As a housecleaner I would suggest the following cleaning necessities: -microfiber cloths -swifter duster -comet,Ajax, or some form of powder cleaner for showers, toilets, tubs, and sinks. -windex because nothing else works that great for windows -multipurpose cleaner diluted in spray bottle for everyday cleaning, and wiping down of surfaces in the home. Depending on the home, you will also need something to care for granite, stainless steel, or special formulations for wood flooring. Otherwise, you’re correct in suggesting to keep it simple!

This is so useful for college grads. It's so easy to look at really rich influencers buy apartments stuff when you're broke and want to do the same thing, but you make really great, attainable points.
Neef One well you can do that to clean stuff but I’m not sure if it’ll be enough, I think the best way to make sure everything is sanitized is to use bleach (something like 4 drops per liter of water)
I use method disinfectant. I accidentally sprayed it into my face and inhaled it and had no problems. I have asthma so I can't even go into a room that's been cleaned with watered down bleach or Lysol for AT LEAST 3 hours. I love it
Just moved into a new apartment all by myself yesterday and this video was super encouraging. My apartment is suuuuper empty and I was feeling kind of uncomfortable and looking at big furniture sets on wayfair, but they I started watching apartment essentials videos and yours popped up. Thank you!
These were really good things to keep in mind. Although I will say living in a family home with no dishwasher, the dish racks are essential but that's what is so great about minimalism, you cater it to your needs. What's essential for one person may not be for another. Great video!
You right about the dish rack my first apartment my dishes barely made it to the cabinets this time around I lay a towel on the counter then put them away
i like my dish rack 😩 yes i will accumulate them in the sink first and wash all of them later and let them air dry and put them up before the end of the night its really useful
if you want appliances and there is only one or two of you, get a 7 in 1 toaster/air fryer combo. It has functions for oven, broiler, toaster, air fryer and more. Air fryers alone are huge and take up space in counters or cabinets. These can usually hold 2 servings of food anyways so you won’t make too much
Place mats help to not damage the table with cups, dishes and utensils. Even to use them to ppace the main food dishes on in the centermof the table when it is a hot dish. A nice wood table can be damaged if abused repeatedly
I hardly comment on UA-cam videos but I had to because this video was all the peace I need before moving Josie. I’m coming from ten years of living in fully furnished apartments and now moving to one that I have to furnish everything from scratch! All the other advise I was seeing was on the many things I needed to buy! This was DIFFERENT, not busy, a real heart to heart talk! I enjoyed it! I put my kind to rest and now I can rest easy! God bless you
I feel like....not all of these things are sustainable. Throwing out perfectly good items for the sake of having less doesn’t seem as sustainable as adopting full use of them and ensuring their existence as necessary
I think the video is more of a don't buy these in the first place, though if you have stuff like this that's clutter and not useful you can always just donate it to a thrift store or give it to a friend
If you don’t use an item it is a waste to keep it & it turns into clutter. Better to move it along to a new home, most people don’t just “toss” their decluttered items.
What about cleaning the oven? Ordinary spray cleaner won't do the job. Also, place mats are for protecting the table from hot plates, etc., not for easy cleaning.
a lot of people have table cloths for their tables so they don’t get ruined by alcohol, hot pans and dishes, etc. place mats prevent food from gettin on the table cloths so you don’t have to do laundry every time you eat ! :)
Did you keep your dish rack? I couldn’t live without my dish rack. Between work and home chores, I really don’t want to spend the time hand drying dishes.
Another thing about appliances is you have to clean them. My parents once bought a big elaborate roasting machine. They immediately sold it to someone when they discovered how difficult it was to clean.
Omg I am moving next year and number 8 I bought everything you just said but I have a recommendation for everyone if you still wanna purchase those items get smaller versions it will save space 😁I bought a small blender and small waffle maker because it’s me and my boyfriend only so highly recommended that for a smaller household with less space
I keep a scrub brush in my tub and scrub it down after every shower. Once a week i'll spray it down with vinegar and use baking soda to get rid of tough soap scum. But if you keep up with a scrubber and disinfect it every once in a while there's no need to use ajax or something like that.
I loved a lot of these recommendations, although I couldn’t live without my dish rack 😅 I’m barely surviving working and keeping up with most household chores so the idea of also hand drying my dishes just sounds exhausting but I do agree I don’t like them sitting in the rack when I have guest over.
I like your advice about the serving dishes. In my family, we always serve food straight from the pot/pan because who wants to clean more dishes??? Haha not me
I'm binge watching videos like these haha. Thanks for the video! At first, some of them I didn't agree with, but to be honest, they make sense! (Like the dish-rack- i do leave them there because they look fine LOL) Also, a lot of people get placemats so the dishes/whatever don't scratch the table, we have a glass table, so it's absolutely necessary to have them! :0

Sorry im not a hater, but place mats are so you dont ruin your table, like if you hace super hot food or a cold drink, it would ruin a wooden table.

You can use a coaster but if you need it then you need it
A coaster wouldn't be big enough for a dinner plate.
I’ve literally never used a place mat and my wooden table had never been ruined 😅

Placemats are good for messy food! specially if you have a wooden table or a white one that might get stained.
