- This was a video suggested by several viewers and it certainly not disappoint. It's a totally new group for us, Mamamoo, with a compilation of songs on "Killing Voice".

(L>R) *Moonbyul* (30), *Solar* (32), *WheeIn* (28), *Hwasa* (28)
Mamamoo debuted in 2014, 2 years before Blackpink. Even though they each have their set positions, this is a group with with 4 singers, 4 rappers, 4 dancers. This is the ONLY group (as of now) who ALL the members have successful solo careers. Meaning, all 4 members have multiple solo albums apart from the multiple group albums. They add humor to many of their MVs, as you will see when you watch. Also, there's a group UA-cam channel but all 4 also have their individual channel.
*Some FYIs*
- *Moonbyul,* rapper, (Byul means Star = MoonStar) auditioned as a vocalist, she was told there were already 3 vocalists, she needed to learn to rap if she wanted to debut in the group. Now she is the most credited female rapper in Kpop and in her solos she still does show her vocals more.
- *Solar* did not like that men were praised for being shirtless on stage where women were criticized for their moves. So after a performance, she tore her shirt off (sports bra under) exposing her amazing abs.
- *WheeIn* is so talented, she's also a painter, her works are extraordinary
- *Hwasa* was told she was to dark, not pretty, didn't fit the Korean beauty standards. Her response was "if I don't fit their standards, I WILL MAKE MY OWN!"
- *Hwasa* & *WheeIn* have been friends since they were 13 in middle school.
There are guides on UA-cam to get to know groups better, suggest you watch. For example:
*The MAMAMOO Introduction Guide of 2022 (part 1: members) & (part 2: group) by MOO YT*
*Killing Voice* is a great series to get to preview groups, I suggest you watch more.
Absolutely fantastic comment. This is very helpful info. Thanks for taking time to tell us this! ❤
Yes! MOO YT guide is a good one
@@CoachCastTV ua-cam.com/video/SRz2FJVlWMI/v-deo.htmlsi=My4lzTzXpw5f2xqC
Agreed! Moo YT'S is the most up to date guide.
Also, their vocals are impeccable. Hwasa (the one in gray) was sick during this recording and still sounded amazing. Their concerts can last anywhere from 2-4 hours, and the vocals and energy NEVER waver.
I'd like to officially welcome you to the Radish Farm 😂
Side note: If you love Mamamoo's vocals and fun energy, May I suggest checking out Dreamcatcher? Also, incredible vocals, amazing rappers, and the music is different from ANY other K-pop group! "Bonvoyage" is their most recent song.
Moonbyul = Most Credited, meaning she writes her own raps.
Fun fact : the hand gestures are part of their dance BUT also sign language meaning “Starry Night” which is the name of the song. They did it for inclusion for their deaf fans. You won’t find a group more down to earth than Mamamoo❤
This is so awesome!
True, there are videos of Whee-in signing to a deaf fan. Pretty awesome.
I love to see people appreciating wheein’s voice in a first time reaction. Solar has those stand out power vocals, moonbyul has that cool deep tone rap, Hwasa has that sultry sound and look, but Wheein has an amazing honey voice and falsetto that speaks to my soul lol
Yes, agreed, she got Coach's attention immediately.
It isn't for nothing she is called the "Backbone of Mamamoo". Solan and Hwasa are always standing out but it is Wheein that makes all (most of) their songs sound good as a whole.
I recommend you to hear Wheein’s “Anymore “ live version
Mamamoo is often hailed as the "Vocal Queens" of Kpop, with each and every member being highly trained vocalist. They are also one of the very few female Kpop groups with a more mature and "womanly" stage persona. They are also known for their diversity when it comes to music genres. Check out "Egoistic" "Starry Night" and "Hip" and you ll know what i mean. Hope you guys enjoy more Mamamoo songs!
They are very impressive for sure!
mamamoo also did more retro style music earley part career..you guys might enjoy mamamoo "piano man" and mr ambiguous" @@CoachCastTV
Thank you for that info!
@@CoachCastTV as their company also uses a music distributor, I would suggest you look for MAMAMOO's MVs on their own YT official channels to get the subtitles (lyrics), as the distributor channels usually didn't have any lyrics uploaded, especially the older songs.
For now, here's the link to Piano Man and Mr Ambiguous. :D

Mamamoo debuted in 2014 and have been the vocal standard for Kpop girl groups ever since. When you said they seemed really fun and super talented, you described them perfectly. This group is a meme with legs, they are super witty and fun and they have never been afraid to show themselves as they really are in front of the cameras, to the point that they are famous for how crazy they are and how much fun they have wherever they go. In terms of talent, they are incredible, it is not shown here but the four of them can sing, rap and dance, in addition to the fact that the 4 of them are credited as composers, with Moonbyul, the rapper being the most accredited female idol of all time with 117 songs under her name. Mamamoo as a whole is the most credited girl group in Kpop with over 200 songs written and composed by the members and they are the only girl group in the top 10 of the overall list. As you can see, they have complete creative freedom over their music in all aspects from the writing and production of their music, choreography and clothing to the concepts of their videos and concerts. All its members play at least one instrument (almost all of them play more than one) and in the first years of their career they did their own choreography. It is also the group where all of its members have successful solo careers with several albums each one. To say that mamamoo is talented is an understatement. They also have fun and strong personalities, which makes them true to themselves. If they don't like something or don't want to do it, it won't be done. They are not the typical group that the company has over them and even the company has said, they are quite uncontrollable but very hardworking. I also have to say that the bond between the 4 of them is really strong and they treat each other like family, in fact two of them have been best friends since school before even wanting to be singers. For all these reasons Mamamoo is the group that I admire the most.
They are definitely a group we intend to feature more often on this channel. That was all we needed to see to know their music resonated with us both. Thanks for all this additional info about them. We can understand why you'd support them so much!
the vocal standard for kpop groups is snsd
I WISH they were the standard, unfortunately groups like mamamoo are rare

If you want to see them at a live performance their Immortal Songs Medley is a must.
