Thus the scream. He's also the youngest and a total dork. 3: is the leader and arguably the most talented singer. He can belt like nobody's business but is completely holding back in this session since their mics are sensitive. Look for "eunkwang golden singer" and "eunkwang duet song festival" you will die a little. 4: is super talented and the smart, relatively normal one. Also does a lot of composing. 5 (my favorite): is probably the second most talented singer, definitely the most agile, and by far the strangest person you've ever laid eyes on. The dorkiest in a group of dorks. Also, if you heard someone go flat or break, it's probably Subbie (his name is Changsub); he's known for being ridiculously talented and also breaking a lot lol. 3 and 5 are classically trained and have been singing together since they were little. 6: is the sweetest man alive and yes, has some confidence issues on the stage. He was born in the USA and kpop fans can be cruel to foreigners. But in his element, such a badass. Look up BtoB masked singer, duet song festival, golden singer for some of the best vocals to grace UA-cam. And look up BtoB Crack to understand why we love them. They are all very close, very talented, and extremely weird. In the kpop industry, this group is known for best male vocals in their generation. Mamamoo is known for best female vocals in the generation, so they should probably be your next video. Mamamoo is also full of talent and hella weird.
Kpop fans aren't cruel to foreigners lol. He just lacks charm and talent. If anything, k fans may not like toxic international fans who think that way and consider every little thing as discrimination. Of course groups will always have less popular members and it has nothing to do with the nationality.

Their early songs are actually more upbeat but they felt that those doesn't really match well with them at that time, so they tried a ballad song (It's Okay) which exploded and gained them a reputation as healing-idols. Since then, their title songs lean more towards ballad, and they became really well known for their vocals and beautiful ballad. They still have some upbeat title songs after that, such as 'Movie', but most of their other upbeat songs are in their B-side of their albums. They are also known as Beagle-dol(Beagle-like idol) due to their funny and laid-back personality. They are very well respected in the industry for being really talented, as well as being polite but playful with their seniors and juniors. I think this isn't very well known among i-Melodies because whenever he mentions / refers to it, the translations for it doesn't seem to spread around the fandom. It was actually revealed that there was post-production audio issues since members voices kept flowing into the other members mics (so they say) 28:10 there is meant to be a long high note by no.4 as no.2 sings. You can hear it faintly. It had been drowned out. 31:30 the harmony of the vocal members here arent as clear-cut as it usually is.

It’s an interesting theory that The Song was included in this set list to give them a bit of vocal rest, but I think it was included because it was their first title track after all the members were finally discharged from the military, and it is also kind of a love song to the fans (BtoB fandom is called Melody) this makes it an important song to both the fans and the group because after many years all the members of BtoB (except Ilhoon who left the group due to a scandal, but that’s another story) are finally reunited with each other and Melody as represented by The Song. So it was included probably even more for sentimental reasons rather than practical.
Yes, Westlife! I'm pretty sure the whole world knows about them and yes, BTOB are often compared to them, as well as Boyz II Men and Backstreet Boys. BTOB's ballads are their biggest hits, but their discography is very diversed. I think their concerts are longer than 1,5 hours, I think it's more like 2,5h with some breaks and solo performances! They are also known for never ever lipsyncing, 100% live always, they call them "group you can trust in live performances"! Whenever you point out a cool and creative composition it is always Hyunsik's composed songs! (The forth guy from left!). MissingYou, Only One For Me, Someday, I'll Be Your Man, Be Together. You also liked Higher, the first guy, Minhyuk's composed song AND It's Okay. The last song is called Finale Our Concert and third guy's epic moment was in Blue Moon (Minhyuk's composition). Other than these, BTOB's discography is very diversed, you might like their eralier stuff and some newest up-beat songs, such as: Thriller, WOW and maybe Movie, Outsider, Finale Show And Prove, Come With Eerie, Anymore, Blowin' Up, Yes I am, LUV, Outro: Encore. 34:02 that's just BTOB! Before this, the second guy, Sungjae (unhinged is a perfect word to describe him, as you can see at 34:26) he was telling Eunkwang, the third guy and the leader of the group, that he saw his spit flying while he was singing earlier. LOL That's what they're laughing at. They are so unserious, all of them are absolute goofballs as individuals and especially together! They've talked many times about how thier managers and CEO tried to calm them down and remind them that they are "idols" and "should act a certain way", but they gave up early on. They've stayed the same since before debut, it's just how they are. The only thing they take seriously is their individual career in other parts of the entertainment buisness, such as acting, musical acting and hosting shows, and especially their music, other than that, NOTHING is serious for them! They're hilarious and they get along really well! Btw, 2nd guy, Sungjae is a well known actor. 3rd guy, Eunwkang and fifth guy, Changsub are musical actors! Peniel the last guy, struggles with low confidence and stress a lot. He has alopecia and lost 70% of his hair at one point. They think it's due to stress. He's not as trained as the other members in music, he doesn't have the same background and education in music, so he's learned a lot from them I assume as well as he possesses enough talent to hold his own. He has a very laid back personality and he's like the balance in the group. He also uses a lot of english in his lyrics so their songs are more approachable and easy to listen to for non-Korean speakers. Some of his parts here is from a former member's parts as well. BTOB is such a fun group! I love watching their live performances because they don't take themselves too seriously. Their voices always sound amazing, but they also like to play around on stage and include ad-libs or funny moments. Dingo admitted to editing their voices. Apparently they were that loud everyone's voices were picked up by several microphones. When Peniel forgot the lyrics, please forgive him, they were not his lyrics, he was doing a past members part. Several members have a theatrical background. I don't know about BTOB but Stray Kids concert was a little over 3 hours. They take breaks and do comentary on occasion. Having said that the members of BTOB are more vocally involved in each song than Stray kidsbut Stray Kids do alot of dancing. Also wanted to add ever since Kingdom Legendary War, BTOB and SKZ are very close. SKZ have mega respect for BTOB.

