A Florida couple is accused of trying to lure a 9-year-old girl into their van when she was playing outside. The young girl's mother reported the could-have-been kidnapping to police and said the two suspects live in the area. The child's mother told authorities it wasn't the first time she told the couple to leave her kids alone. The child told police 31-year-old Taiana Tersano rolled the window down and told her to "come here," while her boyfriend 34-year-old Michael Diaz drove the van. Law&Crime's Elizabeth Millner breaks down the shocking story.

It’s sadly a classic in these cases that the abusive/drugged out parents tell their kids again and again that DCF is *bad* and that the police will hurt them, etc. All lies to protect their disgusting activities.

False reports get called in all the time. People like to use them as a way hurt/harass an ex or someone they just dont like. I had a neighbor report my mom to cps because my brother and I would play outside without shoes on in the middle of summer.

At that young age I had no idea who and what DCF/CPS was when I did first hear about it it was from a classmate who was in foster care and her foster parents was adopting her and the only reason this even came up in elementary school was because when the classmate got adopted and all the paperwork was done she changed her whole entire name and I was so curious and nosy 🧐 I asked her a million questions like how in the world you get to pick out and change your name in the 5th grade and this 10 year old explained to me why she got to legally change it and pick out a new first name as well I went home that day and asked my Mama another million questions 😅❤
Considering that they're homeless and clearly addicts, I would be very surprised if this is their first brush with DCF/CPS. Not saying that homeless parents are inherently bad parents, but being unhoused is definitely something DCF would pay attention to.
I had an aunt who hated my mom. Dad's whole family did. My mom was an amazing mom, btw, but they were always calling cps on us. So I knew by the age of six who CPS was. Not very uncommon either because CPS frequently came to our school. I lived in a very poor rural area of KY. And everytime cps pulled a child out of class, they would unfortunately get bullied for it, so that goes without saying most kids my age knew who cps was. And I remember getting picked on over it. This was early 2000s

I understand that police officers have a very stressful job, however the occupants of the first van did not match the description at all and they were treated like they were just caught red handed punching granny’s in the face. Wtf?! Those two men handled that situation amazingly and deserve a public apology because that is beyond humiliating and demoralizing.

Cops get wrapped up
in their training. They are used to treating people like suspects. They ask the same questions un different ways to catch people in contradictions and then take those contradicting and poke holes in your stories.
This method may catch people lying but it has also taken copsbto go above and beyond to charge people over a contradiction they misread.

"Your VEHICLE matched everything, so did the tag"....literally what he explained to the guy word for word. They were looking for an older van in the immediate area and obviously had no idea who was in the vehicle until they stopped it and got them out.
They was pulling over every van in that neighborhood.... van like that could hold a number of people and hide them as well... so who was occupying the van would be irrelevant if I was in their shoes

The witnesses described the van as being old and beat up and the occupants being male and female. Cops immediately pull over a van in excellent condition with two males.

Had to pick up their son from school and was coming right back. The mom probably should have went since she wasn’t there to witness it but they probably didn’t think that through very well. He was probably about to leave to pick him up and it all happened.

When I was 12 years old, I was sitting on my outdoor stoop. A man came down my street pulled over next to my house. He too, tried to lure me in; using overt S statements. He literally ran up opened my gate to grab me. Had I not had a teenaged brother who came running through our plate glass screen door, w/a baseball bat, I literally would not be here today. He laughed as he hoofed it to his car and sped off.
…Police did so little, I’m messed up from it. All police agencies must NEVER discount anyone’s pleas. If the police officer would have done his job, and detectives were called in, those individuals & more could have been found…
I’ve seen him & and his brother/friend three/four years later. Cruising around the parking lot during a high school football game. They saw me, he knew exactly who I was. They chased me with their car until I could get help.
….Those criminals were part of the kidnapping & horrific deaths of the Lyon Sisters. Read up on that case.

I'm not about victim blaming, but I agree! Why in God's name would you allow your child 5 inches away from you if this had happened before?? I'd be armed and waiting if they were lucky enough to have gotten away the first time!

I don't understand, she said she has warned this man to stay away from her kids before, then why would you let them out there playing, I would never trust anyone like that, too late if he had taken her, mine wouldn't leave my sight and if they have a back yard, then thats the only place they would be allowed
They were going to do many things to the kid
When the cop stopped that older guy, he said the suspect was trying to abduct two little kids, that's not what the mother said at all, she said it was her daughter that's all.
She said her daughter and son were outside. So I'm assuming those are the two little kids
It's like a game from telphone... that cop most likely wasn't on scene to get the original info..the information was passed along by radio.....
Some cops seem to have a problem listening.
Their son was around 10 yrs old and he was familiar with DCF.

The men did not have to give identification, nor did the tag match because they don’t know the tag number. Cops don’t have to lie . Ughhh