Immortal Songs is a Korean show where singers, rappers and sometimes idols perform songs of korean legends and the best one of the episode gets a trophy. Mamamoo participated often in their early years. They were the first idol group to win a trophy and the first and only girl group to win multiple trophys (for a couple of years they were the only group to achieve that). They made a 11 minute medley out of their perfomances there and perfomed it at their concerts.
That sounds like fun. We'll keep that in mind for a future reaction. Thanks!

This!! Please.
@@CoachCastTV Oh yeah, Imortal Songs Medley is amazing. Also look up their cover of Delilah.
Welcome to our Vocal Queens. I love watching people come in and get blown away by these powerful women.
I do too! I just discovered Mamamoo over the summer and my obsession has led me to search for reactors discovering them too! I just subscribed to this channel and I cannot wait to see Coach and Mrs.Coach watching everything Mamamoo!☮💜
rapper won a tv competition where rappers that can sing..she dominated the show and won recently. moonbyul rapper
Excellent. We both really like her voice.
Dominated doesn't even start to cover it.
Moonbyul was doing so well they had to artificially make her lose a round just to make sure that it still looked like a competition and then they changed the rules for the last round and she still slayed.
Made me proud to be a moomoo
Agreed, it was so obvious for anyone watched that episode where they gave her zero points/votes..she killed that and truly slayed everything. But the network panicked as it would of been boring finale if everyone knew moonbyul already won by statistical points before even hitting the semi finals..@@PDVism
You have to watch her performances in that show i'm sure she will blow ur mind haha
Coach's face of shock every time Wheein sings is so hilarious lmao
All four of them are insanely talented which is why they are my favorite girl group. Some of their older songs are very underrated and i hope you'll react to them at some point. Piano Man, Ahh Oop, Paint Me and their advertisement songs (seriously, they're INSANE) like Woo Hoo and Gleam
I forgot, I recommend checking out BtoB Killing Voice as well, they're ab older group and basically the male equivalent to Mamamoo. All dorks who are super talented
😆 🤣
their older songs are my favorite by far.
Mamamoo = The vocal Queens!
One of the reasons why they got good vocals is because at the time they debuted, they were almost dissolved and since they didn't have the looks, the height, and the financial support/backing of the company (they were the first artists of their company, RBW) so they had to make up for something somehow. They focused on being better at singing, they also didn't have the funds back then to hire a choreographer so they had to make them themselves. It's funny how this group is one of the few KPOP artists who suck at lip-syncing because they were used to singing live every time. They almost always use handheld microphones instead of the lapel mics they use when they're dancing.
The fact that Hwasa was sick when they filmed this still amazes me. Deep talent!
Please! More Mamamoo!
Immortal song medley next!
Mamamoo is more than kpop idols! They are the queens!
We'll definitely be doing more Mamamoo!
If you want a fierce rapper, try to react to her ECLIPSE. You will see how fierce she can be. This killing voice is just the tip of the iceberge with their entire discography as a whole group and as a soloist. Hope youll enjoy MAMAMOO!
Thank you!
fun fact about the killing voice series of videos: before mamamoo, it didnt exist. the channel was known for their "killing verse" series which was a similar style of video but just featured rappers. one day solar contacted them about wanting mamamoo to be on the show but the producers didnt feel it was right to have them on a rap-centered series so instead they created killing voice to accommodate, not wanting to lose out on the opportunity to feature these vocal powerhouses. since then killing voice has become the gold standard in terms of highlighting kpops best vocals. (my recommendations/favs for killing voice performances: akmu, taeyeon, big mama, iu)
also, you mentioned how moonbyul can sing as well as rap. earlier this year she was on a show that took various kpop rappers and had them compete in a vocals/singing competition called "second world." byuli won.
Not a bit surprised she won a competition. She is unique and we both really liked her, as well as all the ladies.
Coach's favourite Wheein has the perfect blend between Solar's power and Hwasa's breathiness.
Yes, she does seem to cross over between both of them.
Wow! Some of those high notes and runs will bring you to tears!
MAMAMOO's live performances are always full of fun and amazing.
So glad to see you love Wheein's vocal. Wheein just made a comeback last month with her first full album-IN the mood. It's a no-skip album, containing 11 fantastic tracks. Check the MV of her title track , also named In The Mood, and the other tracks in this album. She will not disappoint you😊.
Cannot explain what it was about her voice, but she got Coach in this one. LOL
they recently just did their first world tour..did 9 states in us for first time..theyre reviews on ticket master for their first us tour were profoundly amazing, people were blown away as their live stages is another level exp.@@CoachCastTV
@@CoachCastTV There's a saying in MAMAMOO's Fandom "Once you Whee In, you cannot Whee out." 😆 Wheein's voice is really beautiful, addictive and easy listening. You can find more charms in her vocal while listening to her solo songs. 😀
LOL, that's fantastic! Coach is IN!
if you love wheein's voice..highly recommend her solo "easy" and "watercolor" @@CoachCastTV
This made you speechless. Big Mamma killing voice will blow you away.
Big Mama is definitely the best of this series. They are an older (early 2000s) vocal group
Yep. Big mama ❤
And BigMaMa is same lables with BlackPink.
"Mamamoo the true vocal queen" you must see this video
Mamamoo is the different side of Kpop. They raised my standards so high. The concert versions of these songs are even better.
Dinga was their end of pandemic song. That's why the rap is about lacking vitamin D, paying delivery fees, and having a fly on the wall as a best friend. It was about really wanting to go be with friends. (Also, it's worth checking every video for these songs.)
Dinga is a Pandemic summer song. Singing about everything they want to do but can't due to restrictions. The stuck at home, delivery fees are a waste of money, and my onlt friend is a fly comments on being quarantined. Here in Korea, delivery fees have skyrocketed since 2020 where most places delivered for free or around 75 cents. Now it's common to find delivery fees of up to $4. Though at least tipping isn't engrained in the culture here (yet). Whenever I'm vising family in the US, it shocks me how crazy tipping culture has gotten back there.
100% agree about the tipping culture.
