I knew a guy who was in the army with Elvis and he said everyone liked Elvis. He was a good guy and not conceited at all. He also said a couple of jealous guys picked a fight with him and Elvis knocked them both on their ass and no one ever tested Elvis after that.
Elvis was the Man! To bad there wasn't footage of him doing this!
Love Bill Medley talking about Elvis as a human being not a pay check, wish they had done unchained Melody together ,that would have been FANTASTIC
People were decent way back like Elvis and Bill Medley.
Changed days indeed whereas today, you don't need talent, just be as suggestive as possible.
@@someoneelse.2252 That´s it, it is exactly as you put it.
@@someoneelse.2252 Compared to what's around today, Elvis wasn't obscene. I don't think so, anyway. But then, I'm a child of the 70s, and while there was still some censorship going on (the "f-word" being bleeped out of some movies and never used on TV shows), people were pretty much shock-proof.
Nostalgia is a seductive liar.
Back in June 1971, Bill performed at my high school's all night grad party. It happened to be opening night at Magic Mountain in Valencia California. My date back then is my wife today. We got married in 1975. We have two sons and four grandchildren.
Wow, what a gracious and respectful tribute to his friend Elvis. Very humble coming from a man that was an enormous performer in his own right.
Wow!! What an unbelievable memory for Bill! That must have been one of those he held close to his heart. Such a class act Mr. Medley.
the absolute best duo in the history of music, bar none.
That was a great story..he was so kind and complimentary of Elvis..such a wonderful friend to have 🌹
" Elvis would never humiliate, or embarrass anyone!" He had a good innocent sense of humor, & the great Bill Medley just proved it!"
This is hilarious, wish I’d been there to witness it. I was a junior in high school in ‘68, so I grew up listening to Elvis. Bill Medley’s story isn’t really about himself, it’s all about Elvis. After all, it has always been about Elvis.
People don't get how big Elvis was, biggest superstar ever by far!
And it didn't do him a bit of good. Often lonely and dead at 42.
Just because people don't get how big he was doesn't mean he was the biggest, but the fact that the only superstar anyone ever compares him to is Michael Jackson says plenty.
@@realplayer54 Elvis was 1000 times better than that overrated pedophile.
Elvis? Meh. Now we are all about Bieber and Gaga.
@@realplayer54 Elvis is much bigger than MJ. No comparison. People are now already forgetting about MJ.
Lovely to hear about their friendship. Bill, love your music! Thank you for the story.
He's not only a great singer, he's also a great story teller!
Bobby Hatfield was unbelievable. Between the two of them........best duo ever, IMHO.
Bill Medley was a really good friend to ElVIS
He has the best memories of ELVIS. Can only imagine if they did a private duet, what
If..... ?!
lovely story... beautifully told
Hate to sound like a troll, but there's nothing special about the way he told that story.
@@realplayer54 it’s who he’s telling about.
It' s nice to hear someone talk about Elvis in a kind way. Bill knew Elvis. But he knew the person. That' s the difference.
ah, not too many spoke of Elvis in any other way but kind. Everyone who knew him said he was a lovely, generous, funny, loving man.
I love these stories Bill tells about Elvis. Bill was a beautiful soul.
I just listened to a really famous singer talked about another really famous singer in a very humble manner. 👍🏼
Elvis was like no other - had it all - homespun - great voice - beautiful looking- great dancer - sex appeal - and had a real pious side - he knew all the religious songs - he was down to earth - no wonder he went out like a light bulb - he burned too bright and it's a pity who didn't really check out for a few years and decompress . Oh well - meteor !
If only the politicians and religious could behave in that type of manner.
Please YOUNG People. Understand This.....
These Men Were From an Era Where You ALWAYS Treated People With.........
R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
Elvis was such a nice guy. All the screaming woman before he went on must have been terrifying 😳. Lordie !!! Can't imagine .Love hearing stories about him
Elvis was really awesome!! Once in a lifetime type of guy!!!
Just another example of Elvis's brilliance.
Yes, he suddenly realised who Elvis Presley was, because he was chatting to him as a friend, then standing in the wings with the music and the screaming, he realised thats Elvis Presley, megastar, idol, loved by millions.
Tom Jones and George Harrison had the same disbelief when they met him, my god thats Elvis Presley.
I'd have fainted as would hundreds of millions of others.
LONG LIVE THE KING ❤
Worshiping a human is a fatal misadventure.
@@davidb2206absolutely correct! Elvis was a man who loved “head!”😂 He wasn’t a saint,he was a human being!….just like you & me!
Elvis you will always be the BEST OF EVERYTHING YOU DID IN YOUR LIFE, LOVE YOU
It's been said that before anyone did anything, Elvis did everything.
Everyone was in awe of Elvis.
I wasn't. He didn't even write songs. Lennon and McCartney are two to be in awe of.
@@davidb2206 you know what Lennon and McCartney were also awe struck around Elvis.
