first time on killing voice ..they meant they're back since last album. Also Mamamoo is reason killing voice was created as it used to be a platform for only rappers.. Solar , leader wanted to be part show so they created the killing voice. the original was called Killing verse.. for rappers. That's how much their vocals were respected.
While every other kpop fandom out there will _insist_ that one _must_ pick a bias, MooMoos understand entirely if you simply can't pick between these four amazing ladies. It is ALL RIGHT to say "all four are my bias!". We understand, truly, we do. Welcome to the radish field!
@@xheralt I also had the same with SHINee and currently Exo. There's a few groups that debuted 10-ish years ago who had the whole lineup so well trained and talented I couldn't decide xD
Hwasa had a cold that day so she was more nasal than usual and I'm sure the difficulty you noticed in I Miss You was due to her illness. Good catch since you didn't know she was sick. Imo she did a great job of using her voice du jour during this performance. You're right about Hip. It's not a vocal showcase, the choreo goes hard, the MV is a ton of fun, and it's Mamamoo's biggest hit. Hip is a combo of a diss track mocking their haters with a message song that redefines Hip to mean being yourself and doing your own thing rather than the usual slang meaning of cool or trendy. MMM are fans of Billie Eilish, esp Hwasa, who did a duet cover of Wish You Were Gay when MMM competed in the 2019 tv show Queendom and she also recently covered Lunch. It was probably hard to tell in this snippet but musically Hip is much more complex than Bad Guy despite any similarities you may have noticed. Actually rather than saving the best for last they performed their most recent songs last. Dingga was a pre-release single from the Travel album, which came out in 2020 during the pandemic. Dingga is a slang word meaning fool around and have fun and the song was intended to cheer us up while we were socially distant. In the song and MV they fantasize about things they wish they could do with friends of all ages. The final song, Aya, was the main single from Travel. I like it a lot but I think the anti-drop chorus didn't go over well and that's probably the main reason it wasn't a big hit. This session represents a tiny tip of MMM's discography iceberg, which includes hundreds of songs in a wide variety of genres. They started out in 2014 with a retro mashup of Motown and 60's/70's soul with swing jazz, kpop style. Since then they've done everything from jazz, r&b, hip hop and latin pop to bossa nova, reggaeton, rock, EDM, ballads, blues and more. Solar even did a country song for a kdrama OST. Most of their songs are written by the songwriter/producers at their label RBW, often in collab with the group's members, who sometimes write both lyrics and music, and the members have more songwriting credits than any other girl group in kpop history (over 200). Mamamoo's main strength has always been their vocals rather than the compositional complexity or edginess of their music but besides their singing talent I think their vocal arrangements are spectacular. I love how they weave the four different timbres into a compelling songstory tapestry. You rarely hear pop singers display such a variety of vocal techniques, phrasing and use of dynamics without a trace of affectation and their team chemistry is like an all-star jazz band who've been working together for ages. Lol that you chose the Whee fancam. Wheein usually does r&b, pop or ballads in her solo stuff and Whee is the only rock song in her discography.
Thank you for this detailed and informative comment, it’s a great summary. I found the fact that they have the most songwriting credits very interesting and cool. I chose ‘Wheee’ as I wanted something recent to see what she’s up to at this very moment. Cheers ❤️
@@ohacade408 YW. I was amused that you randomly chose one of the most atypical songs in Wheein's discography. Whee came out just before she went on tour earlier this year and I thought it was one of the highlights of the show. Her most recent single is Coco Water, which is a light, breezy summer song. She parted ways with The L1ve two months ago so we won't get anything new from her until she signs with another agency.
thanks for your reaction, Moonbyul is not only one of the best rapper, she never give up being a singer even she was told to be the rapper in order to debut. After years of practicing and learning, she is a singer , she won a landslide victory on a 2022 competition tv show to determine the best singer among 8 very talented girl group rappers from the 2nd, 3rd & 4th generations. They've been doing more solo work since 2018 and became the first kpop group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group is still active
landslide is putting is mildly 😛 Except one episode were they tried to put her down she got all points available. If you want to get her singing I would recommend her Refuge cover from this show, Shutdown with Seori or some older stuff like Eclipse to get something from any direction. Abd BTW: That's them singing in the shower. If you want the real deal listen to their Immortal Songs medley.
Oha you might want to watch their live performances on music competition show "Immortal songs 2" are all 100 % whole another level that shows their live vocals and performance talents that blow anything here .
Solar and Wheein have a pretty similar registry, but it could be said that Solar is more on the loud side while Wheein has a bit more of "soul" on her voice. BTW, there used to be a raw version of this video without any audio or vocal enhancement of the final version. Since the Killing Voice videos are recorded in a regular studio, they don't have a professional audio engineer in-site with a massive console mixing all the voices in real time, that's why they add some artificial fine tuning afterwards. Regardless, Mamamoo still sounds great in the raw version too (overall, you hear less breathing and volume changes due to mic proximity in the final edit).
In Mamamoo, Moonbyul mostly plays out the rapper role but she's actually a really amazing singer too. In fact, out of the 4, Moonbyul actually has the most solo albums. She is the female idol with the most song credits in Korea.
