My generation was so fortunate to have Madonna in her prime. Every song would pack the dance floor. They even made a dance version of "Don't cry for me Argentina" so we could dance to her slow songs too!!

Yesss I remember that. Any Madonna song 🎵 would come on and the bar and bathrooms emptied and the ground would shake from the dance floor. 🕺
So right. My favourite was "Like a Prayer" and it always used to get us all on to the dancefloor and singing it at the top of our lungs. I'd do anything to just experience those carefree days again!

This song is severely underrated and unknown.... It just captures the essence of the '90s and early 2000s and just in the song you could just hear her absolutely needing to "be rescued"... One of her finest I'll say that!
This song was a huge success and reached # 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100, certified GOLD and did really well all over the world.

You definitely need to check out the remixes for this one, especially the 'Titanic Vocal Mix'. It's worth its own reaction video. If you can sit still through that one you're basically dead.

Alright Dereck, here is what I know; Madonna was the first artist to bring house music into the global mainstream with Vogue and Rescue Me was the continuation of that experiment. She never performed it live. For MTV's 10th Year Anniversary, she wanted to do Titanic themed live performance with water and fire special effects, which would have served as a music video after. They couldn't do it in time and Madonna was mad about it so she never went back to the idea of shooting a video for this amazing single; would definitely hit number one with a video. This song is definitely one of my favorites by Madonna. It has some elements of Vogue, Like a Prayer, Justify My Love, and as a new track and the last track on 1990's greatest hits compilation The Immaculate Collection, it foreshadowed the 1992 Erotica album.
Yet another underrated song by madonna, there was no promotion for it. Could you imagine the video to go with this track
Junior Vasquez and Madonna's friendship ended after he released his song "If Madonna Calls" which used without permission, a voice message she left on his answering machine. Junior's still hoping for them to be friends again.
And during the release of Rescue Me, the group Deee-Lite had a house dance song called Power of Love which also has the line "I Believe In The Power Of Love". Some fans of Deee-Lite claim Madonna copied Deee-Lite. Who knows if that was the case.

Another one of my faves! I have all M's 12" vinyl maxi singles. I was a remix fanatic(still am). Wish she made a video for this song, but as you just now said it wasn't supposed to be released as a single. Have a deep love of the "Shep Pettibone" era of Madonna the most. You can just hear Shep's sound with all who he worked with! Very clubby/house sounds from him. Thanks Dereck!

This song was sooooo good when it came out. It had that poetry vibe that Justify had, plus the Vogue-esque instrumentation. "And have the courage to love me for me"

Rescue Me is by far 1 of Madonna's best songs during this era & this song doesn't get the credit it deserves & It's such an incredible song & as it was released with Justify My Love on her Immaculate Collection & I love both songs & I love how she speaks & sings on both songs they both have such different sounds.
Madonna has had 11 Tours & I've been so lucky to have been to 10 of her 11 Tours. The Only Tour I missed was her Virgin Tour 1985 other than that I've seen her Who's That Girl Tour 1987, Blonde Ambition Tour 1990, The Girlie Show 1993, Drowned World Tour 2001, Re-Invention Tour 2004, Confessions Tour 2006, Sticky & Sweet 2008, MDNA Tour 2012, Rebel Heart Tour 2015, Madame X Tour 2019 (The Madame X Tour was by far my least Fav Tour) & I've always wished she would perform it & the closest we got to hear it live was on her Madame X tour when she had a very weird & Bizarre Video Interlude that was so strange. When people watch it on UA-cam or Paramount+ it may come across as cool or interesting but being there live it was like Oh ok this is a bathroom break part.

One of the biggest regrets among Madonna fans is that she never made a video for this single and that she never performed it live in concert. It wasn't until 2019 that she dug it out of her Pandora's box to use snippets of it as an interlude in her Madame X Tour. The link between this song and Vogue is producer Shep Pettibone, who helped defined her sound during this period. The lyrics, I believe, are utterly brilliant and showcase her individual songwriting skills. It disappeared as a footnote in history as she continued on with her career, but Madonna fans have kept this alive as an almost-cult-like favorite.

The banana dance im shook
Back then in the late 1980's & early 1990's this kind of talking is considered as 'rapping.' This was the mainstream rap with simple hook/chorus. Yeah, this was a mainstream old school rap kinda song although it's not technically hip-hop. Well, you don't have to have a hip-hop song for some rapping. Just like how Spice Girls did with the Wannabe song in mid 1990's.
