- In this video I take a windshield I have that came stock on the Yamaha FJR1300 and modify it and fit it to my 2019 Triumph Tiger 800XCx. Hillbilly Engineering 101. For more info on cutting and finishing polymer windshields check this video out ....

13:02 Hillbilly... construction? Nope, looks like a pretty professional piece of work to me!
Thanks for making such great informative videos with no extra fluff. Keep up the good work. ("Thought I was walking in tall cotton") ;-)
Thanks for watching sir... keep safe out there.. :)
Well done John, a pleasure to watch another fine video sir.
Thanks sir, I hope all is well with you and yours... Happy Hollidays..... :)
Well done.. both on the fabrication and the video. Wind noise in my helmet is the most significant problem I face as a daily commuter/ recreational rider at the moment with my two faired bikes. This video gives me more confidence to try stuff out to get a nice quiet ride.
Legend!
Glad you liked sir, good luck with all your projects... thanks for watching... :)
I'm so glad I've watched this video, because I was about to buy Puig windshield. Now I just have to find used fjr screen...
Thanks buddy.
good luck sir.. :)
You need to sell that technology to Triumph! Great job
I am a fellow Tiger 800 rider in Arkansas. Thank you for your videos, please continue making more. I have yet to discover all of the wonderful places to ride in this state and your videos are inspiring.
Thanks.... have a great Holiday season... see you out there soon..... :)
Nothing like your own handiwork ! I made my own mounts for windshields and my own footrests. And a custom heel-toe shifter ! Cost of aftermarket parts for these would run into thousands. The luggage rack made out of scrap aluminum cost $35.00 .
Very clever. Looks like it's professionally made for the Tiger. Shows what can be done with a bit of thought.
Thank You sir, have a great Holiday season..... :)
John you are a talented dude! I sure hope our paths cross sometime. Keep the videos coming and Ride Safe!
Thanks sir, I will keep an eye out.... :)
I agree with you, I enjoy his work, very informative 👍🏽
Ive a Tiger 1200 and you've given me some great ideas here.. Thx
Good to hear from you Paul... thanks for watching... keep safe out there... :)
best windscreen ive found for my suzuki dl1000xt was no windscreen, naked if you like. best mod ive done.
Nice job I ended up removing my windshield it was so bad......I will try this if I can source a FJR windshield many thanks
Glad you liked... you don't have to have an FJR windshield, any large windshield would probably work with a little trimming.... good luck... keep safe out there... :)
The Madstad is great for the Tiger 800 but you've saved a lot of money doing it your way!!
Thanks sir, Have a great holiday season...... :)
Looks good and works good! I had a Suzuki GSX many years ago with an aftermarket protection/windshield. It was smaller than yours but similar design and it worked very well.
Good to hear from you sir... thanks for watching.. :)
If l was a high windscreen guy this is the way l go for making it. Liked that it push the wind away from the hands, lets face it, handguards on the Triumph are not good for anything. I can ride all winter on my 04 vstrom in summer gloves, no way in you know where that will happen on my triumph.
Great work sir, not a chance you can call that hillbilly work.
thanks for watching sir.... :)
Looks factory fitted. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
thanks sir...... :)
Again another creative work on the wind shield, Love the garage videos, very informative and fun to see how it's made videos, you give courage to everyone who wants to work on their bikes, ride safe big brother...
thanks sir... Have a wonderful Holiday season..... :)
I really like the windscreen that I got from these guys, for my Tiger 800.
thanks sir.... :)
Wow! Great Job ! Felicitaciones desde México ! Quiero modificar mi KLR para que se vea un poco más Dakar !! Saludo
Es bueno saber de usted señor... gracias por mirar... :)
That's brilliant sir, well done!
Thanks for watching sir... :)
Problem with high windshield is in hot days, it don't let wind goes into helmet. And you will bake inside it! Onther problem is "buffeting". I've found helmets are a lot quiet when wind goes direct to them and let "make their work" about aerodinamic design. Regards.
Great video. Very informative. Now I have some good ideas to try using your knowledge.
I think that I need to move to the Ozarks. Fuel is atleast $ 2.00 less there per gallon than Northern, CA.
Hello there sir, good to hear from you... yes fuel is crazy expensive in CA... You probably just go ahead and buy an electric scooter... thanks for watching... :)
Impressive overall quality, editing video and audio !
Glad you like sir... Thanks for watching... :)
Slick Set-Up..Looks and works great...
Looks really nice.
Looks good John. Nice job.
thanks Jim... Have a wonderful Holiday Season sir... :)
good job, probably would have tinted the mount bronze or grey
Hmm. It's almost like taller and narrower makes the air smoother on your ears? I tend to just want bigger and bigger windscreen, but it doesn't help much.
Tiger 660 owner here
Love my bike but absolutely despise the wind buffeting at 70mph +
I've tried everything except the larger tour windscreen, which is in the mail as we speak
I even took the OEM screen completely off to see how it handled naked. It was horrible.
Best so far was the OEM at the highest settings with a clip on at a slight angle.
Im so pissed about this buffeting.
Good to here form you Captain. I hope your new screen helps... thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)
@@ozarksbackroads5484 Just finished watching your video
Damn good idea!!
Stay safe out there!!
I also have the same problem with the wind noise on my honda forza, terrible loud wind noise on my aftermarket wind screen, anything over 25mph and it's loud to record audio
Good to hear from you sir. Thanks for watching, good luck and keep safe.. :)
You make a pretty good video, good content etc. maybe for improved flow of the video you might try not reiterating where your up to at the beginning of each new section. Watch your old section and simply follow on from it. Hollywood has been training the world for decades how to follow on through cuts. Anyway Great job.
Good job John... question : no release is needed for your shield by the technical examination ( like we have in Germany every 2 year ) ?
no problems here with inspections sir, if it has break pads its good to go... thanks for watching and keep safe... :)
Can u make a windshield from old car front windscreens
Nice video!
Let me know if i heat up my windscreen can i change it's angle?
Hello sir, good to hear from you. heating up and bending a windscreen is possible but only if the screen is flat. If the screen has an arc across it left to right as most do then it would be very difficult to bend it in the other plane (ie backwords or forwards). You might have better luck adding spacers to the lower mounting points of the windscreen instead.... Thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)
@@ozarksbackroads5484 thank you for your reply!
Excellent presentation and craftsmanship as usual!
Thanks for watching sir... keep safe out there... :)