Thank you for appreciating MAMAMOO and Jung Wheein especially! Wheein always put herself at the back (both with her vocal and dance prowess) so that other members could shine better but it's frustrating because she didn't have to do that, the songs always turned out so so well with her vocals ❤ best examples would be their earlier releases starting from "Piano Man", "Decalcomanie", "I Miss You" and "You Are The Best"
to a certain extent i agree with your comment regarding them lacking a bit of spice in their songs (granted their vocals are amazing). but i only feel that way listening to their studio versions, i really feel like mamamoo studio version and lives are on different levels. their live performances are insanely good. can i recommend you to watch their immortal songs medley? maybe watching their live will add context to your comment ❤
The Killing Voice is great but the only songs that are going to be included are either title tracks or fan favorites, so some of the tracks that would better exemplify Mamamoo pushing musical boundaries aren’t really included (I Miss You being the exception because it’s a fan favorite). Whether you choose to react to them or just give them a listen on your own, I recommend you check out: Mamamoo’s Immortal Songs 2 performances “Where Are We Now” “Destiny” “Paint Me” Mamamoo+’s “Save Me” and “Chico Malo” Wheein’s “Goodbye” and “Watercolor” Solar’s “Blues” and “Big Booty” Hwasa’s “Bless U” and “LMM” And Moonbyul’s “Absence” and “Dear” Wheein and Hwasa generally use their solo songs to further what they’ve already done as members of the group, while Solar and Moonbyul like to use their solo songs to do things that they didn’t as part of the group. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t allow Moonbyul to sing in the group’s title tracks so to hear her full out sing, you’re best off looking at her solo tracks and performances.
@@ohacade408 Oh, please react to Mamamoo on immortal songs 2.They remake famous classics and sing in this competition show. This show what put mamamoo on map for their talents in early debut years.. They performed think 10 times and won 3 i believe. Check "delilah" even if it s on your own time to see what mamamoo can really do: ua-cam.com/video/YJfC23ZZjNw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=KBSWORLDTV
You really do need to check out more of their B Sides, I think they may be more to your liking. The Mamamoo discography is very diverse and there are several hundred songs to choose from. I'm sure others will chime in with recommendations.
Wheein's voice is magical She was recently on Jaejoong's show and they sang a brief part of Love in the Ice for fun. It's safe to say thst I almost passed out/away.
One thing to always remember with kpop - while good companies play the individual strengths very well and its easier in smaller groups, the ultimate goal is always a very concise concept and sound, so it's difficult to fully judge a member while they are within the group's constraints. (As a rocker who loves Chanyeol who was given the rap position in his group I was SO delighted to discover he's a guitar-and-song guy 😅)
Moonbuyl competed in a singing show and she sang and did not rap and won. She is a great vocalist in her own right allthough she mostly raps in mamamoo
you did mention in wind flower moonbyul stood out the most for you, and that reminded me there's four albums where one is assigned to each member, and theres a solo song for the specific member in their specific album! afaik, each of the girls represent a season and four colors, the project is named "Four Seasons, Four Colors" Wind Flower (BLUE;S) - Solar (Fall) Starry Night (Yellow Flower) - Hwasa (Spring) Egotistic (RED MOON) - Moonbyul (Summer) gogobebe (White Wind) - Wheein (Winter)
personally i think the songs fit a different member than it should be lol such as egotistic, i'd say that's hwasa's song, not moonbyul's. while wind flower, i'd say it's moonbyul's, not solar's
wow watching this was so pleasurable!! I've watched plenty of mamamoo killing voice reactions but by far the break down and dissection of this one really caught my eye (and its always nice to see some wheein vocal appreciation lol) I know that plenty of people have already recommended it, but their immortal song medley really is such a treat of a video if you want to be able to appreciate more of their vocals in a super fun environment!
Wheein is a ballad Queen, she have won many nominations and awards for her ballads and OST, she is also the most popular member around the R&b musicians, she has so many songs in her discography that you will enjoy so more than the performance that you will be reacting soon (the one in the street). Please check out more videos and live performances from Wheein she is truly amazing
I feel like you will like their b-sides a lott I feel like the spice you wanted in this video are in their bsides...THEY USUALLY SHOWCASE THEIR VOCALS VERY MUCH IIN THEIR BSIDES I WOULD RECCOMEND MY STAR, DESTINY AND MIDNIGHT SUMMER DREAM
I have always enjoyed people discovering Mamamoo and thank you for your honest and very detailed commentaries! i hope you'll enjoy their songs when you do check them out later. Forgive me in advance, because I'm gonna ramble about my favourite girls here! I've been a MooMoo since their debut year! Still my ult group as of today 😉 For ME, i have never seen any entertainment company preparing soo so much for the debut of a Vocal A-team Idol group. They were backed by the most influential vocalists in S.Korea since debut (these singers not the usual K-pop artist or idols known amongst non-Korean fans). Mamamoo was unconventional in so many ways that instead of doing ordinary promotions during any comeback, they would regularly go to a cover song competition program and sing renditions of popular songs sung by legendary Korean singers - it's a show that relies heavily on audience's votes for their live singing. From then on, they became a household name for being THAT idol group that never fails to serve vocals (they were given the nickname 'Always Trust Mamamoo' or 'You Can Always Count on Mamamoo' as they never failed to deliver!) 😆 Their song repertoire is sooo extensive and there's always something for anyone looking. You have the early days Mamamoo jazzy, retro and RnB sound with unique adlibs in their performances. Then there's the generic Pop sound that is usually their title tracks - the ones you found to be not as ear-catching in the video- and these songs are truly more popular among the general public. Non-casual listeners also enjoyed their ballad tracks that (istg) are so good that these songs showed how they are the Queen of Vocals among idol groups. Then, you have the quirky, nonsense songs about mundane things that the girls enjoyed performing everytime : like how 'Dingga' is about wanting to have fun during COVID lockdown, 'Waggy' a song for their pets, 'Taller Than You' the song where our girls diss each other for being 1cm shorter than the other (when in fact, their average height is actually just them being smol 😅) and our personal favourite 'Pink Panty' from their first years haha 🤣
I think so far this was the best reaction I saw, so realistic and far from an exaggeration and I have some mamamoo suggestions for you as you like vocally songs and I'm the same: 1- Paint me (single ver/orchestra ver) 2-ten nights 3-Piano man 4-words don't come easy 5-no more drama 6-memory => a very calm song 7-my hometown 8- gleam => retro 9- reality 10- 4x4ever
