Thanks. I was looking to see if high gain amps can punk/pop punk. I have a mooer brown sound 3 (evh 5153) and it sounds good in my fx return of my joyo zombie. I'm boosting with a precision drive. With an 8 and 9 string. Blackouts in the 8 emg 909s in the 9. Also have a neon pink solar guitar that I love.
xEvilASh I’ve never played the OR15 so I can’t really comment sadly. I know the Rocker 15 looks like a great option for a slightly lower gain/more defined sound. Check out Sonic Drive Studio as he may have a video on the OR15
Saul Martinez hey Saul, guess it depends on the stage. If you’re wanting to blast out to Woodstock, then no. But any venue of less than 1000 I would have thought your stage volume will be quite low and you would be able to get enough from the wedges. Loud cleans may be an issue live though.
Kai Sound thank you for the response! I play rhythm guitar in a pop punk band so I don’t ever really do cleans. The current amp I have doesn’t really push the gain I need for the sound. It falls just short of it
Kai Sound I have a Marshall Origin 50 and I’m boosting it. It almost gets to the sound I want but I have to dial the gain to 10 and hit the boost on the amp. So im at the point where getting a new Head works out considering my band’s sound
@@WitchxBrew So from what I understand the Origin is a classically voiced amp, so I think you will find a huge boost in sound for pop punk with a more modern amp like one of these lunchboxes. Thankfully lunchbox heads aren't too expensive! They all sound good in different ways!
Hey dude, so this EVH had real EMF issues and had to be returned for repairs. Past 4 on either gain or volume created massive screeching, an issue that no other amp in my setup has ever had. Hopefully they fix it because the only usable sound I could get out of it was those settings.
@@kaisound868 Kai Sound Ahh ok, yeah I have one and it opens up nicely say from around 11- 12 oclock, but of course its crazy loud, for you though you are using IR's and direct recording etc, good luck getting it fixed, great amp, I also have the MT15 also a killer amp for the money!
@@thehoppo Yeah I was gutted when i realised I couldn't turn it up properly, but I find with each amp I use, I don't like the power amp past 11 o'clock unless its on leads, just not a fan of power amp distortion it seems haha!
Just found this..what incredible tone man!
Prs MT15.... i have one and i love it.
I personally love the very first EVH LBX and the PRS/ especially the 6L6's...The EVH has to be cranked but sounds so good...
Awesome vid, just what i needed! Thanks!
Fantastic comparison. The MT-15 is a beast.
Awesome short video! Keep the good work! Love your tones and inputs on this!
Thanks Nick! I just wanted to play some pop punk not gonna lie haha!
Great job, mate!

I would say they absolutely can! Providing they have good definition without being harsh which, in my view is the same characteristic as a metal amp!
Nice vid!
Are you going to sell the Harley Benton BBB 2018 DLX.... I really want it 🙂🙃
Dexter it got sold about 10 months ago now! That’s why the RGD arrived haha!
Sad! Cause now I can't find one!
How does the OR15 compare to these amps? I’ve never played an Orange amp but I’ve been thinking about getting one. I mostly play pop/punk rock.

Quick question what model is your tele? Sounds great!
Kevin Mundarain thanks dude, it’s a 52 reissue American vintage. From 2005/6 I think!
Would you say you could gig with these amps with a 2x12 Orange Cab?

Saul Martinez have you tried a boost pedal in front of it? May not need a new amp. But that being said, the EVH and PRS have TONNES of gain.

Groupe Vip 360 hey, not sure I understand your question? Sorry!
@@kaisound868 sorry mac auto correction I meant tunning
@@Virteem360 so what Tunning are you using ?
if you could have cranked the evh volume more it would defizz it somewhat

@@kaisound868 yea most amps start to lose their definition past that level anyway
