Pure summertime, pure joy, pure artistry! You can't ask any more from music than that! 💯💕
One of their best.
Summer 1972. This song puts me right back there. ❤
You guys do a great job. Amber mentioned the other day how she felt she has grown. Music is awesome. Most of it is good, if one has an open mind, and appreciation for talent.
Very well expressed. I always feel good after hearing their reactions.
Indeed.
Except Thrash Metal. There's no room for that nonsense.
Oh 👍 yeah
Love you guys !
Chicago exemplifies when groups had to be able to play real instruments and sing with quality real voices! Their songbook is Deep and FANTASTIC!
Jay/Amber, Their "Beginnings", "Feeling Stronger Everyday" and "Just You n' Me" are next for you!
I also recommend "Wake Up Sunshine"
I love Beginnings. One if not my favorite Chicago song. Love make me smile too.
Add to that list “25 or 6 to 4”
Old days was a great chicago song too
I would “Dialogue pt1 and 2” and “ Wake Up Sunshine”
"Beginnings" definitely should be your next Chicago song. Amber will love the trombone solo; it's great.
Yes!! Beginnings is such a gorgeous romantic song.
Agree! I could listen to that song every day and not get tired of it.
100% agree
@wordsmyth8 I totally agree. It’s my favorite song of all time!
Another Robert Lamm song 👍
I think Amber will be mostly moved by the lyrics and his emotional approach to the woman he's singing to. He delivery, his phrasing will swoon her. 🙂
Listening with you guys is like listening for the first time all over again.
If you want another song with great horns, try Blood Sweat and Tears - “You make me so very happy” I’m sure you both would enjoy it.
Yes they were great too!
That is a Perfect Pick! it makes me so very happy!
I’ve been suggesting this for MONTHS! ❤️
My older brother got me hooked on BS&T when I was a kid. My favorite was always "And When I Die".
"Spinning Wheel" by BS&T has great horns too.
Another big horn band is Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Good songs include You Made Me So Very Happy, Spinning Wheel, Lucretia McEvil. BS&T also performed at Woodstock.
Sometimes In Winter.
Spinning Wheel has my favorite trumpet solo. The late great Lew Soloff! (note: the solo was edited out of the single version)
For a sheer display of the depth of talent of BS&T, Lucretia McEvil is a must listen.
Yesssss!
Please try "Colour My World" -- the slow dance at many a high school dance when I was a kid. Another side of Chicago I think you will appreciate. Really shows the diversity of their talent.
I never liked that song (I grew up with it too) until I heard this - ua-cam.com/video/Ts86Heyj_e4/v-deo.html - it is now one of my favorite songs.
@@rgoers You had me at the copper flugelhorn.
Colour My World is part of a longer piece Ballet from a girl in Buchannon. As is Make Me Smile.
Yes yes yes
My first slow dance in middle school
Yes, this song is so old that "Can you dig it?" was actually something you might hear in conversation. :)
Yes can you dig it was very much in everyday language!!
Some more, B-B-Q in the Park tunes:
The Friends Of Distinction - "Grazing, In The Grass".
"I can dig it.
He can dig it.
She can dig it.
We can dig it.
They can dig it.
You can dig it.
Oh...Let's dig it.
Can you dig it, Baby?"
The 5th Dimension - "Stone Soul Picnic".
Crosby, Stills, & Nash - "Judy Blue Eyes: Suite".
King Harvest - "Dancin' In The Moonlight".
Herbie Hancock - "Watermelon Man".
Van Morrison - "Brown Eyed Girl".
Doobie Brothers - "Long Train Running".
Mungo Jerry - "In The Summertime".
Paul Simon - "Me And Julio, Down By The Schoolyard".
Sly & The Family Stone - "Hot Fun, In The Summer Time".
Robert Lamm has lead vocals on this track, which he also wrote. He's one of three original members still with the group. The other two are Lee Loughnane (trumpet) and James Pankow (trombone).
Chicago has been performing for over 50 years.
Lamm or oankow songs Cantv say
@@mjsmcd ?
