the thing about ancient Greece is that trickery was actually a respected quality. hippomenes using the golden apples to trick her was actually the right thing to do because, unlike every other suitor, he didn't think he was better than her, he didn't believe he could beat her in a race fairly, everyone else was arrogant. by needing to cheat, he was basically affirming that he recognized she was better than him in a straight race and thus respected her in a way others didn't. that's why she willingly lost the race to marry him.

The difference is that Odysseus was all trickster plus an archer. Archers are the pansies of Greek mythology, so Odysseus gets dragged down by his archery and his inability to back up his smarts with raw power made him even more annoying.

You missed the part of Atalanta's myth where at the end, she and Hipponemes have a "honeymoon" in one of Zeus' temples and as punishment he turns them both into lions. The belief at the time was that lions only mated with leopards or something and NOT other lions...

To dragons being in greece, the word dragon technically comes from greek. Notable examples being Typhon, Python and as you noted, the Hydra. However it is worth mentioning that "Drakon", basically translates as serpent. It isn't too dissimilar from the Germanic etymology of "Wyrm" or "Wurm/Lindwurm".
To be honest, up until modern fantasy interpretations (And that dragon chart I absolutely despise), overall dragon really is a broad term for most serpent-like mythological creatures. Hence why we also call the eastern variants dragons. They fit the idea of a powerful serpentine mythological creature, while technically diverging from the typical "4 legs 2 wings fire breathing lizard"

Notes about the Eros and Psyche myth:
    1. I was read a version of the Abduction of Persephone and Demeter's Search as a child that outright stated that the only reason Hades stopped doing his job long enough to catch feelings is because Aphrodite took his prolonged - and celibate - bachelorhood personally. So she orders Eros to shoot him with a love arrow right around the time he's passing by the field Persephone hangs out at. Meaning that Zeus may have given Hades permission to marry his daughter without consulting her mum, but the ruler of the underworld wouldn't have even thought to ask if Aphrodite hadn't decided the two of them made a cute couple and promptly took actions to make her ship reality.
    2. I was also read a version of the Eros and Psyche myth at the same age as the prior myth, along with several others because my grandmother thought they made good bedtime stories and wanted my brother and I to be exposed to culture ASAP, that indicated Persephone knew Aphrodite was the reason Hades fell for her and approached Zeus to request permission to marry/kidnap her. It also indicated she was still miffed about that...and the whole Minthe thing. So she filled the beauty box with a powder that induced ' "the sleep of death" explicitly to get revenge on the love goddess who can't mind her own business worth a darn.
    3. In that same myth, Persephone outright warns Psyche not to open the box and bring it straight to Aphrodite with all haste. Psyche doesn't, the death-sleep powder hits her full in the face as soon as the box is opened, and she collapses. Eros revives her by wiping the powder out of her eyes, and clearing it from her airways.
    4. Aphrodite apparently stops having an issue with Psyche as soon as she becomes a goddess herself, and turns full supportive mother-in-law and doting grandmother.

    Funny things about CuChulainn:
    - the reason he pucked the poor sweet Cu of Chulainn was because of an accident. His royal uncle invited him to this dinner held by the smith Chulainn, and forgot to tell the smith in question that Setanta (our hero before his eponym) would be late; thus he let his dog out too early. And Setanta only did it until the dog's younger sibling could grow old enough and be trained.
    - the thing with the Morrigan was admittedly a fairly good reason as to why Crow Mama isn't some godly Goth GF. She took an interest in Chulainn seeing him single-handedly fight off Maeve's army, and asked him to lay with her and gain favor. Despite having multiple affairs while married to Emer, he rejected. And pretty much every horrible guise that would strip him of his power was The Morrigan taking out her vengeance. And before you ask why'd she'd get involved, one of The Morrigan's domains was War and her chosen land was Ulster.
    - Cu'Chulainn was basically a Paladin-Berserker multiclass, because alongside his berserk Riastrad, he took a few oaths to make him stronger with each one having a guideline to follow to keep him extra buffed. One of his rules was "don't eat dog meat," and the other that The Morrigan exploited was "Don't refuse a meal from a woman."
    - the reason for the Riastrad was his father's lineage. See, Cu was a Demigod because Lugh was the born king of the Tuatha Dedanann, but Lugh was 1/4th Formorian. And Formorians were basically the monstrous pseudogod inhabitants of Ireland that lived there long before the Tuatha got there. And yes, the Formorians were several kinds of evil, including the living natural disaster known as Balor who is ten times the terror than anything the Greeks or Nords could think of.
    - He also was fairly smart. The main reason he was able to protect Ulster was because he fed the enemy troops into a kill zone on a Lone bridge that connected the two regions. Any soldier that got within 10ft of the bridge was dead like Dinner Goose.
By the way, this dude was so badass that there are somgs, old and new, about him. Which includes "Tale of Chu'Chulainn" by Miracle of Sound (get comfy, tbat's a good 8 minutes there)