Except SM groups,this group probably has the strongest vocal line out of all male groups. Original BTOB has 7 members,one member left the group because drug scandal,from left to right are Minhyuk,Sungjae,Eunkwang,Hyunsik,Changsub and Peniel The member Eunkwang and Changsub also did many musicals,Eunkwang and Junsu play same character Arthur in musical Xcalibur 2021 production. According to your reaction I believe you may like the vibe of - "Thriller", - "Yes I Am", - "Show and Prove", - “WOW”, - "Bull's Eye", - "Friend", - "Red Lie", - "Show Your Love", - "The Feeling" - "Dance With Me". BtoB's (Born to Beat) fandom name is called Melody, cause “Every Beat Needs a Melody”. Originally there were 7 people in the group, but their rapper Ilhoon left in 2020. But being versatile, all members can rap and sing to “fill in the gaps” whenever it is his verse coming. Changsub (orange collar guy), Hyunsik (white shirt & tie guy) and Eunkwang (dark blue sweater guy) studied Practical Music in college (Changsub and Hyunsik with a crazy acceptance rate of a cutthroat 3000:5 ratio at their year), and Changsub and Eunkwang are both musical theatre actors. Hyunsik and Minhyuk (far left rapper in blue shirt with the speaking voice) compose and write most of BTOB songs and Sungjae (second left wearing white shirt with blue lines) is a really popular actor who even received some awards for his acting. Peniel (grey sweater) is an American-Korean who has a bright voice and even brighter personality (whenever his lines pop up I cannot hold myself but smile and feel a bit happier). All of them have solo albums or tracks in somewhat different music styles (Changsub (rock-ish style), Sungjae (more pop, but you should check his recent cover on Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things"), Eunkwang (ballads), Hyunsik (alternative rock), Minhyuk (tracks in his albums are the most versatile in genres) and Peniel (rap, dance). #4 that you really liked is Lim Hyunsik. His solo music is definitely worth your time, especially his recent release La Mar. He (and Lee Changsub to his left) studied at one of SK's most prestigious music schools where he was taught by 2 of the members of Big Mama (one of the OG girl groups who also have a Killing Voice that is VERY worth checking out).

I actually saw some producers talking about pitch corrections when producing a song and they said that normal pitch correction for a song is between 400 and 600 but with BTOB it is generally less than 100 per song. I was fascinated by that information. There was a couple songs where the producers said that there was less than 5 pitch corrections per member, which I feel is incredible. Edit: actually, #2 & #5 are generally the 2 who are bothering each other but they are all a little unhinged and crazy so any of them are liable to be pestering one of the others. I would recommend their albums Brother Act, Be Together, & Wind & Wish; also check out their early work Insane, Wow, Thriller, Movie, & I’ll Be Your Man. BTOB subunit BTOB4U (unit while #2 & #4 were in their mandatory military service) - Show Your Love & Outsider (although both albums - Inside & Outsider might be your speed). Vocal line subunit BTOB Blue - check out their live performances, it is incredible. I also recommend checking out their solos - #1 (Minhyuk - Ya, Boom, & Tonight with Melody); #2 (Sungjae - WAU, Chicken, Hypnotized (with #6 Peniel), HMHN (with Ilhoon, member who left the group), & Come with the Wind (ballad)); #3 (Eunkwang - No One Knows (ballad) and his performances on Immortal Songs); #4 (Hyunsik - Dear Love, La Mar, Swimming, & Black); #5 (Changsub - Gone, Surrender, and his live performances); #6 (Peniel - Valentine, Flip, Fly23, and That Girl).
#1, Lee Minhyuk, is actually a really good singer and producer too - he said somewhere that he raps because he likes it, not because he can't sing. He has two solo albums with very varied styles, a few collaborations etc. #2, Yook Sungjae dropped a cover of Benson Boone's Beautiful Things a few days ago - you'd love that one! Singer #3 is Seo Eunkwang, the leader of the group. He is insanely talented; you may want to check out his performance of The Man from Immortal Songs part 2, it really showcases his range and voice control! As for #4, Im Huynsik, he just released a new solo album with self-composed songs that are completely in his own color and vibe - there are some upbeat songs in there you might really like! #5, Lee Changsub is a musical actor as well as a singer - I think you can tell in the song This is Us towards the end when he sings 'Baby it's alright ~' It's like he kicks in another gear, I really love it. #6 Peniel Shin, his raps are actually among the more impactful in my opinion. The lyrics he writes are frank, sometimes even blunt, which is very refreshing. Earlier in their career he was still learning Korean (He's from Chicago, US) which explains why his parts were few. In Wind and Wish, their latest comeback, he got the entire second verse and even sang! ^^ As someone who also loves rock and metal music, I've found that much of the appeal with BTOB in the beginning lies in the lyrics. Yes, their voices are great, but what really stands out to me is the way they speak to the listener and make you feel included. They are often called Healing idols, which you'll probably understand if you catch the lyrics to the song It's Okay, which you pointed out as being extra interesting. The rappers basically write the lyrics for their own part and Peniel lyric's are always beautiful. He writes his lyrics in English and Korean (he's a Korean-American) so it's easy to understand for the English parts. If you look up into his lyrics, you will realize that he's a poet. And that time during Killing Voice filming (Wind and Wish era), Peniel suffered from back injury that's why he's kinda passive and not taking a lot parts. He's actually a cheerful and playful guy. I recommend you to check the full version of Higher and Finale: Our Concert. Those songs are lit. Aside from the Killing Voice playlist, I'd like to recommend you to react Movie. They’re in the industry for more than 10 years already which is considered to be very long in Kpop industry. Especially with almost COMPLETE member (only 1 member left). And they are still popular up till now. Some kpop groups do last longer than normal, but usually their popularity go down quite a lot. But BTOB still maintain their popularity especially in Korea. And actually they started as a dance group. So you can find a more upbeat songs from them from their early years. Some of the popular ones : Insane, WOW, Beep Beep, Movie, and a lot more. For Paniel, the 2nd rapper, yes, he doesnt really have much part in their songs, but he actually one of the writer for the group. As u might already know by now, now they are a self producing group which a lot of the songs made by hyunsik, paniel and minhyuk. Previously it was hyunsik, minhyuk and ilhoon (the member that left the group)
I think Peniel's writing is pretty much limited to his raps. The rappers have been writing their own parts since the beginning with the exclusion of a few songs.
Regarding the slip up of Guy #6 (Peniel)...yup, i laughed at it as well. 😂 But as a background...the part that he rapped in the third song was actually not his. The member who rapped that part originally (2012 song) sadly had to leave the group a couple of years back due to unfortunate circumstances. So we ought to cut him a bit of slack for forgetting some of the lyrics. Still....totally agree that it was funny as hell. 😅