@@mjsmcd Lamm wrote it.
Peter Cetera.... What a voice!!! 💖 Chicago has an immense library!!! Colour My World, Hard To Say I'm Sorry, Love Me Tomorrow, You're The Inspiration, Wishing You Were Here, Hard Habit To Break and countless others are worthy of checking out!! 🎶🎶
I don’t care too much for that era of Chicago. The old stuff like Saturday in the park and Beginnings are much better. Just my opinion.
Not PC
That's right, but in general his voice is beautifully distinguishable and my favorite Chicago songs are typically the ones featuring Peter. ☺️
Robert Lamm on vocals.
@@mikekling he does have a beautiful voice. I loved that song he sang with Amy Grant back in the day. I can’t remember what it’s called though.
Chicago had 3 unique lead vocals on their early songs. Try out “Make Me Smile” led by Terry Kath. Crazy soulful and powerful. You’ll love it.
They have. Just FYI.
Yep they did.
“MMS” is part of the suite “Ballet For a Girl in Buchanan.” Work the whole suite!
Another is "What's this world coming to"
Terry Kath
BILLY JOEL- SCENES FROM AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT. The version from "The Stranger" album. A great story song, about the beginning and end of a relationship.
I've been wanting to make that recommendation for a long time. All the horns and piano a sane person could ask for.
While you're at it, you absolutely HAVE TO DO Chicago's first album, first track: Introduction. Amber, after your reaction to the horns in
The Logical Song, (which I've re-watched countless times), you might wanna' get a seat belt for that one. Just sayin'........
Great suggestion!!
They haven't listened to Billy's best songs from early on like Just the Way You Are and Honesty. He has some beautiful songs.
@@bethmiller1840 The music or the seat belt?
A great Chicago song is being played... and all you want to talk about is Billy Joel. Out of the Blue. Yeah, sure... right time and place. Not.
"I've Been Searching So Long" is one of my favorite Chicago songs, it's hard to have a fav song with Chicago when everything they do is awesome.
For my money this is one of the best songs to catch the weekend vibe.
Love this song! Chicago is a deep well of sound, enjoy!
Top five feel good song for me. Its always a mood lifter. "Can you dig it?" "Yes, I can.."
Grew up in Chicago in the 60's. These guys were a part of the soundtrack of life on the radio.
It was great being a little kid loving this amazing song… always loved Chicago!
Yes! Me too!
@@shotgunblast28 lol we were blessed with amazing music!
@@shirleycollins6241 yes. I was born in 1967. I’m also an Illinois girl. But seriously. They are awesome !
@@shotgunblast28 I was born and raised in Chicago and that made you a fan instantly lol, I never stopped grooving to Chicago.
Been pushing for Aliota Hayes Jeremiah's "LSD" for a while, need some representation from the Mid-West 👍🙋♂️
Another great park song is “Another Park, Another Sunday” by the Doobie Brothers. I think you’d like it. “I’m a Man” by Chicago Transit Authority (early days Chicago) is probably my favorite.
Another Park Another Sunday is my absolute favourite Doobies track. Would love to see them react to it!
I concur
"Saturday In the Park" is the song of theirs that gives me chills of nostalgia, much like "Maybe It's You" by the Carpenters. Another favorite of mine by Chicago is "Questions 67 and 68," which I wish was on their greatest hits (Chicago IX) album.
First time I heard this I was stationed at Ft Knox. Happy song when Viet nam was still winding down. Ended 3 yrs after this song.
"Saturday, in the park, I think it was the 4th of July"...I saw Chicago "in the park" (Grant Park in Chicago) but on a Sunday, the 5th of July (1987...free concert at Taste of Chicago). The crowd went nuts when they played this song given that it was one day past Saturday the 4th of July 😂 Great show!
"Does Chicago ever disappoint?" Nope. 😁 Going to see them in concert for the 29th time in two months!!
For a similar experience try Ides of March doing “Vehicle” or pretty much anything by Blood Sweat and Tears. Especially “Spinning Wheel.”