In a group competition their biggest fans were the other girl groups on the show, they are highly respected by other girl groups. Moonbyul has been lauded for her attitude to younger artists. Moonbyul's rapping style is more lyrical than the staccato of other rappers which has made her stand out. Solar is just a powerhouse of vocals, she is also very careful with that power. Wheein is just smooth. Hwasa is a true queen, she straight out skips the expected norms and makes her own path. She's also very versatile in her styling. The song "I Miss You" was done as a performance on Queendom and has to be one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen.
All four of these ladies are.... crazy, but in a fun way. There is a lot of them just going full on why not. Solar is the eldest and instigator of a lot of mischief, Moonbyul is a straight up flirt and does so shamelessly. Wheein might be the shyest of them, but also pulls a lot of stuff that cracks everyone up. Hwasa is not shy, at all and is right there with Moonbyul on teasing.
I think the difference in Moonbyuls rap is that she has a naturally lower, deeper voice, so she can rap in a way that sounds strong without it being shouty or having to actually raise her voice. It lets her add so much more colour to her rapping because she can do it low but soft, low and aggressive and loud, and also has an incredible growl. Lisa and Jenny are fantastic, but while they are able to lower their pitches on recordings, its not a comfortable spot for their voices, so generally when they perform live, their pitch is higher than studio versions and therefore sounds less aggressive unless they shout.
I also really love that Mamamoo are all absolutely killing it as adult women. Lets face it, the media is kind of scared of adult women who behave like adult women, and in South Korea where being a mature adult woman in control of her body and sexuality is still not overly socially acceptable, it makes them even more unique.
We've still not heard another like Moonbyul...she's truly unique.
The choreography where they spread their fingers is part of the dance for that song (Starry Night) and is the sign for starry night to communicate with the deaf, at least in Korea. Wheein has been videoed communicating with deaf fans, and since they were doing their own choreography at the time, they put it in. The numbers for gogobebe, 9-6-6/19, the 9 and 6 are for the g and the b but also have a deeper meaning I can't remember. The 6/19 is their debut date back in 2014. I saw another comment that says 6/18 and that's what Wikipedia says but they claim 6/19. Their debut album was released on the 18th but their first performance in public was on the 19th. One of the first few videos on their You Tube channel is them in a studio with no supervision recording a cover song. For one of their most recent MVs, the behind-the-scenes video makes it apparent that Solar is directing the MV. Most K-pop groups are packaged products from the agency. They are handed a song, taught the choreography, given costumes, and told to look fierce or cute or sexy, or so on. With Mamamoo, the agency makes suggestions. It's been that way from the beginning.
Very impressive to hear they are behind the majority of this. And great for Wheein for her focus on deaf fans. That's awesome!
That's the difference between idol music and non-idols. Mamamoo aren't classified under the idol umbrella in Korea.
im so happy that you guys first recognized and really liked Wheein's voice because a lot of other reactors usually go to the other 3. it is true that she may not have sultry voice, deep rapping or displays power vocals here, but yes she can put you in a trance, you can say she has this beautiful smooth "honey" falsetto vocals. Even their CEO stated that Wheein is the backbone of Mamamoo. there's a lot of Mamamoo music content you guys could uncover and i am subscribing in case you guys do more. welcome to the mamamoo world!
Thank you. I can assure you that there will be more Mamamoo on the channel. They are too impressive to ignore. Glad to have you aboard.
Glad you did this. I knew a little Mamamoo and Hwasa, but I never dove into them too much or realized how talented they were! Wow!!!
They impressed the heck out of us.
They are incredible- unbelievable skill and range. I love ballads- where are we now &paint me are two of my favorites, along with I Miss You (live performance on Queendom is excellent as is the one they did with a band). Taller Than You is totally silly - just good fun, and anything on here is fabulous. Egotistic is very umm..provocative; you might even blush watching Solar pole dance! You can't go wrong with MMM, and watching their non-singing variety show performances and behind the scenes stuff gives you a view into their quirky, genuine sides and their incredible dynamic with each other.
The shock and enjoyment on both your faces even just in the first five minutes is a DELIGHT to watch. Experiencing Mamamoo for the first time!! I've probably watched 25 reactions to this over the time since the original came out, it's just so awesome to get to revisit how magical Mamamoo are.
They surprised us in the best way possible. We will definitely be doing more soon.
I swear... Mr Ambiguous is a perfect intro into how varied and talented their singing capabilities are but this whole segment takes you for a ride.
I saw them live, their voices were amazing and they still do choreo to their songs.
Yeah, all of the song snippets were great, and that opening was a nice one. We look forward to hearing more from them.
The Rapper's name is 'Moonbyul' and she also has solo songs out. Chek out 'Eclipse' and 'Absence' by moonbyul!
Thanks for that info! Her voice is unique and her raps are really good.
also rapper moonbyul/moonstar original debuted as a singer nor rapper@@CoachCastTV
Mamamoo toured the States earlier this year and were absolutely amazing live. Im so glad you two finally got to the vocal queens!
Mamamoo are vocals queens ❤
I have to say Blackpink was the group that got me to even check out kpop. Im an older guy (50). The frustrating thing for them is they always put out the same type of songs and they dont have a very big catalog, not to mention the length of time between releases is way too long. But its not their fault, its their company and i do still love them.
Mamamoo is my ultimate group. They have a massive catalog and you never know what type of genre they're going to hit next. From girl crush, reggaeton, latin etc.. their talent and vocals are unmatched. Live performances are amazing and usually better than the original song. They dont care about the Korean standards and often challenge them. If you do more reactions am i here for the ride.
You won't regret checking out more of their music.
(G)idle is my second favorite group. Much like mamamoo you never know what type of genre is going to come out of them. Thank you for checking out Mamamoo. Loved your reaction!
Thank you so much! We can assure you we will be doing a lot more of this group. They impressed the heck out of us.
I'm a 52 year old woman. My 23 year old daughter, and my 10 year old students (grade five) are all fans of kpop. My daughter told me that "the girls and the gays" are mamamoo's biggest fans internationally, because they're so open minded and inclusive and the empowerment/ style of their music (as well as their obvious incredible vocal prowess) I told her she needed to add "the grays" to the list. I think a lot of us who grew up in the seventies eighties and nineties deeply appreciate their whole discography because we're so familiar with all the styles and we've seen the best of the best in each genre- MMM slays every category, every time. And their personalities and bonds are so charming and down to earth. They are Queens.