Their standing positions were actually chosen by their management because it showcased their best angles so it was purely aesthetic in the beginning. Over time, they got so used to it that even their introductory harmonies get messed up if they stand in different places. There are many funny interviews showing how awkward they are when they are switched around. 😂
I watch a LOT of reaction channels, but yours is truly different! I like how you watch a full song before giving your thoughts, and you have very similar perceptions to mine. As a vocalist, I totally appreciate your honest feedback and commentary! Super refreshing, subscribed!❤
As someone already pointed out, Dingga is a sort of side-track song released at the same time as Aya. It's not a title track but just a fun b-side song for the fans. That being said, would love it if you react to all the side-track 'gag' songs of Mamamoo! They release these type of songs along with each title track of a comeback as a representation of their fun personalities, unserious theme with serious talents, and a gift to their fans as more content! Here are a few I recommend (always turn on eng subs!): - Sleep in the car (about being so busy they only get to sleep in the car) ua-cam.com/video/1M0lzUigono/v-deo.html - Taller than you (dissing each other about their 1cm height difference) ua-cam.com/video/ApyijjOsgrA/v-deo.html - Waggy (song about pets) ua-cam.com/video/ZwdxfBbtJxM/v-deo.html - Aze Gag (about old men and their 'dad jokes') ua-cam.com/video/cnn-jo3KOgs/v-deo.html
Wheein has gathered another fan! I would say that Wheein is my #1 "i did not expect her to sound like that" singer because she has a deep speaking voice and her singing voice is sweet baby angels. I'm shocked at the lack of Dreamcatcher on this channel. I guess it's possible that you've already listened to them and don't like them or like them a lot and want to consume everything as a fan. 😂 They're a girl group with a concept that I would say is "dark social commentary" and a great array of vocal tools at their disposal. Instrumentally there's a big rock(what everyone talks about) and EDM(what most people won't acknowledge) influence and so they tend to have bangers as title tracks. They don't have a Killing Voice but there are many It's Live videos, including one for their latest song Justice.
I’m a little familiar with Dreamcatcher, but I could dive deeper into them. I just haven’t gotten the chance to cover them yet. Scream, Silent Night, and No More are the songs I love, off the top of my head 🤘🏻
I recently saw the Mamamoo and Seventeen stage and absolutely loved it. Another performance I wish we had or might have is Mamamoo and Exo. Both strong vocals and I bet it would sound amazing.
The Mamamoo of 2014-2018 produced the more edgier songs that you enjoy. Not 100% but generally. After 2018 as their popularity grew and as they matured they changed stylistically again into a bit more pop-ier genre. This seems to be what the public wants. This has been a general shift with 3rd and 4th gen KPop music too. Going back to their beginnings, Piano Man, their 2nd release in my mind is their first clear stand out song. Ahh Oop with ESNa is next, followed by I Miss You. You’re the Best in 2016 is where the scored their 1st ever music show win. It’s not one of my favorites but it’s not a typical KPop song either. Decalcomanie in 2016 is right at the top for me and was the 3rd song in killing voice that you liked so much. The MV is wild. Paint Me in 2018 began their forey into their 4 seasons albums and showcases their voices. Also edgier. Starry Night, which you also loved is released then too. After this the MV’s of edgier music has become scarce. Star Wind Flower Sun is hauntingly beautiful and written by Solar for their fans. One of my favorites album tracks is a midnight summer dream. Definitely defines edgy. 😂 I saw Wheein in concert a few months ago in LA. I was blown away by her talent. Seriously. I’ve seen dozens and dozens of concerts. She was right there at the top level. There’s a funny saying fans have about choosing Wheein as a bias. Once you Wheein you can’t Wheeout 😂
Subscribing because Wheein is my ULT Bias in all of Kpop. You should react to her latest album 'IN the Mood' it's truly a work of art with so many different elements I think you would enjoy based on your reaction. I love all of mamamoo, Hwasa is a close second to my girl Wheein which is funny because those two have actually been friends since grade school and pursued a music career together. You should react to their Immortal Songs Medley performance and their pre debut track "Don't be Happy" which features only Solar and Wheein and their stunning vocals. I would recommend watching the lyric video instead of the music video because the MV isn't the full song, but you could watch both cause the MV is fire too lol. Anyways thanks for reacting!
Thanks for your Mamamoo reaction!! I'd second everyone suggesting their Immortal Song medley. And I'd say for an edgier sound, you can't go wrong with the girl group Dreamcatcher. Very cool range of vocal styles and a dark rock-y sound to a good chunk of their discography
MMamamoo and Exo, forever my 2 #1 groups in kpop. I use to avoid Kpop and think it was all just cute bubble gum pop. That is until I discovered Mamamoo and Exo. I really do wish their companies promoted in the west. They seriously are some of the best out there. 😊😊😊
From the Sweater Vest on the left... Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein & Hwasa as you know The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of Jan 2024 - Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 119(2nd most credited famale artist overall... Yoon Mirae at 141), since she writes her own raps(and more) in almost all of the group’s songs. As well as contributing to the songwriting in many of them as well. - Solar has 41 credits to her name. She wrote the lyrics and composition for her solo song, “Spit it Out”. Composer on "Honey". - Hwasa has 47 credits. The lyrics to her solo song, “María”, were praised for its inventive and meaningful wordplay. ("Somebody" w/Loco). - Wheein has 10 credits (that I can find, maybe more) COULD use an Update as they have all released new/more music in 2024 - I'm sure they ALL have more, but I'm having trouble finding the info... if anyone can give me an UPDATE (TY)
Know how sometimes you'll see several photos of a person you know and the pix *kind* of illustrate what they look like but somehow not quite? Mamamoo's songs are like that. Even a medley like this doesn't give a full sense of their sound and what they're capable of. It's tough to recommend only one song (or series of songs) that gives a sense of their essence because their catalogue is so varied. Best solution: listen to everything you can get your hands on! Over time, you'll be able to see the full image the snapshots don't quite capture. :)
honestly Mamamoo's title tracks don't showcase what they can really do with their voices and I've always though this was such a pity. If you really want a taste of what they can do their 'immortal songs' performances are a better choice. Hwasa's voice is one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. Sometimes even if you like an artist or he/she has a gorgeous voice it becomes boring to listen but that's never the case with Hwasa. I don't know if it depends by her stylistic choices or by her vocal timber but it's like listening always to something new and amazing.
