      With my RA issues, pretty difficult to keep it from shaking sometimes. Especially when removing a turbocharger, its very tight fit so hard to get any camera just right in those tight places. Miss the younger days when my hands were much more steady. I did not make a turbo installation video since it would most likely shake just as bad.

      Pumpkin Face My newest video is dyno tuning with the new turbo and unlocked TCM, the ZZP big wheel turbo was around $900 but with tax and shipping its $1000. Factory turbocharger could cost close to that so not too bad. The big billet compressor wheel moves more volume of boosted air so it will make good torque and power at even lower rpms than stock. My car was dyno tuned on AWD dyno and made 352 whp and 348 wheel torque. Not too bad though I was looking for more.

      It was a video where turbo is very tight quarters so filming was difficult and my hands are not very steady anymore. I remember when I made the 300zx timing belt video, the opposite was the problem, I had the camera secured with a holder so it would not shake however, not a close enough view at some parts to see everything. Trying to find that happy medium is the challenge. I hopefully will find a solution.

    What year is the ats

    • @TTATurbochargeThemAll
      @TTATurbochargeThemAll 4 роки тому +1

      it is a 2018, very difficult one to tune since the factory torque management system pulls timing and reduces throttle from the TCM. In order to get this car tuned the TCM needed to be unlocked, I had ordered one from ZZP which was unlocked, and my factory one is a spare. I am preparing a video of the dyno session for the new turbocharger and new TCM which did increase the power, the problem is a system on the 2018 ATS is still pulling timing despite turning off the torque limiting governor on the TCM. I highly recommend anyone that wants an ATS to get 2015 and earlier model, the 2016 and newer ones are too difficult and expensive to tune.

      All original intake and exhaust components can be used. I installed K&N intake, my version of performance exhaust, unlocked TCM, high flow downpipe, and catch can. I had a dyno tune done but would have preferred it done by tuning shop that knows the LTG PCM and its power robbing torque management system.

      The compressor wheel is the difference and the compressor housing had to be ported to fit the larger billet wheel. Externally doesn’t look different from stock until you look inside the compressor.

    • @TTATurbochargeThemAll
      @TTATurbochargeThemAll 3 роки тому

      A Tune would be best. The stock computer could handle it but it will pull power away from torque management system. Also highest octane fuels should be used since I have heard from many others about LTG engine having weak pistons from factory. My son drives my ATS now and I reinstalled stock tune with 91 octane fuel. So far so good. He daily drives it and likes its response. I do not recommend aftermarket intake for this engine, the stock PCM backs off power with its torque management system. I honestly would not tune this car at all if I had to do it over again. That PCM and TCM from gm prevents the great potential this engine has. I made a video of the dyno tune and dyno readings were good but real world driving I was disappointed that it didn’t feel that fast to me. I should have bought a Nissan GTR, or a more tuner friendly AWD turbo vehicle.

      @@TTATurbochargeThemAll thank you for your detailed response. Looks like I should just stay stock until I can make this a side project car if I decide. I am at 129k and my turbo already needs to be replaced so I figured I would look at my options. Since the cars paid off I figured I would have some fun with it and make some mods for the rest of my time with it. At the same time I would like it to last me as long as possible.

      Jeremy Blair it has a much larger compressor and attaches to all factory hardware so a fairly easy mod that puts out much more volume of boosted air. My mods are K&N intake, my exhaust idea which deletes factory muffler but looks completely stock on outside. I installed NGK iridium plugs gapped to .027 thousands of an inch. Installed 17x9 wheels with 245/45/17 rubber which improved my handling and more rubber for the road. Installed a banks gage pod which can read 8 engine data items at once. K&N intake kit, upgraded fresh air flow to intake by removing piece of plastic in grille. All these mods I have done videos on. Also have unlocked tcm, and PCM/TCM tune from local shop in Reno. Also have ZZP catless downpipe. My catch can idea to keep oil blowby out of intake of compressor.