42:00 their concerts are usually around 2-2.5 hours long with brief breaks and solo performances. Changsub (guy #5) did have vocal nodules in 2018, right before he did his military service. He picked up new vocal techniques in the military and developed his lower register (he had a much higher voice before). I remember him saying that there are some high notes he did before that he can't hit now.

Love how you described no.5's voice as a delicate flute like tone, that's how I think of him as well. BTOB is known for their ballads and just generally slower more sentimental songs, so a lot of the songs picked for this Killing Voice video are ballads. I would say their discography is about 75% slow or mid tempo songs, they do have faster songs not featured here. The one with the fastest beat here (titled Higher) and the jazzy musical theatre song (Blue Moon) are written by rapper no 1. Some other ballads that you liked with the dramatic vibe (like Be Together or the Encore song at the end) are written by no 4.

My all time favorite boy bands of all time are WESTLIFE and BTOB Their songs are meaningful and both groups vocals are top-tier. BTOB is like Westlife of the East, talent wise and both are very versatile. They can sing any genre BTOB goofing around while performing is their natural thing, they were actually being more extra off stage
Peniel (#6) is more the mood-maker of the group. He was also born and raised in Chicago, so Korean isn't his native language. He could not speak any Korean at all when he joined the company. He ends up with less parts generally unless they're in English because of that. When they were more choreography-heavy in the beginning, he had a lot of dance highlights. As someone who has been a casual fan of them for seven years now, no, they aren't playing it up for the camera. This is in fact calm for them. You are surprised how they have the vocal stamina to perform a 1-3hr concert, and I am to, because I have seem their pre performance videos were they are playing the "how long can I hold this note game", screaming, singing random songs, and running around like crazy people.
If you like more heavy and upbeat, you can usually find them more on their b-side tracks (Blowin’ Up, Naviety, Bull’s Eye, Dance with Me, etc) Love how you spot every detail, including the dorky stuff they’re doing 😂 I look forward for more reactions (btw the 1st (Lee Minhyuk/HUTA) and 4th (Im Hyunsik) are also producer/composer)

Based on what I noticed, you liked their b-sides more (they tend to be more upbeat or epic and really diverse!) - so you might enjoy listening to Brother Act and Be together albums. Also Higher which if I got it correctly was the most your style was produced by Minhyuk (the rapper on the left). Group songs produced by him are definitely more upbeat and with electro sounds while still showcasing the vocals of the members. And you might want to check out his solo work as well, he has two albums with songs BOOM and YA. Hyunsik (your bias hehe) has recently released a second album with a rock-ish sound and two MVs (upbeat and sentimental one) - La Mar and Sunshine. Definitely check it out! well.. I'm not surprised that you say that there were pitch correction and auto-tuned... cause the editor of the video did that as so much of their voice over-clashing each other's voice. So, Melody noticed that too... But, in real life, BTOB is very popular to always sing live as they have problem doing lip-synch...

From what all the professionals and vocal coaches say, Eunkwang (#3 and leader) has the best and impeccable vocal technique. My one recommendation for an upbeat song is "All Wolves But Me/Naviety." Many of the songs the members compose are hopeful, even with difficult themes. I also think you would enjoy their Kingdom Legendary War stages a lot, along with the BTOB-Ateez-Stray Kids vocal unit collab covering IU's "Love Poem." Eunkwang distributed the parts, worked with the harmonies and coached the youngsters into an incredible performance. Reading the lyrics first will make that experience even more wonderful.

