The reason why this Cinematic is so amazing and emotional for Star craft players is because we understand this whole fight scene . We see a single probe warp in a pylon at the start of the fight . We see a Templar use storm on some lings but the storm specifically targets the Lings .( instead of just a big area of storm) Then we see the same Templar merge with a wounded Templar and form an archon then. We see a zealot use it’s shield to absorb one hit from the baneling but zealots can’t take another hit without recharging its shield so the zealot falls . All this while at exactly 90 seconds the pylon warps in and every Protoss player knows that they can warp in gateway units with a pylon . So while this cinematic is amazing watch without having any of this knowledge . To a Star craft fan this cinematic let’s us see the game in a whole new way we’ve only seen in our imaginations.
Well said. I agree on everything, except one thing confuses me: why do people keep commenting on the 90 second pylon thing? Does that have an in-game relevance of some kind?
SC player from day 1. I buy everything. Yes and masters league level. It shows all of the perk for a player to achieve what you need. This trailer is beyond amazing for Protoss players.
There are so many small details in this that make it so much more amazing. 1:23 the zealot's soul being warped out of his body right before he dies. 1:31 the way high templars move, they leave behind afterimages like they do in brood war 2:55 zealot legs upgrade
well, this take place in Aiur, homeworld of the Protoss, the huge vessel crashed up the hills, was Tassadar's one, and he crashed it into the old Supermind of the Zerg back in sc1, killing himself in the action. I guess that makes it even more epic!
I've played games for over 30 years, and no game cinematic has even given me the chills and emotions like this one. Especially when two high templars merged and when the pylon finally finished warping in.
I love how all the Protoss didn’t even hesitate to die for the mission. Especially that one zealot who used himself as a meat shield against the banelings to protect the pylon
1:35 - 1:59 The way they build the song, the line , the SFX and the scene in perfect harmony with what the scene is trying to create, is JUST PERFECT, an absolute masterpiece
Starcraft is a popular game too, not as much as Warcraft but still a popular game. Also, it's easier to understand starcraft. WC have a lot and i mean A LOT of civilizations. If you wanted a good example of cinemas with and without good sound editing, just play the WoW trailers for Warlords of Dreanor and Legion expansions back to back. The WoD trailer has amazing sound direction, it's punchy and bombastic. You feel alert and immediate to the action. The Legion trailor's sound feels distant and subdued like you are watching all the cool things happening through 2 feet of aquarium glass instead of really being there. Yep. Period. Archon formation moment, and the pylon warp-in with immediate reinforcement is just absolute awesomeness. I get chills every. single. time.

That scene when the Ultralisk emerges from the ground. The music, the look on the templars faces - it just personified the struggle the Protoss went through against the Zerg.
Not just Blizzard. Tell me one scene from any movie, drama, or game cinematic that's more desperate, action packed, and emotionally moving than this. I can't.
I just watched this cinematic all over again since you commented and goosebumps EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Why doesn't blizzard make a movie about this? I'd give EVERYTHING!
So, three zealots and an Archon managed to kill... three banelings, five hydras, approximately thirty zerglings and a freaking Ultralisk. That is one efficient army right there.
I love how a Blizzard executive just sat down and said to everyone around him, "You see that probe that made the pylon? Let's make a hero out of that."
I still have not figured out why that one scene in this cinematic prompts such an emotional response from me as well. It's such a powerful (no pun intended) scene. The only description that conveys the situation is the description of the formation of the Archon pulled straight off the wiki... "In times of great need, two High Templar or Dark Templar can merge into a single entity that radiates overwhelming psionic power and rage. The decision to lay down the lives of valuable Templar is never made lightly. Perhaps their energy was spent. Maybe the warriors themselves chose this final act of sacrifice over succumbing to their injuries. Regardless of its origins, the Archon's presence on the battlefield fills the minds of all beings - psionic or otherwise - with primal fear and awe."
+Orissan the Graphics in a CGI movie have nothing to do with how a Movie could turn out..Look at Toy Story 1 for example, the CG looks weird by todays standards, but no one cares cause it had a good story. But personally i enjoy the stories Blizzard tells more.
zodiac909 What you enjoy is your prerogative, but I don't think there are more than a thousand people in the world who could listen to this kind of dialogue for 2 hours.
