@Larry-yv7ss oh pssshhhhh absolutely..easily the most gifted of the nwobhm era alot of today's progressive music owe maiden an un payable debt of gratitude cause they wouldn't be here if they weren't..
I'm 54. I remember seeing Nicko on the powerslave tour in 1984 at the age of 14!! His unique style made Maiden what they were through the 80's! What a legend!!
He's earned it. The last time I saw them, I could tell he was having a harder time as the set went on. But he still gave everything he had. And he was fantastic. God bless him. He's one of the greatest drummers ever sit behind a set.
July 9, 1983 was my first concert. Iron Maiden in Long Beach, Ca. I’ve seen them an additional 8 or 9 times since including two months ago. They never disappointed. Nicko is among the best.
I have seen Maiden since the Number Of The Beast tour back in the 80's. Every tour since and ALWAYS a killer show!!! One of the best bands ever!!!! Happy retirement Nico!! Enjoy it and the rest of your life!!!! Thank you for all the music!!!
I’m 56 and had the pleasure of seeing Nicko with Iron Maiden in my youth (80’s & 90’s), later with my wife (2000 - 2010’s), and then later with my son (2011 - 2023). Thank you Nicko for all great music and shows!!!
Many, many thanks Nicko!!!! You have crushed it continuously for 42 years!!!!! You are Maiden!!! Wish you and your family well!!!! Many blessings! Cheers...
Knew it was coming, but I really hoped it’d be after the 50th anniversary tour next year. Nicko, it’s been a privilige listening to your drumming for the past 4+ decades. I have nothing but the utmost respect for this decision. Congrats to your career and thanks heaps for your persona and for flying where eagles dare! "Tiiiime, isn’t always on your siiiiiide" 😢❤️
My two sons got to see Iron Maiden live in Pittsburgh Pa. My kids are 5 & 9 so that is a ring memory I will never forget and they got to see on of my favorite drummers.. no double bass pedal and still crushing it, a stroke and makes a comeback and still killing it.. Tip top Sir going out on top of the world and some... cheers..
So lucky to have seen him twice live ! Nicko is such an amazing drummer and one of my biggest inspirations . Thank you for all these years ! God bless god speed enjoy retirement .
I'll never forget when I bought Piece of Mind on vinyl as soon as it came out as a 16 years old kid and being blown away by the drumming on Where Eagles Dare... Thank-you Nicko and enjoy your well earned retirement.
I feel so lucky. I finally got to go see them for the first time on Oct. 18th of this year in Salt Lake City at the Delta Center. It was my 8 year old son's first show and he worships the ground Nicko walks on. I can't believe I got to see him on the last tour he would ever play. What a legend and absolute monster! What a fantastic human being! He deserves a long, joyous, and gilded retirement. Long may he toddle after kids and grandkids!
Greetings from the UK...My very first ever gig was Rush,February 13th 1978-Leicester here in the UK,i was 17...My very first Iron Maiden gig was October 6th 1979 at The Boat Club here in Nottingham.I`ve been a lifelong fan of both bands since those days and seen both bands live at least 140 times each...When Rush retired i thought the whole world had ended, when Neil Peart died i was even worse and it was if an old friend had died..I pretty much feel the same about Nicko retiring but at least he`s not retired from recording so there is still hope...All the best Nicko,we love you.
I also have had the pleasure of seeing Nicko live. I thank you for all your work and I wish you nothing but the best . May you always have the same memories as all your fans ! God Bless.
Nicko Mcbrain thank you so much for everything you are one of my favorite drummers of all time I love you and thank you for all your hard work in Iron Maiden 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
It’s bringing tears to my eyes. Having grown up listening, seeing and embracing Iron Maiden throughout my years, it’s not a shock that the mighty Nicko is retiring from relentless touring. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You were the definitive backbone of Maiden’s legendary sound. I got to see Maiden for the first time when I was 13 years old during the “Somewhere In Time” tour in January of ‘87 in my home city of Philadelphia. Since that time I’ve never lost my love and faith in the band. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see what was your last performance in Philly in November, but I have great memories of the countless times that I got to see you perform live over the past 27 years. Thank you so very much for the greatest drummer I’ve ever got to see. Hopefully I’ll get to meet you someday to tell you in person how much you mean to me, if I don’t get the chance, then so be it. Again, thank you so very much for being you. Up the Irons, NICKO! All the love and respect.
