That’s pretty douchey of those people not saying anything. Not what the off road community is about. It’s about looking out for eachother On a positive note. You had some amazing driving skills to save that. You slid back soo far.
George is so chill and laid back,he didn’t make it a big deal that the other group of idiots didn’t warn him of the ice and possible dangers. That is NOT what the overlanding crowd would do.They would have your back, because we’re all in this together. An accident or injury could get the trails closed down-which is bad for everyone.Be a good steward to the cause, and it pays it forward.
Maybe they were just less experienced and wanted to see what other people were going to do. I could see myself doing that as a beginner off roader especially in snow.
That was honestly pretty bad from them not to let you know about that. I go off road a lot in my Toyota pickup 88 and i always appreciate people warn me about upcoming things in the trial. Glad you handle it perfect
That's why you stay away from lytle Creek when the snow is 2 days old. It becomes a big icy shit show. Not including all the cars vans and 2wd truck causing more issues than not.
Up here in Canada where I wheel everyone looks out for each other in the backcountry. Folks coming down from the mountain will give you a heads up on what you may encounter. Those guys are dirt bags and bad news. Good job on your buddy for reading the environment
Headed out to the backroads of big bear and ended up getting stuck over night. Snow was too deep even with 295/70’s. Great learning experience though lol
I absolutely loved this so much. Being from so cal I want to do this so bad. That group that watched you guys knowing the dangers was pure evil. I’ve never been off road but have slowly been buying gear for my tundra and want to get into it to relax more and enjoy the outdoors because I’m fighting my way back from being disabled. I hope there’s more good people out there with a kind heart and not watch someone walk into danger like that. I’ve been in ems my whole life. There’s no way I could knowingly watch someone do something dangerous and not say anything. That’s just me though.
I just got a 22 4x4 off road in army green im in norcal. Can't wait to go snow wheeling. My coworkers go up to Tahoe. Makes me wanna lift and tires already.
Snow was pretty bad in Nevada City, CA Christmas weekend. Took my overland van out in the snow 👍 Lots of jeeps were turning around probably never been in the snow 🤣
MT tires are the worstin the snow and Ice for sure. That’s why a lot of people who live in cold snowy areas with 4 seasons like the northeast and Colorado and places like that mostly use AT’s like Falken wildpeaks or ko2’s.
@@andyham6094 +1 for the KO2s in the snow - many seasons on 2018 4Runner and now 2022 Taco - handle as best as can be expected in snow/icy conditions - only better tire option would be studded
That gate trail leads to the upper campground you didn't make on this trip. It's supposed to be closed but looks like some thought it's good idea to cut the locks and leave it open. It's also closed since the trail is gone. Due to land slides. This used to connect to Mt.Baldy not wrightwood. Many years ago.
its very cool vid George and you did a great job .......... my Ranger is locked from and rear with MTs ............ it eats snowy climbs fast than most people can eat a "snow cone" ............ your content is super impressive ............. "Tacos" are amazing !!!!!
One thing I learned just 2 days ago is I will never take my AT tires in the snow again regardless that they are severe snow rated, why? Because AT tires just suck when things start getting icy. Last year at this time my wife and I were road tripping from California through Idaho, Montana and Wyoming and never an issue when things got sketchy on dirt roads and regular roads with dedicated winter tires ( Bridgestone Blizzaks). No issues if one is just dealing with perfect powdery snow but that will eventually turn to ice. Once you experience how awesome dedicated snow tires perform in snow and ice you will not want to ever do a trip like this with AT tires guaranteed
I had to pause the video and say that's so messed up " we were just waiting to watch the show?" word?? dayum. thats lowkey shaddy wouldnt want those cats around me what so ever man. Im happy that you guys are good man Stay up!!!!
Mad snow in the El Dorado and Tahoe National Forrest near me right now. Winch and bumper getting installed in the morning and I am heading up hwy 50 this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration. Going to check out your links, if you have them, for the awning and fire pit.
We used to go up to Lytle creek, and then we would either take the fire road on the front of the mountain and come out in Cucamonga Canyon or we would the fire road to the back side of Is mount baldy ski resort, it was pretty hairy in the snow, this was in the 80's, so I don't know if you can still do, I live in the Ozarks now 😊👍
Hey man love the video! What is the fire pit you used at 6:49? Im really looking for a pit that wont rust in snow or rain for the winter; I hear the solo stoves rust. Thanks for any light you can shed on this one!
That’s pretty douchey of those people not saying anything.

I agree, it is what it is. Just glad i didn’t roll or hit anyone. It was still a blast! Thanks for watching dude!

One of the reason I’m starting a build is because of your channel. Love the energy and the vibes you put out there.
Pure ice slide! Nice job navigating down it!
Sometimes I forget that we’re so close to snow and fun here in So Cal. Thanks for the ride. Your awning is very cool.
Brokeback mountain vibes

Awesome video, enjoy how you keep it real. Great that you had someone with you and not solo. 👍👍
I can't even imagine driving on cold pavement with MT tires, let alone snow, and never on ice!

What about using chains/cables? Wouldn’t that help in those icy situations? Looked super fun!!

"ice that has frozen" haha, that was funny.
What trail is this again?! Btw love your content, thanks for the good videos!
So are you eventually going to find some deep snow to drive it?
Chains are very helpful in giving some bite on ice, especially if they have claws
Bro great video...my Mom worked at menudo Juanita's for over 30 years...😁

Thanks for making and posting these videos man!
Anytime man! Glad you enjoy them.
Great video as usual, George. It's good to see you guys enjoy some of that great California weather. :)
…”I’m looking more forward to the Menudo then the trail” 😂
I have that ARB deflator also. After airing down in freezing temps a couple times I’m considering getting automatic deflators.
Looks like this was Lytle Creek, 3N06A -- right? Didn't realize there was so much snow up there!
My kind of food menu menudo and chicken 🐔 cesadia!! I'm still breaking in my 2019 taco nice rigs!

No. The trail is completely gone. Due to landslides over time.
“That’s basically ice…that’s frozen”😭
Yeah man.
Cool area. As far as amber lights go they don't show ice very well. They great for everything else, but not good for ice.
that trail is the worst in the snow people going up and down slipping and sliding. but it sure is nice up there
Totally! It was worth the views and quesadillas. Thanks for watching dude
right on! next time bring some chorizo too!
Super fun vid!
Siiick man.
Lytle Creek is a beautiful place!!! Great video!
I wonder if chains would prevent sliding back? Is there even chains for 40x15.5?
Yes chains for every size tire sensors including 48" military

Cool video dude! What is the brand of your awning? We need one for our 01 sequoia!

I gotta ask, how come you weren’t from the locked off-road shocks back to kings??
Sometimes it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. Edit...is that a solo stove or equivalent?Cheers, brother.
Great video!
Is that second Tacoma, 4 x 4? And are trails like that do able with the 2 Wheel Drive

What brand is that amber bumper light? Looks awesome
Great video brotha!
Thanks for watching!!
This is another time when you always need chains during winter !!!
Do you feel the Toyo MT had a factor in sliding say if you went with Toyo AT3 would it have been better?
I’ve owned both At3 and mt, I think it was just icy. Everyone was slipping left and right. Lytle is known for that.
Amazing Video!! 👀🤞
Thanks George!
Well it’s a good thing they are not your friends because friends like that no one needs lol
Hey man! how the drone battery holding up in the cold? Sweet footage
Toyota should sponsor y’all lol
Wow!!! Hella beautiful do you have the coordinates for this place
Wht u stayed there for..?😀😀