HyunSik (4th from the lest) has basically been singing since he was in the womb. His father is a relatively successful korean folk/pop singer who was active in the 80s. Some of my older cousins definitely had his albums growing up. Both Hyunsik and Changsub (5th) studied practical music in college and currently Hyunsik is getting his masters in applied music. He actually produced/wrote most of the songs on this set list

The song you didnt like / called the song ) was a gift from Hyunsik to melody ( the fandom ) after all reunited when they ended the military service. And the lyrics are quite emotional. They have a subunit called btob4u , from when 2 were in the military and there were only 4. They went to a program called kingdom and you may like their song SHow and proove...very epic/movie vibe. Also they have a vocal subunit called btob-blue with the 4 vocalists. You can check how good vocally the 3rd guy ( leader Seo Eunkwang ) is, if you check his deliveries in the program inmortal songs 2 and masked singer. They all have solo stuff, and this year will get many comebacks.

personally i'm a fan of more upbeat and noise music type songs as well but btob had such good vocals and goofy personalities that i ended up stanning them. their harmonies are insane and any of them could easily be a main vocal in another group. the reason why they had so many ballads is literally because their group genre leans more towards ballads. they might have had a few more upbeat songs closer to their debut but that was a long time ago so they didn't include as many in this lineup
I do realize, that no matter how they sing live when it becomes video and shown on TV or UA-cam, there must be some fixing happening. except if it is from fan cam as in pure fan cam without editing, and that's what live sounds. www but again listening to live singing via video rather than truly watching them live like in concert is so different. And for BTOB they always sound better live than in video any video.
BtoB was not self written when they first debuted, but somewhere in the middle of their career Hyunsik (green hair), Minhyuk (rapper with the blue shirt), and Eunkwang (navy v neck sweater) started writing most of the groups music.

The other composer and producer was Ilhoon, the member who left in 2020. The rappers tend to write the more upbeat songs. The members joke that Eunkwang's songs never make it onto the albums.
Tks for reacting to BTOB This group is also known to be funny, loud and sometimes even crazy. They are in the industry for a long time and they stablished themselves with ballads, but their b-sides are in diverse genres. Their most recent full album was released on 2022. They have a few more upbeat songs. On 2023 they released their 12th mini album Wind and wish. You can also check The one you biased is Hyunsik and he recently released his 2nd solo album. He composes most of the song and the album was also self composed, I believe it may fit your taste. The album is called “ The young man and the deep sea”, the title track is called “ La mar”. Hyunsik loves the sea One last thing, BTOB are always better live, so if you check more of their music, try also to find the live performance.

#1. Minhyuk is actually a great singer. Because of the individual schedules, sometimes they have to go on tour with only 4 members, and I went to their concert with 4 members (#1, #3, #4, #6) in May, and #1 of course had to cover the 2 missing vocalists, and he killed it.

I’m a MyDay and thanks for the recommendation to react to DAY6! I find many similarities in these two groups in terms of versatile music composition and great vocals although DAY6 songs are more rock-ish though they have some rock ballads as well. Like BTOB, DAY6 is also well known for their ridiculous harmonies and that’s putting it mildly seeing as they are actually a band. BTOB is a great group, love most of their songs, Minhyuk stands out the most to me character-wise, love his immense talent! Love this reaction so much ❤

BTOB (Born To Beat) is a 12-yr old, self-composing & producing group, known as the ballad/vocal/harmony kings of kpop. They are usually compared to the 90's boy bands coz their songs and style are like those era. Eventhough famous for their heartfelt ballads, BTOB has a lot of good upbeat songs too..in fact their discography is so diverse & hard to categorize that BTOB is a genre in itself. Their music ranges from dance, pop, jazz, rock to ballad, R&B, funk and they're not afraid to try different things. They initially had 7 members but the main rapper had to leave the group in 2020 so they're just 6 now. All members can sing, rap, dance & play instruments well, they were trained to be a band, to be an acapella group & also trained as acrobats, haha. The 6th member forgot some of his rap lines coz that was a 2013 song..and he was doing the rap part of the member who left the group..so I gez he made that mistake. But it's also nice of dingo to not edit it out..made it more natural and human..coz BTOB is a group that never followed that "perfect" idol image. They're always doing what they want to..never cared how they looked..they show how they really are, farts, voice cracks and all..they've always been true and sincere in everything they do. You might be interested to know that Eunkwang (#3) recently played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, which makes sense considering his style. As for Hyunsik (#4), he's a very sentimental songwriter, but his solo work actually features a lot of rock ballads and even some pop rock.

Guy 1: If you saw him shirtless you would understand why he's so confident 😂 he's not only an incredibly talented vocalist but, unfairly, a ridiculously talented athlete.
2: can sing like a mother but he's super, suuuuuuper weird. Thus the scream. He's also the youngest and a total dork.
3: is the leader and arguably the most talented singer. He can belt like nobody's business but is completely holding back in this session since their mics are sensitive. Look for "eunkwang golden singer" and "eunkwang duet song festival" you will die a little.
4: is super talented and the smart, relatively normal one. Also does a lot of composing.
5 (my favorite): is probably the second most talented singer, definitely the most agile, and by far the strangest person you've ever laid eyes on. The dorkiest in a group of dorks. Also, if you heard someone go flat or break, it's probably Subbie (his name is Changsub); he's known for being ridiculously talented and also breaking a lot lol. 3 and 5 are classically trained and have been singing together since they were little.
6: is the sweetest man alive and yes, has some confidence issues on the stage. He was born in the USA and kpop fans can be cruel to foreigners. But in his element, such a badass.

