I've told you guys this often but it's all because of you guys that I have an Xbox OG collection of 250 games at this point. Never ever thought to even buy or collect this console until I saw you guys do the videos on them and now it's become one of my all-time favorite systems I'm actually playing Forza on it right now haha. Splinter cell is the game to use for softmodding an xbox and it liteally takes minutes to do
i have tried the new way to do but all really need is a way to download the linux hack file and just follow the steps
it literally takes ten minutes or less to softmod the OG Xbox :) :)
not even going to lie i have a softmodded x-box, a retropie and softmoded psp and usage is
1. PSP--Only because of portable
2. xbox-
3. retropie--even though it can do more-the main downside is if your bluetooth controller gets unpaired it can be a bear to get paired up correctly again if you know what i mean :) :)

@@engagedswitch Should have gone for the Vita tbh. Jailbroken Vita has full PSP compatibility and plays the majority of PS1 games fine too thanks to Sony's PSone emulator under PSP mode. 3 systems in 1.
@@Manic_Panic agreed I just haven't gotten a PS Vita yet but I'll be honest like even though I have things that are more powerful I do end up playing my PSP anymore than anything else I don't know if it's just something about the form factor that I like but that's probably my most played handheld console out of everything I have and that includes my switch

I love this challenge! I would add Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Dead or Alive 3, Need for Speed Underground, SSX Tricky, and Gun. All can be found CIB for under $11 each, particularly if you go for a Greatest Hits version.

@@Wally17. I came here to suggest this. I just played through two towers and now I'm playing through return of the king on co-op with my brother. Never played return of the king when I was younger and it basically improved on everything two towers did in a great way
I basically did this. I had a gift card to a local game store for 66 dollars and I added five bucks to it and got mech assault 2, Rainbow six 3, Grand Theft Auto 3, Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30, Fight Night Round 2, Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Tiger Woods 06, Corvette, Fable, Midtown Madness 3 and Breeders Cup World Thoroughbred for the lols. Spent 71 dollars and added it to my Halo 2, Big Bumping and Sneak King I had laying around to start an Xbox collection. Xbox means a lot to me since it was the first console I bought with my own money and I had a ton of money but no responsibility to have a massive library. I sold off all my stuff after learning how to softmod and upgrade hard drives but I want to collect for it. Awesome video

I love this content! It’s funny, your old OG Xbox videos motivated me to collect for my Xbox. I have been flipping GameCube games to then put money into my Xbox collection! GameCube games sell like crazy!

I agree GameCube is awesome! However all of my nostalgia is for the OG Xbox and games are cheap! Plus I picked up a stack of complete GameCube titles for 3$ apiece thrifting the other day so selling that will practically allow me to double up on my Xbox stuff

I love buying games for the OG xbox because of the affordability. You can spend $50 bucks on a lot of 12 games on ebay. if they suck, big deal.
I think the most overlooked "cheap" games are pretty much anything Midway published for the xbox. from their arcade treasures collections 1 through 3, NHL Hitz, NFL Blitz, MLB slugfest, Area 51 to the Mortal Kombat games. They all kick ass.

That's a FANTASTIC collection for under $100. Wow I'm blown away, thought you guys would only get like 5 games. Another one worth putting in there (especially because it's so cheap) is the Sega GT/Jet Set Radio Future combo CD for Xbox. It's only $10 and you get 2 great games!!!

One hidden gem i've recently re-descovered is Secret Weapons over Nomandy. If you enjoy games like Crimson Sky & Rogue Squadron, then this is right up your alley. Its even by Lucas Arts!

Couldn't have asked for a better video to wake up to. You guys really covered all your bases. Some alternative games I'd recommend would be Dead or Alive 3. Granted, I know you guys aren't that into fighters but, it was a launch title so it's dirt-cheap, and it's still one of the best fighting games of all time. If you enjoyed Psi-Ops, I'd highly recommend Second Sight. It's in the same vein but it's far better IMO. One of the most underrated games on the console. A good alternative (or addition) to Tony Hawk would be Amped 2. It's easily one of the most beautiful games on the Xbox, plays like a dream with a good balance between arcade and sim, and has a banger soundtrack. There's also Mechassault, Ninja Gaiden, Jade Empire, Quantum Redshift, Brute Force, Pariah, Blinx, Project Gotham Racing, Fable, and that's just the awesome exclusives that are under $10, you could go on forever though. The Xbox just makes this challenge too easy haha. It still has the cheapest library of any system and there are so many incredible games on it. Great video guys, really enjoyed it. Always awesome to see more people hopping on the OG Xbox.