Yesssss!!!
Both of you will love Chicago's inspiring "Feeling Stronger Every Day" and their early masterpiece "Beginnings" - the almost 8-minute long version. :-) Have a beautiful week!
I always imagined when I heard this song smoke from a barbecue people throwing Frisbees a lot of small kids running with their dog and as cliche as it sounds "a Saturday at any park" is exactly what this song sounds and feels like! This particular song always brings a smile!
I used to actually have the album with this song on it in 8-track!
The song of my early childhood. Early 1970s, man. With music like this, we old GenXers didn't need "children's music"; the music on the radio was already perfect. :)
Yep!!
I'm 54, and only listen to music from the 70's.
FEELING STRONGER EVERY DAY would be the perfect choice for next Chicago song since you recently did MAKE ME SMILE (Terry Kath), Robert Lamm wrote and sang this tune, making Cetera next. Continue that rotation until it's just his left as he was lead in the majority of their work.
Beginnings and Feeling Stronger Everyday are awesome Chicago tracks
Every song by Chicago takes you on a journey.
Glad you're getting back to some Chicago!
They were the best. They were the first band I ever saw live. Milwaukee Summerfest 1972.
My mom and I have seen them at Summerfest so many times! They’re so great live!
I’ll bet that was awesome! I was 5 lol. Wish I coulda gone though
Saw them last week in New Orleans. After 57 years, they are still amazing. The original members still performing had incredible energy. I could see how much they loved touring and performing
@@mirrorneurongirl they are awesome in concert !!
“Look Away” should be your next Chicago song to hear.
Has to be one of the most underrated bands ever.
Chicago sure did make so.ee awesome music. And they all have wonderful voices. I grew up listening to groups like these, and I'm soooo sad to say, that we wo t ever get em back. I feel I was so privileged to grow up during this time. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL, & I LOVE YOU GUYS. FOR EVERRRRRR. ❤🎤🎼❤🎤🎼😎🇬🇧🇺🇸
Chicago 's music and lyrics are so vivid and clear its like you can feel the breezes ,see the people milling about, hear them talking, and feel the sunshine on your face all at the same time. They put you there.Just puts you in a good mood.Beautiful.
You can see everything they're singing in that movie theater in your mind can't you?
Reminds me of being in Middle School being in choir and being invited to sing several times at Magic Mountain! We got Season Passes as a Reward! Good Times!!!
Loved me some Magic Mountain. Been a long long time since I've been there. Lived in Texas thirty years now.
@@mjkdmain The world is so very different now, for the worse.. I feel a little sorry for the kids now. They've inherited such a cheap imitation of life these days as kids. At least we got to enjoy this world a little before the Elites began to outwardly destroy it in mass.
I saw Chicago perform with Earth, Wind and Fire. It was horn lover's heaven. It was possibly the best live show I've ever seen.
Same here
They had the inspiration of simpler times👌💯😎
I think you guys would really enjoy "No Tell Lover", "Call on me", and "Feeling Stronger Everyday". On another note you guys already reacted to "Hard to say I'm sorry", but not "Getaway" which is attached to it, and some stations play them together. Not suggesting it for a reaction just thought you would like to hear it. Essentially the song answers whether or not his apology was accepted.
As a rule, I hate 80s Chicago, but Getaway I love. I suffer the lovey dovey drivel of Hard To Say, just to hear Getaway. To me, Chicago completely changed in 82, started mostly syrupy love songs and lost all musical meat. Even the fast songs like Along Comes a Woman did nothing for me. I started liking them again in 95, when they did a big band jazz album.
No Tell Lover is so underrated.
@@dawnpatrol700 David Foster for better or worse.
@@rodhubbard6320 I despise everything he did with Chicago, but yet love his song "3 themes" from the Secret of My Success soundtrack.
@@dawnpatrol700 I Can't deny Foster. I know to an extent that he mellowed Chicago out but a lot of that production was pretty GOOD. He just didn't know what to do with the horn section which was the Core of Chicago.
