I've got to hand it to Capcom, they definitely picked the right voice actor for Seth.
Darkstar263 i think that is the same guy who did cells voice from DBZ. i might be wrong but i am going to check but i think its him
NewGamingOrder That's not the voice of Cell. Seth is voiced by Michael McConnohie and Cell is voiced by Dameon Clarke.
they souds a lot alike. after looking you are right.
@109556538155963604957 It's an easy mistake to make. Though coincidentally, there actually are some DBZ voice actors in these games. The guy who voices Ryu, Kyle Hebert is the voice of Adult Gohan. Chun-li is voiced by Laura Bailey who is known for voicing Kid Trunks. Balrog is voiced by Bob Carter who voiced Bojack. I've done some more digging. Apparently Dameon Clarke did in fact voice someone. He's the voice of Rolento in Street Fighter X Tekken and Ultra Street Fighter IV.
Darkstar263 dude inbox me lol i want you on my podcast special to talk about that. lol
Love him or hate him, his speech about his goals was pretty damn powerful...

Whose speech tho?
@Dante Yoshimoto Everything's an experience. I think its cool that you did that regardless of it not going the way you wanted it to

Have to admit, Seth's philosophy on humans is pretty interesting.
Plus there is some truth to what he's saying.
+Wrathinside I'm sorry, but I can't just agree with you like "Cornish Gibs" because wat you speak is so true that I feel you need to be responded to with 2 cents included. The antagonist are usually the guys that are willing to do wat needs to be done for some distorted reason that has some truth/validity to it however is usually far from either moral, fair or legal. While the good guys, like you said, babble some cliche speech about righteousness, love, etc & awaken the power to overcome all odds & it's happily ever after type of ending. Your message was wonderfully said.
+Wrathinside What did you want Seth to win?
Morons.
C
Yeah, you are the result of the modern generation. Laws(can be changed) = opinion. Morals(can be ignored) = opinion. Philosophy(can be discredited) = opinion. Religion(can be banned) = opinion.
And what's the most important part of the modern age? That nobody's opinion, ever, matters. Only terrorism wins.
No offense, but when people ever try to call something an opinion, I feel like the world is dying one more human at a time.
C
*grabs popcorn*
So... you prefer to believe facts only, yet you actually support the idea of god, while evolution is probably more proven than the existence of a god.
I didn't mean to insult you too much, like I said, I'm just tired of seeing this modern trend of devaluing opinions on general principle.
But I'm afraid you are missing the point. See, the goal of faith is to be... faith. That's the one thing that separates faith from what we are talking about - opinion. Faith does not require opinions. Nor does faith require facts. Don't ever listen to the "faith without deeds is worthless", it's a paraphrase of "call to arms".
So, in fact, if you believe in god - you don't need to care whether some asshole does not. You don't need a religion that brings you the best literature to describe a god. And you do not need some historical proof of Jesus' existence of the scientifically confirmed existence of miracles.
Now back to the opinion, and to the problem of it. While it is true that freedom of opinion has recently caused a lot of shit and it's not blameless itself. But philosophy existed before the freedom of opinions, and while I admit - your description of it is "sharp" - your goal is unclear.
See, if you like wiki, then here you go: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy
Opinion, as basic as it gets, is ultimately an argument of a colorblind person with a normal person over how does a rose look.
Philosophy, on the other hand, seeks the reason why they even argue.
And since, I assume, what triggered you was the wording of the line "Seth's philosophy on humans" - let me explain:
Seth's opinion would've been "you suck, because you are a coward and cowards fear power". Well, could be said in a more rhetoric tone, but the point would be direct.
Seth, on the other hand, talked exactly about why does Ryu seek power, how do humans live, what to do with power.
Yes, technically philosophy could be called an opinion. Any philosophy. From pseudo to the most prominent. But that's why I said it is dangerous to discredit these terms - you lose the point of it all.
As I said in the first post - everything can be brought down to opinions. Yet some opinions emerge as laws. Some as morals. Some as scientific discoveries. Some as doctrines and standards. That's the bane of XXI century - what used to be set in stone - is turned into opinion and devalued.
So while a normal person automatically, instinctively defined Seth's monologue as philosophy, the "overt perspective" of something - you degraded it into opinion. I could assume you simply disagree, but I suppose you are above such tactics. You probably thought that his "opinion" is nothing special, despite what people tout here as something "interesting".
And this, ultimately, is... I know I'm derailing too much, but point is a point... the reason why not everything can be an opinion. Think about democracy, why was it so popular, yet so false. People believed they had a voice in it, they had their opinions and they mattered. Yet it only turned out into social war. Because if some opinions end up winning - this automatically means the others are wrong. Just because of the numbers, not facts or principles. This is why there exist other terms, philosophy among them - to mean something else, to be more than just "opinion".
It's your choice of how to perceive it, granted, but it's not your choice of how to call it. Civilization has evolved, because some opinions stood stronger than the others, for good reason, and if we start calling everything "opinions" - we'll be no better than monkeys screaming at each other in a zoo.
P.S.: If anything, I support your position about facts. That's the difference between an opinion and... everything else. In this context, for example, how this thread went from the beginning - while Seth has spoken clearly and, like you, very sharply, it was perceived as philosophy.
Ryu, on the other hand, blabbered something "evil, protecting good, ultimate power" and got a power-up. That was... well, it wasn't exactly enough to be called an opinion.
3:18: Seth supposedly snaps Ryu's neck.