@@SaraRyan-v7r Very well said! There's no age limit on great music.
BIG BANG got me into k-pop. I, too, am "older" @48. I have been OBESSESD with them for at least 10yrs. I don't understand a word, bit STILL ❤ it!
Having seen Mamamoo LIVE...Every single member is undeniably talented!
Watch EVERYTHING you can.
Probably one of my favorite reaction video for people reacting to Mamamoo killing voice! Genuinely captured all the points from each member. If you are impressed in here, try their "Immortal Songs medley" which are rearranged songs they sang for competition shows from their music industry legends.
For a chill vibe - live performance with a band - try mamamoo guesting to 'JYP party people', they cover 'Question mark' song and see a pure perfomance. ua-cam.com/video/AFJzSlKoWvE/v-deo.html
Thank you so much! We loved them, and we will be doing that immortal songs medley in the near future.
Yes the Rapper - Moonbyul has a very different style of rap compare to the main stream rap. Main stream rap usually appears fierce, aggressive (Cardi B, Nikki Manaj, Jennie, Lisa, etc) and that's why we usually see "rap battle", "rap dis". However, Moonbyul style are a lot more laidback, and chill and when she get aggressive it's more like "let's get high together" rather than "I wanna fight you".
Moonbyul is also the first rapper that I have ever seen can incoperate rap into ballads, jazz, retro, RnB, etc and makes it sound so good. If I have to describe her raps I would say it's very melodic and in character (kinda like in a musical). She is an amazing singer as well, her singing style is very emotional.
Moonbyul also hold the record as the most credited female artist (she wrote 115 songs) and the fasttest rapper (eventhough her raps usually focus on the melody and emotions more than speed) in the Kpop industry.
She's certainly different and we like her a lot, in fact, we like all of them a lot.
You've found the "Holy Grail" of Kpop...
I am of the same opinion that each and every single group is amizing in their own way, and the effort and time they invest in their own music is amazing and worthy of praise.....
But Mamamoo is just phenomenal... I sincerely think that vocal wise they're unmatched.
I really commend you to watch any of their live performance, cause it's just heaven....
They put on a performance and show like no other. Tina Turner, MJ, Madonna, level of performance...
It's art on itself. Extremely joyful to watch, they complement each other so well... it's just awesome.
They are truly special, no doubt about that.
Happy to see this reaction, Mamamoo is one of Kpop's treasures when it comes to pure vocal talent and likeability. They are the funniest group of close friends who are incredibly talented and respected by other idol groups. Kpop is loaded with many incredible groups as you will find out in time.
Hip is about fighting against the haters, Dinga is about being isolated due to covid.
Ohhh.. You should hear more of her raps. She's on another level. She can be fierce and fast when needed 🔥🔥
Hwa Sa, the lady on the far right, was very sick that day;
Whee In, "the lady with the jacket" is considered the Mamamoo's backbone because of her extreme capabilities of blending with the other singers and her creativity is wide, just like her dance skills;
Solar, the lady with the long hair, hasa powerful voice, even when she is not singing. She laughs loud, talk loud... She is loud 😂;
Moon Byul is the best rapper in kpop industry, in my opinion, because she raps but at the same time seems like she is singing... I don't know how to explain... They are the actual standards...
Thanks for this info. They were so impressive and we must see more of them soon. The way you describe the rapper is accurate, she didn't sound like traditional rappers we've heard.
@@CoachCastTV thank you for the answer! Also, Whee In just released a full album now, called In the Mood... It Is worth it...
Mamamoo is coming back for you 😊
Mamamoo is another very talented group. BlackPink is still my favorite, but Mamamoo; G-Idle; Itzy; Red Velvet are up there too. Why is BP my favorite? They were very influential in showcasing Kpop to the West. And in doing so opened the doors for all this talent. I have said before: Koreans are Master Entertainers (Music; dance; acting; movies; series; any screen production)
All of those groups get mentioned a lot, so we'll try to get to all of them. Thanks for watching.
Mamamoo is more than kpop.....
they will be always vocal queen in kpop history❤❤❤❤
Mamamoo's co-ceo and main producer had a vision. He wanted to form a kpop group who are talented and knows how to have fun on stage. They are trained like any standard kpop group and was given room to grow similarly to most boy groups, who are given or allowed some form of creative freedom(like writing/producing). Which is rarely seen in girlgroups. (G)-idle is an outlier in that aspect as it looks like Soyeon has complete creative control over her group.
RBW, Mamamoo's company are good at rounding up talents and putting them into groups. Vromance, Mamamoo's brother group is also composed of good vocalists, thought they never really went mainstream. Purple Kiss, OneUs and OneWe, I've heard are also groups filled with talented people. Though one of the groups with One in their name was scouted/signed as a group and was renamed.
I swear I've seen Snoop wear a sweater vest somewhere. Moonbyul, the rapper, was training as a vocalist before given the choice to switch to rap or drop out of the group a few months before debut. She is very laid back and her rap style reflects that so you won't really hear a lot of aggressive/fast raps from her apart from a few songs (Mr. Ambiguous, Moon Movie, Eclipse, maybe Aya, Lunatic, Girl Crush) but some of those I wouldn't consider aggressive. Her growls, if I remember correctly, are learned from Hwasa(girl in sweats) who actually trained in rap but only seldom rapped in the group. Which I'm particularly sad about cause she's good. And it would be fun to see more from them as their rap styles, much like their onstage persona, are black and white.
They surely are very impressive. We will have them on the channel more, no doubt.
they've got a pretty diverse discography(solo and group) so it's almost certain that you'll find something you'd personally enjoy.
Welcome to the rabbit hole!
I've watched their concerts twice and i gotta tell you they sing better live on stage than recording versiin...you can grasp how they really love to sing & perform and not doing it as a job. And they have great audience engagement that you gotta think that they're your friend next door. Mamamoo came 2 years before Black Pink & that makes them a 9-yo group, with 14 albums AND many solo albums to each member. Enjoy your journey with Mamamoo, it's a fantastic ride, i promise you
We look forward to it. Just filmed the Immortal Songs Medley that will post later this week.
