DIY kayak keel guard protection with gorilla tape EASY & CHEAP!

This is a diy kayak keel guard protection gorilla tape EASY & CHEAP method that anyone can do to there kayak. It may not be the strongest or best method but it will help protect your kayaks bottom and is very easy to re apply and replace when needed.

I do the same thing to my kayaks and it definitely helps protect the keel. It doesn't last forever but it's simple to replace and cheap.

Thanks, I put 2 coats on the spots I knew hit more.. I even put some more on after the video.. it's easy to put on so if it gets messed up after a few times you can just put some more on.

i have a 16ft composite sea kayak which is fun to do the 1st strip at that length.. it is surprising how much it takes the brunt of any scrapes when lauching and landing..
i did this sometime before your vid 😉 and it is good to come across the fact someone else had the same idea and good you have done a vid..

Thanks, it works great I did another layer on top of the sections I found got scuffed up most and it worked awesome and if it gets bad I peel off one layer and just ad a new one. 👍

Keep in mind tape or any kind of substance that is adhesive style, is bad for water/fish/environment.
It’s best to just not do this at all and be careful where you take the kayak.
