  • Our church does setup and teardown every week since we are use a functional, historic movie theatre for our services. For larger services (like Easter) we try not to do anything too far out of our normal Sunday experience, but this year we did add a small worship choir on stage. This video is me handling a soundcheck like I do anytime I run sound. Come along for a little bit of our setup process and look over my shoulder as I get everything dialed in for the service.

    Would like to see how you route things to and from the stage/spaekrs and what's located in your rack. This will be helpful for mobile churches!

      That's a great idea. I have some videos for my group as a training tool, but I will see about putting something together that is more "public" worthy to share what we do and how it is all configured. I will share that we have run cables under the floor (through the ventilation tunnels) that allow us to have some connections in the floor under a seat that connect to our pre-mounted gear on stage.

    Two things:
    I would go to that church just for the beauty of the room.
    What's the setup for the RTA on the tablet on your top right around 12:37? Where and how do you pick that up?
    Thanks for your work and videos Dave!

      Yeah, the room is quite exquisite and will be going through a period-correct renovation in the next few years which will be pretty amazing to see once it is completed.
      The RTA on my iPad is just the DecibelX app that is a free download. I have used it for quite a while and it does a pretty good job for being free. We have a true decibel meter that I have tested it against and it's been good enough for me to keep using it on my phone and my iPad no matter where I go.

      Yeah, my guy has some vocals for sure. I’ll be sure to share your comment with him. 👍

    Curious why you turn compressor and EQ off? Wouldn't you want to set and hear everything as it would be live? Thanks!

      I always like to start with an accurate representation of what I am getting from the preamp and I can quickly evaluate the sounds that my channel strip are cleaning up. With my groups I don't usually need to spend a lot of time messing with the EQ and Comps since I have done that a bunch in the past to get my scene setup. As an example you will hear the female vocal have a bunch of midrange when I am setting gain and then (when they hit the chorus) I turn on the EQ and Comp and the vocal cleans up a bunch. I am listening to that quickly. You do see me make various EQ changes once the rehearsal starts and on the pastor's mic as well. Keep in mind that I cut out most of the 45 minute rehearsal that I was making small tweaks and changes.

    as far as I know, you don't need to turn off the processing (eq, compressor, locut) to see what input gain you get? or do you?

      You are correct that the channel strip has no impact on the input signal meter. I like the practice of doing this and it's just something I have stuck with over the years. Thanks for the comment and participation in the community.

    Question is it possible to add a effect to the effects library on a x32

    • @AllamHouse
      @AllamHouse  Рік тому

      No, the effects are pre-built into the console already. They have some great models in there depending on what you are looking for, but you are not able to add external plugins, into the console.
      That being said, you can connect to a DAW and use FX there as extra effects. This would run across USB so there is the potential for latency and the processing is dependent on your computer speed, but it does open up some additional options. This video here discusses how to set that up. ua-cam.com/video/Wv7WRl2K878/v-deo.html
      This video here talks about using outboard FX racks. ua-cam.com/video/SQuWNc4CXIs/v-deo.html