Their early songs are actually more upbeat but they felt that those doesn't really match well with them at that time, so they tried a ballad song (It's Okay) which exploded and gained them a reputation as healing-idols. Since then, their title songs lean more towards ballad, and they became really well known for their vocals and beautiful ballad. They still have some upbeat title songs after that, such as 'Movie', but most of their other upbeat songs are in their B-side of their albums.
They are also known as Beagle-dol(Beagle-like idol) due to their funny and laid-back personality. They are very well respected in the industry for being really talented, as well as being polite but playful with their seniors and juniors.

These boys were trained to be a band group, acapella group, and acrobatic group. They can dance and will always sing live. Their songs are also really hard to cover because their songs have multiple layers of harmonies and powerful adlibs. All the rappers write their own lyrics for their parts in their songs since the early days until now.
I think because this is Killing Voice, they do choose songs that concentrate more on their vocals. The part that Peniel forgot in this Killing Voice is originally Ilhoon's part, so I think maybe that's why he is not that familiar with that rap.

Hyunsik has a Masters in Practical Music too. I think this isn't very well known among i-Melodies because whenever he mentions / refers to it, the translations for it doesn't seem to spread around the fandom.
I believe he started his Masters in 2019, and completed it in late 2022 / early 2023, after he finished his military stint.

No.5 Changsub had a one case where he sang such a high correct note. Everyone thought it was an electric guitar. But it actually was his voice!!! He actually had vocal cord injury and re mastered his singing skill and style
Fans noticed that there was some parts that sounded off a little. It was actually revealed that there was post-production audio issues since members voices kept flowing into the other members mics (so they say)

The exchange between Sungjae (number 2) and Eunkwang (number 3) at the end of I’ll Be Your Man, that you were wondering about: Sungjae was letting Eunkwang know that Eunkwang had spit on Sungjae when he had been singing that last part. And then they laughed about it.
It’s an interesting theory that The Song was included in this set list to give them a bit of vocal rest, but I think it was included because it was their first title track after all the members were finally discharged from the military, and it is also kind of a love song to the fans (BtoB fandom is called Melody) this makes it an important song to both the fans and the group because after many years all the members of BtoB (except Ilhoon who left the group due to a scandal, but that’s another story) are finally reunited with each other and Melody as represented by The Song. So it was included probably even more for sentimental reasons rather than practical.
Yes, Westlife! I'm pretty sure the whole world knows about them and yes, BTOB are often compared to them, as well as Boyz II Men and Backstreet Boys. BTOB's ballads are their biggest hits, but their discography is very diversed. I think their concerts are longer than 1,5 hours, I think it's more like 2,5h with some breaks and solo performances! They are also known for never ever lipsyncing, 100% live always, they call them "group you can trust in live performances"!
Whenever you point out a cool and creative composition it is always Hyunsik's composed songs! (The forth guy from left!). MissingYou, Only One For Me, Someday, I'll Be Your Man, Be Together. You also liked Higher, the first guy, Minhyuk's composed song AND It's Okay. The last song is called Finale Our Concert and third guy's epic moment was in Blue Moon (Minhyuk's composition).
Other than these, BTOB's discography is very diversed, you might like their eralier stuff and some newest up-beat songs, such as: Thriller, WOW and maybe Movie, Outsider, Finale Show And Prove, Come With Eerie, Anymore, Blowin' Up, Yes I am, LUV, Outro: Encore.

Before this, the second guy, Sungjae (unhinged is a perfect word to describe him, as you can see at 34:26) he was telling Eunkwang, the third guy and the leader of the group, that he saw his spit flying while he was singing earlier. LOL That's what they're laughing at. They are so unserious, all of them are absolute goofballs as individuals and especially together! They've talked many times about how thier managers and CEO tried to calm them down and remind them that they are "idols" and "should act a certain way", but they gave up early on. They've stayed the same since before debut, it's just how they are. The only thing they take seriously is their individual career in other parts of the entertainment buisness, such as acting, musical acting and hosting shows, and especially their music, other than that, NOTHING is serious for them! They're hilarious and they get along really well!
Btw, 2nd guy, Sungjae is a well known actor. 3rd guy, Eunwkang and fifth guy, Changsub are musical actors!
Peniel the last guy, struggles with low confidence and stress a lot. He has alopecia and lost 70% of his hair at one point. They think it's due to stress. He's not as trained as the other members in music, he doesn't have the same background and education in music, so he's learned a lot from them I assume as well as he possesses enough talent to hold his own. He has a very laid back personality and he's like the balance in the group. He also uses a lot of english in his lyrics so their songs are more approachable and easy to listen to for non-Korean speakers. Some of his parts here is from a former member's parts as well.

BTOB is such a fun group! I love watching their live performances because they don't take themselves too seriously. Their voices always sound amazing, but they also like to play around on stage and include ad-libs or funny moments. I don't know about BTOB but Stray Kids concert was a little over 3 hours. They take breaks and do comentary on occasion. Having said that the members of BTOB are more vocally involved in each song than Stray kidsbut Stray Kids do alot of dancing.
Also wanted to add ever since Kingdom Legendary War, BTOB and SKZ are very close. SKZ have mega respect for BTOB.

