They were called air nomads DESPITE having dedicated temples because... they moved between the temples. Actual nomads have locations they return to, the only difference is that the places the air nomads returned to were made out of rock and on top of mountains so it was easy to just leave them be instead of rebuilding every time.

to add the temple's are both religous buildings and places that over housing the air nomads made the temples there homes but would also live on other spots therefor the people are nomadic in general
the housing is just a room and as the air nomads dont believe in ownership these were largely like a guest room its yours until you move out but you dont own it

The Air Nomads are 'nomads' because they mostly ARE nomadic, their temples are more like waystations and places to raise their kids until they're old enough to travel on their own. They had to have somewhere to keep artifacts, raise and train new air benders, and generally organize from. Those were the temples, most of the air benders were not at the temples most of the time.

Dante: "Her mother was dead before the planet blew up, so wouldn't she be queen already?"'
Randall: "Ahh, the whole movie's flawed. Like that lightsaber stuff. You turn it on, and it goes yea high; how does it know when to stop??"

@@michaelbryant3640 I did say consistency and logic, not realism. As long as that's just how the fictional technology works that's fine. That's different from the way it works or our understanding suddenly changing in ways that seem like a contradiction to some people. And setting aside the fact that a person can be sad about millions of deaths even if they gain some degree of political power, it isn't impossible for a country to need to officially recognize the transfer of title in some way. Plus I question how much additional ability to act she'd have suddenly had in the moment due to just that, making it less important than the military capabilities of every faction for millennia. All of which is completely beside the point. There's a lot of space between quibbling over everything and never being bothered by things that seem "off". Different people have different levels of ability to suspend their disbelief, and that's okay. They aren't objectively wrong to have any feelings at all just because of the genre, and it's understandable to be a bit annoyed if something you'd been enjoying for a long time very suddenly goes over your line and you can't get into it anymore. Which isn't to say being a dick about it is okay either.
There can be a whole spectrum of fantasy stories ranging from things where you don't even know if there were really any fantastic elements all the way to pure dream logic. More grounded fantasy isn't wrong for being what it is, and its fans aren't wrong for that preference.

Sasuke is actually a *great* setup because he's the last true Uchiha. The other ones alive have either tossed aside the clan or have been forced away from it, so it's up to Sasuke to decide what the Uchiha are about. He is the last one living *as* an Uchiha even before the others die.
Now I dont feel the series *does* enough with this, but I've read a lot of great fic that explore this aspect. Honestly it goes hand in hand with the thing's Red talked about with Aang, just yeah the added wrinkle of others running around who aren't worried about the culture anymore.

Yes, please watch Avatar: the Last Airbender. If you think you've seen the Cave of Two Lovers episode too much, you can skip all but the last couple minutes - the end of the episode does set up plot for the next episode (there is some nice world building in the rest of the episode that you might appreciate more if you watch the rest of the series, but it's optional). Also, don't be surprised if season 1 feels a bit slow or episodic - it is considered the weakest of the three, but is still quite good and sets up pieces for the next two seasons

The state where Smallville was located was left something of a mystery, but it's not too difficult to figure out that it was in one of the Eastern Seaboard states (specifically Maryland). It wasn't until the 1978 Superman movie that Smallville was re-imagined as being in Kansas.

I love the Trope Talks but I have to say, I would have preferred if you went with chronological release order rather than starting with the latest.
1:15 TV Tropes calls the phrase "I don't care what happens to these people." Eight Deadly Words. And it pretty much shows the same thing as "hated is better than boring/forgettable". TV Tropes description also includes "the opposite of love isn't hate it is apathy" in the description, which I would agree with.
5:00 Actually Vader being Luke's father wasn't planned back in a New Hope and was only added in Empire.
47:30 Cause they are nomads who move around. They do have temples as "bases of operation" but individual air nomads themselves move between the temples, not live in one for their whole life.
The cave/tunnel episode was the one with the two tribes who disliked each other that Aang claimed to know the founders of but did not.

Also, hard disagree that things like Hyperspace ramming doesn't matter. Yes it looked amazing, but the important part about stories is that they are internally consistent. No matter how hard or how soft they are, what's possible and what isn't should be consistent. Hyperspace ramming is something that would require a lot of explanation to make work within the decades of established rules, and that explaining wasn't done and what *was* done fell flat for a lot of people, me included.