Elvis may not have written songs, but he sang every word of them with such feeling and passion.
@@davidb2206
ELVIS DIDN'T HAVE TO WRITE SONGS, PEOPLE WROTE THEM FOR HIM!
@@naomiwarner7117 Try it and you'll be in awe of the talent needed to compose, play, and then sing songs.
Bill and elvis were part of a brotherhood of good guys
Medley really makes you feel like Elvis was a good guy. There are no stories of Elvis being mean to anyone. I think he was just a pure, loving southern gentleman with an innocent soul that got messed around by a cheat, thug and scoundrel named Col. Parker. Medley was a powerful force in music and still is. The two of them were friends and I bet Elvis had few real friends like Bill Medley.
Great story, only Elvis could cause such a delightful fuss. God bless his dear heart!!!
I love Bill Medley! 💯❣
Two great legends..ELVIS AND BILL MEDLEY...you look wonderful😍
Wonderful stories! Mr. Medley seems like a really great guy!
Life was better with Elvis in the world
Great anecdotes from Bill Medley--shows the difference between the public image of Elvis: the Mega-Star-Entertainer, and the private image of Elvis: the guy who loved a low-key, practical joke (walking onstage as Medley sings 'Loving Feeling.')
That is one of the funny stories in Bill's book
I never knew Elvis buddied up with Bill. This is a great story.
Love the story. Elvis was so kind and generous. R.I.P..
That's not what Priscilla said.
How cool is that..?a Legend..talking about the biggest Legend..
This is a great set of stories from a legend about another legend that further confirms the legendary status of both legends.
Medley should write a BOOK about this stuff !!!
He did. "The time of my life"
Bill Medley is a super class act. Truly a righteous guy!!
He’s a real gentleman and entertainer! Thanks for that story!
Wow..very fascinating story. Bill is a Legend himself.
Love this. Never knew they knew each other. Love them both. Best voices ever!!!
I miss Elvis. Bill Medley is a really good guy, and perhaps one of the greatest baritone/tenors of pop music ever!
Always loved Bill Medley. One of the greatest voices ever...and with Bobby Hatfield no one could beat them.
An Oasis Can : They were good but couldn’t top The voices of The Righteous Brothers !!!!
@@roseblake5803 You are so right. I love The Everly Bros but they don't have the range and the soul of TRB
@An Oasis Can I liked them too; but they can't come close to Bobby and Bill they are the best male duo ever.
I saw The Righteous Brother's in the 70's, Bill and Bobby were the best!!!!
That was very Gracious of Mr Meledy,
Cool insight. There was Elvis - and then there was "Elvis".
Bill's voice was awesome and paired beautifully with Bobby's. We will never lose that lovin' feeling.
Wow great stories about Elvis, especially the way he explained the charismatic presence of Elvis as he walked on stage. They'll never be another like Elvis Presley
What an amazing story! Thank you so much for sharing! Back then there was so much true talent! I grew up with and love both, the Righteous Brothers and Elvis Presley. This was just the perfect story to hear to make my day!! ❤🥰🙏🙏🙏😊 God bless you Bill!
Yes...elvis is king...but Bill singing Soul Inspiration is THE MAN!!!
Really great stories of elvis, told by Bill medley. He sounds like he's a very nice guy and has a good sense of humor. Great stories!
The Righteous Brothers sang such powerfull music.
My dad would have agreed with that.
Nobody then and now can match Bill and Bobby!!!!!
A bunch of legends ))
I saw this guy last year in Vegas. The show was flawless, he hasn't slowed down a bit.
Beautiful story, and tribute to our beloved Elvis! 🤍
what a great story
I get goosebumps every time i watch this video...blows me away ! thank you!
Elvis was amazing ,im thankful to have been around thru it all
This was great!! Thanks Bill Medley -- for the stories and for your outstanding music!
First time I've heard someone give some love to roy hamilton, a great forgotten vocalist. I had read that Elvis took after him.
Priceless memories! I am so glad great entertainers, like Bill are willing to share memories, like this.
Great story of Elvis. Can you imagine having one on one with Elvis 40 times?
Bill Medley has a one of a kind beautiful voice........Love stories of the KING.....
Great story. Thank you Bill Medley!!
Great story. a great storyteller, a great singer, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Thanks for sharing Mr. Medley.
Bought the elvis bobble head in vegas last week, best 38 bucks i ever spent
What a lovely story. Amazing how everyone says how nice Elvis was .
Love Bill Medley. Loved Elvis. Love hearing these personal stories. Thank you, Bill!!
LOVE IT XXXXXXX EP THE GREATEST ALWAYS... Great stories about the king xxxxx
Wonderful stories. Elvis = magic
What a great story . I could listen to these tales all day .
Thank God for Elvis. Elvis used to say, "I'm not the King. Jesus Christ is the King." What class.
Elvis was just being honest because it was true.