Gracias por reaccionar a mamamoo, tienen una discografia muy variada donde, a mi parecer, las baladas son las mejores. Podrias reaccionar a sus b-sides, son muy buenos: bad bye, my star, destiny, ten nights, another day, hello mama. Tambien hicieron muchos ost's para los k-dramas, tanto en grupo como solos.
Love your style of commentary and analysis! Had to subscribe right away :) Please do more MMM reactions! I recommend the Immortal song medley live (compilation of their renditions of old Korean classics) as well as the live version of I miss you - the one they did on Queendom. You will see just how well they tackle the whole song. Esp. Wheein ❤
Great reaction. There are other videos of songs showcasing them. The immortal songs videos and a couple years ago on the Hwasa TV show they did a medley with the full songs 1ellella and Paint me, a ballad at the end with a medley in between of mamamoo songs and solos all live and to a live band. Hip is one of their most popular but it is pretty visual from the video and live performances. Decalcomanie, I recommend the queendom version. I Miss you also has a queendom version to see. Mr Ambiguous was their debut song, won best debut back in 2014. The Egotistic MV is the one to watch, Aya/Dingga aggrabah version is great performance but the Aya MV is next level for production. Though with Mamamoo, Live performances are always the best to watch because they are known in Korea as being the best of the best with live vocal performances. They release 25 songs a year with albums, solos, OSTs and covers. Also they themselves do write lyrics, moonbyul is in fact the most credited female lyricist in her country, only really old guys doing longer than she has been alive have more. They are all musicians as well, especially Solar who on her most recent album has a rock song that starts with a piano ballad but she made her own piano only version, she is playing. They are in their 30s now so they are either composing their own music or have a very very heavy influence on song and MV production. Solar is not just my bias but my favorite singer. All of them have youTube channels but Solar has been on Solarsido for years and has a whole lot of covers worth checking out. Some of the best versions of songs like man in the mirror, cant take my eyes off you, a capella versions of songs like Aya here solo, imagine dragon believer, and more. Moonbyul and Wheein also have channels, they do have covers worth listening too, Hwasa also has a channel but she isnt as active as the others. Sounds like you are a Wheein bias, once you Whee in you cant Whee out. Also check out the Mamamoo+ subgroup with is just Solar and Moonbyul, who does more singing than rapping and also very well produced.
I find it interesting that you found a lot of these songs safe/pop/generic, when thats probably the one thing I would never say about mamamoo's discography. Admittedly some of these ones (gogobebe, dingga, hip) do fall into a more fun, light hearted party song style, and thats also not my personal preference! but I'd be curious to see you check out all the songs from this in full and see if your opinions stayed the same 😅 decalcomanie and egotistic and my personal faves though from this video, and I think they were yours as well, so maybe you'd find more to enjoy on the composition/production side with the full context of the songs.... or maybe not! when it comes to why I find these songs more interesting, I'd say the lighthearted silliness of the lyrics is a BIG part of the appeal. that IS mamamoo's personality, to me. they explore a big range from the heartbreak of I miss you and aya to female empowerment in hip and yes I am, to the frustration of covid lockdowns in dingga (I recommend watching the mv and reading the lyrics to see where that comes in) to pure silliness of sleep in the car or 1cm... honestly I could keep going on and on, but I'll stop there! would love to see you react to more and hear what you think!
When I first was introduced to Mamamoo, I heard them described as "four soloists that happen to be in a group together" and I feel that's really true. Interestingly, no one song truly gives you a solid idea of everything they each can do. For example, Moonbyul and Solar are often seen as "the rapper" and "the powerhouse vocals" when showcased in Mamamoo, but in their solo careers, you see a lot more of their other strengths. Moonbyul is a fantastic singer, and Solar can rap and do much sweeter, gentler vocals. If I was to make any suggestions of their solo careers, Solar's "Honey" is a good example of how she handles both a sweeter, more sultry tune as well as rapping, but "Spit It Out" is a classic. As for Moonbyul, I'd LIKE to recommend 'Think About', but 'Is This Love?' probably showcases more of what she can do as a singer. (I'm only skipping recs for Hwasa and Wheein because they weren't specifically put into singular categories, and I think anyone reading this was already going to check them out anyway, but if not...check every member's solo stuff, they're all talented!) For the group, just check out various songs, really. They have way more variety than Killing Voice showcased. My only hard recommendation is to check if a song you're interested in has a performance version, or an "It's Live/Band LIVE". The live stuff is fun with any group because it strips it down to live vocals & real instruments, and performance is...well, apart from them having a lot of dances that compliment their music, sadly some songs, like HIP, lose a little something without their performative parts.

great reaction... hope you discover more from each member in the future... but i would also recommend to check out BIG MAMA's killing voice. they're kinda an inspiration behind mamamoo's songs and just a group of legendary singers in general.. you'll love their vocals
listen to "where are we now" and "stary night" I think you will like where are we now, stary night is visually wonderful. also because they cut / trim these songs down i dont think they do them the full justice like wind flower.