    • @aokhoinguyenang3992
      @aokhoinguyenang3992 10 місяців тому +6

The biggest problem with Hyperspace ramming is how easy it is. This bring up question like why nobody thought of this before. Hitting a small target(like a ship) over a long distance is hard, but a planet or a space station is very achievable; so no need for Death Star or firing at a exhaust port on said Death Star just a big transport ship filled with explosive

On Star Trek TNG's androids, Data was the last one, but in the series, it changed outside of Lore.
The first is Data creates a daughter, but due to the nature of not being able to properly process the positronic brain and dealing with too many new things at once killed her.
Second, Data found out the wife and assistant to his creator (Soun) died and her memories transferred into a android the good doctor build. She does not know she is an android and keeps it hidden at the end under the urging of a recording of his father.
Then there is B4, which was introduce as protype of Data's line that was part of a process of Shinzun's to steal Federation secerts to invade the Federation. In the movie and later series Picard, which I am telling you never watch for its frustrating on every level, he takes over the body after dying.
So retcon is right for Data is truly the last for all other androids are dead, and forever are dead. There are no other androids revealed in the single season of Picard. Yeah, there are no 3 seasons, and if anyone tells you that, know they are liars and should be ignored. Season 3 was better then STD but still poor at best.

On the topic of Eccleston leaving Doctor Who,
The reason Eccleston left was because the production of series 1 of Doctor Who was a nightmare and certain crew members were not treated well. The BBC were originally going to keep his departure a secret which was what they agreed to with Eccleston, however, after Rose, Eccleston departure from the show was leaked and the BBC had to make a statement about it without telling Eccleston and they attributed a fake quote to him saying he was tired. Eccleston then took to legal action to which he was then blacklisted from the BBC and most of Britain so now he had to move to America to work as an actor.

Every single _good_ fantasy story (Or every story in general) _must_ stay consistent with itself.
Lord of the Rings, for example, literally was built with rules _first_ before the story was written. When you establish rules, its vitally important to _maintain_ those rules.
Otherwise, the viewer will just.... stop caring about the story.

Yes, some are just stating a personal opinion and many writers take it poorly (The comment of "Oh hey, that looks just like this character from this much more well-known thing!" has happened to me before... That character introduced me to Quiet from MGS. The individual saw me drawing this character of mine that has a nickname Rat and said something along the lines of "Quiet doesn't have an eyepatch or a shoulder-pad on one arm, or dog-tags". I had a twenty-minute argument with them, after they wouldn't accept that this character was not Quiet (Who are the time I said "Whoever that is") for various reasons. They then listed off everything about Quiet, to which we ended the argument when I said "Ok, that's cool, but Quiet's a human... Rat's a Werewolf that was experimented on in WWII, her eye is covered because it can't turn human-looking (Always a wolf eye), she has the shoulder-guard (Not a pad) because of an old injury and it helps protect her shoulder when using a gun that is basically an anti-aircraft gun she ripped off the ground, and she's German." They then read a short story I first ever wrote about Rat (Which was TWELVE YEARS before Phantom Pain was ever mentioned; they told me about that) and apologized for harassing me over a character I never heard of. We then bonded over MGS games as I began playing them soon after since I was curious to see this character they felt they had to fight about.
However, I have had MANY people outright claim I stole a work or character before, and then them ACTUALLY reading my stuff and apologizing when they find out that I may have never heard of something they were talking about or it's a COMMON design. Key example: Someone once claimed a script I wrote for a class in the style of Shakespeare was a rip-off of a movie that was popular... After I read the script out to them they realized my script is a gruesome romance story set in ancient Ireland and yeah once the violence in it starts they apologized.

i don't know how fast the fastest steam locomotives were, but some modern refurbished steam locomotives can get up to 80 MPH. i'm sure there were ones that could get up to 100 maybe faster. of course modern cars can get up to 200+ some even getting close to 300. depends on the car of course, but depends on the loco. *shrug*

Ah, the OTHER other great rabbit hold of OSP! Honestly they have a whole warren by now but that's beside the point. It is probably best to go chronologically with these because Red builds on them over time, although her Trope Talks on Plot Twists and Personifying Death are fantastic and her vids around the Five Man Band concept are just classics. Getting in some Avatar viewing is a good idea if you're going to react to these as Red goes to that well quite often.

I’m going to assume Airier hasn’t actually seen The Last Jedi because he says the middle part of that movie has no point and only exists to “subvert expectations” (which was something that Rian Johnson said off-hand in a interview, btw). It should be embarrassing for someone who claims to have a masters in writing to not seem to have thought deeper than the surface level.
The real issue with “subverting expectations” is no one who complains about writers supposedly trying to do so has any idea what they’re talking about!

Kinda funny you started to talk about accents while stopping video on Hatsune Miku (3:00), as this is linguistic joke for me as a Finnish person. I couldn't tell what original Finnish song, that Hatsune Mikus Ievan Polkka is based on, says since its words are from "just" over 120 years ago and from different region. I CAN'T AT ALL UNDERSTAND MORE THAN 20% WHATS SAID IN SONG!