There's a reason UBW Abridged is totally on point when they say "he's pretty much Irish Hercules". As for him having a chariot AND driver, first up, chariots have been a thing for a long time, I mean, pretty simple thing, and I'm pretty sure the first noteable army that used them historically was the Hittites, who had beef with the Egyptians about +1000 BC, so yeah, really old stuff. As for why he needed a charioteer to drive him around... it's not that efficient or easy to drive a chariot one-handed while trying to stab your opponent with presumably a speer, both are tasks you'd probably want to dedicate 2 hands to.
The thing with why Medb declared war against Ulster also was actually a bit more complicated, afaik, and has to do with Fergus (yes the Fergus that wants to bang anything that moves in FGO) and the story of Naoise and Deirdre, basically Naoise and Deirdre were a couple, King of Ulster wanted Deirdre, ordered his soldiers to bring her to him, Fergus ended up being the one to do it iirc, but he was so discontent with the entire situation because Naoise ended up dead, so he defected to Connacht, and when the time came, he spurred her just that little bit more to declare war on Ulster because he was still bitter about that. Also got to remember that Medb was probably something closer to a goddess or fairy as well. So... yeah, the story was probably about a bit more than just a cattle raid for one bull.
Note to how the Gae Bulg is used, usually there's also the condition that it has to be launched while standing in a stream of water, possibly because the thing is carved from the bones of a sea monster.
Also, I know that the question of what Cu Chullain tied himself to that rock with didn't come up, but generally, it was supposedly his guts... thus we get to Battle Continuation in FGO being called Guts... since the first one to really bring this standard kind of Battle Continuation to Fate was Cu in Stay Night.
As for Atalante... her beating Achilles dad in a wrestling match is why Achilles calls her "older sister" in Fate/Apocrypha, because supposedly he heard stories of Atalante from his dad.
I... also don't remember if Red just didn't mention it in this video or if you skipped it at the end there, but part of the reason Atalante is a catgirl in Fate is because at least in some versions of the story, either because she broke her vow of chastity to Artemis, or because they got it on in a temple of Zeus for their first time, or possibly both, Atalante and her new husband got turned into Lions... because the Ancient Greek believed male and female lions didn't reproduce together... so that's why Atalantes hair more so resembles a mane, to bring in lion-aspects, even if female lions technically don't have a noteable mane.
Also, the reason she ran after the apples is less so just because "ooh, shiny", but also because golden apples are considered something extremely precious in Greek Myth, I mean, it was even one of Heracles' labors to steal some of them, and he had to get Atlas to help him because they were guarded by a dragon. So... not something you'd want to lose, hence why Atalante was drawn to pick them up. So... it's generally argued wether Atalante really would've been fine losing to a guy using tricks like that, especially considering her vow of chastity, and if their relationship was really as consentual as depicted by Red.

2:48 No, it's actually pretty similar to Norse mythology. Snorri Sturluson (author of the Prose Edda) also tried to pass the Æsir off as ancient aliens/Trojans (that was the trend in medieval "national" historiography, to copy the Romans and the Æneid). I do believe it was more insistent with Celtic mythology because the authors were literally missionaries who also got there sooner (5th century), while Snorri and the saga writers wrote a few centuries after Christianization, when the stories were still alive but there was less need to proselytize about "there's only one true God".

Achilles looks up to her and calls her "sister" (with the same combination of term and honorific that yakuza use when addressing senior female members of their organization) because his father told him how amazing Atalanta was (when she defeated him in wrestling, when hunting the Caledonian boar, and when part of the crew of the Argo [because remember, in Fate she was part of Argonauts]).

Now that you mention it here's a thought maybe there used to be an even spread good and bad end greek stories but the Library of Alexandria burned down and we lost most of them. And the tragic ones survived better presumably because they were passed down more as cautionary tales. Its a little more important to make sure your kids understand not to piss off the gods which is more easy to do with scary stories than fluffy ones.

Regarding Atalante's cat traits in FGO, it's both from that anecdote and what happened after the race in some tellings of the story, likely added at some point to keep a Greek female hero from getting a happy ending and to discourage stepping out of gender roles.
In some later versions, when Hippomenes and Atalante consummate their marriage, Hippomenes forgot to do a proper sacrifice to Aphrodite after winning the race, and she made him and Atalante go crazy with lust in front of a temple to Zeus, and both and Artemis took umbrage to the sacrilege (Atalante losing her virginity was bad enough to her, but doing it in front of Zeus's face?), and the gods cursed them to turn into lions. According to those tellings, it was said that the Greeks belived that lions could not mate with their own kind, only leopards, meaning Atalante and Hippomenes could never again enjoy marital bliss with each other.
Red mentions this offhand in the credit reel.
In FGO, Atalante at some point hints that she is not entirely sure if this happened or not, likely as a nod to the fact that the whole thing is disputed to this day as anything but an abrupt addition to the story that didn't completely take but is known. Much like how Innocent Monster can add things to a Servant.

