting whatever it’s called around the braided part? What did you use to cut it?
I did not cut braided area,. I cut the hard metal tube and attached rubber hose turned it towards out port of catch can. the other cut I made was the plastic tubing and attached rubber hose to go to catch can in fitting.
Its strange, I put coolant in the bottom reservoir and had the top reservoir below the line. Drive it a few hours and the bottom reservoir has less coolant and the top has more. That coolant system is different than any other vehicle I have worked on or owned.
kelvin moore burning oil blowby in the combustion chamber not good for power and efficiency. Oil mist does not burn well like fuel so to answer your question it will not make more power but it will not lose power like burning oil. Also burning oil blowby long term can foul spark plugs, make oil burned deposits on intake valves causing misfires, and can clog up catalytic converters. In the long run catch can will save you grief on the long term after 50000, 60000 miles where these problems show up and very hard to diagnose. Many videos have been made on direct injection engines getting intake valve build up which can be prevented with catch can.
kelvin moore zzperformance.com/products/zzp-catch-can. Highly recommend this zzp catch can kit, it’s reasonably priced and comes with everything you need, no guess work.

Same thing on the Camaro 2.0 turbo.. Catch can kits are expensive

I'm curious to know if the oil catch can is still performing well. Did the amount of oil in can ever increase?

I did the same setup as you an just wondering if in your catch can did you guys ever have it more gas than oil after 1000 miles

Do you have a link for the hose? I could not find one.

Any checkengine lights?
No check engine lights.
Are you able to still put the engine cover plastic on with that set up and get to your dip stick without issues?

Ok thanks I was finding oil like you were and well my #2 piston failed. It’s at the dealership being repaired.
What did you use to cut the metal part? And what size id hose fits over it and the inner diameter of the other zzp
