Former UA-cam vlogger Ruby Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt were sentenced to prison in Utah on Tuesday after they both entered guilty pleas to four child abuse charges involving Franke’s children. Police charged the two after Franke’s youngest son and daughter were found emaciated and with injuries after being tied up in Hildebrandt’s home. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber wraps up the case that has garnered worldwide attention.

Never forget, right after her arrest, Ruby was so furious at her son for escaping that she literally accused him of molesting the other kids. She is pure evil.
I remember that. I wish the judge would have brought that up during sentencing.

Her husband watched as his wife destroyed the life of their children and did nothing. He should be in prison too.

The thing that bothers me about everyone saying Ruby was manipulated by jody is that she had people calling out her parenting methods for being abusive long before they ever met. Ruby was up to this type of behaviour on her own.
Yes, she was already abusive. I believe that she was even further influenced by Jodi and she became even more abusive, but she is culpable either way. She was susceptible to manipulation because she already had strict religious beliefs and strict parenting style.

Ruby cried and sounded more upset about her marriage and losing her husband than her kids and what she did to them. I don’t buy it for a second. She’s manipulative and full of it. Those children weren't "precious" to her, they were her tools for her "fame" and "fortune" Those children will have emotional trauma for the rest of their lives. She has denied them food, water, and necessities that children need, and she vlogged about it. She's no mother, she's a monster, and the ONLY reason why she is crying now is that one child was brave enough to escape her, then she got caught, she would continue to do this if that boy didn't run away, I lived in a household like this and I sympathize for the kids, hopefully, Kevin won't have custody of them either because he's as much as an abuser and Ruby is.
You would think she was accepting an award for all the people she thanked. The last two minutes she tried to actually accept any responsibility. They both received the same sentence. The Parole board hopefully sees right through all of this. No one feels sorry for either of them.
I think gov’t should show Franke & Hildebrant what it’s like to go thru what they put Frank’s kids thru by making them experience themselves.

At about the 24 minute mark of this video, outside the court room, the prosecutor says he thinks the 4 year sentence for Ruby, which would be the bare minimum, is appropriate punishment. Are you kidding me? She should be in jail until all the kids are fully grown and on their own, away from both parents, perhaps in their own successful marriages with supportive partners.
How come they didn’t specify the number of years each would actually spend in prison? We already knew they pled guilty to 4 counts, the counts carry a 1-15 year sentence and that they would be spent consecutively. Why didn’t they specify?

@@surlywithfabshoes Because in Utah, a sentencing board determines at a later date what the exact amount of years in prison will be. So the judge says 1-15 years per count, but the sentencing board will actually set the amount of time within that 1-15 year guideline.
I doubt she will be anywhere near them unsupervised & shes under the public eye now..

I've heard the neighbour's police call several times and it hasn't failed to make me tear up. The horror and emotional pain that man is feeling is palpable. I hope peace and healing for everyone affected by the evils of these people.
Did you notice the female paramedic who started to cry after seeing him so tortured and hungry? I was so glad the lady neighbor gave him food and something to drink. She talked to him so lovingly.

It happened to my former next door neighbors daughter and it caused the Mom to have a total emotional break down, I don't know if she ever recovered from it.

It's totally pointless to talk about the crying or not crying of the convicted or even the accused, since there never is the right kind of crying anyway. If the convicted doesn't cry, it proves once and for all that he or she is a cold hearted, evil monster. If the convicted cries, he or she always cries for completely wrong reasons and in a completely wrong way and is definitely a cold hearted, evil monster. So, why bother? If he was not involved in the final year prior to the arrest of Ruby and Jodi, he was absolutely involved in every DOCUMENTED instance prior and assuredly many that the audience never saw.
There are many of us that are revolted at the idea being promulgated that Kevin just needs his kids back under his “fatherly care “ for them to heal. He was also an abusive parent. (Although it was perhaps not as extreme.)
Kevin needs to be examined very closely before any child should EVER be released to his custody.
Further the LDS church and their representatives, who have recommended & endorsed Jodi as an accepted therapist for LDS church members, need to take accountability too!!!

I hope that they’re building a case against him. One of the reasons why I think they’re with DCFS and not with him. If he didn’t actively participate or initiate; he turned a blind eye to pacify his wife or didn’t believe his kids.

Kevin is just as guilty as Ruby. There were concerns about the care of the kids while “8 Passengers” was being filmed, and he was right there, fully aware of what was going on.

Monsters. 4 years minimum is nowhere near enough. If they're willing to do anything for the kids as they claim make them go through the conditions they put the kids through for the full length of their sentences. "Willing to serve prison sentences." What a gaslighting laugh. The prosecutor said at the end it was one of the most obvious cases they'd ever seen.
I think he may of meant it would be 4 years for each count, which are served one after the other, which would make 16 years total.
@@Adykayful No, I'm sure, the reported sentence was a range of 4-30 years. 4 counts of crimes each carrying a sentence of 1-15 years with each sentence to be served consecutively, the exact number to be determined by a parole board, and Utah caps sentences at 30 years.
So Ruby seeing her children in pain and begging her didn't move her but the cops slapping cuffs on her did? The same cops she said she distrusted? Being a manipulator she is saying exactly what everyone wants to hear especially the Judge. Don't forget she was acting on social media for years.

Ruby should serve the remainder of time that her children are underage minors. Her youngest is ten; That’s at least 8 years at a minimum. She took their early childhood, she should loose the remainder of their late childhood.

She’s still playing to the audience, she has no remorse for what she did to her children, she’s just really sorry she got caught. She’s the mother that allowed this to happen to her own children, She’s the real psychopath here.