LotV Opening: "The Khala is awesome, its our greatest strength and with it the enemy will never break us" LotV minutes after the opening: "Oh god the Khala is ruining everything!"
I find the most amazing part the Zealot that has done his job in the end, protected the pylon and looked exhausted or injured getting back up. And yet when the other Zealots arrive he charges from the back and forms the spearhead again.
+lichmaster kirlin haters be like SC Brood war is still the best so no matter what we see....just pressing "dislike" zz (even they didn't play SC:Brood war)
+lichmaster kirlin zergs hate everything, u know cause protoss to busy being epic pressing LIKE and terrans to busy whining cause well thats what terrans do isnt it ? xD
Knowing the backstory of this event, makes this, simply, one of the greatest game trailers ever created. Full of raw emotion and intensity. Literally brings chills and tears to my eyes. Amazing.
@@abhishek3667 i believe the one-eyed zealot was a high general under artanis, he volunteered to be the spear of adun (or sth..) which means the first army to the retaking of aiur
Aren't the Zerg on Aiur feral now? With the overmind dead, Kerrigan never claimed them and far as we know there wasn't a brood mother controlling them so aren't they just mindless beasts?
dat one eye zealot at the end just like "on this day, our king Leonidas showed them fear with 300 soldier, but now what they are seeing is 10000 Zealots"
+LolyourDead100 They are definitely a smaller population than terrans and CERTAINLY a smaller population than the zerg, but they are not close to few in numbers at this point. Think about one of the teasers, where thousands of protoss waited on ONE mothership (I'm well aware that mothership is the leading one and is known as the Shield of Aiur, but still). And how many more motherships would they have brought to take Aiur back. 10? 20? Hundreds? Thousands? And also think about how massive the Golden Armada (the fleet that is invading Aiur to reclaim it) is. Not only does it consist of several years' worth of gathering protoss, but it also consists of the most powerful protoss in their race. Proof of this is in HoTS, where on Kaldir Kerrigan refuses to let the Protoss warn the Golden Armada of Kerrigan's attack, even after she conquered both Char and Zerus, and even reclaimed her title as the Queen of Blades. This shows that the Golden Armada could easily wipe out the Zerg, given that they wanted to. And, back to my original point, Think about how many Protoss are in ALL the other factions. The one shown here is only one faction. Overall, the Protoss are in the billions, most likely, with their numbers. 10,000 zealots is probably what they eventually warped onto the planet, if not more.
Not surprised to see others in the comments agreeing that this trailer is still the GOAT. Exactly the right amount of visual storytelling, drama, and fan service... and it all looks amazing, too.
***** You know, sometimes, leaving things open to our imagination is OK. We don't know what happened to the Probe either. That's OK!! You're thinking about it, and brainstorming, and excited; Blizzard has accomplished their goal :)
If I were any of those zealots heck yeah I would protect the lil probe. When the dude can spawn pylons that can teleport an entire army he is kinda important.
2:37 I love how his motions tell "Oh, you're so screwed now". No face, one eye, yet you can clearly see what he's thinking. That's some awesome animation right there.
God, I LOVE the way he puts on that additional burst of speed at the end when he's charging into battle. It's like his spirits were lifted now that the warp was completed and now he's giving it everything that he's got.
+Ben Miller Guys I was making a dumb in-game joke. Just kidding. But I appreciate the love of the lore, keep starcraft alive brothers. Always wish the gameplay was closer to the lore...its' so much bigger.
I'm sure a mothership is considered a floating city. If so, you can build all the pylons you need in there. Then again, they ARE setting up a base, and most likely a colony after that. HYPE!!!
@@KallahMari In the age of woke filth and fan hating sjw controlled writer rooms! ahahahahah! Peekard, Halo, Disney nu wars and everything else in the west----its all ogre now!
+JohninMinecraft don't be. he got teleported out. the reason why protoss vanish in a blue smoke is because they get warped out when armor or flesh takes too much damage.
+Not Visible Honestly I wouldnt want them to do one, 90% of videogame movies tend to suck, and one such as this, that would rely so heavily on CGI, would costs millions and turn out badly either way
2kaioken Well the warcraft movie looks good and seem to have a lot of positive response, which would mean they would make good profit, which also means a higher chance of them making another movie. Not only that, but the warcraft movie already had over 100 million dollar budget.