Wow, I really like the fact that you catch a lot of things and really great insightss! xD I'm looking forward to more reaction to Mamamoo! Subscribing for more!
Obviously they all can sing and all have the technique down......that being said, I do think from a popularity perspective Wheein isn't as popular as the other 3 (for a variety of reasons....she's definitely the most shy/introverted, she doesn't do as much variety and thus isn't in front of the camera as much, but this is like saying Magic Johnson was the 4th best player on the Dream Team) but she, to me, has the strongest technique. She's so effortless jumping back and forth from vocal techniques whether belting, head voice, chest voice, mix, airy singing.....she literally just does it all and she never looks like she's straining
If you react to the video of Decalcomanie (seemed to be your favorite) be aware that there are sections where they insert another song Memory. The queendom performance is a good example of just the song. Some other recomendations would be Where are we Now, and Hello Mama (a b-side no vid).
Just a quick tips, Mamamoo has quite many intense songs but usually they are Bside, not tittle track (because Intense songs are usually not as easy to go viral). If you prefer that style, please check out: Immortal Songs Medley, Decalcomanie, Paint Me, 4x4, Destiny, I Miss You, Where are we now
also! i don't know if you're aware (first time in the channel,) but there's something in kpop called "pre-releases," which are usually a song they release to promote the upcoming album and is a b-side, another song in the album "dingga" was the pre-release for "aya," probably that's why you thought it didn't have much the spice (i thought so too when it released haha)
It's kind of a shame you're not really feeling Moonbyul. She _is_ more than "just" a rapper, but was shoehorned into the role by management -- rap is an essential ingredient to kpop songs, even if "the rapper" is lowest in status of group roles, fewest lines/time in song, least center time in dance formations (unless also main dancer, like SNSD's Hyoyeon) and she got volunteered for it because, well, tbh her voice suffers in comparison to the other three. Moonbyul (aka Moonstar, Byul = star) turned it around by keen appreciation of the genre and writing literally all of her verses. By the time their basic seven-year contract was up, she'd made inroads into the vocalist sphere, particularly in her solo releases, but regrettably, most of Mamamoo's back catalog (which Killing Voice showcased) keeps her in the traditional/limited role.
I can't understand why kpop fans get offended when someone says they don't get along with the rappers. Sometimes you get an strong feeling or feel confortable with other members but just don't feel others. It's not a big thing. We just have different tastes. I love moonbyul but I think the rest of the group is more suitable for my taste. We appreciate music but maybe not in the same way as you. It's a perfectly valid opinion too.
I think a lot of the risks Mamamoo takes is that while their music would fit in fairly seamlessly with western music girl groups, within Kpop, their maturity, comfort with their womanhood and sexuality, and assertiveness is highly unusual. I'm more of a ballad R&B person, and like easy listening, so a lot of their music isn't my style, but I still enjoy it in moderation and respect them from really going against how Korean women are "meant" to behave.
After hearing your interest in Moonbyul's small amounts of singing in this, I would highly recommend you check out one of her solos. I'm thinking Shutdown would be very pleasing for you to listen to. I would also love to see your reaction to Eclipse.
and yes I agree, I've always thought I Miss You was jnot even a half tone, like just a few cents too high, like an imperceptible amount except at the top belts and the slight strain you can see just kinda makes it like a cent off (which for most people is imperceptible)
I’m kinda late and I don’t know if anyone’s already said this. But the concept of killing voice was created for mamamoo. It was originally killing verse for rappers only but solar wanted to do one so dingo created killing voice for her to be able to do it 😂
Thanks for the Mamamoo reaction. If you want a rock sound in K-pop, I recommend Justice by Dreamcatcher. This group has a sound that mixes rock and K-pop.
This is just me being biased but I hope you get to watch Moonbyul's performance in Sencond World, the competition she joined in. At the least, watch/listen to her sing Refuge. It might not make her your bias but maybe it's just my wishful thinking of more people appreciating her more as Moonbyul in and outside of Mamamoo. I'd really love to hear you react to Moonbyul's vocals because one, I love hearing people appreciate my favorite KPop idols, and two, I love your reaction/reviews. I can actually learn something from your reaction content. ❤
Mamamoo is the REASON there IS a "Killing Voice", they were the FIRST. And it's one of the reasons it's so short. Before them it was The "Killing Verse" and featured ONLY Rappers. Speciffically "The Killing Voice" exists because of Solar. SOLAR(w/Mamamoo) wanted to join 'Killing Verse' but WASN'T accepted. So Dingo Music created 'Killing Voice' and Called MAMAMOO. Their video currently has the most Killing Voice views... we need a second one. LOL
Please, react to Inmortal Songs, it's a live show and you can REALLY apreciate their vocal talent. The way they sing it's amazing, i thing you will love the video ❤️❤️
oh PLEASE I hope you react to more of them! As a group, you should watch their Immortal Songs Medley stage, Mamamoo KBC 2022 music festival, and finally their performance of HIP at MAMA 2020. I think that's a perfect starter pack that will show you their full talent and you can decide if you'd like to see more :) Also, based on your commentary I think you'll REALLY like solar and hwasa's solo music!! All of the girls are soloists, and if you react to their solo music I recommend: honey by solar, I'm a B by hwasa, water color by wheein, and shutdown by moonbyul. I genuinely think you'll enjoy yourself with these!!
Please also react to the Killing Voice of AKMU 🥺 They're considered the national treasure of Korea haha they're also known as the Sibling Duo. The brother produces all of their songs and the sister is a living Disney Princess for real!
