You can make the argument that failure of #2 is a result of cheating #1. Spent a fall season focusing on recognition and trying to swing at FB only in the zone. Don't care if a hanger middle middle I was taking because it was about recognition discipline, and zone awareness and quadrants. I always wanted to have that long gorgeous perfect weight shifting full arm extension tall standing profile fluid through with sweeping follow through swing like Junior... I tried to make it work and all I did was have to cheat the velo and smack the shit outta a couple catchers. When I finally realized my eyes arent Juniors eyes my swing became closer to Bonds. Short or no load. Sometime a toe tap a la Michael young style. But a quicker load, get the foot down and get the legs moving the hips. Inside tight elbows with power generation from mid thigh to top on the abs. Less exaggerated weight transfer to the front through the zone finishing with a more narrow base and more back foot weight pulling down and away from my lead shoulder but still being able to hold onto balance in follow through. Made me a hell of a lot quicker to the ball and made Up/In, Up/Up, and Mid/In my best quad when it was by far my worst. I could still go with the Down/out but it took some oppo control away for sure. Made oppo more about keeping my hands on top rather than a controlled down punch to it but actually ended up with better oppo exit velo. Bottom line is look at bonds vs Junior. Bonds controlled the zone so well because he could wait forever to pull on it. sometimes in super slow mo youre like no effen way he starts now and even spoils that late.... and he barrrels it about 490ft. to Right Right Center. Junior has such vision that when he unleashed that 2-0 swing it starts before the pitcher has even come to the set 😂

Hi hope all is well it's Tom T. I've been taking your advice on my son dropping his hands. Before he hits. I eventually now went to him resting the bat in his shoulders. I no alot people frown on this but. If you look at some of the all time greats they do it. Man had his swing really leavled off. Looks like a pure swing now I'm still having some contact issues. If you have advice on all of this.

Guessing is always good, well an educated guess. Unless there are two strikes you do not have to swing. Look for a pitch every time. The pitcher that can get everything over take your 0 for 4.

id say the most important things to focus on are timing for all pitches even if you're sitting something specific, and hitting the ball to all parts of the field with intent to hit it that way (being beat by a fastball inside and putting it to RF is different to taking an outside pitch for a hard line drive to RF)

We used to do an inside out drill. Stand facing your partner with whatever bat you are swining put one end on his chest and the other on yours and stand that far apart. then hit the golf ball wiffles soft toss from behind you where the catcher would be but standing tossing them to try to hit your front toe so you want to come through them at about the belt. Partner still standing there BTW... the exact length of the bat form you... and take full swings

@@BrettShadow I like to have my 7 year olds gather in a circle about 2 feet apart. Toss a ball in the middle and see who can swing the hardest. Really teaches barrel discipline.

@@Joe_Momma205 But for real that is a drill we did in college to stay inside. Both of us be fucking nervous as hell. Only ever saw one dude get barrel slapped across the belly though. Nice strawberry color... looked like somebody took a 4" paint brush in hot pink across at his belly button😅🤣😂

ya wonder how someone like javy baez makes it to the bigs when he doesnt know when to stop chasing pitches.

    • @AntonelliBaseball

He still slugs in the .500s. He does chase a good amount, but has special bat speed and power and does pretty good damage when he does make contact
