Thanks Matt, and I appreciate all the content. I've learned a ton. You're helping a school full of kids in Dexter Michigan to be stronger, faster, and more durable athletes!
Training SSB box squats has been huge for my back squat. I feel like the energy leakage through my core has been massively reduced. I watched a ton of Wenning Strength Videos after having my L4 to S1 fused. First thing i did was bought a belt squat, 45 degree back extension, ghd and reverse hyper and leg curl machine to add to my gym. Closing in on 46 post lumbar fusion and my posterior chain is by far the strongest its been in my life. Abaolute game changer. Thank you for all the information you share. Still really looking forward to your book being released.
Watch to see if I have everything that you suggest. I have most of the tools you mentioned. The only thing I'm missing is a belt squat. But, pry could do a DIY.. Also, I have a few other items. I need a bigger garage...
Great list Dr. Wenning. For me I have learned from you, others, and now experience that the reverse hyper is a must. Should be in every gym and in every program
I have a nice home gym now and glad to say i check all the boxes, other than kettlebells. I started from strongman so the sandbags and free stones were a game changer in my strength journey and my first purchases. I remember saving up to get a rack and adjustable bench. Those were such a luxury
Louie Simmons got Joe Rogan to get a reverse hyper in his gym for the reasons Matt has mentioned. And there was no doubt in my mind that the belt squat would also be on the list. 💪👊
Intermediate level lifter here, I've got adjustable plate loaded DBs that can go up to 80, some fixed 100lb rubber hex DBs, 15 25 40 70lb KB and a loadable T handle kettlebell. Two racks, one with safeties, one with a lat pulldown cable setup, got a heavy duty dip station i can do belt squats on (not ideal but not the worst) and a GHR which i can set up in a kinda macguyver setup to do reverse hypers on and back extensions but i actually do want a proper reverse hyper and a proper 45 degree back extension for more overload on my back extensions... Still, pretty happy to know I have almost every one of your recommendations!
Thoughts on using Mark Bell’s Slingshot for bench pressing? I’m not implying for every bench workout, but do you feel it has a place in a garage gym? Thanks
Do you have a garage gym / minimal equipment training manual for beginners with a couple years experience? I have a power rack, adjustable bench, straight bar, adjustable dumbbells, kettlebells, 45 deg back extension and a trap bar. Also some bands. Many thanks
Patreon looks interesting, but the website membership does too. I’m not quite clear on the differences, will investigate👍 Is the GG manual good for programming over time or is it mainly for peaking?
Are back extensions on a ghd just as good as back extensions on a 45? If doing both, would the athlete get better stimulus than just doing one version?
The belt squat is the main reason i signed up at my gym when there are bigger and cheaper ones in the area
💯💯💯💯💯
I need a reverse hyper still...maybe next year.

Yep but they still are not -
I agree 100%. Reverse hyper, kettlebells, bands and chains are all big game changers when used properly and according. #joinarealgym

My goal is to get the Wenning Belt Squat for my home gym. I have used it and it is second to none. Other belt squats don’t even come close.

God damn that 45 degree back extension is so critical. Reverse hyper is also rare.

Any recommendations on a low footprint Belt Squat? I have a garage gym with very limited training space.
Yep my belt squat we can shave the ends down
👍
Bummer with our gym is they have a reverse hyper but it’s in a glassed wall trainers area that only acts as a laptop stand
Yep
no Nautilus Pullover!!
Hard to find
You've forget about - weight releasers i increase my bench from 235kg uo to 320kg RAW.
True!!!

Where can we get the bigger belt for the belt squat. Bigger guy with a little bit of a gut so the standard belts get a little short
Did you look at Spud Inc? They are the belt squat accessory specialists.
We sell them www.Wenningstrength.com
The gym i go to got rid of your belt squat, so stupid.
Hahaha. Buddy the whole gym culture is fucked right now
