Can you do a instructional video on how to wire the new ignition switch for a 1970's merc 402 40 hp? My ignition switch was rotted and all the wires broke off. I got a replacement from e-bay but the wires are different. My harness has a red, tan, yellow, and black wire. New ignition has a purple, red, yellow/red wire?

Where's a good place for the electronics and maybe a timing belt for back up heard they are next to impossible to find 🤔 any direction would be appreciated. Thanks

Will this switch setup work for a 1978 mercury 402 40hp? And does it work just deleting the neutral switch from the Mercontrol box?
Yes

There should be a pigtail on the front of the controls for that.

@Stuart Varnon they did make an adapter at one point. Hard wiring will work. It's just, power, ground, and tach.