BtoB's (Born to Beat) fandom name is called Melody, cause “Every Beat Needs a Melody”. Originally there were 7 people in the group, but their rapper Ilhoon left in 2020. But being versatile, all members can rap and sing to “fill in the gaps” whenever it is his verse coming.
Changsub (orange collar guy), Hyunsik (white shirt & tie guy) and Eunkwang (dark blue sweater guy) studied Practical Music in college (Changsub and Hyunsik with a crazy acceptance rate of a cutthroat 3000:5 ratio at their year), and Changsub and Eunkwang are both musical theatre actors. Hyunsik and Minhyuk (far left rapper in blue shirt with the speaking voice) compose and write most of BTOB songs and Sungjae (second left wearing white shirt with blue lines) is a really popular actor who even received some awards for his acting. Peniel (grey sweater) is an American-Korean who has a bright voice and even brighter personality (whenever his lines pop up I cannot hold myself but smile and feel a bit happier).
All of them have solo albums or tracks in somewhat different music styles (Changsub (rock-ish style), Sungjae (more pop, but you should check his recent cover on Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things"), Eunkwang (ballads), Hyunsik (alternative rock), Minhyuk (tracks in his albums are the most versatile in genres) and Peniel (rap, dance).

#4 that you really liked is Lim Hyunsik. His solo music is definitely worth your time, especially his recent release La Mar. He (and Lee Changsub to his left) studied at one of SK's most prestigious music schools where he was taught by 2 of the members of Big Mama (one of the OG girl groups who also have a Killing Voice that is VERY worth checking out).
Hyunsik's father is also a folk musician and composer. They have occasionally performed together - both guitar and singing.

Hyunsik has a Masters in Practical Music too. I think this isn't very well known among i-Melodies because whenever he mentions / refers to it, the translationa for it doesn't seem to spread around the fandom.
I believe he started his Masters in 2019, and completed it in late 2022 / early 2023 I believe, after he finished his military stint.

I actually saw some producers talking about pitch corrections when producing a song and they said that normal pitch correction for a song is between 400 and 600 but with BTOB it is generally less than 100 per song. I was fascinated by that information. There was a couple songs where the producers said that there was less than 5 pitch corrections per member, which I feel is incredible.
Edit: actually, #2 & #5 are generally the 2 who are bothering each other but they are all a little unhinged and crazy so any of them are liable to be pestering one of the others.

#1, Lee Minhyuk, is actually a really good singer and producer too - he said somewhere that he raps because he likes it, not because he can't sing. He has two solo albums with very varied styles, a few collaborations etc.

Singer #3 is Seo Eunkwang, the leader of the group. He is insanely talented; you may want to check out his performance of The Man from Immortal Songs part 2, it really showcases his range and voice control!
As for #4, Im Huynsik, he just released a new solo album with self-composed songs that are completely in his own color and vibe - there are some upbeat songs in there you might really like!
#5, Lee Changsub is a musical actor as well as a singer - I think you can tell in the song This is Us towards the end when he sings 'Baby it's alright ~' It's like he kicks in another gear, I really love it.
#6 Peniel Shin, his raps are actually among the more impactful in my opinion. The lyrics he writes are frank, sometimes even blunt, which is very refreshing. Earlier in their career he was still learning Korean (He's from Chicago, US) which explains why his parts were few. In Wind and Wish, their latest comeback, he got the entire second verse and even sang! ^^
As someone who also loves rock and metal music, I've found that much of the appeal with BTOB in the beginning lies in the lyrics. Yes, their voices are great, but what really stands out to me is the way they speak to the listener and make you feel included. They are often called Healing idols, which you'll probably understand if you catch the lyrics to the song It's Okay, which you pointed out as being extra interesting.

I'd like to say something about Peniel, the guy number six.
I think his strength is on his lyrics. The rappers basically write the lyrics for their own part and Peniel lyric's are always beautiful. He writes his lyrics in English and Korean (he's a Korean-American) so it's easy to understand for the English parts. If you look up into his lyrics, you will realize that he's a poet.
And that time during Killing Voice filming (Wind and Wish era), Peniel suffered from back injury that's why he's kinda passive and not taking a lot parts. He's actually a cheerful and playful guy.
I recommend you to check the full version of Higher and Finale: Our Concert. Those songs are lit. Aside from the Killing Voice playlist, I'd like to recommend you to react Movie.