I think you guys made some fantastic picks. I would swap out THPS 2X for THUG because THPS 2X has this weird ghosting with the animations, which you can look past, but it also has the rooftops level that was incomplete and they still put it on the disc. I get that it's cool for 2X to be Xbox exclusive but it's not the best offering.

I already have the console luckily and some good games and recently did a big game trade in at local store for over a hundred in store credit. This gave me some good ideas of games to get with it.

Black is an awesome game! Man, I played the crap out of that game in my younger days. On the PS2 though.
It had a spiritual successor called Bodycount. A good game in its own right.

Great Video, I love the Xbox. I do wish Price Charting sold the games though, Because according them? They are way cheaper than anywhere I've seen. and I've been collecting for years.. Most Retro stores use price charting numbers to decide what they pay you. I remember one Retro store used Price Charting numbers to sell their games in London, On and that Store? Got raided. You won't find prices cheaper than Price Charting anywhere. Especially when comes to rare an uncommon games. Alot of times they are way off.
Sometimes on some of the games there prices are a few weeks behind also! But you make solid points! Cheers!

Pretty solid list. I hear you on skipping Halo but 1 & 2 are so cheap you probably could've got at least one of them to fill up that remaining balance. Nothing quite like being back in college playing local LAN with several consoles & tvs and a bunch of buddies drinking a few brews. I remember I went to the midnight release for Halo 2 and played it long into the night, then I skipped all of my classes to play it the next day.
These games might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they're some solid additional suggestions for anyone trying to get a decent collection on a 100$ budget. There's a couple of other really cheap multi-plats out there that I'd also recommend but didn't list, such as the 3 GTA games, Metal Gear Solid 2, Red Dead Revolver, etc. These suggestions are just great, cheap games. Preferences are definitely going to play a part in whether or not someone's interested but if they're a fan of the specific genre of said game you can't go wrong with these:
Fable: 6.96. JSRF+Sega GT: 10.41. Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate: 10.70. Jedi Outcast: 15.00 or Jedi Academy: 11.46. Jade Empire: 10.00. Star Wars Battlefront 2: 11.22. Forza: 8.73. Ninja Gaiden: 7.02. Soul Caliber 2: 10.44.
Hopefully some random finds this comment helpful. I wasn't trying to keep the suggestions to the 100$ limit but I think this list is roughly there.

I played my younger bro's 360s (lots of rrod units ugh) a bunch when it was current, I kinda got out of modern gaming at that point in time so I didn't have a ps3 or 360 till the ps4/xone were out. Needless to say I'm going to be picking up some 360 games now.
It's kinda perfect cause at least in my experience with second hand tag sales etc. it's pretty much gen 7+ only now. Rare to find something older these days.

if i had to pick out of the games we own i'd say : Bard's Tale , Blood Wake, Burnout 3 , burnout Revenge, Fable limited edition bonus DVD , halo combat evolved, midnight club 2, need for speed underground 2, X-Men next dimension, dead to rights and that would be the entire $100

Great list boys. Solid variety, but I would have had Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Midway Arcade Treasures, and SegaGT2002/JSRF combo pack in there as well as quality cheap games. Cheers.

If I was starting a collection, I would start with games that could get expensive in the future. Get them whilst they are cheap.
Any OG exclusives that aren't likely going to get a re-release. These would included Jet Set Radio Future, Fable: The Lost Chapters (The best version of the first game) and Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball.
Then follow up with generation 6 multiplats that are best played on the OG Xbox that also aren't likely going to get a re-release such as Burnout 3: Takedown and ESPN NFL 2K5.
Annual sports games tend to be very cheap. Buying the favourite year of your favourite sports can bulk out your collection for peanuts. (I would have chosen the 2005 editions of Tiger Woods and Pro Evolution Football.)
Finally, chase your favourites that are available at a good price.

Great series. Hope there’s more with other consoles. If you had only $100 to build a collection for a console I think OG Xbox is only beaten in value by the 360. For that $100 you can get some of the greatest games of all time regardless of platform on the OG.

They’re right! Sometimes you’ll find amazing deals. I was dreaming about playing tony hawk 1-3 again. I caught the nostalgia bug and went to a retro store. They had a sale on games under a certain price. Since Xbox games are cheap, I walked out with 33 titles for only $99
Some stores sell Xbox games or whatever retro game without the case. I was buying games such as X-men legends for only 3.99 for an example.

