Everything you said about BFS about it being a little more comfortable with certain lures and intuitive is right on the money. As I've been messing with BFS gear I've been liking it more and more!
I love bfs fishing you should try the jenko double down rod it’s a medium light action more backbone and I love the micro finesse bait from Zman they catch alot of fish
This was a fun video and Chris really crafted a beautiful rod. BFS will be a work in progress. I tried my own version about 20 or so 😮...old guy pause...with a Mitchell Spidermire reel and medium light Berkley Cherrywood pistol grip rod. Probably due more to the horrible issues with early Spiderwire and Fireline turned me off. More to come
Eurotackle Micro Finesse Hellgrammite 1.8" Soft Plastic Lure I found them on Amazon prime have not used them yet but seem like they are well made and great video thank you
I lack the bladed jig gene. But it goes back to like 1972 and I sent in my $2.99 to get a selection of lures out of Boy's Life. One was a spinner blade, jig head and maggot body. Zero results. Maybe that initial disappointment caused me to ignore spinner/jig combos since then. But I don't even do much with skirted buzz-baits on bass. As I say, I lack the gene. Spoons, as the Dardevle clone in the assortment, on the other hand . . . Spoons are still my #2 if a Mister Twister jig (bare, slow, and deep) doesn't get a strike.
From an engineering standpoint I can totally understand why you wouldn't want your line in contact with the blank. That line is going to tend to be in contact with the same area every time there is load on the rod. If that line is always rubbing the same areas there is no chance that it won't eventually wear and weaken the rod.
That custom rod was bending into the handle. 😂 My fav chatterbait rod (Evergreen Jackhammer Combat Stick) does the same thing with pretty much any decent fish.
I have a few BFS videos if you search on my channel. That being said, I will continue to do more. Generally, a reel will be classified as a BFS reel so it should come up if you search for them. Daiwa & Shimano make them, along with some cheaper Chinese reel companies.
@@OneAndOnlyChi I would watch some Mudhole rod building videos on UA-cam and go from there. Word of warning, the thinner and more flexible the rod blank is, the more difficult it is to wrap the guides. I would suggest starting with a medium-heavy rod to wet your feet.
@@TheApostateTapirMy man, that is how I live my life. Thoughts on making a rod, with someone like me knowing there is no timeline, just that it's in process?
Hey man. I accidentally shipped my mule jig order to the wrong address back in Kentucky through the shop app. Can I contact you to change it? I can provide the order number.
@@FishAnything You're very welcome here and I thank you as well. Enjoy the summer too, nowadays time and weeks plus the months go by quickly. Before you know it it will be winter again LOL, not trying to rush it though.
Bladed jigs take time to build confidence in. One thing which may help is being mindful of the “lift” the blade causes. If you use low diameter line, you can get it deeper and in the strike zone more. If not, you’ll definitely want to slow down and try to get the bait a bit deeper. When it’s too high in the water column, I don’t have as much success.
You are treading outside of true UL fishing that we tune in for. BFS is just ridiculous and is like trying for force a square peg in a round hole. Please don’t turn this great UL Fishing channel into this faddy, trendy garbage…Shaking my head…..
Its just a different way to catch fish. Is a spinning setup capable of 90% of what a bfs can do with practice? Sure, but bfs is also fun, and I fish to have fun.
I for one tune in whether it's UL or BFS. "Why use casting gear when there's already spinning gear" - can't you say that for every lure weight range, not only UL/BFS?
My ultralight videos are always going to be my focus, because that’s what I genuinely enjoy the most. That being said, sometimes I like to mix it up and BFS can be really fun. Take a look at this article to get a bit more of a feel for my perspectives from a bass fishing standpoint: fishanything.com/should-you-get-a-bfs-setup-for-bass-fishing/ Additionally, I’m well aware that my UL vids do way more views than a BFS vid so i can assure you there is no trend that would suggest this is a good “UA-cam strategy”, but rather I make the vids because I simply want to. While I enjoy growing my channel and stuff, I am ultimately here to have fun so I don’t let views dictate what I make. I never will 🫶🏽 thanks for the feedback, please never hesitate to give more. I do value the perspectives.
@@FishAnything So good to hear that your roots still run deep with UL spinning. I want you to know that I really enjoy your content and always look forward to your new drops. You’re definitely my fav UA-cam fisher bro! Keep slapping those dinks for us! Edit: I checked out the article. Thank you for that. I “get” your perspective but I’m going to stick to my UL spinning. Tiny baits feel more natural to me on spinning gear. I do love my bait casters for bigger bass and inshore but UL spinning will never be replaced for me. Take care my friend.
I love ultralight fishing, but I also love BFS fishing! I'd love to see more of this on your channel, Ethan!
I’ll be doing more! Thanks so much, Dan!
@@FishAnything Awesome! You're the best!
For their size, the DeraBreak's really thump nicely. Perfect skunk prevention!

It’s definitely a “feel” thing for me. I’ll never use it as a main setup but it’s fun for certain things.
I recently got into BFS and enjoy it beyond belief. Great show and keep Giving the fish an out of water experience...
I really enjoy BFS fishing at times. Thanks!
The spiral guides idea sounds very good. I believe edge rods have those
It’s a neat concept. Not 100% sure how I feel but I definitely don’t see any issues at this time.

I’ll have to look into that Jenko, thanks!
I purchased one of the custom spools for my curado bfs and now the performance is top notch.
That’s awesome!
Best baits in the world. God bless and tight lines brother!!

Great video. I am definitely going to check out that jackall finesse bladed jig. Thanks for the video.
Hope you enjoy it as much as me! Not easy to find but definitely a sick little bait.
Hog Farmer Baits has a new 3in spunk shad it’s a perfect trailer for that
“Why is my braid…” is something I say every time I fish.
Lol it’s usually fine but you’re always going to run into something!!
That is too funny. Yeah braid is love n hate for me.
You should do more fly fishing vids!
I might at some point! Thanks for the recommendation. 👊🏽🤠👊🏽

So much of fishing is confidence and preference. Stick with what you are most comfortable with and you tend to catch more fish.

It’s a cool stick! Definitely going to keep chucking stuff around with it.

that bladed jig looks nice
It’s a sick little bait
what online retailer sells the Jackall DeraBreak ? Thanks!
Not 100% sure. I think it’s primarily on Japanese websites such as Japan lure shop or digitaka
I've not seen a micro bladed jig! Heading to Google now
Zman makes one too…micro chatterbait
A couple options out there! This one was fancy, but I definitely liked it a lot.
Does chris build rods for the public? I love bfs I have 1 custom rod now
I do not, unfortunately. I am the worst at maintaining timelines with projects and I don't want to let a customer down.

what gear ratio reel do you use for BFS?
Honestly I’m not sure off the top of my head what it is. I believe somewhere around 7:1
For some reason i cant fint the bladed jig on discout tackle can anyone help.i,d love to pick some up.thanks
It’s only available JDM I think. Google Jackall Dera Break
how can I purchase the red rod in this video? Thanks
