- Honestly I always thought they were cool as hell. The statues from the altars used to be the background of the World of Warcraft launcher back in vanilla and they always looked ominous. The statues are also the same as the ones from the dark portal and I think they are supposed to be a representation of the shadow council. Isn't that just...cool? :D

Cho'gall was already a mage before the Altar of Storms.
He helped Gul'dan make more ogre mages while the horde under command of doomhammer attacked the elven kingdom (Silvermoon)
Correction: Cho'Gall was able to wield magic before the altar of storms. He was found by Gul'Dan as a child and Gul'Dan made him his apprentice (at the time, Gul'Dan was an apprentice himself) because of his extremely rare condition of being born with two heads. This condition made Cho'Gall one of the smartest living ogre and is the reason he has been wielding megic since before the altar of storms.
power of the old gods? old gods had nothing to do with the altar of storms, and Cho'gal was always a mage, he was 1 of the rare ogres born with 2 heads and advanced intellect
I always wondered what those statues were in outland. Don't think I've seen any in Draenor yet though.

That's not actaully true, although the change in skin color is a thing, the main change for Ogre Magi is that they grow a second head.
cho'gall wasn't just a brut headed oger he was born to be a magi....just read tides of darkness when guldan was talking about him

The only thing wrong with this was that Gul'dan never used the power of the old gods and the shadow council weren't an orc clan but a group of warlocks following Gul'dan.
Such an awesome series, keep doing; what you're doing. You should do an origins story for each Hearth Stone hero, but I'm still loving the worldly lore of the realm. So thanks!! :D

The part about Cho'Gall isnt right I think.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he was the only natural 2 headed oger which was also able to use magic. (for a looooooong time) . I think Nobel confirmed this in his videos.
And if Im wrong here, can u explain why the Ogers in Draenor (well the WoD past stuff) have a MAGE-King? In the WoD story Gul'dan didnt have much contact with the Ogers, even Cho Gall was hated by he his own race for following Gul'dan.
+z3yjIn they butchered the wod story, gul'dan was the one who empowered the ogres, he was also the one that did whatever he did to give the ogres two heads, there was never a natural 2 headed ogre if im correct... so that makes the things that happen on alternate draenor practically irrelevant just because it is soo far off from what has been established as cannon, also i think alternate draenor is just that... a world from a timeline where things happened drastically different from ours, so even though they didnt explain shit it wudnt have been hard to rationalize why something on draenor isnt the same... u cud just say o its an alternate reality. but they didnt, they just wanted to turn a scenario into an expansion ps. if there was natural 2 headed ogres i wudnt be suprised, due to the fact that i dont like ogres so idk that much about them.

I'm glad the Iron Horde won't be full of Warlocks, because in WoD's pre-expansion patch the IH will come through the Dark Portal and take the Blasted Lands and Blackrock Spires (locations of two Altars)... SO GLAD!
I still play that old Warcraft game. Often have the Dreadlord hero (Undead) with a bunch of Gargoyles. Ziggurats though are the shit!

The Heroes of the Storm start/revive zone is called a Nexus, similar in name to the whole realm that the matches all currently take place in. They may share cursory similarities to Warcraft but no maps have been based in previous Blizzard worlds yet. Not Altars of Storms.

Great video. We need more WoW lore tellers. More informative than others on UA-cam. You didnt have to make a weird voice or an unheard of accent to intrigue your viewers..
Cho'gull was the most powerful magi of his race that ain't satin much to be sure but Gul'dan took him under his and if u remember a old quest in wc2 was to bring cho'gull to the rune stone to help in the tapping of it's power

2:01 that's Ogre Magi from Dota 2, not Warcraft. A natural mistake.
They are same thing .. Many Dota 2 champions are actually Warcraft characters..

Is it possible that when heroes die in WoW Legion to give us their Artifact weapons, they can be revived using the Altar of Storms because Illidan knows how to use them because he is like 10,000 years old.
+MrHobosFTW illidan has not been educated on dark energy, only demonic energy and the magic energy from the well of eternity... also illidan was imprisoned for those 10k years and therefore the only way he would know about the altars is if he gained all guldans knowledge from his skull. im not too educated on what did and did not happen when he absorbed the skull

Although, since Gul'Dan will be back with Warlords, will it really be forever lost?
Did the alternate/past Gul'Dan learn yet how to make the Altars, and if he hasn't, would he still learn even with the RADICAL change in the timeline?
I'd say he hasn't since he's yet to go to Azeroth and discover the magic of the Highborne. That said who knows what'll happen over the course of the expansion.
