I know this video is 5 yrs old, but i have the 950p and just received the new uv980h radio. Like both of them. the 980 uses the same programming software as the 950p. When programming the 980 just blank out the xmit on the ones you want to receive if they are out of band on the xmit side so the program will write to the radio. It will give you out of band error and refuse to write to the radio.
wish they would put proper N-Sockets on these radio's and not cheap SO-239 apart from that looks good,smells of Yaesu FT-8900 copy, be interesting to see if performance side by side the same?
The big issue I have with these types of radios is that they are FM only. On 10 meters the only FM is a couple of repeater pairs and one simplex channel. If these types of radios could do AM and SSB along with FM; you would have a winner. It would be a great radio for new hams with technician licenses.
i received a 950 radio for christmas and have a problem that i cant get an answer to, i programed 10 frequencies into memory and confirmed that they are in memory. i then put the radio into scan mode and it will only scan 4 out of the ten that are in memory. emailing wouxun was no help as all they told me was what frequencies the a&b sides of the radio are capable of receiving. no help there. i tryed going to scan blocks and highlighted "all" but again the only channels that it scans is 1-4. frustrating to say the least.
Can this Radio make a Cross-Band Repeater without a Digital delay over a Memeory? Can i turn off the PipPipPip on the Keys and is it possible to make the Girls Voice insert silent? Reason the Buttons make a "click" so it is not nesseccary to hear everytime this Pippipip... Thank you & Best Regards
Hi there. Do you know how to set a priority channel in this radio? The manual doesn't say anything about it. It only refers to it in menu no. 23 where I can activate or deactivate priority channel switch ... but even so it doesn't say what it actually does. Thank you.
So the radio will crossband. but what does it mean to same band on two combined radios on the same band? I get the same band part. But I've never heard of "combined radios". How and what does that mean?

The TYT 9800 gets much better reviews and I love my own TYT 9800. I have a great time with it in the mobile during band openings on 10 and 6 meters
And its 100 bucks cheaper too! But I want the TYT for base communications from home and it is mobile only?

My 9800 is garbage. I just got the KG-UV980P. Wouxan is great

The KG-UV950P will do AM and SW as well as FM. It just does not do SSB.

Why would anyone build an AM/FM 6m and 10m even if an after thought and not include SSB? Really you can do with out AM.
What modes will this radio do will it do SSB,am, and FM or is it just another useless 10m bad radio for a technician
I like the handset but is it back lit for night driving?
Michael, yes it is backlit. The hand mic also has a switch to turn the backlight on and off.
