Great job, that is how I cut the one on my old Low Rider. I then filed the edge round and then lightly when along the edge with a propane torch to smooth the final edge.
Great job I’m cutting down the windshield on my goldwing and I’m going to do the same as you did . You did a really great job at it . I hope mine turns out as good as yours did thank you sir
Excellent job... looks like a factory finish to me and you get the benefit of some fresh air around your face which is a must have in the summer. The bonus being you still have plenty of scope to raise it some as the weather changes should you need to.
You are a very fine hobbyist👌 with a good eye for detail, i like that. I have the same screen for the winter and a mra X-screen with a little adjustable spoiler for the summer.
I'm new to your channel and I thoroughly enjoy your videos, you extremely knowledgeable on bike maintenance and repairs, I'm currently watching all of your vid, thanks for sharing. 👍🏽
Thanks for the idea, i crashed my versys 300 2 days ago against a sheep that was on the road and ran towards me when i passed it by, th windshield and the right fairings got a little screwed and i have to replace them, i found a wayy to tall windshield on amazon, but it's 20 inches, i have the stock windshield + an extension that works just fine, and those 2 combined are 3 and a half inches shorter, so i might end up buying the longer windshield, and cutting it like you do. I hope you never run onto a sheep like it happened to me, enjoy your bike ol man!
Ozarks Backroads at the end, the bike is totally fixed now, and the new windscreen is actually not too tall, it looks nicer than the original, I'm glad i didn't have to use your method, but still, it's better to know more than just to have the money to pay for stuff.
Can i just take the windsheld off and ride like that? I'm looking for a sportbike/naked-bike but i'm 6'3 so i need something bigger. Looks pretty sporty without the shield and bags
Thanks for making this, it's a pleasure to watch. I don't have anything to cut with and need to reshape the sides so the handlebars can go full lock. I do a bit of ski tech and have a panzer file, finer files, etc. Do you think I could get away with filing the shape?
Man, you own two GREAT bikes. How does the Versys compare to the FJR? I had a gen 2 fjr for many years and I am thinking to try the Versys 1000 2016. So your opinion really counts.
Hello sir, good to hear from you. The Versys is a great bike I love it. The Versys is lighter than the FJR which makes it much easier to handle especially on loose surfaces like gravel parking lots. The Versys has a taller seat height also, for me with a 33 inch inseam it is the perfect height. The Versys does not have quite as much wind protection as the FJR but it is still pretty good. I would think that if you liked the FJR you will probably be happy with the Versys it is a very nice machine... Thanks for watching and keep safe... :)
Windshield looks good! I did the same thing on a BMW I had last year. How do u like your Corbin Seat? Is it comfortable on long rides? I am thing abt buying one..Thanks
Hello there Alan, the Corbin seat is awesome. I did a 2 week trip out west last year on it and had no issues at all. I have ordered a Corbin seat for my new FJR1300 without even considering any other brand. It seemed a little to firm when I first got it but it broke in and supports very well now with no hot spots. Hope your experience is as good as mine has been.... Thanks Sir....... :)
@@ozarksbackroads5484 Thanks for the quick reply. Choosing a seat is tough to do because you are stuck with it once you buy it . I am going to buy a Corbin and hope it works out. I like the mods that you have made on your Versys. Your Bike looks great . I ride pretty much in the same style and areas that you have taken interested in going out west is always my favorite riding as I am from Indianapolis and always enjoy getting away from crowds and traffic, taking the old Highways whenever possible and seeing more of what I am going through. Thanks
What do you think of the Corbin seat? I have been considering it for a while now. I am a taller rider(Almost 6'3") and I am concerned with how low it is compared to the stock seat. Shield looks great.
The Corbin is much more comfortable that the stock seat but it is a couple inches lower so the foot pegs will be closer. The Versys has a pretty low foot peg though, I didn't notice much difference in peg height but you may.
. Thanks Jon great video. On impulse I brought a GIVI Touring Screen here in the UK for my BMW GS off of someone and now find its just too tall for me. So I can either sell it on or try to cut it down myself. Given this I may attempt to cut it down now. Only problem is I dont possess your skills. Ted
Good to hear from you sir. I bet you will do just fine cutting down that windshield... use plenty of tape and you will be fine... thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)
Two wheels I've just done the same thing for my Africa Twin in the continued quest to reduce wind noise. Saw a givi touring screen and thought I'd try. It's too tall as I'm looking through it and don't like that. The turbulence is terrible aswell. Ofcourse I've tried it so I can't return it so I'm going to have a go at this ! Let me know if you had success. Regards Matt
@@MattDiabloTours Hi Matt. Yes I will let you know how I get on. I,m trying to sell it for what I paid for it but if it doesn't get sold I will bite the bullet & cut it. Another idea I have been given is to take it to someone who makes signs for shops as they might cut it for a small price. Ted
Another great video, so well explained
Bodyshop skills and tools transfer over nicely to motorcycle mods and maintenance

it hurts to see you cut that screen down that is on the top of my wishlist to have for my versys.
It worked out good still full protection when raised up and some air on me when lowered.... thanks sir.... :)
@@ozarksbackroads5484 i understand i am in the netherlands and that screen would keep me out of the cold...