@@camcam8386 The King of Kings and Lord of Lords The Alpha and Omega The Beginning and The End.
Thank you Jesus !
That's not class, that's a fact.
It was reporter ( by former band members ) he use to play around with dark forces . He wanted to sing gospel but that's not where the.money was . Great voice, great talent.
Amen!
It was really nice listening to his stories about Elvis. Thank you for this video. It made me feel good.
Wow, what a great guy, seriously he could have gone on for hours, would have listened
Great great stories forever saved now for generations to hear. Thank you Mr. Medley.
What great stories about "The King"!
I've listened to this 3 times now over the last couple years, just some really cool insight on a real personal level.
What a lovely man. I never really had any like or dislike for The Righteous Bros, I liked a couple of their songs {Latin Lupe Lou is a great song}, but thought that anything Elvis covered he did better than anyone else......but watching this I see what a very nice man Bill Medley is. No wonder Elvis had affection for him. And I'm now a fan.
Wonderful stories, well told, from a great talent and a humble soul.
B.Medley is a great artist & a classy gentleman
Respect to Bill Medley and the mighty Righteous Bros. My favorite song of theirs is Ebb Tide. Thanks to Bill for these series of personal stories.
I was just playing Ebb Tide. That's what brought me to this video clip.
# 1 Ebb Tide - the R.B really belted that out. #2 Little Latin Lupe Lu
"Unchained Melody" was my dad's favourite Righteous Brothers song (we played it at his funeral), followed closely by "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Elvis recorded versions of both, but much as my dad loved Elvis, he insisted that the best version of "Unchained Melody" was the one by the Righteous Brothers.
Thanks Bill.
Because Elvis was a regular guy, that made him so special, man he was special, miss him just being on earth, once in a lifetime elvis Presley American made baby, RIP brother 🤘
Bill, I could listen to you talk all day. I'll bet you have a ton of great stories. Love ya.
Fantastic memories
Great SOBER interview!
This voice!
I love the stunt that elvis pulled on Bill by walking across the stage.
Class, class, class!
Love you Bill! Thank you for all the good times and stories you told us about Elvis and many others. One of the kindest most humble man I have ever known.
Nice story!
I absolutely adore this man and this story!!
I love to hear the stories about Elvis the man from the people who knew him.I recently saw a picture of him relaxing on the beach in Hawaii. This picture was taken 5 months before he passed away.He is sitting on a blanket with friends and he is wearing a hat and you know I love that picture of him. He's relaxed, wearing a t shirt, tennis shoes and this canvas hat with a rim around it.He was laughing and enjoying himself. .
The locals in Hawaii have nothing but praise for Elvis.
You're right. A real treasure. ua-cam.com/video/ffIOMAkTupc/v-deo.html
His last vac to Hawaii, March 1977.
ELVIS and GINGER. + 30 other ppl he paid
all expenses for the trip.
Thanks, Bill Medley, for this lovely insight revealing the kindness, the humor, the
humility and sweet generosity not of the legend, but of a man named Elvis Presley.
Not a fan ? Watch this and perhaps you'll understand why we love him so much !!
I have always loved Elvis and The Righteous Brothers
fantastic insight, love these stories, very funny also, great for all of us who didn't see him live
My Mother AlSo Likes And Loves The Righteous Brothers And Elvis Presley 2
What great compliments from bill to Elvis, really great video
Gee Bill I didn't know you like to talk, I aways thought you were kind of quiet. Thanks for sharing this story about Elvis.
Bill is a natural born raconteur and storyteller. And a hell of a singer.
Patricia Labbe you not kidding about his singing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️The Righteous Brothers music gave me some of best memories of my teenage life.
@@musicmythang And of the almost 700 artists who performed "Unchained Melody" (including Elvis himself), no one performed that song better than Bobby Hatfield did during a 1965 appearance on the Andy Williams Show. Before my time, but that performance still blows people away today. It was/is THAT good.
@@mikes3827 I agree with you❤️
So happy to have heard this story..
I happened to be standing at the gates with a couple of people when Elvis’s limousine pulls up , I said hi and he looked at me and said Howdy 1970
The limo story is GREAT! He loved to drive, he was a true gearhead.
BEAUTIFUL STORY,I LOVED IT. SO GENUINE.
These memories are so precious and similar stories are recounted by many of Elvis's friends. What a mixed group of friends he had in the entertainment industry and they all speak of him very highly. Fabulous.
Bill Medley is a great talent, humble guy but more important a truly nice guy.I've been fortunate to meet him several times after shows. You can tell he's speaking from the heart about Elvis and felt blessed to have known. He and Connie Stevens, who dated in the early 70's tried to get the"King" into substance rehab but couldn't get he away from his Memphis crew long enough.Bill had a vocal cord pop, with the Brothers in late'75 and had to stop singing for over 4 years.Hist 1st 2 solo LP's now on CD.