People may have put them together…But they fought hard to stay together.
And we are all blessed because they did.
MAMA-MOO - you pronounced it correctly - debuted June 2014 is often considered the best 3rd gen vocal line girl group (same gen as my faves BLACKPINK whose members also have distinctive vocal tones), but many forget SPICA was also amazing but unsuccessful (cheeky mv YOU DON'T LOVE ME being their most well-known song). Their 3 best songs are female empowerment song YES I AM (my #2 song of 2017 after BP - AS IF ITS YOUR LAST)., DECALCOMANIE (which you heard here, the extended mv is crazy amusing with the fruit smushes), and YOU'RE THE BEST with Hwasa a fiery redhead in mv.
Yes, these girls can sing and they're from a medium sized company RBW which stands for Rainbow Bridge World (or as their juniors PURPLE KISS often joke 'really bad wi-fi').
Yes, PURPLE KISS are sorta their label's BABYMONSTER to older MAMAMOO, the younger group debuting after successful senior group, like BM debuting 7+ years after BP.
PURPLE KISS 6 members are ages 20 to 24 (former 7th member JiEun is now 26, she left for health & anxiety reasons in 2022 after 4 mini albums) so they're older thsn BM.
I know I've been promoting my #2 group PURPLE KISS in a lot of comments, but now after you hearing the older group at their company - known for great vocals - now maybe you can see why (and also because 2 members of PURPLE KISS were trainees previously at BLACKPINK company YG - Chaein has some of that YG swag and is my #2 fave vocalist after BLACKPINK Rosé).
5 years ago PK maknae and main vocalist Swan (then 15 now age 20) even recorded the vocal guide track for Mamamoo song Wind Flower years before PK debuted. PK have also appeared on tv shows with Mamamoo rapper Moonbyul (Weekly Idol ep 560 and as guest on her radio show) and KBS WORLD TV SHOW Boss in the Mirror showed Mamamoo leader Solar giving them advice during trainee evaluations before debut.
I just didn't want to send you down the 9 years rabbit hole of MAMAMOO discography before you saw PURPLE KISS who had their first predebut song MHSAB about 3 years ago. MAMAMOO was once my #3 group now probably #6 (and have gone more to solo with much less group music past 2 years since Hwasa & Wheein left the label). I just like PURPLE KISS b-sides more than Mamamoo's.
Where to start with PURPLE KISS:
I'd suggest maybe starting with their witchy debut mv PONZOÑA (paired with 90 second Intro: CROWN), haunted hotel mv for 2023 song SWEET JUICE (paired with short Intro: SAVE ME) is more toeards R&B like their 2nd predebut mv CAN WE TALK AGAIN.
The 5 title tracks from their mini albums each had a spooky short Intro track (Freaky Purky the Intro for ZOMBIE was later expanded into the great b-side PRETTY PSYCHO with a spooky performance video). MEMEM had Intro ILLUSION and NERDY mv where the witches take over a tv station fighting for outsiders without a voice had Intro BYE BYE BULLY. For something a bit silly there's the mv for their catchy song ZOMBIE (I mentioned in a comment previously there's a very different remix of it with darker vibe in Halloween performance video).
Here's 3 from the many vocal covers where PURPLE KISS showed off their vocals:
PURPLE KISS are also known sometimes having a bit too much fun on radio shows being goofy while other members are singing (like AUTOPILOT performance on MBC Idol Radio).
Here's them being more serious showing off their vocals while making a male soloist Kpop cover song their own and dancing:

Thanks for this info. We will definitely try to get to them.
I 100% second the Purple Kiss recommendation! They are younger, but incredibly talented. Besides having amazing vocals rap and choreo they also write/compose/choreograph a lot of their own songs.
They truly live up to the title of Mamamoo's little sisters 🥰
@@exessen1684 Very interesting. Thanks for that info! We will try to get to them. Just so much out there! LOL
@@CoachCastTV No pressure at all ^^ there are a lot of great groups out there
love the wheein appreciation! maybe im just not deep enough into the fandom but i feel like she gets overlooked a lot
They're all fantastic, but she had that special something that stood out to Coach.
Mamamoo is always live. They rarely lip sync because whenever they do they fail miserably. They just can not lip sync so if there's a technical issue and they can not sing live, they would admit it right away and just give up on lip sync. They also sing their harmonies and adlibs live which - as you can see in this video - cause a hard time for the cameramen. The cameramens usually don't know who to zoom in because they are not used to the fact that there are more than one singer sing at the same time so they frequently missed filming the adlibs and harmonies of Mamamoo
WHEEIN is the lady in dress suit 😌 her full length album IN THE MOOD just got released last month. You should listen and try to react to it. It's very worth it 💯💖
Btw, Mamamoo discography is freakin and awesomely great 💯🔥
Hope you will react again to them. OT4 is real in Mamamoo 💚 Thank you for this 🤟
We absolutely will be reacting more to this group. Thanks for watching!
coach... mamamoo "where are we now" is epic ballad masterpiece that really showcase their vocals styles tones and harmonies..mv is epic beautiful..pls react to it
Thank you for the suggestion. We'll keep it in mind.
please react to this new video made (dropped yesterday)" why MAMAMOO is the most underrated kpop group" BY nahiseokie . Its most professional high quality, edited mamamoo video made since ive watched everything made mamamoo for 7 years... its 27 minutes and everything is so well researched, clips and netflix level quality. This fan made production made wavve mamamoo documentary to shame in the details and encompassing put together mamamoo. WOW. Please react to it as I know u love mamamoo. This give you such amazing overall understanding of mamamoo.
The good thing about Mamamoo is that they slay every style. Each album is different styles and you can see their vocal/rap skills are revolving. I don't wanna compare them to other k-pop groups, cuz they are beyond k-pop, they're literally artists. And to Mr. Coach question, Moonbyul the rapper she wrote most of her rap lyrics, highly recommend the song "4X4ever" (that's a different style of rap she performs in there)
I love the synchronized head tilt/double take you both do at 2:48 , it's such a genuine reaction to hearing their voices for the first time. I love seeing different folks on youtube have that same gut reaction to them in different songs
Wheein, the lady with the black blazer dress is known for her special effect voice without special effect.
