Oh my, 24 inch Mac was a beast back in 2007. I still have 20 inch 2007 Mac somewhere. Still works, with SSD upgrade. Not sure I could use if for anything meaningful, but for the most part - great machine :)
I was just given one of these for free and its super clean. Looks brand new. Only problem is it won’t turn on :( I’m going to be opening it up soon to see what the problem may be. Hopefully it’s something simple like ram or the power supply.
What an Amazing Price! I bought a 128 gig iPad Air 2 in great condition, with a Smart Cover and Charger for only $170 a couple days ago and I’m loving it so far (I desperately needed an upgrade from my iPad 4 because my first year of high school and to edit my videos)
I've just gotta get one of these. I'd love to dual boot Snow Leopard and Windows XP on one, it's got good enough specs for early 2000's gaming too. KOTOR would run comfortably on one.
My mom got a 2008 imac 24in it came with Adobe software and final cut and other apple software on it cause she's a graphic designer and it has a 2tb hard drive and 4 gb of ram and even with the hard drive it still works great
@@BooseJuice - DDR3 is just the next gen DDR2... less power usage and 8 or so times the buss speed. They are the same configuration and pin counts as DDR2, just better.
I need to ask a got the same imac mid 2007 i want ssd in to it but i heard about something about tempature sensor? Does it apply for this model or only the newer ones?
i got a 20" for under 40 bucks and seems to still have the old os but cant seem to get it to boot to the os x cd or to a USB what gives? using a windows keyboard...
Overall do you think this is good for minecraft pvp on servers with like a pvp texture pack? I really want a desktop that can do that should I get this if it's good for that stuff?
I know I am late, but I don’t think it’s a powerful machine, since it’s 13 years old, but I believe you can run minecraft without the texture pack, but if you want it, you might as well lower the settings.
I have this iMac sadly programs like Spotify don’t work on this. It’s a great computer to just go on Facebook or UA-cam. It has amazing sound. I use programs like photoshop and Lightroom but sadly do not work on this computer so I found photopea a free online version of a program like photoshop.
Excellent video and review of this 2007, 24-inch iMac (with the cool all black design). While, I prefer and own in my collection the white 2006, Intel 24-inch iMac (which, also says the same ports including a Fire-wire 800 port and a Fire-wire 400 port). Because of its none Dual-Core processor, I keep mine on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard which, works great for my needs. Some ask so, what do you use this computer for? With Rosetta, I am able to run all of my older OS X Power PC software (Apple Works, Via Voice, etc.); and older Apple programs such as iLife '09, iWorks '09, Aperture, and Front Row; plus I am able to watch and record over the air movies and TV shows using Elgato's EyeTV 500 system. Question, have you had a chance yet, to pick up a matching apple remote control?
I also have iMac 2006, unfortunately it can only go up to Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).. which is very obsolete and can't run any modern web browsers (even third-party ones )... alas.
I have early 2008 iMac I bought used in my city I installed windows 7 I use it to install older games seens I do own early 2010 mac mini I bought few months ago as used in my city
I've just put 1 away which cost £50 its only for basic things for me, its got el capitan on it, says 2gb ddr2 memory, Microsoft Office and adobe photoshop, logic pro x and garage band, intel core 2 duo 2.0Ghz, final cut pro, 250gb harddrive, ATI radeon hd 2400 graphics card
Of course you can.The best thing you can do for this machine is to install el capitan(the latest version it supports) and replace the old mechanical drive with an ssd.....i did just that to my old imac that i had since 2007 and now not only it feels spiffy and very responsive to my day to day...youtube,browsing and the likes but i can also use it with more serious apps...i can play record and make music on it just fine. Now its used almost as frequent as my primary machine...do it and you ll get at least 5-6 more years out of this bad boy.
is it still worth using 13 years later? A: Hell yeah - with an SSD and Linux Mint. I "highly" recommend the Newertech Adapadrive caddy which made the installation of an SSD (I used Samsung Evo) a brilliantly simple task. Linux Mint looks and runs wonderfully and will continue to do so as long as the hardware doesn't give out.
256MB VRAM models can stream video just barely. It does buffer a little on start up of video but it is watchable. It will not stream 60 fps. Don't bother with the 128MB VRAM base model.
Thank you for 200 subscribers! More videos to come in the near future! Stay tuned...
This channel is super underrated. You deserve more subs

Linux is s/th very meaningful to use on such a machine.
I recommend either Linux Mint Debian Edition or WattOS.