+BULLET GAMING They better stop making online games and start a new corporate career with movies.
+Özgür Bulut Karaosmanoğlu yep! XD
+Teawithgrief
Quoted for truth, sadly.
+BULLET GAMING maaan and they say warcraft movie is gonna be even better but i dont think it can get better than this
+mahatma ghandi saw a preview at last years blizzcon, it does
I get goosebumps everytime I watch this. And I think I've watched this a couple of hundred times so far.
Do you like this one, or the HOTS cinematic best? I thought both were stellar
Same, I'd rank them close to each other. Wings of liberty kind of falls behind when compared to these two however.
Tahmid Islam Yeah no kidding! I forgot WOL even had one haha
I just watched this cinematic all over again since you commented and goosebumps EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Why doesn't blizzard make a movie about this? I'd give EVERYTHING!
Tahmid Islam It would be better than the Warcraft movie! More epic
So, three zealots and an Archon managed to kill... three banelings, five hydras, approximately thirty zerglings and a freaking Ultralisk. That is one efficient army right there.
good micro! also, don't forget the moral support of the probe!
They are akhundelar.
Also it's not just some PvZ, it's the retaking of Aiur :3
Bdor24 must.....nerf....protoss
The High Templars used all the available energy in storms before merging into an archon... but yeah.
Bdor24 they got 3/3
You know how something so good just makes you cry?
me too lol
I love how a Blizzard executive just sat down and said to everyone around him, "You see that probe that made the pylon? Let's make a hero out of that."
I'd rather hear the heroic story of the Pylon...let's call him...Pylo.
"For we are bound by F2 + A (select all army and attack)... The sacred union of our every thought and emotion..."
Dark Archons: We gonna just be stuck on each other and Block eachother paths.
@@jarskil8862 Good thing they didn't merge any then :)
Not true! Sometimes we push "T"
Those hotkeys from sc1 or sc2?
@@carlos.5290 F2 only exist in SC2 since you can only select 12 in the first game
POWER OVERWHELMING!!
Gets me every time.. *sheds manly tears*
Damocles Vitallion how Ironic that if you type that in game starcraft 1 you will be invincible.
*Loading EMP rounds*
Yeah man, no jokin, manly tears.
same here
I still have not figured out why that one scene in this cinematic prompts such an emotional response from me as well.
Here in 2024. Still haven't seen any better opening cinematics than this.
WHY IS THERE NOT A STARCRAFT MOVIE YET?!?!?
+Gerald Weiner Because they love Warcraft more T.T
+LolyourDead100 I hafe think they are working on the starcraft mmo :D
+frost fire Oh dear gods, no. Please.
+LolyourDead100 U_U
+frost fire No they're not.
Blizzard should make an independent studio for CGI movies, and put Pixar to shame
+zodiac909 This is pretty mediocre as far as CGI goes.
+Ferrohazard are you friggin kidding me?
+Gabriel Lainesse (GLayne) Well, he isn't wrong. For a Movie Company this is around average CGI. For a games company it is the best in the business.
It just turned 2020 and I'm here to watch this again!!! MY LIFE FOR AIUR!!!
“I got yer Zerg raht heer!” Marine on the Amerigo
For Aiur!
Same !
En Taro Artanis brother.
Qas ar'ashal!
LotV Opening: "The Khala is awesome, its our greatest strength and with it the enemy will never break us"
LotV minutes after the opening: "Oh god the Khala is ruining everything!"
underrated comment lol
The storyline in this game is one of the worst in history This cinematic was false advertising.
Lol
2:50 cuts to Artanis on a carrier spamming "Z" like mad.
Shift+Z then spam the mouse
Also this is what happens when you got a dozen warp gates and tons of mineral but no gas
At least they’ve got charge tech
30 gates charge lot archon inc
Noob Artanis, he needs to use Rapid Fire
Captain Goomba no, he need to use Solar Lance, then if some Ultralisks appeared use Shield overcharged and then Time Stop if neccessary
I find the most amazing part the Zealot that has done his job in the end, protected the pylon and looked exhausted or injured getting back up. And yet when the other Zealots arrive he charges from the back and forms the spearhead again.
