    I need to send out a big THANK YOU to you! About a week ago, my 15 yr old came to me in a panic because a Yellow Jacket got inside the kitchen. She has a huge fear of Yellow Jackets. She lost track of where it went and was convinced it would A) sting her out of hate, or, B) Build a nest in her room. I was able to explain all that you have taught us about their behavior and life cycles to ease her mind. I also told her to watch the window, it would definately find its way there. I was right and was able to catch it (and release it). So, THANK YOU for all you do to educate us. It goes farther than you know! Thanks and praise from Peterborough Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ♥️

    I'm honestly confused how docile these are. I live in Germany, why are our Yellow Jackets here out for blood every chance they get? You are completly destroying their nest and they barely have any reaction but when I want to have some fries in peace I have to fear for my life?!

      Not sure if you still need to know, but these are anthic which are way more docile than the other kind of German yellow jackets. The other kind are very aggressive

  • @trialnterror
    @trialnterror 9 місяців тому +16

    I just went to battle with a huge nest in my soffit on the second floor above my front entrance. Got um at night. They were being aggressive when we would use the front door. I have some more wasps that are still hanging around and I have to find a good way to follow them back to their nests. Your my favorite warrior when it comes to battling these guys! Love the animals!! Especially Rhea!

    • @hydraxc2478
      @hydraxc2478 9 місяців тому +3

      I learned a way. In Hawaii, yellowjackets are invasive and they send teams out to deal with them. Essentially, leave a piece of chicken out and when it comes to grab it and flies away, follow it the direction it left to. Once you lose sight, repeat until you've located nest. Just a thought.

    I only watch these to see the part where the animals are fed. All the various voices/tones/sounds depending on the animal takes mastery! As humans talking to pets, it’s always innate and a habit and it shows you a different side to that person. My favorite “dog voice” I’ve ever heard is my neighbors daughter. Can’t even mimic it if I tried, but if I heard it as a dog, I’d love it.

    I went to war with an Eastern Yellow Jacket nest located under my deck a couple weeks ago. I have been resurfacing my deck and noticed an increasing amount of activity throughout the Summer from an area where a hot tub electrical box runs conduit under the deck. I can't see the nest until I actually get to removing the planks against the house. About a week ago I bombed the nest with two bug grenades after dark. After doing this, I heard a huge amount of humming coming from the basement wall. Honestly, it creeped me out big time and made me think the nest may be way bigger than I first thought. After about 15 minutes the nest went quiet. The next day I treated the acess hole with Sevin Dust and also shot a bunch of it up into the area of the upper foundation inside the basement, where I think the nest is. I noticed a slight rebounding of activity no doubt due to larvae hatching. A week later and I still find a few Yellow Jackets in the basement but they are almost dead most of the time. My big problem is I have noticed a rotten odor coming from that corner of the basement. Not yet knowing exactly where this nest is until I get the rest of the deck stripped off. I am hoping it is not up in the siding. I will know in a few days when the rest of the decking comes off. My question is, when I remove the nest, what do I use to eliminate that stench?