In European knights, i think the youngest, you were considered an "adult/fully trained knight" was 21 years old. So using that logic, being a "full adult" was early 20's/ finished your trade training.
So being 17 years old, and being considered a child, isn't that big of a stretch.
Heck, young brides/child, were mainly for Royalty/big contracts. Because even the ancient times recognized that women/teens had a better survival rate after 18 years old.
Plus the fact, that a child/ teen was still the property of the father until marriage, well, more hands on deck, more money/food harvested.

Fun facts about ages that were considered adulthood throughout history: In pre Holy Roman Empire times the Germanic peoples that Rome was in contact (and a loooooot of conflict) with on average got married at 20 because before then they weren't considered adults. So the idea of age of consent as a concept is around 2k years old. In wider Europe I mean, 'cuz I'm not speaking for other places where I don't know what's what and when.
Additionally most of the wilder age gaps and younger ages of marriage are usually just contracts between noble houses that threw in a marriage to a daughter to solidify alliances or to exchange hostages in order to affect peace between each other, which are pretty important records hence why theses practices are more widely known and misinform public perception of the topic.
Peasant folk by and large pretty much always married between ages 16 and 25 in Europe, consummation and subsequent pregnancy usually was relegated to 18 and up due to that happening to a girl several years younger than that usually resulted in the death of both mother and child and menarche was happening later in one's life until we reach the era of post-industrialisation in Europe, on average between 16-19 the higher ranges being older developmental tendencies.
    So yeah.
Relatedly, content warning for dark shit from the Now times:
The creepy child bride practices in the US and other places are often a relatively recent development and the even more toxic anti-abortion movement's talking points are an ahistorical invention by the Catholic Church to oppose women's equality, this then got appropriated by racists who wanted to crack down on interracial marriage while not *saying* that's what they're cracking down on with a heaping bonus of also being anti-feminist.

Right so, Red kinda completely made up most of the Atalante myth after Hippomenes shows up. On the basis that she wanted to, which REALLY sucks because then people who don't actually know the myth believe it since she's otherwise reasonably credible.
To quote Red herself later in the Persephone video "This is cite-o-genesis in action."
In actuality, the golden apples Aphrodite gave Hippomenes were enchanted to fascinate anyone who saw them. Atalante didn't get distracted by shiny or decide to let him win. He straight up cheated to win. Forcing her to marry a man who she didn't want to and then break her vows of chastity to Artemis. Made somewhat worse as in some versions a big reason for that is that Atalante was prophesized to be doomed should she wed. So already not great all around.
Then things got worse because Hippomenes forgot to THANK Aphrodite for her help bagging his unwilling wife, so she cursed them to bone in another gods temple. Which the gods punished by turning them both into lions on the basis that the ancient Greeks thought lions could only mate with jaguars for some reason. In essence they were turned into animals and cursed to never bone again.
So... yeah they absolutely did not live happily ever after either. And that curse is why Atalante has lion features in fgo. Not because shiny, but because she was literally transformed into one at the end of her myth.

FGO does bring up but that is a thing generally only normal berserker Cu gets because servants are only a small part of the legend of the heroic spirits(land, recognition and the magic energy of master can all improve that) Cu is one of the two example of how he would get things like a castle, chariot, protection of sleeplessness and so if summoned in Ireland would have more even if just in western Europe
it kind of varies why the three Geas that was placed on Cu some that caused him to kill him some it is revenge, some cu asked
He basically refused to be thirst with morigion so she decided to mess him up
Yep Fate is kind of funny sometime Fanservice and this is how it is described(like the whole Artemis being basically sex on legs is brought up when Aura decides it is a good ideal to insult how much of a woman Artemis is and how a boy like body like Aura is better)
"Artemis, you only have the name of a virgin maid, because your rounded breasts are full and soft, a woman's breasts like the Paphian, not a man's like Athena, and your cheeks shed a rosy radiance! Well, since you have a body like that desirous goddess, why not be queen of marriage as well as Kythereia (Cytherea) with her wealth of fine hair, and receive a bridegroom into your chamber? If it please you, leave Athena and sleep with Hermes and Ares. If it please you, take up the bow and arrows of the Erotes (Loves), if your passion is so strong for a quiver full of arrows. I ask pardon of your beauty, but I am much better than you. See what a vigorous body I have! Look at Aura's body like a boy's, and her step swifter than Zephyros (the West Wind)! See the muscles upon my arms, look at my breasts, round and unripe, not unlike a woman. You might almost say that yours are swelling with drops of milk! Why are your arms so tender, why are your breasts not round like Aura's, to tell the world themselves of unviolated maidenhood?’ "

17 years old being not a kid but not quite grown up yet isn't all that uncommon. I'm not sure on actual Celtic practice but I know for Romans while a boy left childhood and could do things like join the army at age 16 he also wasn't a full adult yet. His father or next adult male relative would still handle all monetary and busniess affairs. Also most Roman boys wouldn't typically marry until after their first beard shaving around 18 to 20. So while a teenager would be expected to carry their own weight to a point people seem to recongnize teenagers are still not ready for a lot things yet and thus not fully an adult.