*"I am Akhundelar; the tip of the spear."* - Kaldalis the one-eyed Zealot.
This is the true Protoss Spirit!
hence the name - Zealot
Spirit: Unconquered
Loyalty is its own reward
the question is HOW CAN PEOPLE DISLIKE THIS
+lichmaster kirlin also so that is how sc looks irl
bots?
+lichmaster kirlin haters be like SC Brood war is still the best so no matter what we see....just pressing "dislike" zz (even they didn't play SC:Brood war)
+lichmaster kirlin Zerg players
+lichmaster kirlin zergs hate everything, u know cause protoss to busy being epic pressing LIKE and terrans to busy whining cause well thats what terrans do isnt it ? xD
Archon merging and to say "Power Overhelming" was the greatest moment in SC cinematic history.
finally found the most op unit in the game

the probe
+Ceazar Arroyo a mothership can teleport pylons, I think
+Ceazar Arroyo probe may have wiped gg
+Ceazar Arroyo what happened to that probe anyway?

Almost 2023, just checking in - who still comes here to watch this masterpiece?
Neary there! This is all that keeps me sane now.
Definitely ME! this is truly masterpiece cause is many things around that, which give me amazing vibes!
yep, amazing cinematic
Popped into my mind this morning, decided to check it out along with Reclamation
Good old days
Knowing the backstory of this event, makes this, simply, one of the greatest game trailers ever created. Full of raw emotion and intensity.
Literally brings chills and tears to my eyes. Amazing.
Yes man, this video makes me so emotional. Just awesome. ❤
Accidentally know that the whole starcraft universe is a rippoff ,really broke my heart.
Can you share link to backstory would love to read it.
YES, AMEN.
@@abhishek3667 i believe the one-eyed zealot was a high general under artanis, he volunteered to be the spear of adun (or sth..) which means the first army to the retaking of aiur
That pylon took way longer than 25 sec to warp in. Look into this bug please, Blizzard
+Nicholas Pinkerton I would say don't report, unless you want to get a 25 sec opening cinematic :P
+Meng Cao (曹濛) i agree
+Nicholas Pinkerton but wat if 25 sec = 2.5 min?
(x files)
shade
+Nicholas Pinkerton Time is relative, what we see in game as 25 sec, are in reality 2.5 minutes, its not a but, is space-time relativity.
Noob zerg. Didnt destroy the pylon first
They weren't on point with their baneling micro. Three banelings stopped by a single zealot.
+Rei Ogami they tried dude.
Aren't the Zerg on Aiur feral now? With the overmind dead, Kerrigan never claimed them and far as we know there wasn't a brood mother controlling them so aren't they just mindless beasts?
+Nitto 559 yep, they're feral.
+Seigi „No“ Tenshi spoiler allert, Amon was reborn on Aiur, so they arent feral
Till date, this clip gives me more chills and emotions than any of the MCU movies.
I've waited 15 years to finally see a cinematic of the Protoss like this!!
dat one eye zealot at the end just like "on this day, our king Leonidas showed them fear with 300 soldier, but now what they are seeing is 10000 Zealots"
lol, nice
+Le tuan linh Haha I wish 10k zealots would appear, but what they showed is a realistic proportion for the Protoss since they are few in numbers T.T
+limzykenneth FOORRR AAUIIERRRRRR!!!
+TEMPST XenoRage you mean... My life for aiur !... Not auier
That zealot taking those three banelings like a champ....glorious.
He should have survived with 20 health (Y'know. Zealots have 100 shields and 50 health. The banelings do about 40 damage...)
zergs had the upgrades probably
What about the damage of the explosion with the first baneling? That counts too :)
+OhHoiThere he fought a couple of zergling before, not at max health
Dante Trevisan The word fear is unknow to them
Not surprised to see others in the comments agreeing that this trailer is still the GOAT. Exactly the right amount of visual storytelling, drama, and fan service... and it all looks amazing, too.
yep, the team behind the cinematics did an outstanding job
When the probe started making the pylon it looked at the warping like
"I made dis"
Haha! Also that Zealot at 1:06 looking at the Probe going "Anyday now, man! We ain't got all day...."
