  • I removed 2 bald faced hornet nests for 2 different clients. The one nest, Josh from @JustJoshingHere joined me to help remove a VERY active Hornets nest! We vacuumed everyone up and took the nest down!
Check out Just Joshing on UA-cam for his awesome content!
    / @justjoshinghere
The second nest I removed, I demonstrate the importance of removing ALL the foragers after bagging a nest for a removal method.
Some UA-camrs will bag yellow jacket and hornets nests, and not show on camera all the returning foragers swarming in the area, and most likely, they just spray the wasps off camera. So I wanted to show what really happens when the camera is turned off, and what I do to remove all the returning foragers!
Check out Shawn Woods @ShawnWoodsMousetrapMonday over on his UA-cam channel for some of his awesome mousetrap content! Shawn has also been posting some interesting wasp nest removal videos, and has even been inspired to share his nests with HIS birds, just like Yours Truly! So go check him out and tell him Hornet King sent you!

I found this channel because my house had a huge wasp problem (my dads house is a magnet to them in the attic where I stayed, due to the wood they used to build it) and every summer they’d infest the house. I used to be terrified of them but you educated me to the point where I can walk up to a paper wasp nest, pull it down and tweeze the larva down where the older me would’ve ran and screamed in terror at the sight of them. I really appreciate how educational your videos are and how you’ve taught me so much about a species I would’ve likely lived in long term fear of because I didn’t understand them. In fact I started feeding a wasp nectar and it’s gotten to the point where I was able to “tame” it for the summer. I will be sad when it dies out in the fall but I look forward to meeting its offspring in the next summer. Thank you hornet king

There was a wasp nest I tried to remove once, It was a small one. I attempted to learn waspanese to communicate with them but OF COURSE they spoke a different dialect, so it was a barrier. A few weeks of dialogue ensued, but we frequently ran into roadblocks on swarm policy and nest location policy. The Queen had run a campaign durring nest construction about nest pride and it was still too fresh in the minds of the workers to easily relocate, even to a better location. Talks went on less fequently untill the bay of bird bathia incident when while on a diplomatic mission to speak to some worker wasps, I was stung 2 times. I had a letter sent to the nest stating this was an act of war and they had 3 days to move out. They failed to do so and I was forced to unleash tactical chemical weapons on the nest.

I recently saw a video of a guy using gorilla glue spray on a bald faced hornet nest, and i couldn't help but think that it was really cruel and inhumane. Not to mention that he forgot about all the foregers that still had to come back. I learned this from you, Hornet King. Thank you for the education, and thank you for doing things the RIGHT way.😊

Have you ever thought about doing a historical video on how people used to take care of wasps and hornets? Obviously they still would have used some type of thick clothing to avoid stings, but I'm curious as to what they used to take care of nests in problem areas before things like vacuums and strong insecticides were invented.

Cicada killers aren't too bad, aside from being huge. They're solitary, so you won't ever get swarmed by them, and I don't think they're particularly territorial. :) The first one I ever saw was in my car right on my armrest while I was driving, it was startling to say the least. 😅

Following you for a while and your content has made me more comfortable around wasps. They don't bother me at all. There's a large HVAC unit that produces a reliable water source where I work, and I am aware of the dedicated flight paths (being in an Aviation background). I have to walk this path all day every day to make sure my workers are good and send info up to my bosses. Also, there is a nest outside the front door of the building I live in that I have been watching grow all summer. It's fascinating to watch the Ladies work. It's the little things in life, Keep Rockin Hornet King!

The easiest way to remove a wasp nest and protect yourself properly, as a house owner, is to check out your house regularly at summer and late spring, cause if you locate a wasp nest at early stage, when it's just one small comb with a dozen active workers or something around that, and it's in any reasonably reachable space, is to just come back at night and casually pack the nest into a bag, like using a bag to wrap around the nest and then just pull it out of the wall/ceiling/roofing and tying the bag. When i was a kid i used to help my grandma remove nests like this, she lives in the countryside... well it's more like a small village far from any city, and her house was really small and old, and it's located at the very end of the village, even separated from the rest by bushes. The house is basically aside of the village, with its own dirt road and a lot of meadows and bushes around it - basically an insect heaven. Her attic was like a wasp spawn point, and the roof was very low and sloped, so you would enter the attic, in its entirety it was maybe like 6x10 meters at max, but i might even remember it as bigger as it was years since i was there at the attic, and the highest point would be right above my head, so when i passed anything hanging there, or a roofing log, i'd have to duck. Every summer there was between 5 and 12 nests there just scattered across the rooftiles. We used to go there at night with plastic bags and just load them starting from the entrance. One time it was in the middle of the summer and some of the combs were already like 2 layers and 30 cm diameter. One time a nest fell down and we had to run, mostly from panic, as the wasps weren't really instantly attack, i believe two launched at us and we panicked.
We then usually made a campfire and burned them all.
There was also a barn that was a lot bigger and there we only scooped nests that were on the outside under the roof as we could reach that from ladder, but those high above in the middle of the roof sometimes grew to tremendous sizes.
Anyways just check your attic early to mid summer like every few days and if you see a small nest being built - scoop it up at night when all of the workers are nesting, with them on it, and then deal with them however you please - just make sure the bag is sealed tight and it has no holes! Otherwise it's a big no-no.

      (video is long gone) ..

I was hoping to see the squirrel. When i was a kid, we had a neighbor that my dad called, Merle the squirrel. Myrle was famous for borrowing everything then never bringing it back. He almost looked and acted like Kramer. They could have been twins