I think the thing with Dingga is that although the composition is kinda generic, there aren’t many K-pop groups that will sell you on the idea that they’re genuinely having fun with it the way Mamamoo do.
I see what you meant by prefering Intense or Agressive song cause I too like those kind of songs. Don’t worry, Mamamoo has quite a number of those. I suggest you really should react to Mamamoo Immortal Medley (the live performance at their concert)
I actually agree with you. I feel like their later songs are vocally easier to sing and involve more dancing. I also prefer there older songs since they had there own signature to it. The later songs are a bit more generic. In my opinion.
So after watching a couple of your reactions.....it seems, at least for killing voices, you like very lyrical/melodic songs where the vocalist sings through the lyrics (and not chopped up like a typical song), like when the entire group as a whole can sing and has unique vocal tones by member, and covers a variety of genres. Im not sure what you have on your docket, but one thing to maybe put in the queue is a Killing Voice from about 2 weeks ago which is Oh My Girl.....that Killing Voice really hits all those marks
Same! I'm also a Wheein bias, I love her voice the most but Hwasa stays bias wrecking every time lol. Tbh, even though i'm a Wheein bias, I don't think her discography will be your favourite, considering you like more "edgier", "spicy" songs? Wheein's discography is more on the soft pop, soft rock, rnb, chill easy listening side, which I personally love. Her music is more calming, sometimes ethereal, sometimes upbeat. Realistically, if you're looking for more spicy and edgier music, Hwasa will probably be your best bet. Right now she's more in her pop, dance era though so I'm not sure how you'll receive it. Moon Byul will probably be a close second. Because she is the rapper of the group, in her solo music, she is more inclined to showcase her vocals. Her discography is very broad, she experiments a lot and she has a couple of more edgier bass heavy songs but I think her safe space is more soft rock, soft pop band kind of music. Solar also has some pretty good bangers, very versatile. Tbh Her music is all over the place, she is very experimental and enjoys trying different genres. I think its because shes often busy with musicals, youtube and other variety content obligations, she's kind of still in her solo experimental phase, trying to find her pocket. I think she also has the smallest solo discography of the group?..? don't take my word for it tho lol. Songs you might like. Wheein - Trash, Deserve + Shh ( live, unreleased), Make me Happy (ethereal city pop vibes) Hwasa - Chilli, Im a B, Don't, NA (most recent song) Moonbyul - Eclipse, Lunatic, Shutdown, CITT Solar - Spit it Out, Honey, Adrenaline, But I
Just FYI, real moomoos (mamamoo fans) also prefers their more "edgy" songs rather than their generic pop ones lol 😂 for example: HIP was HUGE among regular listener, and it even top the charts for 2 years in a row, but for real fans, that song is mediocre at best, esp among mamamoo's discography 🤣 but hey, numbers can't lie. I'd say, for a real mamamoo experience, you should really get into their B sides, esp their earlier work, before HIP exploded. Also, try checking out their original soundtrack works, cuz THAT is where the REAL hidden gems are at. Some of their underrated side track that I recommend: 1. Hello - Queendom Version 2. Words Don't Come Easy 3. Don't Be Happy (pre-debut song) 4. Diamond 5. Piano Man (its a title track, but underrated af they even skipped it in this medley 😭) And their ost/advertisement songs: 1. Woo Hoo (the live performance version is MUCH more recommended) 2. Gleam 3. Wanna Be Myself 4. Adrenaline (Solar Solo) 5. Orbit (Hwasa Solo)
Respect to the reactor, even wore a mamamoo moustache 👍
Mr. Ambiguous
😂
😂😂😂😂
first time on killing voice ..they meant they're back since last album.
OT4, as they say. ;)
Cheers ❤️
@@ohacade408 please react to wheein debut song "easy" or "watercolor" its so good.mvs
@@ohacade408 I might recommend Wheein's In the Mood album instead. Whee is good, but her second album is just straight up fire.
thanks for your reaction, Moonbyul is not only one of the best rapper, she never give up being a singer even she was told to be the rapper in order to debut. After years of practicing and learning, she is a singer , she won a landslide victory on a 2022 competition tv show to determine the best singer among 8 very talented girl group rappers from the 2nd, 3rd & 4th generations.
They've been doing more solo work since 2018 and became the first kpop group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group is still active
landslide is putting is mildly 😛
Except one episode were they tried to put her down she got all points available.
If you want to get her singing I would recommend her Refuge cover from this show, Shutdown with Seori or some older stuff like Eclipse to get something from any direction.
Abd BTW: That's them singing in the shower. If you want the real deal listen to their Immortal Songs medley.
I would recommend MAMAMOO: "Paint Me', "Where Are We Now', and 'Immortal Songs Medley'.
Subscribing cause you observed Wheein's vocal talent on the first song 😂😂
If you’re interest in Wheein and vocal skills, you would love the album in the mood🤣the song inside is really amazing 🫠
Whether you choose to react to them or just give them a listen on your own, I recommend you check out:
Mamamoo’s Immortal Songs 2 performances
“Where Are We Now”
“Destiny”
“Paint Me”
Mamamoo+’s “Save Me” and “Chico Malo”
Wheein’s “Goodbye” and “Watercolor”
Solar’s “Blues” and “Big Booty”
Hwasa’s “Bless U” and “LMM”
And Moonbyul’s “Absence” and “Dear”
Wheein and Hwasa generally use their solo songs to further what they’ve already done as members of the group, while Solar and Moonbyul like to use their solo songs to do things that they didn’t as part of the group. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t allow Moonbyul to sing in the group’s title tracks so to hear her full out sing, you’re best off looking at her solo tracks and performances.
I subscribed to watch more your mamamoo journey more. You have interesting insights and catch a lot of things.