Exactly... he is badass in every way
Tyrell Williams except for the part where he dies in the games that he debut's in.
He's a shit tier poo ass who's only gimmick is he's so boring he has to steal everyone else's power
Seth is not a villain. He is literally a puppet made by a soul snatched to get beat up to harbor shadow power. Facepalm. Fucking idiot
I think his voice actor also voices Kano in Mortal Kombat 9 and 10
Interesting speech and great voice work from Seth. Ironically, the power to move forward is what Ryu finally attains with the "Power of Nothingness," the COUNTER to the Satsui no Hadou, and the power that defeats not only Seth, but his creator M.Bison. Both Seth and Bison have the same philosophy that "power is power," but neither realized they picked the wrong power.
Seth, Bison, and Clarkson.
They let power control them and not the other way around.
I want street fighter to be back as an anime !
Street Fighter always an had anime feel to it.
@@Blackwolfninja89 lol 5 years later you expect response though whatever it is an anime but for the next season it'll probably be a while and if not it leaves you with a cliffhanger like most animes which is sad because there are so many higher quality that don't get another season. Though because this is a game based anime it has a higher chance though depends on the creators of course which will probably do so on the next game they make because we still been on the same street fighter this entire generation.
No thank you
@Victor otero uh ok

They could have an anime that could keep up with the modern greats ... Buuuuut no ??
Till this day for many many many years.. Seth's Speech and Ryu's Answer has taught me a lot about "The way people should be truly living." Hone your talents, Know what is truly right within your self, Who cares what others think as long as you yourself know it is 100% true. So for example Seths speech is the World.. And Ryu's Answer is your sub-consciousness. (our potential is limitless when we fight for what is truly correct to the T)

Fax bro childhood memories
This movie could have given better fights in terms of choreography
The plot was slow in this film at the beginning but efficient in the context, it is not bad, it is good and it is canon forming the art of the History of SF4
The battle of Ryu vs Seth and the speech was sublime on both sides, it just lacked more action
Hopefully Capcom, together with an animation studio, will make an anime adapting the complete Lore such as Ryu, Ken and Chunli being the protagonists and of course my favorite character Sakura
Ryu gets beat up badly and uses a Shoryuken only for it to be useless. I almost thought I was playing Ryu, except he actually won so.
What an epic scene, classic movie!
It is an internal struggle in which Ryu searches for authentic strength and his true potential through virtue, justice and courage, to do good and free the world from evil. However, the first on his journey must be the one who frees himself from this internal evil that stalks him and from his demon, Akuma.
To be able to live peacefully until finally living with his friends and establishing a Dojo