***** You know, sometimes, leaving things open to our imagination is OK. We don't know what happened to the Probe either. That's OK!! You're thinking about it, and brainstorming, and excited; Blizzard has accomplished their goal :)
Oh he's obviously the only cowardly protoss, hes definitely hiding behind the rubble behind the 2 templars at 1:43.
+Luke Ribbons Probably, I mean what is the drone going to attack with? Attack of his Tickle Cannon.
If I were any of those zealots heck yeah I would protect the lil probe. When the dude can spawn pylons that can teleport an entire army he is kinda important.
I KEEP THROWING MONEY AT THE SCREEN BUT NOTHING HAPPENS
+Christian Alfaro :D hahahaha
+Christian Alfaro omg so true hahaha
+Christian Alfaro the Money taker is being DDOsed, it'll open in november,
+Christian Alfaro You need to throw with both arms.
+Raynor9899 Me: Just shut up and take my money
2:37 I love how his motions tell "Oh, you're so screwed now". No face, one eye, yet you can clearly see what he's thinking. That's some awesome animation right there.
This is one of the greatest cinematic gaming scenes of all time.
Ah, the 300 gate proxy pylon all in
That's what I've been doing wrong
wkcia Terran needs to learn from the best when it comes to proxy racks.
Just Canon rush
pretty good against mass ling
The Protoss probably had plus 3
Don't worry in real life it'd have taken them three years to warp in.
Somebody didn't have enough gas all I see is zealots warping in. You think they were floating mins?
1 flying unit and they are screwed
+Weeaboo Loli Master i know right
Not really. There're still High Templar there.
Sorry I'm Late unless they have energy the high templars can't attack them, unless they go POWER OVERWHELMING
Storms. Storms everywhere
God, I LOVE the way he puts on that additional burst of speed at the end when he's charging into battle. It's like his spirits were lifted now that the warp was completed and now he's giving it everything that he's got.
Zealot charge upgrade finally dropped
His charge upgrade completed just in time
Zealot Nikes Upgrade
It's 2024 and this still gave me the most epic chills. POWER OVERWHELMING!!
"today we retake our homeworld and with it our legacy" - omg that voice and intonation...great and epic. best game cinematic ever!
No overseers in sight...should've sent dark templar.
+Trevor Jones khalai aren't the nerazim
+darksidelead But Artanis united the Nerazim and the Khalai. He wants/wanted all Protoss to be united.
and the tensions grew again after brood war. Hence the whole idea about different protoss factions uniting in this game...
+Ben Miller Guys I was making a dumb in-game joke. Just kidding. But I appreciate the love of the lore, keep starcraft alive brothers. Always wish the gameplay was closer to the lore...its' so much bigger.
If you see closer, when they warp in there are dark templars lol
The meaning of this Cinematic is clear.
YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS!
+solo manolin I get the joke, but no. It's the first step in retaking Aiur.
+solo manolin i thought the same thing the needed about 10 pylons for that lot lol!!!
I'm sure a mothership is considered a floating city. If so, you can build all the pylons you need in there. Then again, they ARE setting up a base, and most likely a colony after that. HYPE!!!
+solo manolin lmao~~
+KeViNZP But I was wondering why didnt they use a warp prism to summon reinforcements while they warp in a pylon
XXDXDXDXDXDXD
Hands down the BEST opening for StarCraft, so simple so EPIC
*Best...Trailer...EVER!*
PS: You guys should definitely make a movie!
right? how has this not been done

POWER OVERWHELMING!
Seriously Blizzard needs to make a Starcraft movie.
+tony yaj Warcraft one is coming first lol
+Fel Master Soon :D! One can wish
+Not Visible Honestly I wouldnt want them to do one, 90% of videogame movies tend to suck, and one such as this, that would rely so heavily on CGI, would costs millions and turn out badly either way
+tony yaj Me neither. It is just the stories writen by Blizzard are not very good. Those work for games, but movies need something more.
2kaioken Well the warcraft movie looks good and seem to have a lot of positive response, which would mean they would make good profit, which also means a higher chance of them making another movie. Not only that, but the warcraft movie already had over 100 million dollar budget.