I appreciate your kind comment, thank you for subscribing ❤️
Wheein's voice is magical
She was recently on Jaejoong's show and they sang a brief part of Love in the Ice for fun.
Do listen to their Immortal Songs concert or the Moosical concert practice, these two are my faves
you did mention in wind flower moonbyul stood out the most for you, and that reminded me there's four albums where one is assigned to each member, and theres a solo song for the specific member in their specific album! afaik, each of the girls represent a season and four colors, the project is named "Four Seasons, Four Colors"
Wind Flower (BLUE;S) - Solar (Fall)
Starry Night (Yellow Flower) - Hwasa (Spring)
Egotistic (RED MOON) - Moonbyul (Summer)
gogobebe (White Wind) - Wheein (Winter)
personally i think the songs fit a different member than it should be lol such as egotistic, i'd say that's hwasa's song, not moonbyul's. while wind flower, i'd say it's moonbyul's, not solar's
wow watching this was so pleasurable!!
From then on, they became a household name for being THAT idol group that never fails to serve vocals (they were given the nickname 'Always Trust Mamamoo' or 'You Can Always Count on Mamamoo' as they never failed to deliver!) 😆
Their song repertoire is sooo extensive and there's always something for anyone looking.
I think so far this was the best reaction I saw, so realistic and far from an exaggeration
and I have some mamamoo suggestions for you as you like vocally songs and I'm the same:
1- Paint me (single ver/orchestra ver)
2-ten nights
3-Piano man
4-words don't come easy
5-no more drama
6-memory => a very calm song
7-my hometown
8- gleam => retro
9- reality
10- 4x4ever
I would add Morning to this list. Also probably My star?
oh, you found them finally :D
That’s ok, you don’t need to so stress and focus on choosing bias with Mamamoo. Just enjoy the music. Thanks for the reaction. Please do more Mamamoo❤
Their standing positions were actually chosen by their management because it showcased their best angles so it was purely aesthetic in the beginning. Over time, they got so used to it that even their introductory harmonies get messed up if they stand in different places. There are many funny interviews showing how awkward they are when they are switched around. 😂
gosh you are very observant, to notice mamamoo all stand same positions since 2014..
I watch a LOT of reaction channels, but yours is truly different! I like how you watch a full song before giving your thoughts, and you have very similar perceptions to mine. As a vocalist, I totally appreciate your honest feedback and commentary! Super refreshing, subscribed!❤
Oh yasssss🎉
Let's the mamamoo journey beggiiiiiinnn ❤❤❤
As someone already pointed out, Dingga is a sort of side-track song released at the same time as Aya. It's not a title track but just a fun b-side song for the fans.
That being said, would love it if you react to all the side-track 'gag' songs of Mamamoo! They release these type of songs along with each title track of a comeback as a representation of their fun personalities, unserious theme with serious talents, and a gift to their fans as more content!
Here are a few I recommend (always turn on eng subs!):
- Sleep in the car (about being so busy they only get to sleep in the car) ua-cam.com/video/1M0lzUigono/v-deo.html
- Taller than you (dissing each other about their 1cm height difference) ua-cam.com/video/ApyijjOsgrA/v-deo.html
- Waggy (song about pets) ua-cam.com/video/ZwdxfBbtJxM/v-deo.html
- Aze Gag (about old men and their 'dad jokes') ua-cam.com/video/cnn-jo3KOgs/v-deo.html
Imagine if he sees seventeen's and Mamamoo's stage together :D
I recently saw the Mamamoo and Seventeen stage and absolutely loved it.
Another performance I wish we had or might have is Mamamoo and Exo. Both strong vocals and I bet it would sound amazing.
@@Ming3484 strong vocals and also very good performance. Love these groups.
I saw Wheein in concert a few months ago in LA.
Ult qWheein yesss
Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein & Hwasa as you know
The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of Jan 2024
- Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 119(2nd most credited famale artist overall...
- Wheein has 10 credits (that I can find, maybe more)
COULD use an Update as they have all released new/more music in 2024
- I'm sure they ALL have more, but I'm having trouble finding the info... if anyone can give me an UPDATE (TY)
You just listen to their albums and watch live performances and you'll be satisfied even with songs you did not like much listening now.
honestly Mamamoo's title tracks don't showcase what they can really do with their voices and I've always though this was such a pity.
I don't know if it depends by her stylistic choices or by her vocal timber but it's like listening always to something new and amazing.
subscribed, honest yet appreciative
Mamamoo has more spectacular songs, I hope that when they make CB there is a second part of Killing Voice.
Gracias por reaccionar a mamamoo, tienen una discografia muy variada donde, a mi parecer, las baladas son las mejores.
Podrias reaccionar a sus b-sides, son muy buenos: bad bye, my star, destiny, ten nights, another day, hello mama.
Tambien hicieron muchos ost's para los k-dramas, tanto en grupo como solos.
Love your style of commentary and analysis! Had to subscribe right away :)
Please do more MMM reactions!
I recommend the Immortal song medley live (compilation of their renditions of old Korean classics) as well as the live version of I miss you - the one they did on Queendom. You will see just how well they tackle the whole song. Esp. Wheein ❤
Great reaction to Mamamoo's Killing Voice! I'll join the others and recommend you to react to their Immortal Songs Medley.
(I'm only skipping recs for Hwasa and Wheein because they weren't specifically put into singular categories, and I think anyone reading this was already going to check them out anyway, but if not...check every member's solo stuff, they're all talented!)
For the group, just check out various songs, really. They have way more variety than Killing Voice showcased. My only hard recommendation is to check if a song you're interested in has a performance version, or an "It's Live/Band LIVE". The live stuff is fun with any group because it strips it down to live vocals & real instruments, and performance is...well, apart from them having a lot of dances that compliment their music, sadly some songs, like HIP, lose a little something without their performative parts.

