The reason for flaps 1 is because: 1. The plane is in MTOW due to the enormous fuel for the record-long flight. 2. Climb rate will be much higher at a slower speed. Because Engine power will be prioritized for climbing rather than speed.
@@WilliamMurphy-uv9pm A345 & A346 are not underpowered. They do have very high MTOW however. The long runout and flaps 1 for so long is because this plane is at MOTW and climb is prioritized over speed.

+ecoRfan Not entirely true. This flight started in June 2004 and back then the A345 was configured with 67 business class seats and 117 Executive economy class seats. They changed it to business class only in 2008.
I used to notice how the engines have that added motor sound to the jet engine sound during take-off and ascending, then the motor sound is shut off when reaching cruising altitude. That added motor sound I guess gives the plane extra power to lift it higher. Then it's not needed again because the plane then remains at the same height and then eventually descends. I also used to notice the engines quieting even more for descent. In other words, I guess that an aircraft is usually loudest at take-off, then a little quieter for cruising, and then quieter again for landing. Take-off is the loudest part due to the extra power a plane needs to lift itself higher against gravity. Pilots have said that it's possible to safely land a plane without the engines even on, but won't do it on a commercial flight for safety reasons
So far, I don't know of any 1000 mile long runway that will take you from one destination to the next with the plane speeding along the ground the entire way, watching the trees and fields rush by for 1000 miles in the same way you see them rush by during the take-off run before lift-off.
takeoff took long time until the aircraft climb because its need to reach specific speed depend on weight of the aircraft including cargo and passengers , when its reach the speed its can climb smoothly
Not sure the Ops. Procedures on those specific engines. But I would assume since the aircraft is at MTOW (Max Take-Off Weight), being in Singapore with heavy humidity (probably close to 85%) and extreme hot temperatures (lower air density) you must keep max-rated power up to a certain altitude perhaps. Don't quote me on this though.

For about two years, this was the longest flight (in miles nonstop) for commercial service in the world. 9,600nm. The 77L can fly farther, but demand wasn't in priority for such a route. The 77L could've worked, but this route couldn't profit for its cost to operate. In terms of time, LHR-SYD in a 77L is still longer, (19.5-21.5h's) but is only 9,100nm and is rarely done.
AmericaWest90 Currently, the longest nonstop flight is DFW-SYD using the A380. However, that'll change next year as Emirates commences service between Dubai and Panama.

Oh...I'm gonna miss this A340-500. This is the most beautiful aircraft in SIA
Almost ten minutes climbing and still flaps 1 are selected. This bird was extremely heavy! Nice video!
MTOW, probably.
The reason for flaps 1 is because:
1. The plane is in MTOW due to the enormous fuel for the record-long flight.
2. Climb rate will be much higher at a slower speed. Because Engine power will be prioritized for climbing rather than speed.
I noticed that unusual config... I was thinking maybe a noise abatement climb?
It's amazing that the flaps stay deployed for a long time after take off to gain altitude. The sound is outstanding.
Even with four engines, this aircraft is underpowered. Thus, long take-off runs and flap deployments. Once at cruise altitude she is a jewel.
@@WilliamMurphy-uv9pm A345 & A346 are not underpowered. They do have very high MTOW however. The long runout and flaps 1 for so long is because this plane is at MOTW and climb is prioritized over speed.

Good news: this flight is coming back. It's gonna use an A350 in ultra-long-range version.

19 hours in the economy class - a dream comes true :-)

This is the best A340 Takeoff sound EVER !!!! I love the A340 :D
Stunning engine sound!
Holy shit, I thought they were going to drive there... This thing took forever to get off the ground!
Hot steamy Singapore weather, heavy plane. You gotta use the entire runway.

Why they have the slats so long out ? I never saw that
That takeoff roll was almost a minute long! This plane was absolutely loaded to the MAX
Man im glad the BEST a340 version is still around.
i wonder what it feels like when you take off knowing you're going to be sitting in the same seat on a plane for 19 hours straight
I know, right... haha... crazy
That thrill and power from the engines! 😍🥰

Damn nearly a minute of racing on the runway
The good old days....
soon we'll sell the plane so lets fuck up the flaps before we do.
With that extremely fast take off and yet still takes 19 hours to go to new york? The earth is damn huge!!
Gian Serrano ? Extremely fast? That was the longest takeoff i have ever seen. that literally took like 85% of the runwayp
I love a340's, watching from a distance they look slow the suddenly rise up even slower like they are in slo motion.
AWESOME!!!! Love that plane
