Alternatively, you can select by color in gimp/krita/ps Convert selection to vector, export SVG. Import SVG into blender, convert curve to mesh, fill faces, extrude, export
In Blender 4.2 and newer they removed the image as planes addon so either drag and drop and your image in blender from windows explorer or press shift+a, select image then mesh plane. Drag and drop from windows explorer to blender is the easiest way. Update: I just realized that dragging and dropping your image from windows explorer to blender and selecting your image, the modifier tab wont become available. So doing shift+a, image, mesh image is the option for this tutorial
How to make a Logo in the most convoluted way possible. I'd say tracing the shape manually by hand is faster, more accurate to the actual shape (especially on diagonals) and conserves polygons. Only downside with tracing might be that it takes a little bit longer when the logo is complex. but then again, a complex logo would require much more subdivisions and a much more careful cleanup.
Hello! Nice video. Can you make a video on how to do the same thing but add different heights to the image. Example the emblem to a certain height and the S to an even higher level. By thickness, like the base would be 1 cm height and the S to a 1.5 cm height.
it is not working at all for me. I have zero change of surface after doing every single step. Any idea why ? my picture is the same, its a png, black and white, I did subdivide twice a lot. put in UV etc...
So i tried doing this but im running into the issue when i wanna unwrap the UV that all vertices get placed on the exact same spot. How can i fix that issue?
Thanks for sharing knowledge with us. I am learning blender and its really awesome. Thank you again.
I LEARNED SO MUCH GREAT JOB!

Good point! But by hand it will take time like you said

if i want to import the image as plane i got an error "Cannot generate materials for unknown BLENDER_EEVEE_NEXT render engine"
Omg wow!

Instead of offsetting mine have gone inward. What could be the reason?
Doesn’t work for blender 4.2.3
When i delete verticies it deletes the whole logo?
same
Definitely, it's way too much work for something that should be super simple. I think this is one of those cases where an add-on is justified.
Great thought! An addon can automate all those steps with a few clicks
Alt F is to fill
This now work dont good
doesn't work
Came here to say the same shit. 😂
Came here to say the same thing lol. There is no “import images as plane” on my blender version.