See, the Power of Nothingness or Mu No Hadou, is more powerful than the Satsui No Hadou.
This canon story clip proves it.
Evident by the computer program reading the different power level of the Ki.
Satsui No Hadou is the ultimate destructive force, all numbers were hitting 9's when Ryu go into evil mode.
But as he reach Gouken's Mu No Hadou level, all readings turn to 0 representing Power of Nothingness.
Mu No Hadou allow you to to reach your ultimate potential without sacrificing your own humanity while Satsui No Hadou destroys not only your enemies but yourself as well.
Well said man. I hope capcom gives Ryu an option to enter Mu No Hadou state (Or Angel Ruy).
but ryu would never, ever beat akuma. akuma is a demon
IAmGunzNoob I don't think he can defeat Akuma, but if he truly master the Mu No Hadou, he can be 100% match to Akuma's Shin Oni form.
Because logic dictates that Ryu can.
You'd have to understand the difference between Satsui No Hadou and Mu No Hadou.
Both are ultimate aspects of the opposite spectrum.
Meaning, if Satsui No Hadou, can take Akuma to Demon level powers, Mu No Hadou should be able to take Ryu to God level powers.
Ultimate Destruction vs Ultimate Nothingness. The unstoppable force meats the immovable object.
I thought that was hado kakusei from umvc3?
***** Correct, it is. You're very keen on that.
Yes, it is the hado kakusei from UMVC3.
But if you research on hado kakusei, you will find out that it is basically Ryu awakening to the Mu No Hadou.
So in a way, hado kakusei is the precursor to full mastery of the Mu No Hado.
1:46 he went MvC on dat ass.
Whoever wrote the dialogue for this scene deserves some kind of an award.
2:04 Seth cuts better promos than most superstars in WWE today😂😭😂

No matter how many times I watch this. I always get goosebumps. Thank you Capcom
How the hell did Ryu survive hanging by his neck for that long?
Because he is ryu
Well I mean have you seen how buff his neck is?
Because he's the poster boy of Street Fighter
Neck is a muscle I know a guy who do martial arts and hang themselves to strengthen their neck.
Strengthening Your neck is one thing, but Ryu was not only hanging from his neck (which by itself is very bad) he was also being punched and kicked while he was still hanging. His body is constantly twisting all over the place from the constant barrage of attacks. It doesn't matter how much strength you have in your neck its not designed to twist all over the place without it breaking. We aren't owls dude. Ryu should've been dead just from that. But to make it even worse, Seth Kicks Ryu in the head HARD while he's falling head first in mid air, breaking his neck for sure (you can even her the snap of his neck from that nasty kick). Like I said above there's being tough and there's just plan stupid. And this has got to be the biggest example of stupid and WTF mixed together >:(
1:50 Just like how Frieza tortured Vegeta on Namek. Imagine him doing that to Juri in that new body.
Love the end comments when Seth and Ryu fight.
.
"That is why I fight. To rid the world of such diabolical power".
This battle is Epic and legendary
This battle is deeply epic along with these dialogues.
Seth by far is one of my favorite street fighter characters to date! Not to mention how cool it is to play as him. Plus that copy move thing that he/she does.
Seth supposed to have low health. Lol
I heard both Seth and Ryu's point of view on power. Seth sees power as this thing that can be used to be better than someone else. That humans have the need to have power in their lives. The poor seek riches.
The deformed seek beauty. There is some truth to what Seth is saying about power. It's true that poor people would like to be more financially stable. It's true that people with deformities want to look like everyone else.
But the way you go about it matters from a moral point of view. Resorting to violence when you don't get your way is destructive to yourself and to the people around you. Ryu had the right idea. Because you can get power, but you have to get it the right way. The poor can work to become financially stable.
The deformed can get plastic surgery to improve their appearance. I understand those things aren't easy for them to get, but, when there's a will there's a way. I've heard a lecture on philosophy and read an article about power. And they taught me many things about power. But the most important thing I've learned about power is that what you do with it, shows how moral or amoral you are, depending on what you do with that power.
If you use that power to manipulate and trick people into giving you money that shows your amoral. If you use that power to help people become doctors or lawyers or help them lose weight if there obese, that shows that you have morals. Power is a social construct in our world.
Summarizing, the correct way to use the power is to protect the weak.
I kinda like it when fighting games and anime wax poetic like this. I'm just that guy.
Seth is back in SFV! LET'S GO!!!
TBH , Seth's definition of power is more real in our world than Ryu's version.
i like in 4:30 speech of Ryu of the power i like it
"HERES YOUR ANSWER!!" Love that line. (-:

Dude, they came from the side of the stage then got a seat. Lol. His friends suck.
+Phillip Romar bruh don't u get it they stood back because they knew it was ryu's fight and stepping in would be an insult to him and what he fights for
+Mario Duncan Mario, if you was my best friend and you was fighting somebody who was trying to kill you, I'd step in if you looked like you was loosing. Especially if you was about to get killed. Not to double team him but to at least stop the fight.
i guess i see what u mean there but sometimes I like to think like Zoro (one piece) no better how bad I'm losing don't step in no matter what u see what I mean
+Mario Duncan Yeah. Lol. I feel ya. That's respect. A little stubborn but respectable. That means you're going out like a man. That's tougher that me.
Ryu has been wondering why he keeps travelling; he searches for strenght but rejects the strongest power in existance; he wants discipline but he doesn't know what he'll do with it; he wants to do good but he can't help anybody if he remains by himself; he wants friends but the satsui no hado makes him a danger to them. He constantly struggles with this vicious cycle while seth simply does what he wants because he has the power to do so and believes this to be human nature . As he fights him he realizes that he needs to have the discipline to continue his journey so that he may find his own strenght so that he may teach others to find their own and maybe that way he can do some good. Patience is a form of strenght.
You understand Ryu's character very well, and the battle here is shown
What epic words from your friend, it is an internal struggle that Ryu is in search of strength, to do good and to free the world from evil. However, first on his journey he must be the one to free himself from internal evil and his demon Akuma.

Good thing Ryu resolved NOT to use Satsui No Hadou, but instead the Mu No Ken (Fist of Nothingness). Ken called it earlier on when he rescued Eliza, Gouken taught Ken well. The Metsu Hadouken Ryu used was infused with the Mu No Ken, explaining as to why Ryu started to grow out of league.
He mastered power of nothingness after the events of sf4 and in sf5. This hadoken was simply a metsu hadoken.
But the Metsu Hadoken Ryu used to defeat Seth here also was fueled somewhat by the Power of Nothingness, but just a small portion of it since Ryu hadn't learned to master it just yet.
Wasn't a metsu hadouken, wouldn't make sense since metsu implies Satsui No Hadou. I think this was a shin hadouken; it has the ability to disintegrate evil power, just like ryu does in SF5 to bison.
Umair Butt Thing is, Umair, the Metsu Hadoken Ryu uses in Street Fighter IV is him channeling the Satsui no Hado, BUT without succumbing to it thanks to his also partially tapping into the Power of Nothingness, so the Metsu Hadoken also doesn't use the killing power of the Satsui no Hado. But it DOES put some strain on Ryu's body when he uses it.
I agree with Umair, the Metsu techniques derive from Satsui... it also shows a purple colour to it... But then again, Shin Shoryuken and Denjin are Mu No techniques. He's reverted to Shinkuu and Denjin in SFV so hope they bring back Shin Shoryuken too!
I liked how he was hangin from the ceiling.