killing verse는 래퍼들을 위한 쇼이기 때문에 보컬리스트를 위한 쇼가 필요했고 dingo music은 killing voice 쇼를 새로 만들었습니다.
mamamoo는 killing voice의 첫번째 호스트입니다
great reaction... hope you discover more from each member in the future... but i would also recommend to check out BIG MAMA's killing voice. they're kinda an inspiration behind mamamoo's songs and just a group of legendary singers in general.. you'll love their vocals
listen to "where are we now" and "stary night" I think you will like where are we now, stary night is visually wonderful. also because they cut / trim these songs down i dont think they do them the full justice like wind flower.
Mamamoo is the most Chaotic Group...thats why i stan them..💜
Subscribing because you appreciate TALENT
If you prefer that style, please check out: Immortal Songs Medley, Decalcomanie, Paint Me, 4x4, Destiny, I Miss You, Where are we now
also! i don't know if you're aware (first time in the channel,) but there's something in kpop called "pre-releases," which are usually a song they release to promote the upcoming album and is a b-side, another song in the album
"dingga" was the pre-release for "aya," probably that's why you thought it didn't have much the spice (i thought so too when it released haha)
can you please react to mamamoo masterpiece ballad "Where are we now' it really showcase unique voclas tones
Mamamoo 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Moonbyul might only rap in Mamamoo title tracks (and some harmonies) but her vocals are up there with the rest of them.
Vocal suggestion... "Paint me" from Mamamoo. Even the rapper sings, truly beautiful.
After hearing your interest in Moonbyul's small amounts of singing in this, I would highly recommend you check out one of her solos. I'm thinking Shutdown would be very pleasing for you to listen to. I would also love to see your reaction to Eclipse.
❤❤❤❤❤
and yes I agree, I've always thought I Miss You was jnot even a half tone, like just a few cents too high, like an imperceptible amount except at the top belts and the slight strain you can see just kinda makes it like a cent off (which for most people is imperceptible)
hwasa new album. 'O" please react to hwasa bsides on the album not the title track "NA" as that song doesn't showcase hwasavery unique vocals
the acoustic version of NA could be e good choice too but I agree, it would be interesting to watch a full album reaction
ofc Decalcomanie draws ur attention..pls do see their live performance at queendom of that song.
I hope you can check it out OH MY GIRL Killing Voice. They also same company with Mamamoo which is subsidiary (WM) with (RBW).
Solar is one of my favs, love her duet with Changsub from BtoB on her channel Solarsido. Particularly their version of I Miss You.
SOLAR 👏👏👏🤭😘😍🥰
This is just me being biased but I hope you get to watch Moonbyul's performance in Sencond World, the competition she joined in. At the least, watch/listen to her sing Refuge. It might not make her your bias but maybe it's just my wishful thinking of more people appreciating her more as Moonbyul in and outside of Mamamoo. I'd really love to hear you react to Moonbyul's vocals because one, I love hearing people appreciate my favorite KPop idols, and two, I love your reaction/reviews. I can actually learn something from your reaction content. ❤
You should react to mamamoo imortal songa Medley please
Mamamoo is the REASON there IS a "Killing Voice", they were the FIRST. And it's one of the reasons it's so short.
Before them it was The "Killing Verse" and featured ONLY Rappers.
Speciffically "The Killing Voice" exists because of Solar. SOLAR(w/Mamamoo) wanted to join 'Killing Verse' but WASN'T accepted.
So Dingo Music created 'Killing Voice' and Called MAMAMOO. Their video currently has the most Killing Voice views... we need a second one. LOL
If you love vocals, I'm sure you'll love Big Mama Killing Voice ❤
Please, react to Inmortal Songs, it's a live show and you can REALLY apreciate their vocal talent. The way they sing it's amazing, i thing you will love the video ❤️❤️
oh PLEASE I hope you react to more of them! As a group, you should watch their Immortal Songs Medley stage, Mamamoo KBC 2022 music festival, and finally their performance of HIP at MAMA 2020. I think that's a perfect starter pack that will show you their full talent and you can decide if you'd like to see more :)
Also, based on your commentary I think you'll REALLY like solar and hwasa's solo music!! All of the girls are soloists, and if you react to their solo music I recommend: honey by solar, I'm a B by hwasa, water color by wheein, and shutdown by moonbyul. I genuinely think you'll enjoy yourself with these!!
would love to see you listen to big mama's killing voice!!!
Solar ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🤟🤙👊
In my opinion.
the only female kpop group i follow. and Hwasa is my fave . They do have other videos with very vibrant outfits.
Recommend EXID's killing voice performance ❤
React to mamamoo immortal songs medley ,its the best 😊
i loved your reaction please react Twice killing voice too and more mamamoo
LINKIN PAAARKKKKKKKKK PLEASEEE
Wheein - Trash, Deserve + Shh ( live, unreleased), Make me Happy (ethereal city pop vibes)
Hwasa - Chilli, Im a B, Don't, NA (most recent song)
Moonbyul - Eclipse, Lunatic, Shutdown, CITT
Solar - Spit it Out, Honey, Adrenaline, But I
Please listen to mamamoo immortal song medley
Some of their underrated side track that I recommend:
1. Hello - Queendom Version
2. Words Don't Come Easy
3. Don't Be Happy (pre-debut song)
4. Diamond
5. Piano Man (its a title track, but underrated af they even skipped it in this medley 😭)
And their ost/advertisement songs:
1. Woo Hoo (the live performance version is MUCH more recommended)
2. Gleam
3. Wanna Be Myself
4. Adrenaline (Solar Solo)
5. Orbit (Hwasa Solo)
dejare una recomendación respecto a WHASA , en el grupo refund sister,