"Wishing You Were Here" is a song of longing, emptiness for a distant love.
Have a great day!
this song is one of the very few songs that makes me cry.... 🥹🥹🥹🥹
I absolutely love this song. 💕
My *favourite* Chicago song, right here!! As soon as that pounding piano starts... it's GAME OVER 🤩
I keep waiting for y’all to react to Blood, Sweat, and Tears with David Clayton-Thomas singing lead. Innovative sound, great vocals, and great horns. Give the people what they want and pick any of these: Spinning Wheels, God Bless the Child, You’ve Made Me So Very Happy, And When I Die.
Another vote for Blood, Sweat, and Tears! So much to listen to there much like Chicago but more vocal punch.
Not more vocal punch...what?
As always, Peter’s bass line is the driving force and it’s soo smooth!
That change from the bridge back to the top is so great!
My wife has a crush on the trombonist, James Pankow, because the first time we saw Chicago live, he pointed at her and winked. I'll bet he has "girlfriends" everywhere. 😍
I think you should stay with songs from the first eleven albums for now because then you'll still be dealing with the same seven core (beginning) members of the band. I'd say go to my favorite Chicago song next, Dialogue parts 1&2 (on the same album as Saturday in the Park), except that I think you should go right back to the beginning and listen to the first song from the first album wherein they introduce themselves to the world with, Introduction. It really does clue you in to what they're all about. Then you can move on to a long, long list of fabulous tunes. Really fabulous...
Love you guys. Carry on!
Love me some Jimmy Pankow too!!! Woohoo
This song came during Expo 74 " Which was in Riverfront Park in Spokane Washington 😊
Beginnings may be my favorite Chicago song.
Also, for horns, maybe check out Blood,Sweat, & Tears
Beginnings is mine too!
God Bless the Child by Blood, Sweat and Tears. One of the first Rock-Brass combos Also, You Made Me So Very 😊 Happy One Fine Morning by Lighthouse. Vehicle by the Ides of March. Lots of Horns!!!
Amber, you said that listening to Chicago “makes me smile”. They have a song that is called Make Me Smile. It would fit your feeling about the group and also your daily goal to make someone smile. That is definitely a song that requires a reaction. 😀
Triggered the same thought for me. Great song. 😎👍
They reacted to it…. Maybe that’s why she said that?
"Feeling Stronger Every Day" is next on your list of Chicago classics.
One of my all time favorite bands
OMG! My childhood! Great song! Thanks for reaction!
I saw them 10 yrs ago here in Windsor Ontario. A beautiful summer evening, and I was soaring with light heartedness! Not a single dud in their performance! 🎶👍
Drummer has such great feel
Chicago's "beginnings" is so on point also!!
"One Fine Morning" by LIghthouse. Horns, harmonies and happiness. Thanks.
MY FAVORITE BAND IN MY YOUTH!
I HAD ALL ALBUMS
A big thing I enjoy about Chicago is they have a lot of great album cuts, not just memorable hits. Some of my favorites never received airplay but are fantastic tunes.
Jay and Amber, I'm reliving my formative years through you two. Thanks so much for playing and loving Chicago. Glad you have such an appreciation for them. Perhaps one day, you can listen to one of their lost 1975 hits: Harry Truman. Its sentiment is one that easily applies to today. And it's unlike anything else they've ever done ... a cross between Randy Newman and the Beatles!
Saw Chicago play live back in the mid-70s. Absolutely fantastic and completely captured their studio sound on stage.
I was always a fan of early Chicago, the later ballads were fine, but the instrumentation and song structure in the first few albums was phenomenal . Really would like to see a reaction to "Beginnings".
If you like this one, you need to react to DOES ANYBODY REALLY KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS. Great Chicago tune. Also, FEELING STRONGER EVERYDAY.
Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is is GREAT! I love that song!!
I love this song. Reminds me of Saturday's in the NYC parks! This
1st..Lol..Chicago "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?"