Eunkwang (the third guy) known as one of the best vocalist/singer. His talent is amazing. BTOB's fans (called Melody) know how good he is but still get surprise when he perform. The latest you can check his performance in Immortal Song "Rock Star". He also become a judge in Build Up (MNet).
Minhyuk, The first guy is main rapper but also can sing. In his solo album he do singing and raping. He also sing a lot in BTOB Sub Unit BTOB4U. His singing voice and rapping is totally different.
Changsub, The fifth guy indeed his voice is very soft and soothing but powerfull. He also has band vocal vibe in his voice. His vocal was little bit change since he got a vocal nodule before he go to the army. Now his tone is lower than before. He was a CEO of Chang-ggo (it's a music training center).
Hyunsik, The forth guy has the widest vocal range in BTOB. He can sing in low tone (deep voice) and jump into high note effortlessly. And I think his voice is the most stable in the group. His song in his solo album is different from BTOB. It's more band vibe. And he really self produce. He compossing, arranging, even for the instrument. In his new album he also involve in album design and MV.
Peniel, The sixth guy is Korean-American. He was born in Chicago. So he was english native speaker. Almost his rap lyrics in English. But now he wrote a lot in Korean too. On early debut his part is very little because his Korean wasn't good yet. But he improve so much. He has good voice actually.
Sungjae, The second guy is the maknae. His voice is baritone. I really like his voice. You can check his performance in King of Masked Singer. He was the first member of BTOB that appear in that show. It was in 2015. All member execpt Peniel, had appear in King of Masked Singer. Regarding the slip up of Guy #6 (Peniel)...yup, i laughed at it as well. 😂 But as a background...the part that he rapped in the third song was actually not his. The member who rapped that part originally (2012 song) sadly had to leave the group a couple of years back due to unfortunate circumstances. So we ought to cut him a bit of slack for forgetting some of the lyrics. Still....totally agree that it was funny as hell. 😅
Well.. the guy that you mentioned as a fairy-like is also known as the Introduction Fairy of BTOB... cause his voice is very emotionally drawing people into the song.

42:00 their concerts are usually around 2-2.5 hours long with brief breaks and solo performances.
Changsub (guy #5) did have vocal nodules in 2018, right before he did his military service. He picked up new vocal techniques in the military and developed his lower register (he had a much higher voice before). I remember him saying that there are some high notes he did before that he can't hit now.

Thank you for the reaction video! It's always interesting to hear what people's first impression of BTOB is, as I've known them for so long. Love how you described no.5's voice as a delicate flute like tone, that's how I think of him as well.
BTOB is known for their ballads and just generally slower more sentimental songs, so a lot of the songs picked for this Killing Voice video are ballads. I would say their discography is about 75% slow or mid tempo songs, they do have faster songs not featured here. The one with the fastest beat here (titled Higher) and the jazzy musical theatre song (Blue Moon) are written by rapper no 1. Some other ballads that you liked with the dramatic vibe (like Be Together or the Encore song at the end) are written by no 4.
lovely btob analysis! btob is very well known for their vocal line, and i think because of that their ballads are the most well known songs as well (esp. in korea), but they have so many bops!! so many hidden fun songs and they're also one of the craziest most funny group of people lol

My all time favorite boy bands of all time are WESTLIFE and BTOB
Their songs are meaningful and both groups vocals are top-tier. BTOB is like Westlife of the East, talent wise and both are very versatile. They can sing any genre
BTOB goofing around while performing is their natural thing, they were actually being more extra off stage
Peniel (#6) is more the mood-maker of the group. He was also born and raised in Chicago, so Korean isn't his native language. He could not speak any Korean at all when he joined the company. He ends up with less parts generally unless they're in English because of that. When they were more choreography-heavy in the beginning, he had a lot of dance highlights.
Edit: Also, as far as them being goofy, that's just them. They're always like that. They like to mess with each other for fun, but they're also very supportive. They would be so bored just standing there lmao
As someone who has been a casual fan of them for seven years now, no, they aren't playing it up for the camera. This is in fact calm for them. You are surprised how they have the vocal stamina to perform a 1-3hr concert, and I am to, because I have seem their pre performance videos were they are playing the "how long can I hold this note game", screaming, singing random songs, and running around like crazy people.

Based on what I noticed, you liked their b-sides more (they tend to be more upbeat or epic and really diverse!) - so you might enjoy listening to Brother Act and Be together albums. Also Higher which if I got it correctly was the most your style was produced by Minhyuk (the rapper on the left). Group songs produced by him are definitely more upbeat and with electro sounds while still showcasing the vocals of the members. And you might want to check out his solo work as well, he has two albums with songs BOOM and YA.
Hyunsik (your bias hehe) has recently released a second album with a rock-ish sound and two MVs (upbeat and sentimental one) - La Mar and Sunshine. Definitely check it out! The MV for La Mar is shot underwater withouth any CGI. And of course it's written and produced by him.

well.. I'm not surprised that you say that there were pitch correction and auto-tuned... cause the editor of the video did that as so much of their voice over-clashing each other's voice. So, Melody noticed that too... But, in real life, BTOB is very popular to always sing live as they have problem doing lip-synch...
This reaction was informative and balanced enough for me to save to my BTOB UA-cam playlist to rewatch. Thanks! From what all the professionals and vocal coaches say, Eunkwang (#3 and leader) has the best and impeccable vocal technique. My one recommendation for an upbeat song is "All Wolves But Me/Naviety." Many of the songs the members compose are hopeful, even with difficult themes. I also think you would enjoy their Kingdom Legendary War stages a lot, along with the BTOB-Ateez-Stray Kids vocal unit collab covering IU's "Love Poem." Eunkwang distributed the parts, worked with the harmonies and coached the youngsters into an incredible performance. Reading the lyrics first will make that experience even more wonderful.

HyunSik (4th from the lest) has basically been singing since he was in the womb. His father is a relatively successful korean folk/pop singer who was active in the 80s. Some of my older cousins definitely had his albums growing up. Both Hyunsik and Changsub (5th) studied practical music in college and currently Hyunsik is getting his masters in applied music. He actually produced/wrote most of the songs on this set list
I like more the guy number 2 sungjae unique voice, and guy number 6 Peniel poetic lmelodic singrap lines in every BTOB songs .

