For context, Dingga is a Pandemic song about being trapped inside wanting to hang out with friends. Also, that year, Korea had amazing weather (a summer with no humidity which never happens plus no fine dust warning days) so it made it hit harder that we couldn't hang out with our friends.
Also, on a singing survival show, Mamamoo re-worked the song "I Miss You" to a fan appreciation song. Hits even a little bit harder when they aren't singing to a random person but to the fans.

They came out with Dingga at such a perfect time. The way the fandom was missing Mamamoo, but we were all also missing our friends and family due to lockdown. Nothing better than lamenting about how much everyone was wasting on delivery fees and wanting to finally have fun with our friends!

I miss you is a type of song that can make even a grown ass metalhead like me shed tears, not because of the song or lyrics but of the heavenly vocal power of the mighty Mamamoo. Indeed, Queens of the Moomoo nation.
Big Mama (the elder Queens of vocals) also has a Killing Voice performance. It's as outstanding as Mamamoo.

Immortal Song Medley , would be the next in a Mamamoo journey for most. It is a vocal masterpiece of Mamamoo covering classic and famous Korean songs of other artist. Also its a small part of one of their live shows.
It's so spectacularly entertaining that you just want them to go on forever, right? And you may not even speak the same language,.. somehow it just doesn't matter. This group is 100% CLASS!!! The 4 of them (or in fact, any number of them) on a live stage is just OUTRAGEOUSLY fantastic. Moonbyul writes her own rap verses too. So it it really coming from her completely when she chimes in. Not at all silly to say it,... They've got good chemistry.
You went from no title track to the one with almost all title tracks... I just been listening to them nonstop since 2018. This video covers their music diversity and their talent.
I think Solar said they're back with the Killing Voice meaning that they had just released a new album after almost a year since their previous album rather than that this was a return visit to Killing Voice since this was their first and only time on Killing Voice. MMM was the first group to be invited - previously Killing Voice had only featured soloists.
Nice call asking how many songs include their name. I've never counted but it's quite a few. In the case of the first song, which is titled Mr Ambiguous in English, there's a reason for it. The song was originally called Mamamoo. The co-CEO of RBW, Kim Dohoon, wrote the song for Quincy Jones and the girls performed it for him when he was in Seoul for a concert while they were still trainees and didn't have a name for their group. QJ decided not to use the song so KDH partially rewrote it and retitled it Mr Ememoho (Mr Ambiguous), gave it to the girls for their debut single, and the original song title became the name of the group. Mamamoo started off with a bunch of songs that were a mix of jazz, swing, and 60's soul & rock. Mamamoo's early days are called their Retro Era.
You may need a reminder when you get around to Gogobebe but I'll explain the numerology of Moonbyul's rap just for fun. First off, MMM likes to play with letter, number and word substitutions and gogobebe is aka 9966 with 9 replacing g and 6 replacing b.. "9 / 6, 6 19" is a palindrome with the slash becoming a one when reversed but of course there's more to it. 9 to 6 is the standard Korean work day. 6 19 is their debut date in 2014. So the line "9 / 6, 6 19 Gogobebe!" translates to something like "We've been working non-stop since our debut and it's time to Go, go, baby and Par-tay!" During an encore after a tv music show win for Gogobebe they tried to form 9966 with their bodies but did it backwards so it came out as 6699. Naturally yeba leader caused the mixup lol. I'm sure non-fans were asking what the hell they were doing and then passed it off as just another example of Mamamoo being Mamamoo.
If it makes you feel any better Mamamoo is one of the few artists who makes me cry, mostly because of Solar. Imo the more you get to know them the worse it gets. At first I was shocked when the member I thought of as a ditsy airhead with pipes made me cry during one of their ballads on the Immortal Songs tv show but I soon revised my first impression of Solar and don't fight the tears anymore. Here's a short list of 5 hankie emotional wrecking balls to avoid if you really don't want to cry: I Love Too (aka Never Letting Go, their first fan song), I Miss You (live on Queendom), Backwoods (Immortal Songs 2 tv show), Nada Sou Sou (Solar solo cover). But imo they're some of Mamamoo's best songs and performances so I think you should bring tissues and have a good sob. 😭
Notes: You must watch I Love Too on MMM's yt channel for subtitles, which are important. I Miss You on Queendom is safe for reactions. Backwoods on Immortal Songs 2 is not safe for reactions unless you filter the video.
to be a little more specific about your first point, prior to mamamoo there was no such thing as killing voice. there was only killing verse which featured rappers. but when solar contacted the producers about being on the channel they knew they had to change the format to accommodate mamamoo. and so killing voice was born.

The Wheein song with Colde at the end is a fantastic jazz song that plays really well into Wheein's airy honey tone. One of my top 10 if not top 5 songs from them. I'm not sure if its copyright safe to react to it on the channel (since I've never seen anyone actually react to it) but if you're into soft jazz and rnb I'd definitely recommend giving it a listen!

Im not sure if anyones recommended this but I noticed you guys like their crack tracks lol so recommending "Um Oh Ah Yeah", its one of their title tracks so has an MV. Yall can just figure out what happens in that MV when you get to it but their styling in that is A++ 😂
Two of my favorite songs by Mamamoo that I like to watch are Queendom Mamamoo I Miss You. They dedicate the song to their fans, moomoo's and the MV Where Are We Now. I watch both alot and hopefully you react to them soon.

