It's very touching listening to Mary Ann Mobley speak about Elvis. You can see how much she cared for him. She is probably one of the few people who really knew him.. As an actor who once had the pleasure of playing Elvis, I thank you Mary Ann, for being you..
watching those Elvis movies, I believe Elvis is naturally a good and versatile actor. and his acting was a combination of drama, action, and comedy, and his movies are still interesting and entertaining even to the present.
I have no idea what some of these leading ladies are talking about, Elvis was an amazing actor, I guess they never watched his early movies such as King Creole...Wild in the Country...Loving You...Jailhouse Rock...if some of the other movies were nothing great it had nothing to do with acting....he was a great actor!!! p.s. funny how the same two actresses have negative comments about Elvis I wonder why???
I have to disagree! He was totally controlled by the Colonel, but he didn't recogniced! For example: a leading role in "The West Side Story " was offered to him, but Parker declined. Elvis found out much later! He was controlled by the crowd ( fans sounds better ). And he was totally controlled by the drugs about the last 17 years of his life! Don't get me wrong, i'm a huge fan my whole life, but we have to face the reality!
@Saphire Blue If someone is crazy here, it's not me! You are totally obsessed! You know which role would have been good for him and which not? Priscilla is responsible for Elvis' drug abuse? Go find a hobby!!!
Elvis was brought up to respect his elders and anyone basically respected Parker and trusted he would do right for him , he saw that before Parker he had nothing , and back then it was only he , bill black & scotty moore , and no sign of work , and parker had got him to where he was, he saw the work coming in and was earning thousands , and if he sacked him he thought he would go back to nothing Elvis was enjoying the money and that he was singing to crowds something that he loved , and the money he need for his promise to his parents , that he would buy them a home so they wouldn't have to struggle anymore. Parker told Elvis he would make him big and Elvis believed him .
Sorry, but in the first movies he made ( Loving You, Jailhouse Rock, King Creole, Wild in the Country, Flaming Star), he played good roles. I really enjoyed them (I've been watching them during quarantine and I was really surprised). I could see he had acting chops. Why do they dismiss all his movies? I disagree with that.
Nancy & Mary Ann Mobley were so nice and didn’t say a bad thing about him. But Stella seems bitter & acts like she didn’t like him bat all. I’m thinking he probably didn’t like her much & maybe that was the problem.

Elvis was his own man, he was not controlled by anyone. Stella Stevens and Sue Ann Langdon worked with Elvis, but they did not know Elvis at all.
