  • Not a very long one but there were many things not even I knew about our good old friend Uther. He's just such a cool and mythical caster.
    Hope you all enjoyed it nonetheless! Be sure to let me know what character you want me to cover cause i have NO CLUE what to follow this up with. Give me ideas!

    I think the Light as a force is so damn interesting. I might actually make a full video just for it, to explain how deep that rabit hole goes alongside all its rules and restrictions.

    If you do the quest for Shadowmourne, you have to go to the place where Arthas found Frostmourne and dropped his hammer, Light's Justice. So, in fact, Light's Justice was Arthas' mace. (This is just to clarify that Arthas did NOT hold Uther's hammer at all since when he killed him (where he may have gotten his hands on it), he already had Frostmourne and therefore, he never used Uther's mace in battle. However it is possible that he simply took it with him after the battle for Andorhal was over.)

    @josephsorbello4109 9 років тому

    Actually uther's soul was released from Frostmourne in Wrath of the lichking. When he was trapped in it in the halls of reflection he manifested to Jaina Proudmoore, this was the first time we learned that there must always be a lichking before King Terenas Menethil (who was also in Froustmourne) also stated it after you kill Arthas in ICC

    Good video overall, just because I'm a huge lore nerd thought I'd point out at Blackrock Spire Uther wasn't the deciding factor. It was Turalyon picking up Lothar's shattered sword and leading the charge. The statue you were showing at the time wasn't to Uther it was in Lothar's honor. (Not trying to be mean but sometimes I have a hard time understanding what you say so I'm not sure if you were saying Uther/the paladins were the deciding factor of Blackrock or just played a big part).
    Also was a bit surprised someone that plays the Horde didn't touch on the Horde only quest to desecrate Uther's tomb because of the bitter hatred the Blood Elves feel for him since he didn't stand up to Arthas.
    Was initially going to point out the Trollbanes were the ones that discovered the deceit of Perenold, but depending on your source it was either Proudmoores fleet or Uther while the Trollbanes were the ones to storm Alterac.

    • @MrRhexx
      @MrRhexx  10 років тому

      Yeah I was afraid people were going to get the impression that i was alluding the Statue was Uther or Turelyon, when in fact it is Lothar. It's one of the only landmarks you can get footage of from that war so I wanted to put it on screen. Sorry for that confusion in that regard.
      I do know the story does say, very specifically actually, that it was Turalyon who changed the battle that day. I just didn't wanted to take the light away from Uther (pun non intended). Uther was indeed a very important factor in the winning though, as you said.
      I do feel kinda bad to not point out the quest though, when I was writing the script it totally slipped. :(
      Thanks for commenting!

      It happens, when you're covering the history all the various stories in as much detail as you use do some things get left out or confused at times. I've just been playing the series since Orcs and Humans first came out so I've got almost 20 years experience with the series as cheesy as the story gets sometimes I love it.

    I would really really love to know more about a few places with little lore such as Felwood, Winterspring, Ungoro Crater, and possibly Feralis and Desolace. There's so little I know about those places. Maybe combine them into a video on their own?

    I think your videos are really good lore wise (with some minor issues) and also highly entertaining. Could you do me a favor and make a video about Illidan Stormrage. He is one of my favorite hero's from the Warcraft universe and I think he is sadly misunderstood by many. I also think it's sad the way it worked out in TBC just using him only as an end boss because he got such a rich backstory.

    Nice vid, however let me correct. The powers of the light does not fade by doing bad things, look at blood elves, arthas’ culling of strat and the light wielding DK in Naxx, the light is faithful to anyone as long they believe they are doing the right thing and believe in it, for both good and evil deeds

      ***** I like more Uther s hammer.
      Same as i like Uther more than Thirion. Lightbringer was true Ally,first pally,most powerfull ever.
      Thirion and Ashbringer wont achieve that status. Only one who is left to be biger than Uther is Turaylon,and maybe it will be last expansion.
      Thou i strongly belive in Blizz idea that Anduin will be paladin in last expac and will be leader of Azeroth to counter BL.
      It would be Lore redemption for Arthas.

    The thing you said about light is not exactly true, the light doesn't decide what's right and what's wrong, as long as YOU believe in your hearth, 100% dedication to your cause, the light will support you. But if there's even a small amount of doubt, the light will fade away greatly.

    Sorry for the confusion guys! I am aware that the power of light itself doesn't work specifically as I described it. I was describing the philosophy towards the light as taught by the Church of Light. Which was the establishment that Uther belonged to and was what he believed in.
    The light itself, as a force, has its own rules that don't necesarily apply to this philosophy and I'll make a video on that to cover it.

    • @T23Productions
      @T23Productions 10 років тому +2

      Red Eyed Banshee Not really. Arthas is named after Arthur but I'd say the Arthas/Uther relationship is more similar to Anakin/Obi Wan. His love of his pupil blinded him to the evils Arthas was committing and made him unable to strike Arthas down like he should have after the Culling. Arthas and Kel'Thuzad reflect more of a Arthur/Merlin relationship with KT being his advisor that initially sets him on his path and helps him become the LichKing after breaking free of the Burning Legion.

    • @gracchiii5232
      @gracchiii5232 10 років тому

      T23Productions Yeah, I was referring to the relationship stuff, and stuff like that, both (Anakin and Arthas) blinded by power and turned evil, both also slew their old mentors, in their new fancy clothes and with their new weapon.

    Not every paladin on Azeroth likes Uther. There is this guy, a blood elf, in the Bulwark- Mehlar Dawnblade, who is a bloodknight. "He harbors deep hatred toward his former mentor, Uther the Lightbringer, for teaching Arthas in the way of the paladin, believing he was responsible for Arthas' betrayal and the subsequent destruction of Quel'Thalas." - WoW Wiki

    Your mention of Uther's hammer being possibly taken by the Scourge, while plausible does have a hole. Anything touched by the Light or empowered can not be handled by unholy creations such as the Scourge. They would have been burned by the weapon. Remember Ashbringer in the pits of Utgarde Keep? How when you retrieved it and ran through the endless sea of undead, they fled as the weapon unleashed the light? Maybe, just maybe the hammer has been hidden for the day when someone deemed worthy will wield it.

    It's how much faith you have that powers the light wothin

  • @gromgardenlor
    @gromgardenlor 9 років тому

    You dont need to be good or help anyone to be aligned with the light all you have to do is have faith in yourself, You have to be absolute about your cause and that it is just and you have to be confident in yourself without any doubt about yourself. So you can be "evil" and still wield the light as long as you believe in yourself and your cause. Which also makes sense because as we can see the wow "religion" around the light as based alot on christianity and faith is the most important thing there, as wow doesnt really have a god attatched to the light but it being an actual force it makes sense that faith in yourself and cause would be what attracts the light. Take the scarlet crusade for an example... not very good people, they torture and they murder but still wield the light, they are fanatics and have no doubt in their mind that their cause is just and believe in what they do and that is why they can use the light. Also the forsaken can use the light aswell even if they are evil and of the darkness. It is not common and it physically hurts them to use the light and even be healed by it but with immense will power and belief in what they are and what they are doing they can use it.

    • @Jaridavin
      @Jaridavin 9 років тому

      gromgardenlor Just to add onto the undead here a little bit (great job explaining it by the way.) They're the best example of a Shadow priest, which looks at the other side of the coin and uses dark shadow magics to twist their enemies. It can go from torture, to control, to the destruction of their very minds. One important thing about your Cult of the Forgotten Shadow though is they do not forget about the light. Even if they felt abandoned by it, they respect that both sides are still needed. Just... They'd prefer not since it causing great amounts of pain to use the light.
