- Since we originally unveiled Heart of the Swarm back in May, we've continued working in secret, laboring in the dark recesses of Blizzard's sheetrock-lined offices on the dank and gloomy coast of Southern California. We're proud to present additional fruits of that labor in this new teaser cinematic of footage rendered entirely within the StarCraft II game engine.

Funny that i have the game and play it, but the trailer still amazes me.
I've been playing Starcraft since I was 4. I'm so glad they are focusing on it again.

Amen! I considered maybe they just want an out of context, over-simplified trailer to attract the masses but really, there's much more depth underneath it all as you unravel the story.
Prometheus entered production in April 2010. Assuming the sound tract is the same, one could debate about it but I can't find anything on when the song was written however it's actually been used in several movie trailers it's called "Judge and Jury" by Audiomachine and all they do is trailer music.
Vengeance, shall be mine!" The execution of that line sounds like something out of a mythical epic story...Which it kinda is.

Christie Golden did that damn well. Enough gory detail to make you get it, but so little that you had to fill in the blanks with nasty ass details.
Those units which can pull enemy units seem impressive!
the first 35s of this trailer are still incredible
Even after playing through the whole game including Covert Ops, this is still my favorite campaign.
*Note: I'm guessing they'll have a 'Campaign Expansion' (think Brood Wars, but for each faction) for each faction some time after the Protoss Expansion is released.

Yes, please! Kerrigan is pretty much the only Zerg character left. The Zerg had so much potential for being much more than just the mindless omnicidal always chaotic evil army of drones. They should explore her feelings towards a swarm of creatures that more than predators are a whole ecology of their own. The alien nature of the Zerg can only be explored from the perspective of an exhuman that got deep into the swarm. Just as they gave us a deep look into terran life in WoL, so should be for Z

this was 2 years ago... all of these missions pretty much remained intact... the ones in the montage of clips
the very last scene makes me want to have a starcraft warmovie, not much story and shit, play the games, but just epic battles and great animations, at leat 2 hours. DO IT!

The Blizzard tech support team is awesome. They got my account back after I practically ripped my hair out for an hour trying to do it on my own. They're useful, friendly, and easily accessible. And they talked me into upgrading to the SC2 HoTS Collector's Edition, which I'll be doing next week! Thank you Blizzard, you guys are awesome!
lol, I heard a missile sound sample from Total Annihilation play quite loudly when the battlecruisers first started warping-in. Damn, that game was published in 1997...

I also read Flashpoint. I can confirm that Kerrigan's character is far deeper than the "I want to kill Mengsk revenge revenge revenge," (though it does motivate her to pull off some pretty cool shit)

If you played starcraft one (Witch im considering you did because you know who Samir Duran Is) i think he was a traitor, he worked with the zerg, and in a zerg misson, you unlock a bonus mission as the protoss to inspect tanks that he is experimenting with.
I beleave he caused some zerg to go rouge.

As a Protoss fan, I would like the say that Tempest looks so cool. And that AOE effect is just simply awesome. Can't wait to play them!
The movie will definitely come out someday, since it is a franchise game!
A few decades from now Hollywood will do a movie of StarCraft. I hope Blizzard will be involved in the production. I'm just hoping that I would still be alive when that time comes. You know Blizzard. It takes them a million years.
I'm very happy about the new units from Tempest
Thankfully for StarCraft 2 you don't have to pay monthly (thats only with WoW) you buy the game once, your able to play it forever :) they do have an offline mode which doesn't require an internet connection... although in the other StarCraft 2 game that was broken... dunno if they ever got it fixed, but to get achievements and what not, you do need an internet connection.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Hopefully this follows the trend of many other trailers and highlights things out of context... or is only showing the "beginning" portion. Then again the WoL trailer showed a lot more depth... here's to hoping
I just want to play through the story to see that ultralisk brush off that rocket attack.

In StarCraft 2, you played as the humans in the campaign. This one adds a zerg campaign. (aka story mode). The next expansion will be about the last race which I forgot the name of.

She's always been a psychic, and they've always had weird abilities. Apparently force-choking is included in the list of abilities now.

Well in Broodwar, her main objective was to gain complete control over the Zerg. Remember, you had to kill the baby Overmind, and had renegade Cerebrates to deal with. So she didn't really have a huge army to get to Mengsk with. But after a long time of gathering her forces, now she does.

All of these things are awesome and I wish to see explored to some extent.
I think she meant that as to give them a few minutes head start. I'm sure she killed most if not all of the UED But I would like to see a return of them too :P

That's probably the cinematic you'll get when you side with Tosh in WoL. Nova helped shut down the Spectre program when you side with her, remember?

StarCraft seriously needs to be MANY movies, since one simple movie would never cover the entire story of StarCraft... It's so complex and intense, it would need several films just for SC1 and Brood War. The day it'll come, i hope it will beat Avatar's record :p

She's not fully human. Just look at the zerg-tendril hair. She's still corrupted by zerg, but her DNA is now more human than zerg. Nobody really *knows* but it's likely that she'll end up re-transforming into the Queen of Blades in her efforts to take down Mengsk.
There's a book you could read (Starcraft: Flashpoint) if you're really curious. It describes what happens between Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm, and what's going on in Kerrigan's head.

Well they seem to suggest that Kerrigan and The Queen Of Blades are actually different characters. From SC1 onwards she was essentially a zerg creature, now she's much more human like her old self. Rather than doing things for the swarm she is using the swarm for a more personal agenda. I see no mistake here.

Prior to "the deal" SC2 was to be released in its entirety, but after the deal. The game was broken up into 3 "campaigns" with the excuse that they wanted to 'flesh out' each faction....it that was the case why is each game the full price of any 'complete' game.
Kotick specifically states he wants to monetize the games of Activision..you can be he'd want to do the same for Blizzard's.
$50 x (3+3 expac) = $300
$50 x (1+1 expac) = $100