Woooow.... Thank you so much, Nico! Seventh Son was my musical awakening in 1989. Hearing the Moonchild intro, and I was HOOKED. My life would have been quite different if I hadn't stumbled on this album, on that exact day. Up the irons 🤟🤟
I am so excited to have seen I.M. a few times. I also met him in an alley in Boston , & he gave me one of his drum st. "Up the Irons" , your talent is legendary, enjoy the next part of your journey , thanks man ... 🎶🎼🎵✨️🖤✨️👌✨️take good care Niko ..❤
🍻 To Niko ... I pray health and happiness for you. An amazing drummer in one of the most iconic bands. I saw Clive drum on his final tour and then watched Niko step in. Thank you for sharing your talents and wit. Cheers 🍻
I’ve seen Iron Maiden as many times as I could when they would go to Buffalo NY. seen them probably ten times. I will forever miss Nickos drumming style and his speed. My kids kids kids will listen to maiden.
amazing thanks nickio for all what you have done i hope you enjoy what your planning to do next i hope your going to be on the next albums all the best to you ❤❤
Nicko is a legend and definitely deserves to retire from touring in order to do what he wants to do and spend time with his family. I honestly had no idea he'd had a stroke, damn! With Rock Feed in my corner I will now be able to better keep up with everything all that's going on and I thank you for that!! Back to the topic, I wish Nicko all the best!!
This is exactly how you bow out with grace and the band has responded in kind, with class. Here's to a great and well-deserved retirement for a legendary drummer.
wow, nicko is one of my all time favorite drummers and also the biggest inspiration behind learning to play drums myself. im so glad i got to see him live in october. i cant blame him at all for retiring, but it's sad news for sure. it would be cool if he records another album with them
When I learned to play drums back in the early 90s one of the first things I learned to play was the opening section of Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. I still find myself tapping out that rhythm to this day without even realizing it at first. I remember the first drum lesson/advice VHS I ever purchased was Nicko McBrain "Rhythms Of The Beast" which taught me the importance of training your left hand to keep time so you can give your right a rest and not burn yourself out in a performance. Nicko had THE biggest influence on me. Got to see him do this thing multiple times over the years. The last time being a month ago in Massachusetts. Nicko has nothing to prove to anyone and I could never thank him enough for all he's done and being a stand up guy (in more ways than one) the entire time. UP THE IRONS!
Nicko thanks for all the awesome songs, you power on the drums will be forever remembered, I was gladly able to see you live two times with Maiden. You really deserve your time off, good luck and stay safe.
I sure am glad that I got to go to the San Antonio show, as well as the 2022 Austin show. And I plan to go to show on the next tour. I'm sure it will be great, but it won't be the same without Nicko.
I've been listening to Iron Maiden since 1983. Seen them LIVE 21 times, & Nicko is a true legend. Thank you, Nicko & enjoy retirement...you sure earned it!! 🤘
It’s incredible to see this fan without him, but at the same time, he is a true legend by no one went to walk away because physically he is not able to do what he used to do and it’s grateful enough to let somebody else do the gig and him enjoy much needed time with his family and himself and enjoy himself while he has it. God bless you and yours Nico rock on thank you for so many amazing music and great drummingfor years to come your legacy for years to come your legacy is already amazing. 42 years and counting nothing but just amazing 42 years and counting nothing but just amazing
I toured for nearly 4 years and no not famous and it was a grind though fun when young. I'm 62 in 4 days and I could not even comprehend trying to tour at Nicko's age. He is still in my top 20 rock drummers with his distinctive style and great personality( drummers take note of the latter it's NOT a competition ok?).God Bless you Nicko!
Drumming is rough on the body without all the rest that i can't even phathom what goes into touring in a band that caliber. Much respect! 🍻🍻🍻🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We'll certainly miss Nicko (although he isn't quitting Iron Maiden). I wish him all the happiness and best for him after these decades. I wish Simon Dawson good luck. Nicko, you'll forever be in our hearts and Iron Maiden. Up the Irons forever.

Thank you Nicko for your effort thoughout my teenage years and also my early adult years!! The guy who did double bass pedals with one foot only!! You were ahead of your time, sir!!
42 years as a touring drummer is absolutely insane. A true legend among drummers and drumming fans, and a happy retirement duly deserved. Mad respect.
He was in bands prior. It was 42 years with Maiden... probably 50 years total
He one of the masters that's for sure
@@joshuaarmendariz4967 I definitely agree. This hit me pretty hard. They are ALL VERY Amazing!!!
@Larry-yv7ss oh pssshhhhh absolutely..easily the most gifted of the nwobhm era alot of today's progressive music owe maiden an un payable debt of gratitude cause they wouldn't be here if they weren't..
It’s even more insane when you think about the fact that the last two years were after having a stroke.
I'm 54. I remember seeing Nicko on the powerslave tour in 1984 at the age of 14!! His unique style made Maiden what they were through the 80's! What a legend!!
Im in my 60, Iron Maiden Rock's!