28:08 I'm glad you like Wheein's voice too! You are right, her voice is not being "powerful belting" like Solar's or sultry like Hwasa's. Her voice is difficult to describe especially for new listener, but moomoo (the fandom) calls Wheein's voice is "honey-like": it's soft, soothing, sweet, and feels like a hug to your soul. You hear her part in I Miss You (19:35) oohhh! Shiver! That's the kind of her voice.
Very good description of her voice.
They are STUNNING!! BEST OF THE BEST!!!
I love watching vocal coaches reacting blindly to Mamamoo because it's alway the same comment: "they can sing".
Btw, Hwasa, the lady in the right hand side was sick for that session and she still nailed every part of it.
Impressive!
MAMAMOO is often describe as 4 solo artists who just comes together annually to do an album. THE VOCAL QUEENS OF KPOP and nobody could ever argue against that. Also all the members have solo albums which all debuted #1 on the worldwide iTunes Album Chart. The number that they sang was the date when they debuted.
Mamamoo is only 2 years older than Blackpink but their target audience from the very start is adults so yes they are a lot more mature and does't seem like teeny Kpop type of group. (Some of their audiences are not even Kpop fans because they release jazz, ballad songs as well).
Mamamoo is famous for their vocal (and their signature is adding adlibs & harmonies to their songs) to the point other idols use them as a term for adlibs or harmonies. There were instants people said things like "That harmony was so good I thought Mamamoo was here." or "Oh that was Mamamoo kind of vocal right there!" as a compliment on TV shows.
It's understandable why they are so respected. They are truly impressive.
Mamamoos Vocals are untouched if it comes Group.
If i start talking about Solo Singers i cant shut up cuz there are so many many good vocalists.
IU, Ailee, Sohyang(the best of the best) and many more.
Big Mama Killing voice !!!!!! Nearly every song is of the caliber of I Miss You on this one.
Mamamoo is benchmarked to Bigmama.
I think its worth noting how much theyre involved with all the behind the scenes writing, producing etc
The rapper id the most credited female songwriter in K-pop
To anwers your question about the numbern in "GOGOBEBE"
9/6 is just a reference to office hours (since the song is all about "leave your suit and tie, it's party time") and June 19 is their debut date.
For some reason I didn't know either. Thanks for making me eduacte myself on MAMAMOO🤣
Good info. 👍
i highly recommend mamamoo immortal songs meddley live meddley cover old songs and its live ..shows stage presence and power vocals
Fun fact about Dingga: The song was released in the summer of 2020 to celebrate the end of a lot of COVID lockdowns.
You're so kind and respectful, i just discovered you two. And really love your reactions, really good to watch ❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Mr and Mrs. Coach: I would have suggested Mamamoo to you at a later date. Why? You kind of have to get a feel of the K-Pop Industry before getting to them. There is almost nobody that can beat them when it comes to Vocals. Mamamoo is a Group that you work your way toward, as your K-Pop journey goes. Not to start off with. These Ladies are some of the World's best Singers/Songwriters. Period. The Group's name comes from what a baby's 1st words might be. What you just witnessed is a "Greatest hits" package. And yes, please check each of their MV's for these.
Thanks! We were just following along the suggestion of quite a few viewers, although we understand your reasoning. In any case, they wowed us, for sure.
@@CoachCastTV it's rather hard to imagine 3 voices as powerful as Adele's and a Female version of Eminem. Enjoy the Journey. I Miss You was a song for their Fans (MooMoos). Hopefully you will be able to react to it and not get blocked by YT. RBW is their Company (The two youngest have left but still remain as a Group) So when searching pls add Eng Sub. Some of their songs have not been subtitled.
@@parkdaler01 That's great info, thank you!
Mamamoo is Always number one group for me 🤍
BP had the advantage of coming from a big company which meant they were famous before they even ever got on a stage.
Mamamoo was the first group of the RBW that made them. Their only advantage was that their CEO is a music producer (who made songs not just for Mamamoo but for lots of other groups as well). Mamamoo at the beginning did their own make-up, choreo etc.
At their first stage they had 3 people in the audience, a sister and a couple of friends.
Now years later, they filled Madison Square Garden.
The RBW building was financed by their profit.
All members have been and are involved in writing music, lyrics, staging etc.
They can all sing. Wheein, Solar and Hwasa are always considered some of the better voices in Kpop. The rapper isn't bad either but not in the same league singing wise. However she has a wonderful color to her singing voice. And a little detail, the rapper writes all her own raps.
Their is real chemistry between the members (not just acting like it) and everyone of them are vocal independent women that don't take sh*t as well as aren't afraid to show themselves without make-up, in lounge wear, being a real person and not some glam idol babe.
There fanbase is 90-95% women.
They always, even at debut, had a mature feel to them instead of the cutesy teenbopper style lots of groups go for.
Killing voice used to be for rappers only. I heard that it was because of Solar asking them that they did killing voice for singers. So Mamamoo was the first group doing it.
By the way, if you don't know yet, let me blow your mind. 'I miss you' is a B side from early in their career. 🙂
If you listen to that song and don't feel something, aren't impressed, their is something wrong with you.
"I Miss You" was simply incredible and we know we didn't even hear the full version. Their story is so incredible. Thanks for the great comment.
Dingga : drink like a fish and eating ice cream was meant as a comfort song released in 2020 during covid lockdowns
Yeah it's pretty much a consensus by the entire industry that you do not mess with Mamamoo's vocals...they are KNOWN for it 😂
Other idols have stated how hard it is to do covers of Mamamoo's songs...you can see why
Their CEO was so confident in their abilities that he put them on singing competitions against longtime famous Korean singers not long after their debut (2014) in a move to prove that kpop idols can have amazing vocal prowess. Mamamoo is the reason why their company (RBW) is so successful today, and the reason they are able to produce/house so many new groups (Oneus, Onewe, PurpleKiss, OhMyGirl, Kara, KARD, B1A4, and Chaeyeon). Besides the several accolades and awards they've won over the years, they've also made recent history in the U.S being the Best-Selling Debut US Tour for K-pop Girl Groups.