The song you didnt like / called the song ) was a gift from Hyunsik to melody ( the fandom ) after all reunited when they ended the military service. And the lyrics are quite emotional. They have a subunit called btob4u , from when 2 were in the military and there were only 4. They went to a program called kingdom and you may like their song SHow and proove...very epic/movie vibe. Also they have a vocal subunit called btob-blue with the 4 vocalists. You can check how good vocally the 3rd guy ( leader Seo Eunkwang ) is, if you check his deliveries in the program inmortal songs 2 and masked singer. They all have solo stuff, and this year will get many comebacks.

personally i'm a fan of more upbeat and noise music type songs as well but btob had such good vocals and goofy personalities that i ended up stanning them. their harmonies are insane and any of them could easily be a main vocal in another group. the reason why they had so many ballads is literally because their group genre leans more towards ballads. they might have had a few more upbeat songs closer to their debut but that was a long time ago so they didn't include as many in this lineup

BtoB was not self written when they first debuted, but somewhere in the middle of their career Hyunsik (green hair), Minhyuk (rapper with the blue shirt), and Eunkwang (navy v neck sweater) started writing most of the groups music.

@@brionyfakatou1620 oh that person must have been misinformed or was not clear about what they meant. Eunkwang's written some lyrics but no music (that gets picked to be in the group's albums) yet. If we're crediting lyrics, Peniel must be mentioned before Eunkwang 😁
The other composer and producer was Ilhoon, the member who left in 2020. The rappers tend to write the more upbeat songs. The members joke that Eunkwang's songs never make it onto the albums.

#1. Minhyuk is actually a great singer. Because of the individual schedules, sometimes they have to go on tour with only 4 members, and I went to their concert with 4 members (#1, #3, #4, #6) in May, and #1 of course had to cover the 2 missing vocalists, and he killed it.

I’m a MyDay and thanks for the recommendation to react to DAY6! I find many similarities in these two groups in terms of versatile music composition and great vocals although DAY6 songs are more rock-ish though they have some rock ballads as well. Like BTOB, DAY6 is also well known for their ridiculous harmonies and that’s putting it mildly seeing as they are actually a band. BTOB is a great group, love most of their songs, Minhyuk stands out the most to me character-wise, love his immense talent! Love this reaction so much ❤

Thank you so much for reacting to BTOB's Killing Voice..and for the good review you have for it. BTOB (Born To Beat) is a 12-yr old, self-composing & producing group, known as the ballad/vocal/harmony kings of kpop. They are usually compared to the 90's boy bands coz their songs and style are like those era. Eventhough famous for their heartfelt ballads, BTOB has a lot of good upbeat songs too..in fact their discography is so diverse & hard to categorize that BTOB is a genre in itself. Their music ranges from dance, pop, jazz, rock to ballad, R&B, funk and they're not afraid to try different things. They initially had 7 members but the main rapper had to leave the group in 2020 so they're just 6 now. All members can sing, rap, dance & play instruments well, they were trained to be a band, to be an acapella group & also trained as acrobats, haha. The 6th member forgot some of his rap lines coz that was a 2013 song..and he was doing the rap part of the member who left the group..so I gez he made that mistake. But it's also nice of dingo to not edit it out..made it more natural and human..coz BTOB is a group that never followed that "perfect" idol image. They're always doing what they want to..never cared how they looked..they show how they really are, farts, voice cracks and all..they've always been true and sincere in everything they do. They may not be famous globally but they are really BIG in SK and have everyone's admiration and respect when it comes to music and singing ability..plus..these guys are really crazy & funny and many love them coz of their great personalities. They treat each other like real brothers, being together even before debut made their bond this strong. Even if they left their former company of 11 yrs last yr and 2 members signed under different agencies, they promise to be together & make good music for a long time and just this February, established their own company (BTOB COMPANY). To briefly describe the members from left to right:

if you really know BTOB, the randomness and funny moments are all very normal. They're very chaotic and has always been known for being loud. 😂
and as far as standing out for the camera......at this point this far into their careers, they were always known as a beyond goofy boy group (search btob golden axe silver axe for just some bizarre entertainment no other boy groups would ever do) that really didn't try and fall for the normal pitfalls of kpop. They definitely DO NOT take themselves seriously whatsoever (case in point, early in their careers they had a concert where changsub's voice cracked.....most groups would be mortified. What did they do? Almost very concert he purposely makes his voice crack at the most inopportune moment just to try and get the other guys to break)

They used to train as acapella group, as a band, and acrobatic group and their early discography is really focused on pop-sound / funk music. They got the recognition though thru their ballad songs [BTOB Ballad trilogy - It's Okay, Remember That, Way Back Home (not in this video)]
They are loud and funny as hell so what you've seen here is just 0.07% of their "Beagle-ness"

You should definitely react to Ha Hyunwoo's killing voice. I think you'll like that if you prefer rock/metal or dark vibe.
Someone was definitely flat during those harmonies/ad-lib during "Pray" 😅 but I would ask u to listen to Minhyuk (rapper in blue shirt)'s solo stuff, he kinda sounds robotic-ish so idk if his parts were pitch-corrected, they would've fixed all flat notes, but there was a backing track.

You might be interested to know that Eunkwang (#3) recently played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, which makes sense considering his style. As for Hyunsik (#4), he's a very sentimental songwriter, but his solo work actually features a lot of rock ballads and even some pop rock.
