Corrections & Clarifications
Contrary to the video, enemies DO consider the 'extra distance' of water effect tiles, when chosing a target. So at 3:10, the Broodmother should have targetted the Ursus (2 movement away) not the Exile (4 movement away). (As clarified by Shadowborne, on BGG).
At 2:30, I mention that Breaking a Location interrupts any effects which come after the attack. In fact, only effects which target the enemy (such as knockback or bleed) are lost. Effects targetting friendly characters (such as gaining combat tokens) are still applied.
At 5:35, I apply damage from the fire tile immediately. This is correct for the first edition of the game, but in Oathsworn 2.0, this happens during the End of Round phase, instead.
At 11:27, Oathsworn receive four common items, as loot. This is correct for the first edition of the game, but in Oathsworn 2.0, this has been reduced to three common items.
At 12:17, I mention that in some cases Oathsworn may need to take an injury card, even if they have 1 or 2 hit points remaining. This applies to Hardcore Mode (not higher Difficulty Levels, as stated in the video).
At 13:12, I state that if you have an injury card in your hand, you must play it before you play any other ability cards. Note that this is true only if the injury card was in your hand on your first turn of the round.

I was utterly intimidated by this game, but so hungry to learn it, and your videos really helped me eat the elephant. In fact, as I listened, I wrote my own step by step player aid (as I found the ones in the game or online severely lacking) and now I'm getting a handle on it and loving it.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm always glad to hear that the videos are useful to some. And yes - they're unlikely to be the only Oathsworn content I create. Though, the official kickstarter updates have done such a great job of exploring the character classes already. No doubt there'll be lots of new UA-cam content when the game comes out - can't wait!
Hands down the best How to Play video on UA-cam. Your work should be a go to for content creators on how to teach and present complex boardgame. I'm more amazed by the quality and thought that was put into your video than the actual game itself.

2:40 . As of 2.0, you still get to finish friendly effects, so tou would still gain a potential battle token when breaking a location, if I rexall correctly.

3:40 . 2.0 also changed that you calcumate the movement points it takes, not the range, so the broodmother would not move towards the exile. This is due to it being easy in 1.0 to game the boss by using water tiles, forcing it to not attack anything in many situations by just stopping short.
5:40 Fire is now resolved at the end phase.

There were several times I thought you were describing something wrongly but found when I checked the rules, you were correct! Usually it was something I overlooked in print even though I read it several times. Everything is SO much easier to follow in the format you have presented!

I just watched this series and it’s hands down the best and most clear explanation of any game mechanics I’ve seen to date and was the defining factor in my deciding to play this game. I’d love if you could continue with this approach to bigger games. A Frosthaven one would be fantastic.

Thanks so much for this wonderful series. I only have one real quibble is that the way the videos are cut you end up skipping over the battleflow steps where cards get rotated/returned to hand. You covered the mechanics back in Part 3, but it would have been nice to see the actual phase taking place during the subsequent parts.
Everything else was brilliant.
This series was great. Now to wait until Oct 2023 for my game to arrive.

I'm glad the videos were helpful. If I had to guess, I'd predict that a reprint of the game will be Shadowborne's next big project, after the game delivers.
At first, amazing video series. I did greatly enjoy it; very refreshing after the study of the rulebooks.
One question arose while watching, that never accured while reading. Maybe you have an answer.
Imagine your Free Company has had some bad luck: One or more unconscious Oathsworn while winning one encounter, getting ambushed on the following with some Injury Cards.
Are you allowed to play Interrupt Abilities in the ensuing Encounter Phase without playing the Injury Cards first?
The wording in the Rulebook may suggest that you can, because it's not your turn. But it's not clear for me.

Good question. The requirement to play injury cards only applies to the Oathsworn Phase (and only to your first turn of each round). So you're right: it won't affect Interrupt Abilities (or playing ability cards for their Defense value), which aren't part of your turn. Once the game has been released, the community will hopefully produce an FAQ, to help with clarifying such subtleties.

Well, you're right that minions don't *activate* (i.e. move and attack) until the Encounter Phase. But breaking a location will trigger the next Stage Card, which usually says "Release the Brood". Thanks for the feedback.

On the broodmother's last move, why didn't she turn to face the warbear?
So after killing the brood mother the remaining giant rats on the board just despawn? No need to kill them?
Just to be sure - breaking the 4th die on the Brood Mother advances the Reaction Cards to the next stage - however is the immediate reaction from her unchanged vs before (ie the Stege 2 card that was face up prior ot the die being broken), or is the reaction card replaced with a new unknown one from Stage 3?
The second option. Advancing the Stage deck can reveal a brand new card, and an unanticipated reaction.
@03:50 the broodmother is just 2 movement away from the ursus and 4 movement away from the exile. Shadowborne Games confirmed in a bgg thread, that the extra movement created by water is included in the calculation. Shouldn't the broodmother go to the ursus? Do I miss something? maybe you could help me understand? I will play my first session in 2 days. Without your help I would have made a ton of mistakes. Thanks so much for your videos!!

At 2ish minutes you reroll a miss into a critical. That also means you should have drawn an extra card for the critical roll correct? (Obviously you didn't need it for anything in the example)
Actually the redraw wasn't a critical (as it didn't have the squiggly brackets). White Might Cards include both an ordinary 2, and a critical (2). But you are correct that, if it had been a critical, I would have drawn an additional card.
One thing I remember reporting as being ambiguous from an earlier rulebook draft was if an enemy with one movement point could enter a water tile. Since you have the final version, do you happen to know the answer?
Hi Jesse, yes in the finalized rulebook it takes 2 movement to enter a water tile, and if an enemy has only one movement point, they'll simply stop, before entering the tile. (Their final movement point is lost). Hope this helps to clarify.

I have a question about using the white cards. After you used however many you decided to use, do you shuffle them after you put them back into their area?
You only shuffle might cards when you refresh the deck.

So injury cards are only for the next encounter right? Not permanent?
No, injuries are permanent, and stay with you for the rest of the campaign. (Unless you can discover a way of getting rid of them. For example, the Free Company Trait "Field Medic"). This game is no stroll in the forest!

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. It was correct when I made the video (Oathsworn 1.0), but the reprint (Oathsworn 2.0) changed a few rules, including that one. I'll add a note in the description.