Impressive...we are excited to hear more from them.
I hadn't checked out Mamamoo yet, but this just might force me to. A lot of those songs were really good and they sure can sing. Your reactions are awesome as always.
The Killing Voice is basically a show where artist showcase a bunch of snippets from their songs. It's a good show for getting a feel for new artists. If you want good singers I would recommend Taeyeon (she is in the group Girls Generation, but her solo stuff is awesome). Her episode is really good, although possibly she is more in Mrs. Coach's wheelhouse.
This definitely made us want to hear more, along with the full versions of these as well. Their talent is off the charts. Thanks for the additional info, and the kind words.
Mamamoo were the first ones on killing voice. Solar wanted to be on killing verse (killing voice for rappers) because she loved the concept of it but dingo said no multiple times because it was for rappers only. So when they made killing voice they had Mamamoo as the first video and Solar got what she wanted.
youll love their mvs too as their really well made visual and music composition.@@CoachCastTV
Mamamoo immortal songs medley and Mamamoo's hit songs live collection are a must watch!
Came for the Casting, stayed and thoroughly enjoyed my into to Mamamoo.
I've heard of them, but with life and so much music out there, I'd never gotten around. Mesmerizing and playful. What a blast!
Totally worth the time investment! Such an amazing group.
Love your reaction.
If you want say "huh" much more.
React their live performances.
Mamamoo immortal songs medley, it's not their songs it's a cover songs medley. They perform it on their concerts.
They known as brilliant but silly crackheads type Girl group.
Mamamoo did so many genres ( jazz, funk, swing, chill house,, RnB, pop, ballad, latin reggaeton, etc ). They're so versatile. Cool, fierce, badass, and funny all of them. 😂
Moonbyul is great at flow, she can spit fast fierce rap or melodic rap cause she writes all her own rap verse.
Wish you react more mamamoo.
Ask us what genre or styles you want to check first 😁
Thanks so much! We have been reading the comments and it seems that Immortal Songs Medley gets mentioned a lot. Perhaps that will be one of the next from them on the channel.
@@CoachCastTV If you interest with their funny crackhead too. You can check, 1cm/taller than you. It's about them dissing each other height 😁
Thanks for your kindness Mr. And Mrs. Coach.
Wish you have fun with mamamoo.
@@GiggleFox 😅Sounds fun! Thanks, we have a feeling we're going to get very attached to this group!
That SHOCKED look never gets old.
The name 'Byul' translates to 'Star' in English so 'MoonStar' is actually a nickname of hers. Moon Byul-yi is the rapper's actual birth name (Moon is her family name). For her stage name, her family name is slammed together with her personal name. Some people do that, not everybody.
'Solar' is a stage name that is made up, it's a hybrid with some meaning to it and partially her actual personal name, Kim Yong-sun.
Mamamoo debuted in 2014. The oldest member and Leader, Solar, was 'older' than most upon debut and she caught all kinds of crap for it. Remember the thing about the so-called 'Korean Beauty Standard' that really is not a standard at all? Age also plays a part in that stupid thing. Nobody wanted Solar around because she was 'too old to train'. She almost gave up auditioning. She went that one last time and would have quit and gone to find a different line of work if she had not been accepted by RBW, which was basically a TINY start-up company back then.
It is THIS GROUP of ladies who quite literally worked their asses off, they even did busking multiple times per day for years on end, in order to get that company off the ground. They carried RBW on their backs and it is now a successful company witch also has other groups under it these days, solely because of these four ladies. Nobody in K-Pop could have worked any harder than Mamamoo has.
Both MoonByul and Hwasa were called fat and were rejected many times at different places just for that (but especially Hwasa because she also has darker skin tone than many other successful idols and soloists). Obviously they are slim now but NO CHILD EVER DESERVES to be called names by any adult. The stupid KBS...man...
Their story is amazing. It's easy to cheer for people who have such determination and drive to pursue their dreams. And agreed about the KBS...
@@CoachCastTV Yup. Koreans think Hwasa especially does not fit the KBS (as one video says it, 'Thicc, Tanned and proud of it') and she catches more hate than any other member (even being the youngest member does not protect her from all of that). It's WEIRD to me because over here, she actually would be called an 'Exotic Beauty', like what you mentioned.
All of them are at the very least pretty to me. Moonbyul would rather be called 'handsome' and there is a long story for that. Koreans see her as 'androgynous' (and she herself does, too).
Wheein is 'the cute one' and she is the closest to fitting the KBS, but she HATES being called cute. lol But then you have to see all their MVs and Live Stages, she really is adorable in every one of them. Wheein is the best all-around vocalist in Mamamoo, she can do EVERYTHING including rap when she feels like it. She also picks up choreography even faster than Moonbyul. Wheein is just THE FRIGGIN' GENIUS of all sorts of entertainment, MADE of ART, born for the entertainment industry. She paints, she draws (including designing some of her own tattoos, and she has several now), she can take photos really well, she actually has a GREAT memory...
@@jamescurfman3284 We're so impressed with them all individually and as a group collectively. Coach was drawn to Wheein, but could not pick a bias at this point, if ever.
@@CoachCastTV Yeah...OT4 has to be a default here for me. It really would not feel right telling three ladies that one is better than the rest...that kind of thing can cause problems within the group. I try never to play favorites (although I actually do have favorites). But with MMM, totally OT4 for many different reasons, I luv all of them as equally as possible. :)
if you do want to watch more MAMAMOO then i suggest going back to the beginning, they released 2 MVs pre-debut, DON'T BE HAPPY and PEPPERMINT CHOCOLATE then released debut song MR AMBIGUOUS. Enjoy the journey. OT4.
Thank you!
Wheein my bias ❤ I love Mamamoo 😊❤
I had the pleasure of seeing them in LA this year. They are amazing. I believe Hwasa, the sultry one on the far right, had a cold during this performance. ❤❤❤
Something cool to know about the rapper, Moonbyul, is that she writes every single one of her own raps and is the most credited female artist in South Korea! There are certainly instances where she is more "fierce", I'd especially recommend her song "Eclipse" which she released as a solo artist. All of Mamamoo have successful and wildly diverse bodies of work as soloists, it's definitely worth checking out if y'all are interested!