Unironically you basically can't do better than the og Xbox. That generation was just incredible, and the Xbox absolutely held its own in the game department.

Badass picks. Black, an FPS made by Burnout creators, need i say more? and its best played on the OG Xbox, i remember when i first fired the shotgun in Black. My speakers almost blew me and my couch through to next door. Phenomenal sound design.

Wow guys, fantastic list. You definitely put a lot of thought into it otherwise you are just that good. A LOT of value here. I've been a fan of the Xbox since day one and there are a few on the cheap I would recommend as option to anyone else reading. Such as NBA Street Vol. 2 or 3, SSX Tricky or 3, Jade Empire and Need For Speed Underground 2. I'd love to see this as a series for the other consoles. I bet you could do this from the 6th generation all the way through at least the 8th generation and find a bunch of badass games for less than $100. Great for anyone starting to collect or needing to round out the collection with overlooked games. ✅️

Enjoyed the video guys. I started collecting the complete PAL set for this since you compared prices between this console generation. Although it's cheaper in most cases I didn't consider how hard it would be to collect for. I need about 170 games now so I guess I should 'thank' you guys for the inspiration 😅

Geez I had a couple og Xbox’s this year that owed me next to nothing but I had them stored away purely just to have in my collection but ended up selling them all and everything with them coz I was in a pitch for money for bills. So wish I hadn’t sold it all as I would’ve picked up that game thirteen, never heard or seen that before and I love that art style

Can confirm their obsession for Tiger Woods per MoGameCon. Lol. Fusion Frenzy was a ton of fun there too. Ha ha, was waiting for Robert to bust out a Tony Hawk game. Great choices guys, especially in that genre variety, always important in building a game library to play.

Crimson Skies is my favorite first party Xbox game good on you guys for putting it in. Thief Deadly Shadows and Deus Ex Invisible War are glaring omissions but other than that you guys thought up a fun theoretical collection.

I wasn't a full on fan of the Xbox original, but I do have quite a few games I love on it, like the first two Fatal Frame games, with 2 being my all time favorite survival horror game (just got the last ending this year), Doom 3 and its expansion which is my all time favorite FPS and the first Fable game which is a darn good western RPG.
Those are all Great games! Xbox has a vast library! Cheers!
OG Xbox is one of the best consoles out there. Lots of solid games and they typically run and look better than the PS2 and GameCube versions. Get the HD cables cause most games run in widescreen and several at 720p and 6 titles run at 1080i.
We have a few sets of those cables in our miscellaneous tubs we have! Cheers!

Xbox does have some pricey games, but on the whole, it's crazy how cheap the system is in general. I've been expanding my Xbox collection a fair amount over the last 6 months.

Tiger Woods golf had my buddys and myself sitting around for hours. The new games are good but doesn't compare. Also a game I would've added even though I first played on Dreamcast is PSO I&II, I still have my original copy from back in the day.

I've got 3 og Xboxs with like 150 games. Most of it was from cheap ass lots I got great deals for. One of my xboxs is still sealed AND it's the one that doesn't have the leaky capacitor

Highly recommend Brute Force. It's an exclusive and it's a banger! Plus it's around $7. Also special shout out to Buffy which is a little pricey for this exercise ($20) and the double pack of Sega GT and JSRF ($10)

I agree with most but i would swap THPS 2x with morrownd hands down. You really missed an opportunity not having that game on the list. Hundreds of hours of play time.

This is a great games list dudes. I can’t say any of them don’t belong. The only ones I haven’t played are PSI-Ops and Fusion Frenzy. Splinter Cell is awesome and the series as a whole is one of my favorite game series. I’ve played both XIII and Crimson Skies multiplayer online on several occasions using XLink Kai, both of which support more players when playing system link. They’re fun multiplayer experiences.
And as an aside, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you guys pick up Tiger Woods PGA Tour ‘14 for the Xbox 360. It’s still pretty much the best golf game there is. If you love the Tiger games, ‘14 has A LOT of content to offer and is very fun. And last I checked earlier this year, the servers are still up for playing online on Xbox Live.
So many different combos you could do for the OG Xbox! We have a buddy with that game! It doesnt have Daly which is my main charm! Cheers!

I have Tiger Wood 07 on PS3 but Don't mind popping in the og xbox version on xbox and play a couple holes.

I had ps2 and GC during og xbox days. Never got an Xbox console until I got a ps4 and quickly tired of it and got an Xbox One for a wider range and variety of games.