I highly recommend the live Queendom performance of I Miss You, I mean maybe not if you don't want to cry, but it's beautifully emotional! This is definitely one of my favourite Killing Voices along with Taeyeon, IU, AKMU, BTOB, KARA and EXO, I hope SHINee will get to do one next comeback!
Can't wait for you to get to some of these MVs, apart from their funny MVs like 1cm and Aze Gag my personal favourites from them are their earlier more retro songs, also their ad songs like Whoo Hoo, Gleam and Wanna Be Myself have no business being as good as they are

If you really want to cry and sob, find the I love Too (never letting go) live Moosical performance. I am tearing up just typing the title. If you want a more recent medley, Last year they released the Mamamoo Hit Songs Live Collection which aired on Episode 8 of the Hwasa TV show. They do the full song 1llella, a medley of songs and solos and end it with the full song Paint Me, another one to cause tears and they do this to a live band, they sound even better now they are ages 28 to 32

Solar has been the main driving force of their crackhead energy, and youll notice she was goofing off to entertain the other members. Its part of her leadership style.
I love Mamamoo, they were my introduction into kpop. I even have a Mamamoo tattoo now lol. Im really happy that you guys enjoy them aswell. We jsut saw them live a couple of months ago, it was great, they slayed every song. I would like to suggest the group (G)I-dle... They are unique, self produced and yet another style within kpop. They have a dingo killing voice aswell, maybe start with that to see if you like them
I love your Mamamoo reactions! It takes me back to two years ago when I became a Moomoo and was exploring their music and performances for the first time.
You may know the word “decal” which refers to the little transfers/stickers that you might add to a Lego or Airfix model kit. It is short for “decalcomania” or, in French, “décalcomanie”. Somehow that rare word in English (I don’t know if it is rare in French) has become a very common English/French loan word in Korea. Jungkook of BTS has a solo song called “Decalcomania” for example. The metaphorical meaning is that of an exactly copied image, so perhaps referring to two people who have come to resemble or mirror each other.
The MV for that song is brilliant and also not entirely unstrange. Let me instead share my two favourite live performance videos:

Mamamoo was at the forefront of kpop for a lot of years but other groups barely ever covered their songs because they are just... too... difficult... for any group that isn't ALL main vocalists. When Hip came out they publicized it is vocally much less difficult so they can focus more on dancing during performances. It's also the song most often covered by other groups. Vocally they are an all-star team playing in the regular season.
The only thing in this video that isn't great is the light autotune the producers recorded with that Mamamoo doesn't even need in the first place. It's built to work with steady tones so it smoothed out and diminished Hwasa's raspy voice.
Now you have listened to this you need to listen to The Killing Voice performed by BtoB who are the male vocal Kings. Also if you want to watch some great female and male K-pop performances watch the tv show Kingdom: Legendary War and Queendom, you won’t regret it.

Okay so the "mamamoo mamamoo" parts that they sings a lot in early era. basically it's from their first debut track lyrics.

In 2013 before they got debut, "Mr. Ambiguous", originally written in english for the one and only Quincy Jones by their CEO. And they sing it in front of Quincy Jones at his opening after party concert. Since Quincy Jones didn't use it, the company decided to use it as the name for the group.

Mamamoo is the REASON there IS a "Killing Voice", they were the FIRST. And it's one of the reasons it's so short.
Before them it was The "Killing Verse" and featured ONLY Rappers.
Speciffically "The Killing Voice" exists because of Solar. SOLAR(w/Mamamoo) wanted to join 'Killing verse' but WASN'T accepted.
Then Dingo Music created 'Killing Voice' and called MAMAMOO. Their video currently has the most Killing Voice views... we need a second one.

You would be really surprised meeting them in person. They are incredibly down to earth. I'd say Wheein would actually be shy to meet you, and slowly warm up. Hwasa would be making sure she did everything she could to make you feel comfortable. Solar would be 100% Solar craziness because she has no other mode and get you to laugh play along. Moonbyul would subtly make sure you were included in everything, make sure Solar doesn't embarrass you too much, and probably get you in a group hug with Hwasa. 😂

I think their early songs incorporated "mamamoo" into the lyrics as a means of promoting themselves, having the listeners remember their group's name. RBW- their company wanted to promote them as musical artists and not as another bubblegum kpop group. Obviously, their small company didn't do a good job promoting them like the big companies (YG, JYP, SM). It's thanks to their vocal prowess, versatility, stage presence, charisma that made them big in So. Korea. They have a varied and very extensive discography both as a group and as soloists. They participate in composing their songs so maybe that's why they don't have to wait long to release songs while other artists depend on composers to write for them. Last year 2023 (their 9th year) was when they had their first US tour. It will be a while until these 4 ladies get together for another tour as 2 members Hwasa and Wheein have left the company. Still hoping all 4 will have time to put together something for their 10th anniversary this year. Solar and Moonbyul have formed a subunit Mamamoo+. All 4 are concentrating on their individual solo careers at the moment. Happy that you discovered and enjoyed their songs. Thanks for the reaction video.