We are definitely excited about learning more about this amazing group.
Mamamoo where actually put together as artists and not just idols. They were actually the first group from their company RBW. Can y'all believe these women were told that they weren't pretty or tall like models and that their road to success would depend on vocals and performance?
Moonbyul, rapper is the most credited female in kpop. Her rap is my favorite. I love her deeper voice. She dosen't change her voice or how she carries herself when on stage. What you see off stage you see onstage.
It's hard to believe someone told them that. They are incredible and we enjoyed this very much!
@@CoachCastTV I know, right. By the way, Dinnga is actually about the pandemic when we were all stuck at home. We lacked vitamin d since we weren't going outside, we spent a lot on delivery fees, we were isolated and the fly was our only friend, and we just wanted to drive around with friends, drink and eat ice cream.
@@Ming3484 That's great! We were all bored, for sure. 😂
The choreography for
"Starry Night" incorporates
sign languages. 😆♥
Awesome!
The numbers "nine six six nineteen" In Korea the standard work day is 9 to 6 instead of US's 9 to 5 and they debuted June nineteenth in 2014. So the numbers are when they went to work. You may want to watch a guide to find out more about the members. They are all wonderful as people as well as vocalists. The Purple Hawk one is my favorite but the Moo-YT one is more up to date. They are both good.
The version of I Miss You that you want is the Qeendom performance (there is usually no blocking problem with the Queendom one performances). I would very much recommend their Immortal Songs Medley. This performance that was part of their 2017 concert, and is their ultimate vocal flex. Immortal songs is a competition show where the contestants cover songs by famous Korean singers. Mamamoo has performed 14 times and were the first girl group to win and the first idol group to win 3 times. The medley is put together from half a dozen of those performances.
The rapper Moonbyul/Moonstar is THE ONLY female out of 24 K-Pop idols with the most songs copyright registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association because she makes her own rap verses. Hereon, I suggest you watch all Killing Voice performances and you'll be blown.
this group is part of the kpop genre which is mostly about a balance of visuals, dancing, and singing but not one in particular
we have other genres in korea, like ballads, which focus more on pure vocals and are usually unrivalled in singing skills 😊
Woooah, i literally watch 30mins of this video no skip no pause. You guys are pointing things so well even at the first encounter to them. such a good and honest reactor, thats 100% a subs right there ❤
We are happy to have you on board! We love this group and will definitely be doing more. And there is a Mamamoo playlist on the channel.
@@CoachCastTV Great! I'll make sure to watch your videos later :)
Each of the girls have solo songs too. From Moonbuyl (rapper) i'd recommend Eclipse, Lunatic, and Shutdown (3 different styles from her), From Solar (long hair) I'd recommend Honey, and Spit it out, From Wheein I'd recommend Easy, and Make Me happy, and from Hwasa, i'd recommend Twit, Maria, LMM. They all have many more amazing songs, Hwasa and Wheein just came out with some new ones too. I Miss you makes me cry every time, and Wheein is my Bias =). hope you enjoy your journey with Mamamoo!
They are impressive and we hope to film more reactions to them very soon.
Im so happy this was recommended to me. I love watching ppl get introduced to Mamamoo via Killing Voice. I cant wait to see more possible reactions

Thanks! Another one later this week.
Thank you for checking out Mamamoo. Loved your reaction😁💚💚
Thank you! We will definitely be doing more from them. We loved them!
Welcome to mamamoo worlds... 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Just wanted to give Mrs. Coach credit- she hit the nail on the head in speaking multiple times about how well they mesh together, including the rap parts. Getting 4 people to sing 4 different notes in harmony is one thing, but getting 4 people with unique qualities to their voices to blend together into one sound is much more challenging and takes countless hours of practice. There are videos of Mamamoo singing a capella out there (also good reaction material), and their blend sounds like one voice instead of four. I've listened to too much Mamamoo, and there are still some harmonies (live) where the blend is so uniform I can't pick out any of their voices separately.
If you can make it around any potential DMCA takedown, basically any performance from Mamamoo on Immortal Songs is a great bet to watch. I'd definitely recommend "The Way to Sampo", "Backwoods", "Delilah".
I coached a bit of T-ball one summer, so I ain't no coach, but "This is a song for Coach, because they said let's go get ice cream and drink like a fish." hit real close to home for me. ROFL
😆 🤣 😂
I’ve never been into K-pop since all the talent seemed to be forced by what could sell well, so when I discovered these women I was blown away. They can truly do it all.
I like bts for the amount of work they put in, being nearly self-made and for how they paved the way. But I’m not a fan of their live voices (I’m talking about the vocal like, jungkook excluded).
I like stray kids because, like bts, they produce their own music and their genre really appeals to my musical taste.
And I love mamamoo because of all the aforementioned reasons. As I said, they can truly do it all.
Ps: if you enjoy powerful and great vocals you can, in your spare time, check out Ailee, IU, and Big Mama’s samples on killing voices as well. Once you find good talent, no matter the genre, it’s easy to get sucked in! Loads of great music all around the world!
❤ ❤❤ mamamoo is really immortal
MAMAMOO is one of the most popular groups in south korea, they aren't underrated. Maybe globally, but in their home turf, they are huge. Even as solo members they get #1 on charts
Dingga is quarantine song. It was release during covid strict rules and its about want to meet friends and have fun
A-list girl group big as them will have solo projects for each of them. Just like how each member of blackpink has their solo careers. They didn’t resign the contract where mamamoo was created so they are in different agencies now but the group is still not disbanded which is really rare. You won’t get much mamamoo songs as much as before since a lot of them is focusing more on their solo career but from time to time you get a mamamoo song😂
Good to know. Certainly each are talented enough to have a solo career. But as a group they really shine.
Left to right: Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein, and Hwasa. Debuted in 2014 before Blackpink. Influenced by 2NE1 who were Blackpink's prediecessor. Both groups can hold your attention just by singing.