SPEAKING OF TIME Do you ever think about ETERNITY ? This is a very awesome way to have a platform for the Lord Jesus Christ. Eternity is coming for everyone whether you want to think about it or not. To know that you are going to be around forever. Either in Heaven with God or in Hell with Satan. God made it possible to be with him. All he asks you is to believe in his son the Lord Jesus Christs his death burial and resurrection. To cleanse you from your sins past present and future Sins took all your shame and Guilt and he died for everybody that's ever lived and when you know he died for you,,,, personally...to forgive all your sins past present and future sins and you can add nothing of your own works to add for your salvation. He will give you wonderful peace FOR EVER He has me. This is the best NEWS Ever I hope to see you in Heaven .Take care God bless you have a great day
Great song, one of my favorites by them!
♥ Love Chicago! "Can you dig it? Yes I can!" :-)
Chicago was such a great band. Concerts were so inspiring. The horns, piano and awesome guitar.👍
I love Chicago and their horns. You should react to the beautiful horn music of Chuck Mangione, especially his tune Feels So Good.
Now, if you want a completely different song from these guys, go for “Along Comes A Woman” it was recorded a decade or so later, and it’s as much an 80’s song as this is a 70’s.
Terry Kath was a Genius and an incredible guitar player.
WISHING YOU WERE HERE-CHICAGO
💋
Check out this sweet song by them that came out in the late 70's by them called No Tell Lover. It's smooth as butter!✌️
Wishing You Were Here is an amazing chill Chicago ballad with great harmonies. So underrated
So happy you reacted to Chicago again! Robert Lamm is the lead singer and my favorite...loved them since I was a kid in the '70s. This song endures and puts you in a beautiful place - as you said, the composition is masterful. It tells a visual story and the horns just accentuate it!
Growing up in Chicago in the 70s, this song is my childhood.
How can you not have a good feeling, listening to this fantastic record. A great band. 👍👍🎶🎶💕
"If You Leave Me Now" is another great one by Chicago...so emotional and you'd love the instrumentation on that one as well.
I have always loved this song! It is a top five song on my all time list.
Amber's face lights up when the horns play... I have a playlist with Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, KC & TSB and lots of other horn bands. So glad to see the love ❤
I was lucky enough to see them Pre Pandemic at Jones beach Theater. Everyone was dancing. This is one of my Favorited Chicago Songs Neck and neck with Color my World.
Yes, hard to choose, though!!
Hey.......I'm sure you hear plenty of this but you really should review Chicago "Dialogue Parts 1 & 2". And listen to the words......really hits home. Thanks Sam
This is so nostalgic for me. When this came out ,we went to the park with our newborn and my family. It was Saturday on the 4th of July. We ate and played and the whole time this song kept playing on the radio. I love these guys.
Love this band! They have a music catalog out of this world! I also love both of your love and appreciation for great music!
They were insane in concert. All the instruments, all the band members. The stage was filled.
I think this is my favorite song from them. They have so many great songs.
This is such a joyful song. Total “feel good” music! Fantastic! 🌺✌️
"Wishing You Were Here" is another great one.
They are very versatile, they can play every type of music, rock and roll, jazz, rhythm and blues, classical, etc!😊
Happy Sunday! 😄 For horns, check out anything with Tower of Power. My favorite is Huey Lewis and the News Hip To Be Square.
Tower Of Power... So Very Hard To Go... That baritone sax ....
It takes me back in the 70s. Everything they sang about was mostly I remembered growing up. Great reaction ✌🏾✊🏾👍🏾
Feeling Stronger Everyday by Chicago!
Chicago is the reason I learned to play the trumpet. Also Herb Alpert "A Taste of Honey".
My favorite Chicago song. Takes me right back to my childhood and simpler times. Such a great song! Amber your analysis of this song is spot on! How they use the horns to bring you into the park. The tempo is light and makes you feel like you're there! You totally get this song!
I was waiting for you to review this song. I figured Amber would love it!
Again one of my favorite songs❤ Especially driving with no place to go...windows down, sun shining😊
Never a bad song. Ever. ❤🎶
