Hello Marie; I made one up this morning, and it is loverly! The base was made a couple of weeks ago and then today the colour was added. Thank you for also suggesting a slim lipstick container. Also, as per your suggestion (elsewhere?), I mixed the mica with castor oil, 1 part to 1 part, and the colour is stunning. Thank you again for your generous spirit from which this is all shared.
Awesome! I'm still wearing mine several times a week, they're the perfect combo of colour + low maintenance 😄 And thank you so much for sharing the results of your colour experiments!
@@HumblebeeAndMe youy are most welcome :D i have litrally just came across your channel a few days ago and i have already purchased your book and im loving it, i just had one question then got my answer by watching your video that you put out for the naked lip balm :D xxx
Hi I made the Creamy Lip balms base and it is truly creamy! And stays on!!! Hurray!!! I want to do the tints but I have a ton of power Oxides and Micas I can use but I can’t find the instructions for substitutions in the blog, has any one found them? If you have Please paste a link here. Thank you!!
From the blog: don’t know the concentrations of the dyes in the castor oil base, but if we guess around 50%, you’ll need to use half the weight of powdered pigments, and make up the rest of the weight with more castor oil. You will have to do significantly more blending, like this, to get an even product
Hello, Marie, how are you? I'm from Brazil, thank you in advance for your knowledge. How do I make a formula for a matte lipstick? very dry on the lips? Thankful.
Will these dyes work without the sericite? I make a basic lip balm recipe and just want to add a hint of tint. My colors arrived from TKB. But, I don't want to waste them on a failed attempt ;-)
Hi Marie! Just wondering, if this could be a dual purpose product as a lip and cheek tint/balm? Also, can I put it in a jar container instead of a tube? Thank you!
Where do I purchase teaspoons that can measure 11/32 of iron Oxide or 1/16 of mica powder etc? Are these amounts too small to convert to grams? Please help.
Stunning!! Thanks for sharing. What are you using on your cheekbones lately? (Is that an odd question? Hehe) Love the flattering, dewy glow :) You are fab Marie, I call today my inspiring Mondays :)
Thanks so much! The highlight is my Snowy Dawn Cream Luminizer (www.humblebeeandme.com/snowy-dawn-cream-luminizer/). I LOOOOOOOVE it, and it's not at all odd to ask 😝 Happy making!
You'll find the answer to your question in the blog post that's linked in the description box below the video ;) If you're not sure what that means, read this: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/whats-the-description-box-on-youtube/. Happy making!
I've been working on liquid lipsticks for ages-you should follow me on Instagram, there's frequently shots of my experiments in my stories ;) instagram.com/marierayma/
If you've never checked them out, Bulk Apothecary (they're in Ohio but will ship to Canada) has great slim line tubes with filling trays that makes pouring a breeze (especially in slim line crazy small tubes). Definitely worth checking them out - and bonus (!) - They might be interested in sponsoring videos/providing you with some of their awesome tubes. ;)
Neat! The international shipping/duties/fees is always the killer, though-it can easily add 60% of the order in terms of cost. So, it's not really a "will they ship to Canada?" thing but a "do I want this badly enough to pay 160% of the original cost?" thing :/
If you’re ever in Indiana (hint hint) we can ship to my house and I’ll bring them to the meetup. Lol. Or...I have a guest room (well, I will after remodel nightmare is over in October) and we can have a make-a-thon in my studio. Lol. Maybe I can just add some to my order next time and send you a care package. Lol
Dear Marie, is there a chance to use anything else then sericite mica? Or can I cancel it? It is pretty hard to find it where I'm living without paying with the soul of my unborn child :( I can't find Arrowroot powder, too :(
You could try a different starch, like cornstarch or wheat starch. You can also try eliminating it, though I haven't tried that myself so I can't say how well it'll work. Happy making!
Hey! You’ll find what you are looking for in my book 😊 It’s called Make it Up: The Essential Guide to DIY Makeup and Skin Care and it’s all about how to create your own makeup at home. I’ve compiled a big list of places to buy it here: www.humblebeeandme.com/make-it-up-preorder/. I’m very proud of it, and if you’re interested in making your own colourful cosmetics it is definitely a great place to start!
I have been using powders and pouring into a tin. The pigment won't stay mixed and just goes to the bottom:( I add castor oil separately. If I mix it with castor will it fix it?
You could, but the mixture is pretty creamy/kinda sticky for face use. I'm not a huge fan of these on my face. Stay tuned for a recipe coming out in early October, though ;)

Wow, Marie, that’s some accurate pouring!! I’m impressed.....given that I can’t pour water into a bowl without spilling it!! Lol
Thanks! It's all practice, I guess? :P
At 3:45 I thought: wow, that is a gorgeous lip color. I'll make that lip balm for sure! Turned out it is your natural (beautiful) lip color.
Well shucks 😊 I'm pretty darn sure there's some residual lip colour on at that point, though! :P I don't usually have lips like that when I wake up 😝
Hey Marie, I am wondering can you use these liquid lip dispersions to make color changing lip balm?
Hi marie!! Nice tutorial :)) but, how long can you use this product?

Can i use your book recipes for my small business of lipstick, lipgloss, blush and tints?
Hi Marie, could I put them into a small tin instead of a stick? x
sticky tape idea is really cool
Hey marie, can i use this recipe for my small business?? What is the shelf life of this?
Hello Marie
Is the pre-dispersed liquid dyes you used organic?
If i want to do this today and I don't have sericite mica...what can I substitute it with? I have zinc oxide and arrowroot powder.
Arrowroot would be the closest alternative, though I can't speak for how well the end product will perform with it.
Marie.. If I don't want them as dark? Back down on color?
Hello, Marie, how are you?

They'll work, just not quite as well-the sericite helps with colour transfer (a trick I learned from TKB!).
Hey Marie, I’m a huge fan! I was just wondering if you could use beeswax instead if the lip balm base.
Hey! So, if you do that... you will make candles, lol. So... no.
Humblebee & Me Lol, Alright thanks! Have a great day!
What is the shelf life ? Can you please tell??

The entire recipe is designed around it; NOT using it will be problematic :)
