After living in my first apartment for a year now, I'm going through my first apartment checklist and going over what I actually recommend buying and what's not worth it.
There are so many products to consider that it can be difficult to remember everything which is why I originally came up with this first apartment checklist. From kitchen utensils to mattresses, to cleaning products... it's hard to know what you really need!!
A year later... there are some things I bought for my first apartment that I use every day and were totally worth the money! And there are some that have not held up well.
I'm an extreme planner so for the six months before moving in, I put lists together of everything I needed to buy for my first apartment.
I made a printable version of this huge first apartment checklist so that you can use it and make sure you have everything you need. You DO NOT need to buy everything (I didn't...it's expensive!) but having a list that you can refer back to makes life so much easier.

I’m old enough to be your great grandmother but I love following you. I will be 65 this year and after being done with raising my husband and putting my daughter through ten years of college, I decided to go back to school to earn my family nurse practitioner degree! Yes, I’m a million but I’m super healthy and have a ton of good miles left on me. I’m going into my last year and I committed to train in an unserved area. I have a nice home but will have to live in an apartment for that year because I refuse to commute. I signed a lease on a little casita and can’t wait to start styling it ❤️! I just want to thank you for your check list. I'm in the process of trying to get my first apartment. I do have some of the items already, thanks to my mom, but I still need to get the apartment and plan out the arrangements of where I want to put the furniture first. And see what might fit in it. Thank God I picked out the right size dinning room table.

One year after getting everything for my first apartment, I found that there are some things I LOVE and a few I don't know if I would recommend 😬 What are you loving in your apartment?!
That it is mine (more or less - it actually belongs to family, but I'll inherit that, so it kind of already belongs to me!), that I don't have to pay rent, that I can (I am not actually moved in yet) actually paint it (I despise white as a color for walls! Every room will get painted a different color...I've already started with that!), that I'll finally have my very own (not shared with anybody!) space and internet-connection (finally nobody complaining about me downloading a lot of stuff etc.)...I'd run in terror, if I had to move in with anybody! I need my me-time after work (otherwise I'd go nuclear on the person bothering me!)!
I was lucky that my parents owned a large amount of land and got a little shed built so that my siblings and I could have a place to store stuff for our houses for when we move out and have us a few things for when we move out for christmas leading up to when we all finished school

Could you PLEASEEE make a video about your experience getting a storage unit before actually moving into your apartment?! Maybe about any insurances and how long you had a storage , stuff like that? I’m debating on getting one while I begin my journey of moving out. I appreciate your videos and content!!!! :)
Oh my god that’s my exact plan . Getting a storage unit and buying everything little by little until I get everything so by the time I move out ( end of the year 🤞🏾) I’ll be set ! I say go for it !

Rugs and carpets hm? Nah...I will be moving soon and one of the things on the TO-DO-List is removing all rugs and carpets from my new place (I don't like them, too hard to keep clean!)...ever stepped on carpet that hasn't been kept clean? Yeah, I don't like huge dust clouds!

it’s not wise to skimp on the cookware, especially pans. cheaper made can be more toxic if misused and abused. it really doesn’t work the same either especially if they’re leeching chemicals into the food you’re eating

You probably need to clean your dish washer, that's why you get that film on the glasses. Buy one of those things you put in the dishwasher, then turn it on.
