Congratulations on a terrific trip Chris! Thanks for bringing us all along as you discovered one fantastic bird after another in fascinating Okinawa. Promise us that you will NEVER lose your genuine effervescent enthusiasm at experiencing birds! It’s infectious! Thanks for yet another heartwarming, highly enjoyable video.
Chris. I loved every single second of this video. So many stunning birds! You got so many lifers!!! I loved your enthusiasm when you saw the owl. What an awesome trip you had.
Dusky Thrush is one I keep looking for among Robin flocks here in California. It has gotten as close as Oregon. Great video. Definitely digging all the cool East Asian birds.
Dusky Thrush sure would be an amazing find here! There can't be very many records in the US. If you find one, call me immediately!! Thanks for checking out the channel!
@@BirdingwithChris two records for Vancouver and one each for Oregon and Washington. California is due for that one. We just got Song Thrush in November and that only had one previous West Coast records in Washington state.
Haha thanks! Rails are a pain in most areas in the United States. I have noticed that the rails in the other continents of been to Asia and Central America (not a continent) that the rails are not as marsh oriented but more forest oriented. It’s pretty cool to see rails in a totally different habitat!
Thanks! Yeah Okinawa is definitely a great spot for birding, if you go to the national park, I recommend staying at the Ada Hotel. It’s a really good hotel aswell as for birds!
Okinawa is beautiful. I dont know if I will ever get a chance to visit. If you are that into birds, my dear, make sure you make it to the Amazon. Greetings from NYC
@BirdingwithChris i love birds. i don't birdwatch, though i just see them in my yard and neighborhood during the summer months. NYC is very busyright now cuse of the holidays. Take care, dude.
Thanks! I definitely recommend Japan, especially Okinawa. It’s much different from anywhere in Japan. It’s so southern it feels like a whole different country! (And there’s great birds!)
Hey thanks Adit! I actually did get the woodpecker just my photos sucked of them. I barely even saw them for more than 15 seconds behind a bunch of brush! If you think this is a lot of endemics get ready for the Philippines video 🤫
Wow! That's a great video! I live on Ishigaki Island and see a lot of birds when cycling and running. I know a few of them by name but your video has been an eye-opener. How do you film the birds from so far away?
@@BirdingwithChris Thank you for your response. You inspired me to join eBird and register my first birdie as the Crested Serpent Eagle on it. Hahaha. Thank you Chris!
The Light-vented Bulbul, also known as the Chinese Bulbul is very common in Hong Kong 🇭🇰, more so than Japan 🇯🇵. The Pied Wagtail, the White Wagtail, and the Grey Wagtail are all in the same species and are all just ONE bird, according to the latest findings from bird taxonomists , unless they do DNA 🧬 testing to prove otherwise. The Varied Tit is very common throughout Japan 🇯🇵. It is endemic to most parts of Japan 🇯🇵.
Hi, Chris. As far as I know, Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR has both the Chinese Bulbul, aka Light-vented Bulbul and the Red-whiskered Bulbul. These two species are very common and are local birds of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR.
Hi there. Greetings from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. The last time I saw a Daurian Redstart was eight 8️⃣ years ago in my area, the New Territories of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. The Daurian Redstart is even more popular in Northern Japan 🇯🇵 than southern Japan, as more local Japanese professional birders see this bird more often, especially during the winter season there.

Where are those places located in Japan? They seem like they could be super fun to bird in

Another great production. You look older when you don’t ware a cap 😂. Have you ever considered doing a Q&A video or day in the life kind of thing?
Haha! I’ve never though of doing that type of video, maybe it will be an upcoming video in the future 🤫
We have the same camera!
Wow! It’s such a good and cheaper option than most cameras!
Which checklist app do you use?
I use eBird, it’s the most popular and best app to use for checklists.
